《I thought I was right》Chapter 14

“Why hello little guy,” Stephanie finished putting a cast on me and bent down to the little kids level.
“Hi! My name is Parker. My mommy said that I should watch over him.” He tilted his head and gestured at me.
“Well, your mamma is smart! This naughty boy is getting himself in a lot of trouble!” Stephanie joked. Parker looked at me questioningly, as if he didn’t understand if it was a joke or not. His bewildered face made me realize that he looked like Tommy, the little boy when me and Zoe were king and queen.
“Tommy!” I blurted out. The little boy jumped, and got a haunted look on his face, as if he had just seen a ghost.
“How- how do you,” his voice cracked.
“How do you know Tommy?”
“Um long story, but how do you know Tommy?”
“Oh,” his eyes teared up and he swallowed hard.
“He was my best friend, my twin brother. But then, a few months ago he disappeared in the night. I want him back so bad! Do you know what happened to him and where he is?”
“Oh uh he, yes. I- i know him. I know Tommy.”
“REALLY!?”
“Yes, he was my friend when I was king.”
Parker was so excited he didn’t even know or bother to ask me about being king.
“MOMMY! MOMMY! THE PERSON! TOMMY! HE KNOWS! MOMMY!” Parker was so excited he sprinted up the stairs and yelled for him mommy. He got so over himself that he made no sense. I smiled tiredly at Stephanie.
“Who is the ‘Tommy’ person we are talking about?”
“Oh him?” I explained to her briefly about Tommy but without even realizing it, I left out the part where he could do illusion.
“That is a miraculous journey! How did he get from there, all the way to here without getting hurt, or lost!”
A few moments later, Parker brought an older woman behind him, she was dressed like a rainbow, with a red shawl and orange scarf, she went down the rainbow with a yellow sweater and green pants, ending it off, she wore blue socks and purple shoes. All her clothes looked worn out, and old, the colors were fading and some parts of her clothes had small holes in them, but she still managed to look very presentable and self styled. Her eyes were bright, sparkling, baby blue, like the feather on macaws. Today, her eyes were filled with hope, and excitement.

“Hello, Mr.” She spoke with a faint French accent.
“It is very nice to meet you too,” it smiled and bowed, she curtsied in return.
“I heard from Parker that you know of Tommy?” Her voice trembled with hope.
“Yes, he is…” I explained to her about how I had met him and how he was doing. I still self consciously kept out the part of his illusion.
“Oh my goodness! Are you sure it was him, my Tommy?” The woman was getting so excited she was about to jump and sequel in pure joy.
“Yes ma’am! I am pretty sure that he was your boy Tommy! He looked almost exactly like Parker here and their facial features, oh my!”
I got so overjoyed that I was going to reunite a family that I was gushing about Tommy uncontrollably. Parker and his mom seemed even more excited.
“Oh yes! My boy! Should we pack anything? Can you give us the directions to Tommy? How do I get there? Are there any hostile monsters that we need to watch out for?”
“Oh ma’am! Don’t worry, I will personally bring you there. It will be a short and safe trip. Tell Zoe and watch over the kingdom while I’m gone would you?” I answered Parker’s mom’s question and ordered Stephanie. With that, I lifted me, Parker, and his mom off the ground and flew us towards my old kingdom. I suddenly wondered why hadn't I been able to use magic when I was fighting with Kevin. I shook my head and pushed that thought to the back of my mind, I didn’t have the time to think about it now. We flew in mostly silence, occasionally Parker would point out something to his mom. I realized that I was following the same path that me and Zoe had run, just not underground.
I was shocked to see that the kingdom of delendrawi had grown since I was there last, instead of a small castle with a drawbridge, it had evolved into a massage castle, nearly five times the size of it used to be.
“Oh my!” Parker gasped.
I landed us in the front of the old entrance and a knight rode on a horse out of a side door.
“WHO ARE YOU?” He boomed so loud.

“Do you not remember me? The king of delendrawi?”
“Sir! You didn’t die! We waited months for you to return. Our new king is Sir Tommy, since he was the only one you had any king of contact with. But come in.”
The knight led us to another throne room, it looked very similar to the one we had been in. And on the throne, with a huge crown in his head, was Tommy.
“MY BOY!” Parker’s mom ran at Tommy and gave him a bear hug.
“Mommy!” Tommy looked just as blissful. Parker stood there awkwardly until Tommy jumped down from the throne and slowed his descent with air manipulation.
“Wait! Tommy? You're magical!?” Parker looked amazed and jealous.
“Yes! I am! Maybe you are too?” As if on cue, a small arrow fired out of nowhere at Parker. He stood still and didn’t move. Instead of something blocking the arrow, it went right through him, and didn't leave a scratch. Parker then immediately picked up the arrow and threw it back where the arrow had come from with such velocity and force it had to have been 65 miles per hour.
I tried to block it with a wind wall but it was surprisingly strong. It took almost all of my will power to stop it.
“That, is, AMAZING!” I was so excited to have another trainee and magician to work with.
“How did I do that?” Parker looked at his arms and legs in confusion.
“My leg is fine and my arms were so strong! How had I never known or done that before? I mean I never got hurt but I thought that I was just lucky. This is so cool! What’s your power Tommy?” Tommy smiled.
“I can do illusion.” He answered.
“Like how? What do you mean?”
Tommy made himself invisible but I could still see the faintest outline of him.
“Where did you go? Your power is cool!”
Tommy reappeared and made Parker invisible.
“Where did you go Parker?”
“What do you m…” Parker looked at his invisible body in shock and horror.
“What did you do! Help! Turn me back!”
Tommy laughed and toyed with Parker some more, like giving him half his body or only his head, or only his legs. He eventually let Parker back to normal.
“This is awesome! We can be the best duo! You can turn invisible and I can fight them off! This will be so awesome!” Parker and Tommy started making battle plans on who does what and how to defeat the imaginary enemy. They repeatedly used the words ‘awesome’ and ‘cool’.
“Thank you so much for everything!” Parker and Tommy’s mom curtsied again. I realize that I had not properly introduced myself yet.
“Of course! It was my pleasure!” And it really was.
“My name is Joe, by the way.”
“Why, hello ‘Joe by the way’, my name is Eva, it's a pleasure to meet you.”
I laughed.
Tommy stayed behind to give his family a tour of the castle while I flew ahead. I flew straight to the library, the turns and twists feeling familiar yet distant. I opened the doors of the library, ignoring the rust and metal illusion. I closed the door behind me and walked quietly. I looked at the golden spirals on the ground and realized that instead of blue and magnate for me and Zoe, it was laced with red and lime, the colors I had seen ever so slightly when Tommy and Parker had shown their powers. I thought back to so long ago when Zoe had told me that you didn't have to be a couple, as long as you were willing to die for each other it was okay. The bond between Tommy and Parker was so strong, it could be a valuable tool for us but if any of Kevin’s men got a hold of one of them, it would be big trouble. Buried in my thoughts, I sat down and tried to focus on one thought. I thought i was right; I thought i was right about everything, but what if i was wrong? I was wrong about Kevin, and so many other things that I was starting to doubt myself.
