《Must I Go Out to Survive This?》Chapter 16 - One vs More Than One

The wind blows from West to East.
The sunlight slowly revealed itself from the horizon line.
Early morning red clouds. Orange and yellow are the background colors of the sky.
A man is dealing with danger.
A danger which is very likely to make him die.
At 05:47 AM, on a street, Tanaka was standing.
In front of the man, Tank Mutant stood with his body forward. He's like a gorilla with arms bigger than his feet.
Tanaka readied his sledgehammer. He was forced to fight the dangerous giant in front of him.
Hundreds of zombies swarm. Some started coming out of the alleys beside Tanaka. They are controlled.
Tank Mutants, they are known for their strength that can be compared to man-made armored-vehicles, tanks. Their strength was on par with large vehicles. Their armor is titanium steel class. Their mobility is like that of humans.
"Damn it, is this sledgehammer really going to have any effect?"
The confused and panicked Tanaka spoke. He felt pessimistic in the face of many enemies.
Tanaka is a man who gets special powers in the form of physical enhancements and is not detected by zombies. Several other additional abilities are also present, but they are not closely related to the combat aspect.
With Tanaka's abilities undetected by zombies, he can walk around as much as he wants in this apocalypse. Zombies will never be able to attack him because of this ability.
Or so that is what Tanaka thought at first.
Dozens of zombies approach Tanaka. They now wanted to attack the man who should have the ability not to be detected by them.
Tanaka waved his blunt weapon. It was a weapon that weighed approximately fifteen kilograms. A weapon that normally requires two hands to use.
However, for Tanaka, the weapon only required one hand to use. Thanks to that flick, Tanaka blew away five zombies on his right side.
Tank Mutant approaching. Tanaka with a rush of adrenaline focused on his big opponent.
At about three meters tall, theTank Mutant outperformed Tanaka in size. The monster raised its right hand and jumped.
Tanaka who noticed it immediately dodged to the right of his face. He managed to dodge the iron giant's attack.
While dodging, Tanaka also swung his sledgehammer at the zombies around. The zombies hit by the attack will bounce and most likely die from the torso being crushed by the massive force.
"Damn it, it's useless!"
Said Tanaka. He managed to kill some zombies. However, there are still hundreds of zombies coming towards him plus he has to deal with the mutant.
In front of the mutant, it was an empty road. The target, Tanaka, was now on the left.
The mutant sent a sweep with his right hand. Tanaka dodged an attack he clearly couldn't block by bending down.
The mutant's hand reached the road and was slightly silent due to the huge momentum he had launched earlier. Tanaka now has a chance to attack.
Tanaka attacked the mutant's right shoulder which was armored with iron.
The sound of metal clashing resounded.
'Did it have an impact?'
Tanaka asked as soon as he attacked. He was now focused on his weapon bouncing back to the side.
The answer to Tanaka's question is no. It didn't have much of an impact as the mutant's armor completely blocked the sledgehammer's attack.
Tanaka followed the massive momentum of the swirling weapons. He tried his best not to break the grip of his sledgehammer.
While turning, Tanaka also moved away from the mutant. He was like a spinning top hitting dolls. Tanaka as the spinning top and the zombies as the dolls.

Now Tanaka reached a point of balance. He repositioned his weapon forward.
Good news for Tanaka, he managed to kill a lot of zombies. Bad news for Tanaka, he is now in the middle of a zombie crowd.
The zombie crowd didn't completely surround Tanaka. There is one direction where there is not a single zombie there. It was the place where Tanaka had been circling with his sledgehammer.
Right in front of the path, there was a Tank Mutant that was poised to run.
"Shit, hell the way!"
Tanaka was surrounded and the only way out would be the giant's path through. It was normal for the man to swear. Swear that wasn't too harsh, but indicated that he was in a super insecure position.
Positioned like a rugby player, the mutant ran towards Tanaka. The mutant bends down to increase its force and momentum as it moves forward.
Dodging in all directions was impossible for Tanaka. One bite from a zombie is the same as death. Blocking the giant monster was also the same as death.
Having found enlightenment, Tanaka then made up his mind.
He took steps to jump. Once the mutant was at the right distance, Tanaka jumped as high as he could.
The man with the sledgehammer managed to avoid a collision with the mutant giant.
Tanaka landed. Tank Mutant crashes into a house and destroys it.
Seeing the situation, Tanaka decided to finish off some of the zombies around him. It would be bad if even one of the zombies managed to bite him.
Within a minute or so of Tanaka swinging his big hammer, the mutant was now awake.
The mutant who knows that the distance between himself and the target is far away picks up the rubble of the building. Tanaka saw it and knew what is going to happen.
The right hand which was holding dozens of brick debris was swung forward. Movement similar to a baseball thrower.
The solid object flying at high speed was aimed at Tanaka. Luckily the super-powered man was able to avoid it.
The debris that didn't hit Tanaka actually hit the zombies around him. The body part that is hit by the throwing object becomes a hole.
Some zombies fall. Tanaka took advantage of this event to increase the number of zombies killed.
Several times the mutant threw at Tanaka. Not all of them managed to hit him, but there were definitely times when Tanaka had to feel pain from being hit by an object or more that being launched.
The mutant doesn't just use large pieces of debris such as parts of walls or bricks. He also learns to crush large objects to create attacks with a wider area. It was because of this that Tanaka was able to get hit.
Tanaka endured the pain. His body reddened in several parts that were affected by the attack.
The mutant who had previously pelted Tanaka with solid objects now decided to move closer together. After all, he realized that his army of zombies had been affected more than the target had received.
Tanaka dodged the charge attack from the mutant. Thanks to the iron giant's reckless attack earlier, the space for Tanaka to move has now become wider.
The mutant stopped in his tracks and faced Tanaka again.
Zombie corpses scattered all around. Even after Tanaka had killed so many zombies, the number of zombies that were still surviving was still large.
One by one zombies appeared from the alley. They appeared as if they were summoned by the mutant who was now silent in front of Tanaka.

Not knowing for sure what the monster was doing, Tanaka decided to run towards the North taking cover behind the houses. He had no advantage if he had to fight against hundreds of zombies in the open like the streets earlier.
The mutant somehow remained silent. He only knew that the target had fled towards the housing.
"Shit, should I run away?"
Tanaka asked himself. He tried to think of a reason that required him to keep fighting.
"No, I have to protect Yuki!"
Tanaka remembered that his purpose in going around exploring wasn't just for sightseeing. It was to remove the threat around the base. He couldn't let these destructive monsters roam around his base.
"Damn it, think!"
Tanaka tried to think of a way to defeat the monster.
In terms of size, mutants clearly win at this point. In terms of strength, the mutant's attack destructive power was many times that of Tanaka's. In terms of defense, the Tank Mutant is clearly the champion.
There was no aspect that Tanaka could excel at except mobility and intelligence.
"Aghhh, what's the use of intelligence if I don't have something to convert it to!"
Tanaka who was thinking about that complained about his superior points being useless in this battle. He was about to hit the electric pole in front of him. However, before the hand hit, Tanaka stopped and thought of something.
"Here it is!"
Tanaka thought of something about the electric pole.
The mutant who only knew that his target was running towards the inside of the alley fell silent. He gathered more zombie troops to control.
Zombies are basically something individualistic. However, when they receive special sonar from mutants who have higher intelligence, they will obey.
This is how the mutant makes an army. Not creating zombies from something that doesn't exist, but recruiting wild zombies that are around.
About two hundred zombies were successfully controlled. The mutant is ready to hunt.
The giant entered the alley. Even though he was tall and big, he would still be covered by the taller and wider walls of the houses.
A treading sound that doesn't sound loud, but it can generate vibrations from it. The traces left by the mutant were cracks in the surface. Traces that indicated how heavy this monster is.
The zombies were deployed in various directions. With their slow movements, the mutants actually preceded.
One by one the house is destroyed by the mutant, hoping that there is a target hiding in it.
The zombies that are spreading are now ahead of the mutant who is focused on destroying. Suddenly a loud clanking sound was heard.
The monster who had been checking the houses one by one now headed towards the sound. The ringing sounded several times until it finally stopped ringing.
The monster was sure that its direction was towards a certain point. Pointing North, the linear direction of where the point is likely to be.
In order not to lose the vector that the mutant had provided, he walked straight into any object in front of him. No more than four houses he passed, the mutant stopped when he saw his target at a T-road.
The mutant turned left, the direction where the target had been until a moment ago. After that the target ran towards the North.
The mutant tries to get to where the target was.
"Got it!"
Suddenly a large object hit the monster's head from above. The object which is the top base of an electric pole.
Previously, Tanaka had prepared this trap. The trap where the hit accuracy is very small.
However, thanks to the movement of the mutant which was as Tanaka had predicted, the trap attack was successful.
The electrical voltage stored in the primary conductor flows into the mutant's armor. The electrocution damaged several vital cells and viruses which made the steel stick to the monster's flesh.
"This is my win!"
That's what Tanaka thought since he was convinced that electricity was the most effective weapon against iron-type mutants like Tank Mutants.
However, in reality, the mutant was still standing.
The electric voltage that flows to the surface of the body to the brain of the mutant does have an impact. However, the amount given wasn't enough to have enough impact to kill him.
The mutant's body system immediately reacts and the result is that the damage received is minimized. Tanaka who had no other way now only had one choice.
Run away.
The man, a former office worker and former hikikomori, is now running away from the point where the mutant was. He tried to escape and return to base, but his sense of chivalry refused to do so.
"Yuki is there and I can't bring her along in this danger!"
Tanaka climbs up one of the houses which looks empty. He had already run quite a distance from the point when he dropped the pole.
"Damn, what should I do!"
Tanaka thought hard. Electricity is one of the weaknesses of iron-type mutants. However, other information regarding the weaknesses of the Tank Mutant that can be used is still gray.
Tanaka tried to remember any information that might help. Information from internet forums before the network dies.
Some say that submerging it in water is a powerful way. However, the distance between Tanaka and the river is still quite far. In addition, this method is also too visible and clearly the mutant with intelligence will realize that he is being herded.
There are also those who say that this mutant can be penetrated with heavy sniper bullets such as 50 cal BMG. This was a weapon that Tanaka desperately wanted, but clearly he didn't currently have one.
There is a way that is like giving him poison. However, this method has not been proven unlike the two methods above.
"I don't have poison anyways!"
Tanaka answered. He couldn't find any other effective way to fight the monster.
Without sufficient preparation, Tanaka would only be a bag of fists and dishes if he met him.
"Should I just move?"
Tanaka tries to find another way if he really can't beat the big giant.
This might sound good since he couldn't beat the Tank Mutant. However, given that not all areas could be as safe as his base area, Tanaka reevaluated.
Tanaka looked ahead. There was someone standing there. It was a naked female zombie.
"Why are you naked though!"
Tanaka who was easily tensed now sensed an additional emergency. He couldn't help it since it was normal for this to happen.
Tanaka continued to think. The mutant is now approaching towards the house in front of Tanaka.
The mutant returned to the action earlier. Attack every house where there is a possibility the target is hiding.
It was true that Tanaka was currently hiding. However, he was not in the house. He was on the balcony and covered by some kind of wall with gaps that could be used to peek.
Tank Mutant emits its signal again. He cut off control with a zombie that was too far from his position. He also controls some of the new zombies that are around.
Tanaka kept an eye on the mutant's movements. He is currently silent.
The female zombie is connected to the mutant's control. She saw Tanaka outside the balcony. She walked towards him.
Tanaka, who was not aware of the movement of the zombies behind him, continued to monitor the mutant. The mutant which got a signal of aggression from one of the zombies approached the zombie. The direction where Tanaka was.
It was then that Tanaka realized it.
'There it is!'
Tanaka noticed that there were crack marks on the mutant's upper head armor. It was an opening that could send an attack into the inside of the big monster's head.
The naked female zombie pushed the door slowly. Tanaka didn't hear the voice because he was still too focused on the mutant's voice and movements.
The sound of the zombies below also helped to distract Tanaka.
From behind Tanaka's body, there was a zombie that was moving very slowly. There was also something like a corpse's bones in the interior of the room.
Three steps until Tanaka was within reach. The man who is still watching the movement of the Tank Mutant is still hiding his form behind the side of the wall.
Two steps until Tanaka was within reach. The mutant was now convinced that there was something above the balcony. He moves faster.
One step until Tanaka was within reach. The mutant was within Tanaka's jump range. Tanaka himself was currently convincing himself.
When the mutant was in close proximity, Tanaka would jump at him and hit the mutant hard on the head. That was the plan that Tanaka had already decided.
The zombie was at a distance of consciousness. Tanaka who was about to attack the mutant turned around and saw the female zombie about to bite.
Tanaka's plan to make a surprise attack failed.
