《Waiting for the Sun》Feeding

Cayden followed suitably. The den the young man was referring to is a wall of fence with barbed wire at the top. All four corners are strapped with barb wire, leaving the center an empty field. This place used to be a tennis court.
On the left, there are hundreds of shadows gnawing and eating away the fences. On the right is where the nine poor humans are shoved and forced to line up. These are not young, strong men like the group of the eleven thugs. These are two middle-aged women, a weak-salary man, two high school girls, one young lad, twin teenage boys, and a fifty-year old man.
The first in line is the high school girls. Cayden clicked his tongue. In a world where the rules of survival of the fittest dominate, children, middle school teenagers, middle-aged men and women never stand a chance. Unless the Dark Tower unlocks the abilities sleeping within everyone. But today, it is impossible. The game this time is the first one implemented. A survival elimination game. whose main purpose is to thin out the population, picking up only those that are strong enough to survive.
There was a newcomer that came in, and then the newcomer nudge all of them to leave, leaving the young man who sliced Cayden's leg behind. He grinned.
This is a perfect opportunity.
Cayden waited for the young man to open the fence. The nine individuals are silently shaking in fear. Their wide eyes are staring in horror at the group of monsters they are about to be fed to. The young man pulled the high school girl first. She was shaking her head, trying to stall time while pleading for mercy.
"Please, not me. I will do anything you ask. Just please, not me. Spare me... " The girl is about to enter the tennis court. And he will force her to bleed and then be fed to the zombies on the other side.

Just as when the young man pushed the girl inside, Cayden pulled the girl away from him, shoving her in the direction of the other girl. "Wha-?" The young man yelled. Cayden did not hesitate to punch the young man's jaw. He raised his boots and delivered another blow to the other jaw.
The young man was desperate to defend himself. With his gun, the young man raised it to shoot Cayden in the forehead.
A bullet was pulled out of the trigger. Because the firearm used was laced with a silencer, the explosive gunshot wasn't heard.
Cayden got hit alright. There's no need for blood, especially in the hole drilled by a bullet. The young man rejoiced at the moment.
The other nine people whimpered. The youth who had the opportunity to go against the young man is dead. How are they going to escape from being fed to the zombies?
The high school girl whimpered in fright. Her knees turned jelly as she backed away. Her eyes trailed the youth who came in the nick of time to save her.
"No...." At her words, the young man turned to her. "Yes! That's what will happen if you do not obey me. Now move your buttocks and get inside! Now! " The young man was totally pissed. It seems his jaw was broken. He struggled to get up but noticed one important thing. How come the young man he shot didn't fall down and just stood there? What's going on?!
"Haah," A relaxed, lazy tone of the youth was heard in everyone's ears.
"Haven't you heard of the Dark Tower? The first rule of the survival game. Guns, grenades, and other explosive weapons are not allowed, thereby rendering them worthless in every game. " The hole that was supposed to drill into Cayden's skull is now being played on his fingertips, like a toy. Cayden's smirk seems arrogant, but his eyes are full of spite against the young man.

The young man was frightened at the sight of someone still alive after receiving a gunshot head on. His surprise did not let him avoid the deadly attack that was coming for him.
Cayden notices the knife in the young man's legs. It's eight inches with sharp wedges. Perfect for cutting heads.
Without any warning, Cayden appeared behind the young man and slit his throat. All nine individuals are horrified and terribly disgusted. It was the first time they witnessed a first-hand murder. Despite the horrors they have witnessed at the hands of the young man and his group, they do not want him to die in this manner. Staring at the headless corpse, all the zombies on the other side are terribly agitated. The sight of blood and flesh entices them.
Cayden carried the dead body while taking out the remote to open the fence.
He threw the body of the young man inside the tennis court and raised the fence on three corners. All at once, the zombies raced to get a taste of the fresh meat.
They hungrily devour the flesh, drink the blood, and peal the skin layer by layer. All nine individuals were terribly disgusted. The four young ones could not take it and vomited on the spot.
Cayden twiddled with the remote. There was a roller at the center. He was curious about it at first, so he slowly let it roll on his thumb.
It was a cool sight to see the tennis court itself rolling in the left direction. Without any hesitation, he let the body feast along with the zombies, being driven away from the center towards the outer court.
He let the fence down again and the tennis court sealed itself with not a single zombie left inside. Cayden raised his eyebrows. So this is how they do the feeding. on the left hand side, a few meters away. That solitary storage room, where tennis equipment and lockers are kept, Cayden is sure that's where they imprison the other prisoners for the next feeding.
There are dragging marks everywhere. The nine individuals stared, horrified at the scene that took place just now. The rolling tennis court has no trace of blood. It was as if that incident of zombies feasting on humans had never happened. If only they couldn't hear the low growling, the sound of bones breaking and being chewed roughly, they would have believed that everything they witnessed just now was not real.

The Choice is Not Yours
Author's Note: (As of November 20, 2021) I rewrote all the chapters perhaps more than a year ago, but haven't announced that I did so. Because that kind of announcement would include something along the lines of, "I'm working on the story so expect new chapters!" But the truth is, I lack motivation to do anything. And I would hate myself if I broke a promise. I'm extremely sorry if you have been patiently waiting for uploads. These days, I've been studying, not well, but studying somewhat. I will definitely bring more to show, with regular uploads. If not this story then there's another story I've been writing that's really exciting to me. It's not exactly similar to this story since it has a male lead and he is a baneful asshole with even less morals. I hope you'll like it when it comes to existence. And I'll leave my announcement off with the aforementioned promise. Meet Amber, a tomboyish, unstable, and cheeky lass who likes to keep to herself. According to her, she'll live the rest of her life on auto-pilot mode, awhile holding onto the few things that make her remotely happy. However, she forgot that people never really leave you alone, be it humans or even the Gods. And exactly that happens, ending her monotonous life on such the Gods' whim. But at what cost to her? Will she be able to hold onto the things she holds dear? Or will she fail miserably and lose herself in the process? That's what the Gods want to know. Disclaimer: I do not own the cover photo.Warning: If you are easily triggered, I am not writing this novel for you.
