《A Peaceful World》chapter 8 - weapons and unlockables

Quill looked down at the small rabbit in his arms while carrying it over to his usual area. After looking at the rabbit he came to the conclusion that besides the broken leg and a bit of bruising there doesn’t seem to be a problem.
After fixing the broken leg into place Quill used a thick twig a leaf to keep it in place. Afterwards he got some of those plants the rabbits used on him before. Without the proper equipment he decided to do the same thing the rabbits did. Quill put some of the plants in his mouth and chewed until it became no solids was left. After applying the green goop to the rabbit two messages popped up.
because of your treatment the rabbit’s natural healing has increased by 2%
you have learnt the treatment skill
“another skill, nice”
’wait a minute? only 2%? When it was used on me it was 200% Why is that? did I do something wrong? or do the rabbits have a high ranked treatment skill? if so the how high is that skill?
Quill thought for a while until something broke him out of his inner monologue to himself. It was the rabbit or more correctly, the disappearance of the rabbit. Looking around in a panic he finally saw the rabbit. Though he was somewhat relieved he couldn’t but still be worried by what he saw. The rabbit with all its might is slowly hopping towards the tree. I still hasn’t given up. It still wants to climb that tree.
Quill quickly ran up to the rabbit and picked it up. The rabbit started struggling in his hands but Quill kept his grip tight while saying softly
“I know you want to climb it but at least wait till you’re healed”
As if the rabbit understood his words it stopped struggling and let Quill has his way with it. Though Quill hates to see people give up he still understands that the bodies condition is important in not giving up and thus decided to keep the rabbit from climbing until it heals.
Quill yet again carried the rabbit over to his area and set it down. This time though instead of treating it since that is already done, he decided to get on with what he was planning on doing today.
Picking up the stones he decided to carve them into spearheads while looking over to the rabbit every now and then to make sure it’s alright. There were a few failures but most came out as usable. An odd thing is that when quill identified it with weapon appraisal said it was a sharp rock instead of a spearhead. Quill contemplated it for a bit until deciding to forget about it for the moment. Throughout this process the carving skill leveled up twice and so did weapon appraisal.

’carving seems to level up faster than before, maybe it’s the fact I’m carving stone and not wood?
After contemplating this Quill went on to making a stone spear. He picked up one of the stone and went to pick up a stick but suddenly stopped, as if frozen he stays like that before muttering.
“...balls...I screwed up”
He has realised his mistake. He turned all the branches he collected into wooden javelins and wooden spears. Upon making this realisation he couldn’t help that the system was making fun of him when it never said he made a spearhead.
“what do I do now?”
’should I get more branches? no, that would take too long and I need to make sure the rabbit doesn’t go climbing trees and killing itself, would just a wooden spear be enough? it’s natural for stone to be better than wood but this is a game, they wouldn’t just toss you into the middle of nowhere with no way of survival. Maybe I can gain a spear skill if I use a spear so at least a wooden spear won’t be that bad. I don’t know, I need to clear my mind a bit.’
Quill glances over to the rabbit to see if it’s still there and is glad to see it there. He goes over to it and starts petting it for a bit hoping to clear his mind and come up with a solution
’besides, what am I gonna do when I make the spear anyway? go hunting wolves? I have no reason to leave this place really. Except for those wolves on the first day, there hasn’t been any problems at all. Well, not counting this little one. Though I do kinda want to go to a town or something, get a nice soft bed, eat some nice cooked food, that would be nice
Quill starts to daydream about life in a town until something hits him in the nose. Being brought back to reality he looks towards the reason, the rabbit. The rabbit glances about before looking back at him.
’there’s something around us?
Quill looks around to see what around them has changed and something has. All the rabbits are gone. the only one left is now in Quill’s lap.
’the rabbits are gone? this can only mean something bad
Quill flings the rabbit off his lap as he stood up and as quickly as he can, grabs a javelin and scans the area. He felt a bit bad for flinging the rabbit but it’s much better than dying. From the trees he sees an appearance he hasn’t seen for a few days. It had sharp teeth, gray-silver fur and a hungry look in its eyes. It was a wolf.

’as soon as I say no problems’
The wolf slowly walks towards Quill like he’s not even a threat. Why should it be? A wolf shouldn’t be afraid of a creature that socialise with their prey. If anything, it makes that creature prey itself. That is until it smelled something that foul. Something that shouldn't be in this kind of place. The wolf glanced towards the smell and got horrified. It was a corpse. To be exact, it was three corpses, one was in a sorry state with none of it’s fur left. The wolf was confused, how are there wolf corpses here? was it the rabbit? no, they are the prey. There’s no way prey can kill a mighty wolf. Then there was only one conclusion. It was this strange creature.
Quill notices the wolf stops and becomes more weary of him for some reason. They stare at each other for a while as if waiting for the other to make a move. The first move was by Quill, after making slight adjustments to his aim releases the javelin. The javelin flies through the air straight towards the wolf. The wolf seeing this, jumps out of the way and charges at Quill.
Quill quickly bends down to grab a spear. As he does, the wolf is right in front of him in mid lunge. Out of panic, he closes his eyes and stabs forth with the spear. After hearing a moan leak out from the wolf, Quill opens his eyes. The chest, he actually managed to pierce the chest. The wolf is now dangling in the air with the only thing keeping it up is the spear. Quill keep hold of the spear in one hand and grabs javelin in hopes to attack the head but he made one miscalculation. His strength, he couldn’t hold up the wolf with one hand and the wolf fell towards the ground pushing the spear further into it’s chest. It’s amazing the wolf is still standing but its unable to move. With the javelin in hand Quill attacks the side of head, stabbing the javelin straight into the ear killing the wolf.
Collapsing to the floor Quill breathes heavily as the adrenaline starts to fade. After recovering Quill couldn’t help but be happy. He managed to kill a wolf without getting a single scratch. Though it was a close call, it was still something he hasn’t done till now. Two windows popped up saying notifications has been enabled again and he has increased familiarity with rabbits.
After closing the windows Quill got up and checked on the rabbit. The rabbit seems to be alright. Well, not including it’s broken leg but the same as before. Quill now realises that things can’t always be peaceful around here.
’the wolves will probably keep coming, there’s been four already so there’s bound to be more, I need to be ready’
Quill grabs a spear and starts stabbing the air while including a few blows with the end of the spear
’the main reason I won was because of the spear, I should at least learn how to use it’
After a few hours of doing this, with breaks of course, a message popped up
you have learnt the bash skill
you have gained the adventurer class
the adventurer class is now equipped
A class? there are classes as well? but it’s equipped? I’ll find out later, more practice for now, I need to level up that bash skill and get stronger’
But after a few more hours only stab leveled up once. Confused over how slow they are leveling up, Quill decided to work on something else that bothered him.
’After I threw the javelin I was vulnerable when picking up a spear, I need to solve that
Quill looked at all his supplies and came up with an idea. He first skinned the newest addition to his collection of dead wolves, of course, not making the same mistakes as last time. In the process he learned the skinning skill. He was intrigued with skill but decided to leave it for now. The problem still needs to be solved. He cut a piece off the pelt and pierced holes around the edges of it. Then grabbing a thin yet long rope, he threaded it through the holes. He pulled the ends of the edges of the pelt went towards each other making the gap between them smaller.
“yep, it works”
What he was making is a bag for the javelins to go in. After putting a few javelins in, he tightened the opening, put one end of rope over his shoulder while the other one under and tied the ends together.
