"Rey!"
Vzzzt.
Vzzzzt.
Vzzzt.
Vzzzt. Beep.
A pulsing vibrating sound roused Rey up. As he woke up, he felt a throbbing pain emanating from his forehead. A metallic smell covers the small capsule he is currently in.
"Ugh."
A pained groan escapes his mouth. As his senses became clearer a flood of memories swept over him as he tried to understand where he was and what was happening.
Vzzzt.
Vzzzzt.
Vzzzt.
Vzzzt. Beep.
"Wake up, Rey!"
The sound was originating from the screen in front of him. He observes the screen and it was showing a man with curly hair and brown skin wearing an armor that consists of leather covered with overlapping pieces of metal, much like the scales of a fish. The man was looking at Rey with worry in his face.
"Maki? What about the others?"
Rey speaks with anger and worry mixed in his tone.
"They were all killed. I'm afraid this is where our legend ends."
He looks at Rey with sadness and regret in his face, he seems to have blamed himself for not being strong enough to defend their other friends.
"Maki, where am I right now?"
Maki looks at him and a faint smile appears in his face, He ponders on what to say to him.
"ANSWER ME, MAKI!"
He looks at him with anger and anxiousness, seconds passed and Maki finally opens his mouth and releases a sigh.
"Rey, a few hours ago…do you remember what happened?"
The throbbing pain in his head intensifies as fragments of memories start to piece together as he realizes what Maki was talking about. He looks at Maki with horror, and Maki nods to confirm what had happened.
"You and me were the only one to survive, and there was only one escape capsule left…"

Rey holds the wound on his forehead which was caused by Maki knocking him out and dragging his unconscious body in to the capsule.
"I'm sorry captain, but I've already put in measures so you can't escape that capsule. You should take this chance to escape."
"Maki?! A capsule could fit 2 people, why are you not coming with me?!"
"Cause I know you'd do the same thing I did."
Vzzzt.
Vzzzzt.
Vzzzt. Beep.
Vzzzt.
Silence filled the capsule as Maki's words read through Rey's hidden intention.
"Besides, I can't leave without getting my revenge, Can I?"
Maki then pulls out a battered shield out of thin air and grabs a sword that was outside the scope of the screen and shows it to Rey.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
As if on cue the doors behind Maki was being pummeled creating a deafening boom. The door withstood the monstrous bashing. Maki looked at the door with fear and anticipation he gripped the handle of his sword tightly and put his shield in front of him. Due to the intense bashing a small opening was created in between the two doors. The eyes of the monster peered through the opening, and its claws went in between the hole forcing the door open.
"Gal-graph-un-Gisg-na…."
"Demon tongue…"
He mumbles to himself, the fear he felt a while ago intensified.
"Looks like our guest is here."
Beep.
Maki presses a button outside of the screen, and light slowly started to encase the capsule which Rey was in. Maki looks at Rey through the screen and smiles at him, waving him goodbye.
"Hey! Don't do this, moron! That's a demon! That's far above us!"
His eyes become glossy but he didn't let his tears fall down. He looks at the screen intently, he could see Maki's back and the monster cautiously entering the room he was in.

The monster was bipedal with hooves instead of feet, two and a half meters tall and covered in what seemed to be like still burning ash. Smoke was coming off of him and bright embers flew out of his body whenever he moved. Its head was a skull of a ram and it was holding a spear made out of smoke.

"Abaddon…"
A name escaped from Rey's mouth unconsciously, a name given to it by humans. His body trembled, this demon only existed in legends and myths and yet it was here.
The light surrounding the capsule started to grow in intensity, the screen Rey was looking at began to flicker as the teleportation magic was interfering with the communication magic present in the the room where Maki was in.
The screen was flickering on and off showing the battle between Maki and the demon, He was overwhelmed instantly as the spear reached his chest piercing through his body and rupturing his heart. Maki falls limp, with a faint smile carved on his face knowing that his friend had already escaped.
The last scene that showed in the screen before it completely stopped was the demon looking at Rey and uttering something he could not understand.
"Or-med-van-drux-gal. . . . . . . GON-MED-VAN"
(Translation: https://imgur.com/a/fGJXJZl )
The demon then started laughing, with different voices mixed with each other like a child's giggle, a woman's laughter and a man's chuckling mixed into one creating a terrifying laughter until it stopped. The demon then imitated Maki's voice and proceeded to laugh even more mocking Rey.
Rey looked at the screen with grief and overwhelming anger. His fist collided with the screen, the glass broke and some pieces embedded themselves into his fists. The teleportation magic finishes activating, and the capsule vanished, the destination unknown.

Overgrowth
I never thought I'd be killed by butterflies. But here I am... Edmon Valli was a smuggler, before a freak storm threw him off course and stranded him on a desert island smack in the middle of an uncharted monster zone. Trying his best to survive, or possibly even escape, he stumbles across the find of a lifetime: an unclaimed dungeon crystal. This is a dungeon-ish story, but without reincarnation or transmigration. I started it as a whim for NaNoWriMo so I may drop it any time after that... or I might not. My current plan is to write until I can reach some sort of conclusion and call it 'volume one'. I hope someone enjoys reading it for now! All comments, corrections, and criticism welcome.
