Lynn stood next to Enna, both soaked in blood. It was Enna’s last mission. She would be retiring after this. She had wanted her last one to be special, so she had convinced Lynn to join her.
“I missed this, but it sucks they were monsters.” Lynn sighed as she gazed at all the corpses in the field. There were about a hundred of them, from wolves and predatory birds to displacement beasts and even a few small dragons.
Enna fiddled with one of her pockets, nervous about something, but she did not show her nervousness in her voice. “It’s because the barrier has rapidly shrunk the past few years. And the monsters are being forced from their territories.”
Lynn looked into the horizon, where she could see the reflection of the barrier. It was really close. Too close for her liking. She hated those things beyond the barrier, as much as she hated certain people.
Enna took a deep breath, attracting Lynn’s attention. Enna pulled a small box from her pocket and kneeled before Lynn. She presented the box, and peeled back the top. “Lynn Yue, would you marry me?”
Lynn was stunned. Her beautiful, blood soaked lover had proposed. Usually she did things like this, and Enna would just go with the flow. This had caught her off guard, but perhaps that was planned. She didn’t even have to think as tears streamed down her face, and she gave a radiant smile. She pulled Enna up into a hug. “Yes… yes, yes.”
“My commitment to you is one I give willingly, absolutely, and without hesitation. I am yours utterly and have been since the moment we met. We were married before this day, and will always be.”
Lynn was dressed in a black suit. The most formal set of clothing she had ever worn. She didn’t mind though, it was for Enna she wore it. She was even happier when she didn’t have to dress like Enna.

Enna was dressed in a white, flowing, wedding gown. She was gorgeous and Lynn couldn’t wait for what came after the wedding. Not that either of them needed a honeymoon, seeing as they are now both retired.
Enna kissed Lynn, who was daydreaming which was followed by a cheer. Their old mercenary friends were here, and a few of their friends and acquaintances that lived in town. It was a small wedding, held under the moon. There was no priest at the wedding, merely the leader of the mercenary guild; in fact Lynn had said she would kill any of the priesthood if they dared come.
Enna held her arms to Lynn, the signal Lynn had been waiting for. She picked up her bride and spun to face the crowd of friends. “Have fun at the party, but if you’ll excuse me and my lovely wife, we have to do what all newlyweds do the night of their wedding.”
They laughed and cheered as Lynn launched them through the darkness of the sky, towards their home.

Necromancer's Resolve
Foster Locke's life wasn't the harshest it could have been. But it wasn't the easiest either. Despite losing the last of his family and having immense debt thrown on him, getting the chance to keep practicing Martial Arts pulled away, and having a completely messed up sleep-schedule, he usually tried his best to stay positive to the outside world. Of course, that wasn't always possible, especially not when he was staring into the glowing eyes of a man-eating creature he had never heard of before. The glowing message-box that accompanied it wasn't much better either. Not to mention the fact that he was suddenly in a dark forest instead of the train station. This isn't a story of great anguish, inescapable peril, or heroic world-saving. Rather, it's one of a young man trying to get by in a world that seems to try his best to kill him. I hope you enjoy the read. --- Cover Image temporary [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Ghostified City
‘Ghostified City’ is a post-dystopian sci-fi tale, set in a fading world that might be a future version of ours, running out on autopilot into oblivion. Adaman Yimmand is a simple robofactory operator in The City who's working with robots and machines every day. He doesn’t even realise that he might not have met another actual human being in years. Everything begins when he breaks his routine for once and enters a bar where he meets Evelith. This pesky other person does not let him go after he has had his -rather terrible- beer, because according to her actual humans are much rarer than he’s aware of. And from then on ‘the genie is out of the bottle and won’t get back in’, to use her words: Adaman meets more people, and gradually he has no choice but to accept that the reality of The City is not what he always thought it was, and to face the darkness of a fading humanity on the brink of self-inflicted extinction. Is there any hope left for him, and for his species? I have selected 'sexual content' and 'traumatising content' to be on the safe side, because there is a stripclub-like venue in the background of the story, and an almost-extinct humanity that has institutionalised suicide which might be disturbing to some. Apart from that it's not really a heavy 'adult' story.('Ghostified City' is my first long story in English as opposed to my native language Dutch, and an earlier version was published on my fiction blog 'Oranderra' until I stopped updating. This is a slightly altered version of the first series.)

The Underbelly
There's something wrong with Port City. In the aftermath of the Hyde Park massacre, the city increased its police force dramatically, and Wyatt Milter found himself in uniform, with a gun, a badge, and dreams of someday making detective, but with no clue how to actually make it happen. These days a new, ugly kind of violence is rising on the streets. As a bizarre group of characters emerges from Port City's underbelly, Wyatt will be forced into making a difficult decision. Will he remain a cop? Or will he serve a different kind of justice? (Author's Note: I started writing this about 10 years ago and only now got around to the idea of uploading it. As a result, much of this predates the rising popularity of the Green Arrow. I'm uploading as is, but future drafts will make minor alterations to the character to differentiate it.)
