Falling really was exhilarating. She should do this for fun sometime. The plane was a lot more aerodynamic than Hun in all her gear, so it hit the ground first. Parachutes help too. Liuxing pulled the cord, and the sudden force of air resistance on a parachute jolted her. Decelerating quickly and near the ground, she could see the chaos and property damage that her plane had caused. It put the city in a state of panic, which was exactly what she needed. The plane crash killed no-one, or at least it was intended to be safe. Liuxing complimented herself on her aiming. She slammed directly through the large pane of glass on the front of the bank. Hun's instincts turned on. Twelve gaurds. All armed, with garbage Engle handguns. They wouldn't be able to hit her until she neared fifty meters of them, and if they landed a shot beforehand the crappy rounds would have already slowed down to a bruising speed. She slung the long bullpup assault rifle from her shoulder and aimed through the recently fitted three-times magnification scope at the nearest guard's chest and squeezed the trigger like a good friend. The first shot landed where the heart was and would have been lethal minus the armor. The stupid high velocity of the round and high weight punched him like a Mamasha bodybuilder in a mecha-suit. Liuxing had already thought past this though. Her weapon was in high RPM 4 round burst. A standard assault rifle's fire rate in fully automatic is ten rounds a second. This was double in half the time. Forty rounds a second. The only catch and safety at the same time is that it was one burst. The second round landed in the inner shoulder, dislocating it and breaking the collarbone. The third pierced the poor man's artery located in his neck. This caused severe blood loss, but wasn' the worst to come. The finish was upon us. The final high velocity FMJ went straight through his eye, and destroyed his brain stem. All of it took place took place in a tenth of a second. Liuxing saw all this in slow motion and was surprised at her aerial marksmanship. Wait, no. It was an omen. All will go well against these heretics. She scared all of the guards with that and most of them dropped their weapons in surrender. Heh. They forgot it's a bad idea to drop weapons. A couple went off in their owners immediate vicinity and injured them or the surrounding civilians. Wait for that court marshall. Liuxing thought as she switched her Yifa to semi. The four round burst was just to be on the safe side when testing for armor. It was good timing, as this was the moment her boots hit the ground. I guess the guards took this as a good time to start wildly firing in her direction. Liuxing couldn't give them the chance, so she took cover to remove her parachute. She did it slowly and carefully, to avoid damage to her equipment. When she was done, a pair of footsteps sprinted toward her location. How brave. Liuxing needed close range stopping power, so she slung her rifle. She whipped her CV from its quickdraw holster and practically jumped to her feet. The red dot sight trained on the brave man's unprotected knees, Hun pulled the one stage of the two stage trigger. The round shattered his knee beyond repair in a moment. The guard began to fall and register the pain when Liuxing pulled the second stage of the trigger. She had adjusted upwards to make the shot as perpendicular to his helmet as possible. She didn't even have to try to see whether he was dead. The mess 12mm caused was enough already. Normally, firing two rounds this fast with a handgun of this caliber could have broken her hand, but the spare magazine as a stabilizer for her left hand took a bit over a third of the force from her other hand. By now all the guards had surrendered. They kicked their weapons across the smooth floor. For extra reassurance, Hun fired two separate rounds into nearby valuables, like old vases and the like. This put more fear into the civilians. Liuxing remembered that Right now, they just think this is just the most perfectly planned robbery in 90 years. She spoke to the people "Put pressure on his wound." A civilian dying right now would mess up the whole plan, so she allowed the man to obtain the nearby med kit. All because some smart guy dropped his gun. The metal plating on the sides of her helmet and the sound specific muters on her ears allowed just enough sound cancellation to allow a guard that was near the entrance to be right behind her.

Waking Up
The story of Larin the Builder in the aftermath of Awakening This short story is the epilogue of Awakening, the first book of the Chronicles of Mother's Gate series. This epilogue is a great follow-up to the novel, a bonus story that adds extra layers between books without being necessary to the main storyline.Waking Up follows the story of Larin, who is alive but unconscious after her ordeal in the Nine Hells. She awakens in A'lara City a few days later and recuperates under the steadfast care of her repentant friend Jorn.As she reacclimates to her waking state, Larin struggles with her gruesome memories of the Hells and her decision to conceal them from Jorn. This story answers the question, Is Larin all right? with a resounding yes, and some storms on the horizon. It also raises the question, What happened to her down there? and includes an excerpt from the sister story Falling Down, about Larin's ordeal in the Nine Hells. Praise for Waking Up and Falling Down: Loved it. The difference between the two stories is great! The difference between Waking Up and Falling Down is astounding. So much light and love in the first story. You feel safe reading it. Healing. The second, so much darkness, pain and despair. The choice of vocabulary is awesome and makes an impact. And this set of short stories ties the two books together so well.-- Dana V. of Texas ★★★★★
