《Survival Story Of A Swordsman In A Post-Apocalyptic World》Chapter 14

A day had passed since the battle and all are well and smoothly working as intended. The landscape had been fixed to at least a pleasurable degree thanks to Johan's ability to manipulate the earth.
At the time when the explosion happened. All the crops, animals, and the whole field have been pulverized. But since they saved a portion of those things. They simply have to start all over again. This time, with no guns pointing at them.
The family of the lord of this land is taken custody of by the people and kept safe and well. They are grieving and sad for their loss but trying to get by and distract themselves with the help of those that caused such grief. The wife although saddened has been trying her best to distract her sons from their father's absence while the daughter, as of currently has been in a room with her father's corpse and weeping.
Moments later as she's mourning. Yohan entered with a tray of food.
"Why are you here?" She said with a voice full of resentment.
"You haven't eaten since yesterday. And also. I heard it is your birthday today, congrats." Yohan said with a calm voice.
He walked forward to her, put down the tray onto the floor, and sits in seiza position.
"I don't need that." She replied with anger.
"You see… I only have grudge against your father. Not you or any of your other family members. I might have done a grave sin against you but I simply did what has to be done. But whether you forgive me or not is up to you."
"Of course I wouldn't forgive you. None of us will!"
"I know. But know that I'm very sorry for what I did. Well. Let me ask your name first." His voice changed into a little excited when he asked. "At least let me know your name. I don't have any bad intentions. I won't hurt you or anything."

"Mary." She mumbled. Her long, yellow hair and eyes as she said that immediately captivated Yohan.
"Nice name. But still, you have to eat."
"I won't eat that. Not from somebody like you."
"You'll die from starvation."
"I don't care."
"Hey. I took your happiness. So it's only right to give you something new."
"Huh?! Just get out of here alright? I don't want to see you! Get this food away! I don't want that!"
"But this is your favorite. Fried chicken, wasn't it?"
"Just get out of my sight!" She then picked up the tray and threw it across the room.
"I cooked that..."
"Why do I care?!" She screamed as she turned herself towards Yohan
"Fine. If I can't talk to you nicely. I'll stop. But first. I want to know. How far will you go for your hatred against me? Will you want to attain the power to kill me personally? Or have others do it for you?" Yohan's voice suddenly became as cold as ice. However. Mary's burning hatred is unfazed by that at all.
"I will kill you personally! I'll come back here after I got the power necessary and kill you on my own!"
"Too bad. That won't happen. It won't work even if you were to be a few levels higher than now. I'll always be superior to you."
"You can't say that so easily! I promise you! I'll kill you someday!"
"Okay. Get stronger. I'll wait." He then gently grabbed her chin and kissed her gently. At that moment her mind went blank. When she regained herself, she blushed lightly and saw that Yohan is already by the door. "Oh, I'll have someone bring you food later. Please don't throw a tantrum again or you'll die of hunger." After finishing his words he hastily left with a cold expression on his face.

Back at the village.
The trees are shattered and cuts are made everywhere. It was evident that a fight is happening, however. Not a serious one.
"What's the matter? Giving up already?" Souji casually said whilst holding his sword without bothering to get his guard up. He looks so neat with no visible sweat anywhere on his face.
"No, I'm not…" Takeshi replied and continued panting for a few more seconds while drenched in sweat all over. He holds a sword in his right hand and sparks of lightning continuously appeared on his body at random intervals. He picked himself up and a sword made of lightning magic manifested on his left hand and dashed towards Souji. The two exchanged blows and even though Takeshi uses two blades. Souji is fast enough to intercept both separately.
Their blades clashed but Takeshi could not land a good hit whatsoever and is being thrashed around by Souji. The two met yesterday when Souji's given a tour by Alexander around the village when he could properly get up and walk. Takeshi was away when the monsters attacked and hastily goes back to the village to help but it was finished. Seeing that Souji's carrying a sword. Takeshi asked if he's a good swordsman and asked if Souji could help train him as nobody in the village could help him hone his swordsmanship and paying someone to do so is very expensive and hence the current scene as of the moment.
Yesterday too was when the group of soldiers gave the Alpha monster's corpse to them and the chief is currently arranging for when it would be sold to help the village's expenses. However. That's not the only thing they did. They also took a sample of Souji's blood since they are having suspicions about him. They said that they have to conduct a blood test to prove that he's a human.
"Let's start all over again. You want to learn my technique? Then you better be prepared for a hell of a training." Souji smirked.
"I'm prepared. Souji." Takeshi's blue eyes narrowed and swiped back his blue slightly long hair.
The two continued their training and moments later they're finished.
Although Takehi is beaten up. It was not severe. He simply has a few bruises and slight cuts. Souji made sure to not hurt him too much during their session.
Takeshi fell on his knees while looking up at a tree branch where Souji"s sitting.
"It's… good. I learned a… few things from that."
"That's good then. Let's end it for today. But let me ask. Why do you want to learn my technique and get stronger?"
"I… want to kill the bastards that killed my father. Also. We're going to be soldiers in three months." Takeshi said with such hatred
"What? Why would you become one? Weren't these soldiers become fodders for monsters?"
"Not quite. We're not going to be soldiers right away. We're first going to a military academy where we would learn first and hone our abilities there. Those who died are simply unlucky."
"Alexander showed me many things yesterday. Indeed. This world is better than ours. But at the same time is worse. You people have to sacrifice and die to push back the inevitable force of destructions like these monsters. While in mine, we destroy ourselves and kill our brethren. Do you believe that I came from a different world?"
"Maybe. But these abilities of yours prove it more and more. You don't even need to have a suit to overpower me who uses one." Takeshi's eyes narrowed.

Matt, Blake, Jen, and Carl: the four mysterious companions, who together had deposed an insane ruler and saved countless lives, were gone—spirited back in a whirlwind of magic to a sleepy suburb in Mellbridge, Oregon, never to return. The friends found themselves home in the real world, exactly as they'd been the night they were taken, as if no time had passed... except only three came back. Hi there! This was my entry for National Novel Writing Month, because why only write one series at a time? The more the merrier! (meanwhile, my keyboard bursts into flames...) I'm also the writer of The Last Science, an ongoing low-fantasy/speculative sci-fi series. If you're familiar with that, you know what to expect here: lots of character-focused drama and dialogue, not a whole lot of traditional action. However, I'm writing a bit differently than usual here, and in a very different structure, so there should be some surprises for returning readers. I hope you enjoy it! [Discord] — for those of you who want to hang out and chat. Cover art (fullsize): Path of Revelation, by taenaron (Tobias Roetsch), modified by Etzoli. Normally I like to do my own cover art from scratch, but I was in a rush for the contest. Might be replaced down the line if I get time. Breached Earth (Human Core)
A dungeon core, accidentally transported from its world and stranded on Earth. Dean, a young Australian man who stumbles across it and has his life changed forever. For the core’s arrival on Earth has set in motion events that threaten the lives of every living thing. And, with even the planet itself at risk, he has been called on to act. This is a PRE-apocalypse progression fantasy story set in the real world. Contains elements of litRPG. Constructive criticism, suggestions, and ideas are all welcome! :) [The dungeon elements are minimal, so if that is your main attraction, maybe give this story a miss :) ]

The General Core {The Sphere}
The life cycle in the Sphere is on the brink of collapse because one of its elements, the Dungeons, have been exploited too much by the mortals. The group who created the Sphere already tried and failed with several modifications, because the original computer-like dungeon cores are too inflexible to handle changing approaches. So they try another type of solution – taking souls from other worlds to try to find a solution before the Sphere Cycle breaks down completely. The General was one of the best soldiers of his world, rising from the ranks of a private through Officer School to the highest command with honors. But when his world faced a zombie apocalypse, even that was not enough and he had to make the ultimate sacrifice. Now he is asked for a repeat performance of planning and controlling a dungeon and its spawns in a world that he knows nothing about… But what is the Sphere really? What is that [Xenotic conversion] he has to go through to even enter the Sphere? Something is really strange and he will have to find out what is going on to get to his promised rewards – whatever they will be. Being a soul in a dungeon core means that the General has better chances of finding hints to the truth about the sphere – a knowledge that would help him survive. And no, the sphere is NOT a virtual reality – the key to its secrets is the place where it was physically constructed (Author’s hint). This is a dungeon core story - but there are quite a number of things that I will do differently than common to those stories. 1) I will describe the floors when they are explored, NOT when they are build. Yes, that will mean it will take longer to get to those parts - but I think describing floors both when they are build and when they are explored destroys quite a lot of chances for suspense when adventurers enter the dungeon. After all, if you as the reader already know where the traps are, then you can't really be surprised when the surfacers encounter them. 2) How the world works (and how not) is an integral part of the story, so it will be explained I'm a world-builder first and the Sphere is NOT a regular world (as hinted in the synopsis above). Things will work differently than in your 08/15 default dungeon core stories - as the General and Gunny have already learned in the second arc (and more of that is already scheduled for the next weeks (July/Aug 2019) when the Sky Arrows continue to explore and evaluate that strange dungeon) If you don't like these premises, then I'm sure you'll find a lot of other Dungeon Core stories more to your liking. But if you are interested in more than "Dungeon builds another room and corridor in medieval earth" and are not afraid of a longer and slower story, then go on. I have two more stories in the Sphere, although they both have lower priority than this one: Shaleen the Wanderer (Adventurer, NSFW) (currently on hold after some chapters) Info's on the Sphere (System Docu and Short Stories) (irregular updates when needed) Current Status reports have been moved to a new discord server: https://discord.gg/EaHkXCfm9y

From beyond The Veil
Witnesses say that the angels blaze appeared back in the eighties. A dazzling light ripped through the sky all across the world. People say they saw a rainbow of colors bathing the sky. It was gone in a instant. Some legends say that it was an angel falling from the sky. But most scholars agree that it was a rare comet. They all were wrong. The light was a breaking of the veil, the veil to my world. Now creatures from my side of the veil are breaking through and it's my job to keep them back and protect all the humans. But I tend to like to watch the chaos.
