《Summoner of the Storm》Ch. 12. Breakout Battle

"Where did that dragon come from??"
"Nevermind where it came from. Let us charge too, while the dragon is occupying their main force."
"CHARGE!"
Deathwing's suicidal charge by diving into the army of revived corpses was very heroic. Cataclysm's burning flames disrupted their formation, but the killing power of cataclysm is still too low, only killing the minionlike kubrows. After slamming into the army of corpses, Deathwing rampaged in their formation with his gargantuan body that is not inferior to the outpost's main fortifications.
The aforementioned dragon lunged forward with its huge body, slamming itself on the monsters with 'onslaught'. After that, it flapped its wings, buffeting all the enemies around it with 'incinerate'. Sometimes, it slams its claw on the ground, and a group of monsters soon found themselves trapped in a molten pool of lava, 'lava burst'. Before the monsters can organize a well planned counter attack against it, the dragon would twist the ground with its claws, breaking the ground in front of it, creating 2 lines of fissures that travels forward, from the sky, it is shaped like a V, and whomever in the path of the fissure is stunned. Finally, whenever a group of enemies have lowered their guard, Deathwing would soon follow up with dragonbreath, his bread and butter killing ability that is being upgraded by Fan Wuji.
The charge of the soldiers and students were led by the volt cultivators, as they are also able to carry their Electric shields while also able to buff movement and attack speeds. Behind them are Excaliburs, Rhinos, and Banshee.
The capacitor ability of Volt cultivators are very powerful, especially their initial impact. Behind them are the rhinos with roar ability. Roar is a damage increase buff that affects everyone in range. Banshee has silence and sonar abilities, which can distract the enemies with deafness and detect weakpoints among them respectively. As for the Excaliburs, they are exceptionally powerful for their rank, able to compete and sometimes defeat stronger monsters than them, especially when they use their strongest ability Exalted Blade. Exalted Blade allows their attacks to produce sword qi which can attack enemies from range. The excalibur with Exalted Blade is truly indeed a very fearsome opponent, and even after almost 8,000 years of existence, it still is the most cost efficient manual to train under.
The two groups of adversaries impacted with each other and the humans from the outpost first gained the upper hand. The initial impact of their skills and the surprising assistance from Deathwing gave them the advantage. But after almost a minute of intense fighting, the intense outburst of humans proved insufficient against the relentless horde of enemies. Even with losing more than 10% of their numbers, the monster horde still continued forward, disregarding their dead comrades. When the soldiers were almost able to eliminate almost 20% of the undead army, their human counterparts in Hydrangea along with their Ruined King Soulbeasts soon appeared to finish them off. Also, Deathwing left after 45 seconds of intense fighting, for his body was full of wounds and he needs to recuperate for the meantime. His dragonflight ability allowed him to disappear from the battle and return to the beast guarding space. His departure also heralded the counterattack of the enemy side.
With the cover of sandstorm from Inaros manual's ability. The Nekros' with their sharp slashing weapons appeared to butcher the frontline of the soldiers. Most of these Nekroses are armed with long barbed whips called atterax, their favorite weapon. Disregarding their summoned army, these madmen swung their whips with wild abandon, slaughtering friend and foe alike, harvesting resources from the dead soldiers who werent able to defend themselves. The Nekros' ability desecrate allows them to harvest resources from the bodies of their kills, and it works for each body part, meaning they can also cut the bodies of their enemies so they can have more resources, and thats the reason why they have a preference for slashing weapons.

Meanwhile, the ruined king soulbeasts from Hydrangea appeared near the defenseless students who were behind the main force. Seeing that the fight is already going bad for their side, Guo Yufan finally commanded everyone to summon their soulbeasts, even the students.
"Damn, these insidous Hydrangea! They must have been planning this from the start."
Guo Yufan cursed as he saw some of the ruined king soulbeasts ignored the strong soulbeasts as they hunted down the weaker soulbeasts of the students. The lanky bodies of the ruined king are very fast, and they can go even faster when travelling in their harrowing mists, and those who werent blocked by a silver summoners soulbeast were having a good time hunting down the infant soulbeasts of the students.
Some of these ruined king's tried to take down Ragnaros but Fan Wuji was fast as he blocked it with his own body by moving to it with Surging fist. Thankfully for Ragnaros, Fan Wuji kept protecting him with a low cooldown Surging fist, courtesy of taking the Uppercut card which reduces the cooldown of surging fist to only 5 seconds upon hitting an enemy hero. There were two ruined king's who tried hunting down Ragnaros, but Fan Wuji kept them at bay with his bulk and tonnage. You have to know, his strength has increased by not a small amount, and he is also supported by Abathur and Ragnaros.
The ruined king with his lean body dashed forward with its body, but Fan Wuji unscientifically moved in front of it, and he even retaliated with his palm which combined the powers of shadowflame and consuming blaze. The next ruined king saw an opening, but Fan Wuji, who now has gotten a hang of his own abilities, easily controlled his own body to instantly dash forward with surging fist, barely registering any windup. He easily knocked the ruined king away and even reapplied another stack of consuming blaze on it, recovering some of his health. He is already very thankful for his advantages now, even though he cant compare to the outbreak of the other cultivators, but he can surely outlast everyone else when it comes to endurance. He kept spamming shadowflame, dread orb, rune bomb and rune blast on cooldown and even against 3 bronze ruined kings, he was somewhat relaxed.
Until, an even stronger silver ranked ruined king arrived. It first observed how Fan Wuji positioned himself in a place where he can easily stop the three, and behind him is Ragnaros who kept speeding him up with Blast wave whenever a ruined king tries to get past him.
Near Fan Wuji, there is already a dead Ruined king, and it surely wont be the last. Fan Wuji took advantage of its inattention by unloading all of his power on it, instantly killing it before it can recover its life force by attacking with its sword. You have to know, the ruined king's stamina is also exceptionally good for it can use its sword to steal the life force of its opponents.
In the end, the silver ranked ruined king soon decided to enter the fight and went straight for Fan Wuji instead. It knew that as soon as it stopped Fan Wuji, they will be able to complete their mission of killing the enemy soulbeasts. Moreover, once Fan Wuji's soulbeast is dead, he wont have any choice but to join Hydrangea like its master in order to stay a summoner, and it grew excited for his master might reward him well once a genius like Fan Wuji is forced into joining.
It swooped forward and struck Fan Wuji with a thrust and tried to hold him down by putting a sword on his throat. The ruined king thought he is able to stun Fan Wuji, but unlucky for him, Fan Wuji has gained an improved version of Unstoppable, and he cannot be held down anymore. Fan Wuji disregarded the enemy's attempted tactic and used consuming blaze to also make this guy into another blood bank. You have to remember, applying consuming blaze restores some of Fan Wuji's life force and whenever he uses ogre force to hit an enemy debuffed with consuming blaze, he reapplies another stack of consuming blaze on it, and whenever a stack of consuming blaze is reapplied, it also restores the same amount of life force. Not to mention, Abathur also has carapace, which not only gives shields to the target of symbiote, but also regenerates some health for them as long as the shield isnt destroyed.

Fan Wuji has also observed this silver ruined king for some time. You have to know, with eye of Kilrogg and Abathur's help, nothing can get past Fan Wuji's perception, yet.
Fan Wuji, after using consuming blaze, slapped the silver ranked ruined king in the face. It looked very surprised for things seemed different than what it thought. Along with the slap is a purple shadowflame and it soon awakened from its stupor as it got hit by Fan Wuji's attack. It got annoyed and retaliated by slashing its blade on Fan Wuji's neck. Fan Wuji blocked its attacked with his forearm and used his other arm to punch its shoulder. With Fan Wuji distracted by the silver rank, the others tried to get past Fan Wuji again, but Fan Wuji, after punching the enemy's shoulder, used Shove to reposition himself to ensure his surging fist collides against two ruined kings. After that, Ragnaros applied blast wave on him, making him catch up with the last one. After that, he slapped the last one with shadowflame and threw a rune bomb and used rune blast at point blank range, killing this enemy who has been severely weakened already. Fan Wuji then didnt forgot to refresh the stack of consuming blaze on the two ruined kings, who just now were slightly dazed after being knocked back by surging fist.
Looking at Fan Wuji again, the silver rank soulbeast imprinted the poor appearance of Fan Wuji in his mind. Never mind his torn clothes and rather small size, but his eyes were really greedy, and his posture and stance was full of confidence. Behind him are a group of soulbeasts and summoners who kept helping him from time to time. It smiled creepily, thinking that it has already struck the jackpot.
Three more bronze ranks and two more silver rank ruined kings soon went in and tried to take down Fan Wuji and Ragnaros.
All in all, there were five bronzes, three silvers and only one Ragnaros, one Eggface and one Zhao Yang helping him. Even though most of the kids have not done any type of cultivation, most of them are still fit enough to protect themselves and will need only a year to get started into cultivating. As citizens of Xiguang, they need to be prepared to be deployed anytime to the frontline in order to eliminate soulbeasts. That is the plight of the ordinary sons and daughters of Xiguang.
Fan Wuji is now barely able to keep up with the enemy as he now has more than ten enemies. With the addition of three bronzes and one silver ruined king, the pressure on Fan Wuji is already staggering, as his life force is now dwindling little by little as his recovery is not able to keep up with the numbers of enemies. Unlike molten core Ragnaros or Deathwing, Fan Wuji still lacks their durability. Ragnaros has a great amount of tonnage and regeneration while Deathwing has 8 stacks of armor plating, greatly reducing the damage he receives while at full health or so.
Suddenly, another silver ruined king came in, but as it tried to attack Ragnaros, Fan Wuji swooped in just in time to deflect the blow. Unluckily, the sword it used flew and hit Eggface while she was airborne.
"Eggface! Nooooo!"
"Damn it!"
Fan Wuji roared in grief. Even tho with the help of two cores who kept using whirlwind around him, he was still very stressed by the pressure while fighting against 10 opponents who greatly outrank him. No matter how good he is, it still wasnt able to prevent the accident from happening. The blade buried itself into Eggface, draining her life force and turning her into a soul of the harrowing.
The fight has been going on a for a long time now, and finally, something good happened for the soldiers. Everyone can already hear the sound of rotating turbines. It was small, but the noise gave hope to the humans. Their reinforcements will soon arrived.
Zhao Yang shed tears as she hugged the unresponsive body of Eggface. Meanwhile, the ruined kings, monsters and Hydrangea agents were like rats on a sinking ship as they did all that they could in order to get out of the battlefield. They knew that no matter how strong the air supremacy of the humans were, it still won't be able to cover the primeval sprawling forests of Earth Prime. So they aim to escape in the cover of the undergrowth, every man or monster for himself. In any case, they have already done their agenda, and have planted the seeds of hatred in the hearts of the students whose soulbeasts have died.
Meanwhile, the ruined king whose sword was released has already retrieved it back, but he still was not able to get away from the crazed Fan Wuji. Without caring whether its a plot or an accident, Fan Wuji's eyes were too red and his mind was too bent on chasing down this silver soulbeast, as he ignored everything else on the battlefield. Alongside Fan Wuji is Ragnaros whom he has been protecting all along.
Fan Wuji followed the ruined king inside a small grotto, where he also met its owner, an Inaros cultivator with two refinements. The Inaros manual has a lot of tonnage and they are usually called the immortal for they can still revive themselves with their opponents life force even in death. The only way for them to truly die is to annihilate their bodies, not even leaving a drop of blood.
"Well, well, well, I see you have brought me a guest, Virgil. Oh, what is this soulbeast? Its the first time I have seen of it. What a good catch! Today must be my lucky day."
The cultivator said as he licked his lips, not taking into account Fan Wuji's rage. What can an iron rank even do to him? An Inaros with two refinements.
"Hand over Eggface's soul, you bastard."
Fan Wuji angrily challenged as he and Ragnaros faced off with the man and his soulbeast. The man just laughed as he licked the blood on his dagger. The man is carrying a weapon called a ceramic dagger, and it has three refinements. With it, the man is not afraid of any enemy below platinum. He has killed about two soldiers in the battle just now, and his bloodlust is still not sated. He decided that this guy and his soulbeast will be his final prey before going under the radar.
He knew that Fan Wuji being able to keep up with Virgil is not a fluke so he know he must be a cultivator. And not an ordinary one too, for even if his clothes are too damaged, it must only mean that his body must be tyrannical. The remaining thing he has noticed is that the boy is fearless, and he tried to do some simple movements with his left hand. Seeing that Fan Wuji only looked at him as if he was crazy, the man laughed for he now understood Fan Wuji's level of knowledge.
"Hahaha!"
The man smiled as he finally did the first attack. He sprayed sand from his left hand into Fan Wuji's face. He was just bluffing Fan Wuji just know, but what he did'nt expect was that Fan Wuji does'nt even know what he is about to do, so he just did the most direct and cost effective way for him to take down an opponent. While cursing Fan Wuji and his nine generations for being too foolish in his mind, he approached Fan Wuji in order to finish him off with his dagger.
The man was dumbfounded as he found that Fan Wuji was still looking at him, while Fan Wuji was the same as he also expected something more from the enemy. Both sides spent a moment looking like retards checking out each other, but after that, they then dashed at each other. They collided brutally, the Inaros, proud of his bulk, and Fan Wuji, with the body of Cho, the symbiote of Abathur, and the blast wave of Ragnaros. The buffs barely made Fan Wuji stand equal with the Inaros, greatly shocking the other man, mentally and physically.
Meanwhile, Ragnaros also faced off against the ruined king soulbeast of the enemy. Normally, a silver rank would have three soulbeasts, but thankfully, the enemy lost his two other soulbeasts in the war just now. If Lil' Ragnaros were to fight against three, he can only sweat coldly and run first.
After slamming into each other, Fan Wuji punched the man in the stomach, while the man also stabbed his dagger into Fan Wuji's shoulders. The man inserted the dagger into Fan Wuji, but it also gave Fan Wuji the chance to grab the man's waist as he ignited himself with Shadowflame and Consuming Blaze. While the two's bodies were entwined, Ragnaros was barely keeping up with his Sulfuras against the enemy's swordplay. As the four were too engrossed in the battle, something happened in the depths of the grotto, the ground suddenly bulged and cracks were made in the floor, disturbing the tranquil aura of the small underground river beneath the grotto.
A gout of flames appeared from the depths of the cracked ground. In order to make their plan even more foolproof, Fan Wuji even brought out Deathwing, and the dragon is seen in the underground river below, breathing fire into the grotto from the hole. The advantages of immunity to friendly fire is very beneficial to Fan Wuji right now. Now, the enemy Inaros and Ruined King can only suffer from Deathwing's flames while Fan Wuji can only feel the increase in temperature, which by the way, is a rather comfortable side effect for him.
Deathwing's ability dragonflight allows him to appear in any place magically, even underground. His appearance disturbed the balance of the battle above, turning the fight into Fan Wuji's favor. Fan Wuji and the Inaros cultivator fought crazily with their fists and dagger. Thanks to the fighting style of the ogre, Fan Wuji maintained a good lead as he and the Inaros engaged in an endurance battle, the Inaros sucking out Fan Wuji's life force while Fan Wuji ignites the Inaros in order to regenerate his own life force. Thanks to the symbiote of Abathur, the dual attributes of Cho'Gall and the assistance of Deathwing from underground, he was able to somewhat fight with the powerful silver rank Inaros cultivator who can threaten even gold ranks with the Ceramic dagger.
A master of close combat, the Inaros was surprised with how Fan Wuji kept up with him. He has been very industrious in practicing his dagger skills, to the point where he has even discarded ranged weapon techniques in order to improve his melee skills to a higher level. With no other weapon on him, his reliance on the dagger will birth a murderous intent that will improve his confidence and strike fear into his enemies' hearts.
His murderous intent, when combined with the Inaros manual's durability and life force, is a very deadly combination. The innate willpower of an Inaros cultivator is inherently stubborn and only with that stubborn determination will they be able complete the harsh training, training which a person with a weaker will cannot survive.
Fan Wuji's fists are blazing with purple shadowflames as he threw attack after attack on the Inaros. Not only that, the Inaros is also blazing with red fire, making him look like a demon from hell, but don't be mistaken, the red flames also came from Fan Wuji. What belongs to the Inaros are the countless sand particles which revolve around him, forming a powerful armor. The Inaros found out that Fan Wuji seemed to be immune to his control skills, so he just went all out in armoring himself with scarab armor and fight to consume Fan Wuji in an endurance match.
At first, he kept exchanging blow for blow, swinging his dagger and wounding Fan Wuji with his dagger at every chance, but he discovered that the red fire which set him ablaze seemed to make Fan Wuji recover fast, so he stopped exchanging flesh for bone and tried to dodge Fan Wuji's attacks, but to his dismay, he discovered that the attacks of Fan Wuji cannot be dodged at all.
Fan Wuji's blow landed on his chest, the purple flames spouting from Fan Wuji's hand bit on his flesh, releasing a burning stench. The man forcibly stabbed Fan Wuji again, burying his dagger in Fan Wuji's gut. This time, the stab went deeper than normal, but it also triggered a stronger counterattack from Fan Wuji's passive tank synergy. The force broke the man's grip, and prevented him from drawing the dagger out of Fan Wuji.
Fan Wuji took the blow and this time, he used shove to escape from the man's reach. Without his dagger to threaten Fan Wuji, the man can only try to chase him in order to get his dagger back. Fan Wuji, after escaping, used surging fist to attack the Ruined king. He knocked the ruined king straight into the hole made by deathwing, and the dragon also used the opportunity to use earth shatter and lava burst, stunning the ruined king and creating a pool of lava to slow it down as he winds up his stomach in order to use dragon breath.
When the Ruined king finally recovered his consciousness, he found himself trapped in a pool of lava, greatly slowing him down. He only heard the scream of his owner in his last moments as he finally noticed the fierce flames that are being spat out of the dragon's mouth.
"VIRGIL!! NOOO!"
With assistance from the exhausted Ragnaros, Fan Wuji was able to engage the man in a slow brawl to the death. With the powerful blast wave that kept appearing from time to time, the man was being consumed bit by bit for Fan Wuji's other bonuses are not to be trifled with. Counterattack damage, Cho'Gall's amazing resilience and strength, Abathur's timely assistance and Deathwing's support from time to time, the man was consumed to the death and his body was soon incinerated after that. Fan Wuji and company discovered after 30 minutes of fighting that the man can revive himself as long as he has a drop of blood remaining. Ragnaros almost died to his life force sucking ability, but thankfully, Abathur's symbiote was timely and was switched to Ragnaros, saving him at near death. After that, Fan Wuji just brought the man's body to Deathwing's hole while he and Ragnaros stayed away from the man's body. They left deathwing to consume the man's life force entirely. The Inaros manual is a hungry ghost, but its appetite proved no match to the crazy regeneration and recovery rate of Deathwing. Deathwing's armor at full health is nigh invincible, and his regeneration from the first card is phenomenal, the Inaros was not even able to gather a sufficient amount of life force from deathwing as the dragon finally consumed him to the death. Against a fast regenerating ,tough, adamantine bone like deathwing, he never had a chance to make a comeback.
After sending Deathwing and Ragnaros to the guarding space, Fan Wuji took the sword of the ruined king and went out of the grotto to return to the group.

Tales From the Terran Republic
We tried, you know… We really did. We tried so hard to be… better… We actually were better once. No, seriously. We were enlightened, generous, peaceful… Stop laughing! We were! We were peaceful, dammit! No, I’m not “tugging your winglets.” It’s true! Look, if you’re going to be like that, I’ll just push the launch button right now. See ya, don’t wanna be… Oh, you ARE interested after all? Ok. Hey, I just got word that your captain will be ok. We were able to get him into a med pod quick enough… Of course, we tried to save him. Just what sort of people do you think we are?... Now that was harsh… completely accurate, mind you… but harsh. Anyway, like I was saying, we were a prosperous, peaceful people, and war had been nothing but a distant memory for over five hundred years before it happened... Before Yellowstone happened! You don’t mean to tell me that you didn’t know about that… massive supervolcano? Blew the Hell out of our planet? Two years where nothing grew?… Anyway, that’s what started it, the Sol Wars… Oh, you have heard about those, huh? Well, needless to say, all that enlightened, generous, and peaceful didn’t exactly make it through the two years of complete famine and the wars that followed… Maybe it’s more accurate to say the enlightened, generous, and peaceful among us didn’t survive… (laughs)… You’re right. It does explain a lot, doesn’t it? Probably for the best, though. “Enlightened” and “peaceful” aren’t really all that useful out here in the galaxy at large, are they? That reminds me; thanks for the ship. You guys did a great job with this one. Oh, don’t be like that. At least it was us what got you and not one of the really messed groups like the Harlequin or the Black Angels. We’re just going to take your shit. It could be worse… trust me... Well, anyway, we loaded the life pods down with some good food, and you guys can drink alcohol, right? We put in a couple of fifths in there, too. It’s about forty percent ethanol, so be warned. Most species will want to dilute that. We’ll drop your wounded off somewhere safe once they are stable. Your fleet patrols this area fairly regularly, and we’ll drop the distress beacon right before we jump… Well, It’s been fun and no hard feelings, right?… Oh, you want to know some more? Sure. I got time to kill… Let me tell you about this one pirate and her crew. They’re Terran scum, but they are still… Why do we hate the Terrans? Hoo Boy… How much time you got? *** It’s the thirty-second century, and humanity is now part of a galactic civilization comprised of hundreds of worlds. Humanity has been savaged by natural disaster and war and has been fractured into several separate populations, all of which loathe each other (some things never change). This is a gritty drama-driven rambling tale that swings between action, drama, horror, and plenty of very, very dark comedy. Warning: contains adult situations, absolutely horrible language, bathroom humor, implied ultra-violence, actual ultra-violence, drugs, alcohol, pirates, mercs, xeno prostitutes, moral ambiguity, deranged AI's with identity issues, giant commie space slugs, and a poor little frog girl who just wants to sell coffee. Updates twice weekly on Tuesday and Friday. *** Note: This story can get rough. Those warning tags? They aren't for show. I recently received a review and as a result I want to make one thing clear. Portraying something is NOT endorsing it! Many "heavy" topics are touched upon and just because a character says or does something does not imply that the author feels the same way. I selected the "Anti-Hero Lead" and "Villainous Lead" tags for a reason. Rule number one of this story is "no good guys". A good description of the story is, "bad people doing bad things to worse people". There are a few good characters, here and there, but they are the exception to the rule. If you want a hard-hitting, exciting, gritty sci-fi story that doesn't pull any punches, or shies away from "difficult" concepts, welcome! If you are set on a pure and noble knight that runs around and slays conveniently evil monsters and rescues totally innocent princesses... or your sensibilities are easily offended... You're not going to be happy with this one.

Cowboys and Wizards
Currently in queue: Episode 12 in progress. Set in the Aurora: Apocalypse universe.Updated every Wednesday. If it's not updating, I'm working on my other fictions. If nothing's updating, I ran out of whiskey. Be patient. Cowboys and Wizards is a hot mess of garbage that should not be taken seriously by anyone. It’s a vaguely-GameLit spoof of Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomoni (In Another World With My Smartphone) where the MC ends up in another world and fused with his crappy smartphone, mashed up with fantasy western elements. Dungeons & Dragons meets the Wild West in an alternate high-fantasy timeline. Guns & Goblins. Cowboys & Wizards. Locomotives & Dwarves. Don’t expect great writing, accurate numbers, or common sense. Hell, don’t expect anything — just relax and let it happen.

The Girl with Scales and a Sword
This is the story of a girl who ends up with scales and a sword. Yup. There you have it folks. Slice of Life is the key intended genre. This is literally going to be a running commentary of a girls life, especially as it relates to adventure and action This is going to be a continuous work, as I intend it to be a side project while I work on other books more decidedly, and I intend to rework chapters often, because I want this both to be a break from other titles, and a learning experience. I'm going to be trying to get a lot of people to comment on chapters so I can grow as a writer. So if you want to read, please do! and comment if you feel generous. Just keep in mind, releases will likely be veeeeery far apart. (Note: I try to put out a chapter a month, though that doesn't always happen depending on school, work, and generally how well I'm doing, energy-wise)
