《Abominable King》Chapter 18: The Morning After and Paperwork (WARNING: CONTAINS NSFW)

Kain awoke from his slumber in the middle of the day. The two monarchs had ended up spending quite some time together, Alexis and Kain. The vampiress's appetite was far more intense than Kain had anticipated, and her undead body rendered any chance of her being physically worn out as a barely non-zero possibility. Were it not for her own desire to take a break they might have ended up going on for half of the day, if not all of it. Kain's body was covered in hickeys and scratch marks, which for some reason would not heal as fast as any other wound or blemish that he received.
Kain held the left side of his neck and felt where his wife had bitten him during the climax of their session, the flesh there still bearing the telltale feeling of being completely new. Her teeth had ripped into his neck and she had gulped down more blood than a normal person would have within them, but thanks to Kain's hyper-accelerated healing factor his body was able to keep up with her appetite for blood and for another fluid. He looked over at her form which lay cuddled up beside him, softly purring like some kind of undead and hemophilic kitten. Her unconscious arms tried to slowly reach over and pull him back into bed to act as her body pillow but Kain had spent enough time playing with her and needed to settle matters of state.
He slipped out of bed as quietly as he could and took a hot shower before getting dressed. Only when he had finished covering himself did Alexis finally wake up and give a yawn and a stretch before smacking her lips and looking towards her lover with a lazy expression on her face. She slowly got out of bed, her red and black fishnet lingerie still doing a terrible job at hiding her privates which included her F-Cup bust which put the chests of everyone else in the world to shame.

She slid her hand across her nether region and brought her fluid-covered fingers to her mouth before seductively licking the remnants of their lover’s embrace from them with her tongue. As she sucked and slurped, taking care to not let a single drop go to waste, Kain wondered if she was actually a Vampire or if she was instead merely a succubus. Finished lapping up the liquids that had finally stopped dribbling out of her crotch, she began to caress her body in a quite sensual fashion.
Kain of course knew what she was trying to do, and damn if it wasn’t giving him the urge to just leave the nation on its own for a while. However, there was stuff to be done and he was not going to indulge either her libido or his own until the work he needed to do was completed. Kain gave her a kiss on the cheek and left the bedroom, which elicited a sigh of disapproval from his wife.
Seriously, didn’t he make her to be a vampire and not a succubus? He could have sworn that he did.
…
The burden of rulership is a great one, requiring charisma, intelligence, and a whole lot of talent with paperwork, among other things. Kain constantly had to approve or decline proposals that he needed to go over in great detail in order to avoid falling into traps due to not reading the fine print. Thankfully, he was semi-fluent in ‘legalese’, so he only needed to have some of the documents brought to himself looked over by other people. Most of the proposals were written in such a way that they could be easily understood, but some were written in legal-speak so thick that Kain felt like shutting down after the first few pages.
He was not about to accept a proposal that he did not understand or was unsure of what it contained. More than a few of these confusingly worded documents were attempts to gain monopolies or other kinds of power and the more perplexing the language of the document, the more likely it was that it was trying to hide something or get something past him. He had already made monopolies illegal, along with trusts and some other predatory practices.

This didn’t stop the elaborate requests written in befuddling language from arriving on his desk and trying to make him undo the law that banned such practices. What really ground his gears was that these requests and proposals came nearly every other day, as if to try and wear down his resistance with some less elaborately written documents promising to share the money gathered through such ventures with the government.
Kain spent so much time each day using two stamps to reject and approve paperwork that he had nearly gotten the actions down to pat. He still had to refer to those more in the know about that damnable corporate jargon and lawyer-speak on some matters but for most documents, he was like an industrial machine.
“Approved. Approved. Approved. Denied. Denied. Approved. Denied. Approved. Approved. Denied. Denied. Denied. Denied….”
His hands were like a machine; stamping and moving documents from one side of my desk to the other. Like an assembly line, he was getting more papers almost immediately after one stack was finished, with the ‘Approved’ stack taken to one part of the castle while the ‘Denied’ stack was sent to another. As for those that he couldn’t quite decide what to do with, those were held in a separate pile from the other two and would be gone over by himself and several others later on in the day, but for right now he had to work faster than ever before to make up for lost time.
The Abominable King was sure that he was not going to get through everything, or at least he was sure about that until Alexis sat down in the same room and started helping. Amazingly, she was far faster at this than he was and could read the denser legalese of some of the documents like she was reading basic English. It seemed that she was doing this for two reasons. One was to make up for the fact that Kain had slept in with her and the other was that if he was stuck doing paperwork late into the night, she would not be able to spend time with him in an intimate way tonight.
With how fast and hard she worked, Kain assumed she REALLY wanted to have another session with him, and while he was more than willing to do the dirty with her again, he was concerned with how physical she was last night. It was probably just the heat of the moment, but it felt like when they spent that time together that some kind of energy flew off of them in an unceasing flood of power. Kain hoped it was just his overactive imagination, as it would be terrible if they were attacked by the Forces of Light due to their little reunion…

Lost Things
"In this disordered continent, where everyone seeks to be the heroes of their own tales, there are still some rooms for smaller stories to breathe." "Past, present, and future—keep your eyes open, and see where they lead you to." This story follows three housemates’ lives: Carson Calding, Virgil Barion, and John Salore—onto their adventures of finding Carson’s past, Virgil’s present, and John’s future. Despite their clashing backgrounds and circumstances that forced them together, they’re definitely going to find the things they had lost, for sure. Each entire chapter will be updated biweekly. There'll be three smaller parts per each chapter. Note that this story was written to be an interactive one, with polls at the end of each parts deciding on what happens next. Though, the polls for this story won't be available on Royal Road updates. (I also upload this in Arcane Odyssey forum, and it's currently the only place where I open the polls and use the poll results from.)
