《Heaven of the Dream Fantasy - Going for a pacifist record》Chapter 54: Casual farming

The chosen one Shadyna is going on an adventure!
_ Shadyna: Everyone, I will surely avenge you and save the world!
_ Elri: Can you not begin weird monologues as soon as the day starts?!
As expected of my mentor, she is already working hard as the only sane person of the party!
_ Shadyna: But without having your hometown destroyed, you won't be able to begin the main quest…
And technically, it's already night in real life …
_ Elri: Right, the quest to run away from law enforcement after blowing up your hometown.
_ Shadyna: Why?!
_ Elri: Do I really have to spell it out for you?
I'm being treated like a criminal, sad cry~
While the cute girl of the neighborhood is being bullied, a wild degenerate elf appears from the stairs.
_ Su: Sorry for the wait~ The new patch was a boon for our business, but that was too many customers!
Oh right, Sateri released an emergency patch this morning. What was it again? I'm sure it was something related to item trading, but it didn't affect me so I kind of forgot about it…
Well, if it was so forgettable, it's most likely not something important anyway~
_ Elri: Must have been rough managing a whole floor with only three of you.
_ Su: It is. , one headpat please~
Wanting to get spoiled early, aren't you…
_ Shadyna: Sure, thank you for your hardwork~
The day begins with a serene scene of degenerate headpatting. This won't up the game's age rating right?
_ Su: Happiness~
_ Elri: What the heck is this…? By the way, don't you have to go with ?
Oh, do they have their own plan today?
_ Su: For once, my has priority! I will only go if that's where she is heading to.
How about you not claiming to be my owner whenever you have a chance…
_ Shadyna: What is she doing by the way?
_ Elri: Some kind of event for closed beta players… Supposedly. She brought everyone, leaving only us to guard you.
Is the event a bonus boss fight or something?!
_ Su: You can join too, of course.
_ Shadyna: Hmm… I'll pass. I need to do something else today.
Since the event is geared towards beta players, it probably has nothing to do with Sateri. I have found nothing for the last two days, so I need to pick up the pace before it's too late. I'm sure Hessy can deal with a bonus boss or two on her own, as long as there is no time limit.
_ Elri: No problem. Su, are you sure about this?
_ Su: It's fine~ They have plenty of healers already. It's going to be just our elf family today~
Now that she mentions it, everyone here has virtual elven blood flowing in their veins. The pointy ears bloodline is going strong today as well!
_ Shadyna: I'm only half-elf though… Does that mean Elri has been cheating behind Su's back?
_ Elri: What. The. HECK?!
Covering her mouth with both hands as if she was surprised, Su makes a fake teary expression directed at Elri. Yes, it is so fake, even I can see that it was fake!
_ Su: H-how could you!? The time we have spent together, does it not matter at all to you!?
Considering how short your time with her is… I would say "yes" to that.
_ Elri: Do not follow up! What if the patrons misunderstand?!
Worry not, with our patrons' average intelligence, that's certainty.
_ Random patron: How dare you betray Su! Don't think you can do anything you want just because you have great boobs! On second thought, you can, but that doesn't mean you should!
At least try to scold her until the end!
_ Shadyna: Hey, Elri, is your new concubine a little girl as well?
_ Elri: I will be screwed whether I answer "yes" or "no" to that question anyway!
Whoops, she found out~
_ Su: Elri, please think of our child! is still young and needs a mother in her life!
The proprietress should look at herself in the mirror every once in a while, just saying.
_ Elri: You two… CUT IT OUT!!!
*BONK* *BONK*
Gyah~ The cute children are being subjected to domestic violence!
____________
On a barren land between hunting zones, many players gather, fully geared up for combat. A huge magic circle can be seen spanning the whole area they are standing on. It looks like it was drawn by a stick dragged on the ground, but a detailed magic circle nonetheless.
Contrary to the tense atmosphere, there is no ongoing battle at the moment. They are merely preparing for a battle, just like the newly arrived cafeteria crew.
_ Hessenria: Looks like everyone with [Goddess's Chosen] had the same idea of calling every member in their guilds as well…
_ Mera: It would be a shame if someone happens to cast an AoE skill right now~
The wise and all-seeing sage glares at the smiling waitress in the way one would look at a psychopath, but does not make any further remark.
_ Vladina: If we get wiped again, no one is going to be able to do this quest again until tomorrow, so please refrain until after the fight.
_ Hessenria: Once per day global quest… That's why you are still here aren't you?
_ Vladina: Well duh! We didn't know a boss would appear and had to fight it with only one party. By the time 's reinforcement came, we couldn't trigger it anymore!
_ Hessenria: Was it as strong as a Magnus Bestia?
_ Vladina: An average level 30 boss, surprisingly.
The harsh mistress tilts her head slightly as she heard that.
_ Hessenria: If it was only a level 30… Uh… I mean, of course a level 30 boss is a bit too much for a single party.
_ Vladina: You don't have to pretend. We all know the meta does not apply to your guild.
_ Hessenria: Tsk.
_ Mera: Hessy fell to darkness a lo~ng time ago after all~
*WHACK*
_ Mera: Kya~
Because she will lose if she says anything about it, ignores the two lovebirds and walks to the stone pedestal at the center of the circle, which has begun glowing a moment ago.
_ Vladina: I am going to trigger the boss now. Get ready.
Surrounding players quickly brandish their weapons. Some may say hundreds of players against a single level 30 boss is overkill, but these old players who suffered Sateri-chan's late game's content would disagree.
That AI girl does NOT play around when it comes to making players work hard for access to powerful gears and skills.
Or maybe she was really playing around, hence the no-holds-barred one-sided battles that usually come with such contents. The players would rather not think too deeply about that though.
As the guildmaster of activates the pedestal, a beam of light from the sky strikes at her location.
However, by the time it landed, she had already jumped to the back. From here on out, her job is to stay behind the tanks and throw spells at the boss as fast as she can.
Above the pedestal, the boss emerges from the light. A compass-needle-like entity that towers the tallest player in the area, yet still visibly smaller than a Magnus Bestia or Nox boss. Its metallic wings flap slightly in the air despite not being attached to the main body. At the top end, a small sphere is hovering in the same manner.
At the same time, the magic circle underneath starts glowing brightly. Players at the edge can see a semi-transparent dome rising from the outermost circle, barring all entry, and exit. In other words, they are stuck here until one side falls.
_ Vladina: Prepare yourself, [Celestial Remnant Relesius]! This is our payback for yesterday!
Although the boss cannot understand the little girl's words, the atmosphere is important, even in the direst situations.
*FLASH*
To the surprise of everyone in the vicinity, the big winged needle multiplied. A ball of light appeared next to the boss, then a new one, having the same appearance as the original, came out.
Understandably, everyone is startled. They were not informed of the cloning ability in the briefing to begin with.
_ Hessenria: Eh… , that's not "an average boss".
*FLASH*
One more has appeared at the other side of the original.
_ Vladina: It didn't multiply yesterday, honest!
*FLASH*
And another one.
_ Hessenria: Everyone, attack! NOW!
_ Players: OH!!!
The supposedly boss fight has turned into a full-scale battle between a swarm of players and a horde of cloned bosses in the span of a few seconds.
____________
We have arrived at the forest.
Ever since my crew glassed the old one… I mean, performed a small pest extermination, it has transformed into a completely different place.
The tree density has reduced somewhat, allowing more lights to reach the ground. In addition, the flora themselves seem to be giving off a dim light. Looking at how glittering it is now, it is hard to believe this place has a dark history of triggering priestesses' bad ends on a daily basis (Probably)…
_ Shadyna: Settling here may be nice~
_ Su: Living on trees is the elven style after all~
_ Elri: Hmm… I prefer being close to the ground, where my mount can maneuver freely.
Should I be concerned that my mentor is becoming less of an elf and more of a fulltime cavalry commander? She has never been much of an elf with that bust, but still…
_ Elri: Anyway, what's the plan? This place is way below our level.
_ Shadyna: Elri, I do not fight mobs to gain levels in the first place…
_ Elri: Huh…
Hey, Elri, what's that "Yeah right" expression you are making~? I am telling the truth you know~? Most of my levels came from crafting, skill grinding, and technically non-violent pacification of bonus bosses. The only exceptions were random mobs getting caught up peacefully in said leveling methods, and a Merexxa.
Pacifism is still going strong in me, un!
_ Shadyna: Sateri told me there would be a secret event in this patch. I don't know how to start it so I'm thinking about gathering a lot of [Soul Core] and ask the NPCs if they have anything to say…
_ Su: Secret… event? Guhnununu! So unfair! I want to get secret information and bribe too!
What does the latter have to do with anything?! And for the record, she gave that information after I made the expensive engagement ring, so I was the one bribing her in this case.
Also, can you stop gnawing your handkerchief while vomiting blood on it? I understand that you are jealous since you are a degenerate, but that's kind of terrifying.
_ Elri: [Soul Core] huh. Don't they drop randomly from dead mobs? Are you going to fight?
_ Shadyna: Well, I have thought about burning down the field to farm, but realized it would be a waste to burn the creatures' corpses…
_ Elri: Stop because of pacifism, not technicalities!!!
_ Shadyna: I'm sorry~
My mentor is strict today as well, sad cry~
_ Shadyna: Anyway~, I will try to fish at a pond to see if I can get a [Soul Core] first. I'm counting on you two!
_ Su: Leave it to me!
_ Elri: …You are the fisher right?
_ Shadyna: I am, but I need you to be the party leader, and Su's [Devotion]. Ah, I do need to craft new equipment to boost the attributes as well.
Even if the drop chance is astronomically low, I can still beat Sateri's RNG using numerical superiority, evil laugh echoing~
Elri, please don't sigh as if you are giving up~
…
A lot of [Fishing] later…
For some reason, Elri is orz-ing now.
_ Elri: This is not how [Fishing] works!!!
_ Shadyna: Eh~? But you have two cute girls in summer clothes, a wooden pier, fishing rods… It's a normal fishing trip, no matter how you look at it…
There are trees all around us, so I did spend some extra efforts for the immersion. The picky elven knight wasn't amused though…
_ Elri: Normal fishers do not require a full wagon fleet to store the fish they caught!!!
I have a feeling that the proprietress next to me is thinking "Why are you bringing this up two hours after we started?", mostly because it has been two hours since we started.
_ Shadyna: Uhm… how else am I supposed to store all these fish?
_ Elri: Do not overfish!!!
She's being unreasonable~
_ Su: But you only need to bring the wagons back to our warehouse. I have categorized all of the items for you in advanced.
_ Elri: That's not the problem here! Actually, why are you so calm about this?! caught an ocean's worth of fish in only two hours!!!
_ Su: Eh… It's not the first time so…
I'm sure you are supposed to say "This is nothing!" or "Anything for my lovely daughter!" here. When you put it like that, it sounded like I was being a bother and you were used to it!
What do you mean, that's exactly what's happening here?!
_ Shadyna: W-well, I have not found any [Soul Core], so we can stop here for now…
_ Su: Aw, I was enjoying my heavenly lap pillow…
Elri may find Su's inventory management skills impressive, but I personally think her doing everything while lying on my lap is the most amazing. It's kind of scary how she didn't seem hindered in the slightest despite the awkward posture!
She looks cute in the white summer dress though, so I'll let that immersion-breaking behavior slide~
_ Elri: Anything to get me out of this fishy hell…
Sad face~
…
For our next attempt to farm [Soul Core], I have to go back to the problem of beasts' materials.
You see, a true pacifist would never be able to access any monster drops, including [World Voice] and [Soul Core], due to lack of interaction with monsters. There's no way Sateri could have missed it, so she must have some mechanics in store for this situation.
If she does not, I will file a complaint, un!
To prove that theory, we are currently looking for a random mob in the area.
_ Elri: Is that one okay?
She points at a colorful flightless bird resembling a peacock in front of us.
_ Shadyna: Any creature is fine, really. [Love-free Lunchbox]!
Yes, I am really using a buff item that many players would die for on a normal creature in this low-level forest.
I got a lot of materials from the fish, so it's fine to be a bit wasteful in the name of science~
The bird turns to us after getting hit by the light stream from my lunchbox. There's no way it can ignore a handmade meal from the cute tree girl, right?
_ Elri: Whatever you are thinking, that's not the case.
Little details~
The bird cheerfully walks up to us, just as planned. As it is now, it should become a [Summon Stone] if I "invite" it. I still don't know all the possible actions, but handshaking and asking it to join verbally have been confirmed, by my apprentices.
_ Su: Are you going to tame it?
_ Shadyna: No, I am not.
Not because this bird has no arm to do a handshake per se. I want to check something else…
_ Shadyna: Please give me everything you have~ [Refinery]!
_ Elri: The heck?!
The ability to harvest the loots using [Farming], to be exact. Livestock is an important part of agriculture after all!
[Beast agreed to share its treasures]
[Received Colorful Feather x14]
[Received Red Talons x8]
[Received Copper Coins x373]
Nice~
By the way, this bird only has six talons in total visually, and definitely NOT wearing a purse big enough for hundreds of coins. Where it was storing the items is a mystery I can live without knowing.
Because materialism has the right of way!
_ Shadyna: [Refinery]!
[Beast has no treasure to share at the moment]
Aw… I suppose being able to harvest it repeatedly would be way too OP. Nevertheless, I have found a way to peacefully rob stray beasts of their [Soul Core] and everything they have in the process, muahahaha~
_ Elri: Su, can I go home right now?
_ Su: Denied~ Both of us have to be here so in case she decides to skin us alive like that bird, at least one of us can escape to tell the tale.
Why did you assume that I was using the [Dismantling] part of [Refinery] before all else?! The bird was not harmed in any way you know?!
_ Shadyna: How mean! This pacifist me won't harm anyone without a good reason!
_ Elri: Your definition of a good reason is a bit too broad, if you ask me.
My bodyguards are all bullies! Pouts~!
____________
Today, the patrons of the tavern are confused.
Everyone would be confused when they walk into a tavern and was greeted by a maid instead.
_ Kind maid: Sorry for the wait, master.
_ Random patron: I can't take it anymore! Where are my verbal abuses and the cold glare that freezes hell over?!
Correction: It was the lack of pain and suffering that confused these degenerates.
While the maid was pondering whether she should stare at her patron in pure disgust, the door to the building swings open. A jet black projectile flies through and stabs right in the back of the patron's head.
_ Random dead patron: GUAH!
Witnessing the enviou… pitiful fate of that guy, the surrounding patrons quickly understand that the manager has finally returned. A bit battered as if she just came back from a boss rush admittedly, but still lively enough to throw around the bolts of doom.
_ Hessenria: Do not bully the part-timers, damned degenerate!!!
_ Random dead patron: Thank you very much for your service!!!
_ Kind maid: Welcome back, mistress.
_ Hessenria: Do not call me that! Thanks for your hard work today, by the way.
The kind maid does a curtsy as if the dead body under her heels didn't exist. has to wonder whether she doesn't care, or she is learning the job way too fast.
_ Random dead patron: Like that, yes! Please keep up the good work!
_ Kind maid: In case she has not informed you, brought back many wagons earlier.
_ Hessenria: Is that so? Thanks for telling me. You are dismissed.
_ Kind maid: Now then, if you'll excuse me.
Going past the guildmasters behind her employer, the kind maid does not forget to wink at her (former) senior of this job, .
_ Olkan: Even my job got NTR-ed!!!
The harsh mistress pretends she saw nothing and walks to the back of the cafeteria while the patrons try to cheer the poor breast maniac up. She is definitely not going to get involved with that!
_ Swordman: Glad to see you girls back! The maid is cute, but she doesn't have what it takes to yell at us yet!
_ Mera: Okay~ Please shut up and let us work in peace, you pigs~
_ Swordman: Thank you for your kind words!
As everyone in the crew returns to their post, runs out from the back, totally in panic mode.
_ Hessenria: Everyone, switch to the fish menu, NOW!!!
For a few seconds, all players in the cafeteria were dumbfounded.
And then, the screams of despair can be heard across the world, much to the delight of Mera.
--- Topic: Merged NPC Trade Hub #1 ---
## Silver Merchant
Due to Sateri-chan's newest patch (1.0d34) making Heart Cores bound to their quest doer (practically untradeable, simply put), please trade your Soul Cores here. (;_;)
Both NPC threads have been requested to be archived to avoid confusion.
##
## Fire mage of Justice
That was fast. ( ̄□ ̄;)
##
## StoneHoarder
The NPC thread's high activity must have alerted Sateri-chan. She decided to use an emergency patch just to shut down our trafficking ring. (=_=)
##
## Newbie Charisma build
Yet Soul Cores are still tradeable?
##
## Serious Mage
Not all quests give Heart Core.
If someone like guildmaster of DFC Sages want to make a harem, they need to spend a lot more effort to get the cores AND do the quests, with no guarantee to receive a Heart Core of the NPC they wanted.
##
## Shining Knight
That means they will buy more Soul Cores, right? (^_-)
##
## Teabag Master
And private rooms to do quests without competition too! (^o^)/

Tales from the Triverse
Tales from the Triverse is part detective drama, part fantasy adventure and part space opera. I’m influenced by the likes of Iain M Banks, Isaac Asimov and ND Stevenson and work including The Wire and Gotham Central. It begins with an incident two hundred years ago which crashed three parallel universes together. Portals open up in 18th century London, sending England down a very different path. We pick up events in the 1970s, with the Metropolitan Police having established a new department to handle portal-related criminal activity. The story is about intolerance, immigration, multiculturalism and power. It’s about what happens when incompatible viewpoints are weaponised to seed discontent, and the efforts of some to create a fairer world. In the tradition of the best science fiction, fantasy and crime fiction, I’m using the setting to examine themes that matter to me in the real world. Who is it for?If you like science fiction or fantasy, or a mix of both, this is for you. It’s my first foray into crime fiction, but I hope if you’re a fan that you’ll enjoy yourself - especially if you’re looking for something a bit different. I write fiction that is optimistic, progressive and empathetic. Bad things can happen to good people in the stories, but the overall arc tends to be hopeful. Note that if it were a movie, Tales from the Triverse would be a 15 certificate in the UK.
