《Multiversal Dungeon of the System》4 – Setting up Rules, Constructing a Entrance Room, and Level 2

I'll be honest. I was hoping for more time before I discovered intelligent life on the surface, as my Dungeon is now, a simple hunter using nothing but a Bow and arrow would be able to conquer my Dungeon...
The only reliable defense I can use are my two Progenitor Monsters. But, even then, they are still easily killable.
I was by no means prepared for this any Delvers, and it won't be until I am able to reach a point where I can start producing monsters at a much faster pace.
I mean this seriously seeing as I have been here for days and have only been able to produce three monsters, I needed to focus on strengthening my Dungeon and not getting sidetracked by every little thing that surprises me in this new world that I find myself in.
With a single command, I have the Horned Rabbit hide itself and watch the city, especially the gate.
I wanted to know when any of the people living inside the city leave and which direction they head.
This would most likely give me some time to prepare if anyone heads my direction.
In the meantime, while my two Progenitors continued to expand the first floor, I began using some of the stone absorbed by my Dungeon to shape a box room around the ramp that leads to the surface.
I carved two stone archways to act as doors that would lead into the Dungeon.
And on the wall opposite the ramp, I began carving out words.
"To those who wish to gain entry into this Dungeon, you will find that you will not be stopped and instead will be welcomed. But do not take this welcoming for granted, the Dungeon is fair. If you seek the Dungeon's demise, you shall face the Dungeon's Wrath. If you seek Power, Riches, or perhaps something more, you are welcome to challenge yourself within the Dungeon's walls."
Then for the first time, I used [Rule Creation].
[Please write down the description of the Rule you wish to create]
Rule Name: Universal Understanding Rule Type: Dungeon-wide Dungeon Rule Slot Requirements: 01
Advertisement
Description: While in the Dungeon, Delvers will understand each other even if they speak a different language and be able to read any written text allowed by the Dungeon
Rule Name: Fair Game Rule Type: Dungeon-wide Dungeon Rule Slot Requirements: 04
Description: Delvers who wish no harm upon the Dungeon or its core will find that the Dungeon Monsters will avoid dealing fatal blows to the Delver. If defeated by a Dungeon Monster, the Delver will not be killed but instead Magically healed and returned to the Dungeon Entrance Room, and in return, upon being defeated by a Dungeon Monster, a Delver will lose part of his current EXP(set to 25%) and be weakened for a short time.
[Rules Established, You now have 05/10 DR Slots remaining]
"So Dungeon Rules actually take up slots? Is there a way to increase the slot capacity?"
[Slots will be increased with each level of the Dungeon]
With that information in mind, I did not hesitate to create another rule.
[Please write down the description of the Rule you wish to create]
Rule Name: Delvers Beware Rule Type: Dungeon-wide Dungeon Rule Slot Requirements: 05
Description: Delvers who have bad intentions for the Dungeon Core or the Dungeon's wellbeing will find that all Dungeon Monsters seem to know where they are, are stronger, and fight more ferociously with the intent to kill or maim.
A simple rule that would basically strengthen my Monsters against those that wish to harm me, which is bound to be a lot.
Now with only a single slot left, I moved my focus elsewhere.
Five days passed, and I now had two more Widow Ants helping in the expansion of the First Floor.
It also seems the Oak Tree is nearing its Adult Stage, where it can start producing seeds so that I can start building up a forest on the floor.
As for the Dungeon Grass, it's been growing pretty fast with its covering around 60% of the first floor now, and I have seen my Monsters eat a bit of it when they rested.
They didn't need to eat, but they seemed to still enjoy doing so and feel better after doing so.

I even noticed that it increased some of their stamina by a couple of points depending on how much grass they ate, which was a good thing since it would help speed up the time before they could work again.
These past couple of days, they have been working real hard and getting a lot of work done, but it came at the cost of longer breaks which I had little problem with.
As for my Mana Regeneration, it's gone up by 2.9 Mana, making my Mana Regeneration at 30.2.
I was also a few EXP points away from leveling up and would have days ago if anything actually showed up at the watering hole where I had the second Widow Ant still hunting.
As for the Scrap Metal City, as I call it, it's been riled up a lot recently, like they were preparing for an attack or something.
More guards were on the walls, and fewer people were leaving the City with those that did look to be guards on patrol.
Thanks to the Rabbit's senses and size, I was able to get close enough to get a good look at their gear and appearances.
They looked much like humans and wore Scrap Metal armor made from signs and some other junk.
For their weapons, it seems only a few used Guns while the rest used bladed weaponry like Machetes or Swords.
Although I did see that some have some slingshots roped to their sides along with pouches that made the clanking noise of metal.
All in all, I would guess that they are the original inhabitants of this city, if not descendants of the original inhabitants, based on the city's current state.
My only question was, what could rile them up?
They had a fortified wall, guns, weapons, armor, and everything they could need for an attack against their city, but based on their gestures and postures, one would think they were afraid.
But afraid of what is the question.
This is why I had the Rabbit move spots again and this time to a mostly dilapidated building where I had it post at a hole on the side of the building facing the city's wall.
If anything came from this way towards this wall, my Rabbit would see and immediately notify me.
Besides that alarming situation, I had another issue I was dealing with.
The Patrols.
As I mentioned earlier, the City has been sending out Patrols to scout the surrounding area for some reason, and every day they were getting closer and closer to my Dungeon.
So I took preemptive action and used the Widow Ants in my Dungeon to move a car over the entrance into my Dungeon, one large enough for any of my Monsters to crawl underneath and enter my Dungeon. I also made sure the vehicle was large enough that if any Patrol came by the Vehicle, they would not see the entrance under the car.
And although I say car, I really mean a nearby SUV in good enough condition to move without breaking.
All of the cars I have seen so far were covered in overgrowth, damaged, or falling apart, so I doubt any of the City Folk have working vehicles, and if they did, I doubt they would use them due to the difficulty of the terrain with all the cars, trash, and debris blocking the road.
Soon the Hunter Ant arrived with another stag, which should be worth enough EXP for me to level up to level 2!
Giving the go-ahead, the Hunter Ant ruthlessly chomped into the Deer's head, killing it.
White Stag(Level 9) has been slain by Unnamed Widow Ant(Level 1)!
Dungeon: +12 Exp
Unnamed Widow Ant: +11 Exp
Congratulations!
You have leveled up and are now level 2!

The Oresteia (Modernized)
All three of the great Greek Tragedians have written plays about the bloody chain of murder and revenge within the royal family of Argos. Yet theirs is in fact not a story of tragedy, but rather one of redemption. As they move from darkness to light, from rage to self-governance, from primitive ritual to civilized institution, their spirit of struggle and regeneration becomes an everlasting song of celebration to be heard throughout the ages. Forming a discourse set against the emergence of Athenian democracy out of a period of chaos and destruction, the Orestian plays are compelling stories of the tensions between our obligations to our families and the laws that bind us together as a society. In the beginning, we witness how a king’s decision to sacrifice his daughter and turn the tide of war inflicts lasting damage on his family, culminating in a terrible act of retribution. In the aftermath of regicide, we behold how a son must set out to avenge his father’s death by committing a most egregious sin. In the end, the sinner is tormented by supernatural powers that can never be appeased, but ultimately finds redemption and ends the curse on his house once and for all. Woven through all of this is the story of a friendship so close that it elevates itself to brotherhood - Where the blood of the covenant is shown to be indeed thicker than the water of the womb. In this very brief twelve-chapter modern rendition of the Orestian plays, I have chosen to place my focus mainly on the lives of the characters Orestes and his best friend Pylades. The chapters, each around 2000-2500 words, are split up evenly between them in first-person narrative. I hope that you will come to enjoy reading this heartwarming story, but more importantly, that you see how the conflicts portrayed in the story, whether human or institutional, are still much very relevant to our societies today. Note on Sources: The details of this story is very loosely based on The Oresteia by Aeschylus. And I mean very loosely. Other sources that I referenced for detail and inspiration are Mythology by Edith Hamilton, Electra by Sophocles, and Iphigenia in Tauris by Euripides. You may also find that I have quoted some of these works, and others (such as Shelley's Ozymondaeus), without citations (average of 1-2 such quotes per chapter). I did this because I do not have the ability to describe certain scenes nearly as well as some of those writers. If you read a particularly beautiful piece of prose here, chances are it's probably stolen lol. Also, I wrote this during the summer between my high school senior year and my college freshmen year. It was the summer of 2020, and being quarantined apparently gets my creative side out lol.

The Dog with a Chair
As of now, this story is dropped. It was an excellent learning experience, but the quality suffered too much from me trying new things for me to continue in good concience. Thanks to anyone that read it. I'm leaving this story up as a record of my first ever attempt at publishing something I've wrote. To any new writers out there, remember that even if the stuff you write is trash, you can still learn a lot from writing it. - November 17th 2020 Guy gets involved in advocacy for civil engineering projects, then gets pulled into an interdimensional war. Third person with a focus on one main character (Stanley) with the occasional point of view from another character important to story progression. Writing style tends to shift early on as I figure out how to write (this is my first book). Still learning, hoping to improve. Current style choice is to have a focus on character dialogue/actions with interspersed internal monologue in italics. No current end is set for the story, with the primary goal of this project being to learn to express myself in a written format. Storyline is kept as consistent as practical while covering things I find interesting. Governmental systems are mentioned, but not explained in extreme detail. Sci fi elements are used to reinforce and guide plot progression as I'm able. Personal goals belonging to each character are in the process of being developed, with the hope that they will support or oppose each other in interesting ways later on. Hope you enjoy :)
