《The American Heist》Jack's Smile

"So where are we going?" Devin asked as he climbed into Sarah's truck, closed the door by holding onto the manual window crank.
Sarah grabbed the key out of her pocket and started the engine and shifted the truck into drive. "We're going to the Safehouse, need to introduce you to the rest of the crew before anything else." Sarah said as drove out of the parking spot quickly before anyone could have a chance to buckle their seatbelts. This caused Devin to accidentally ripping the manual crank off and holding it sheepishly as he looked at Sarah.
Sarah shook her head before reaching over to roll down her window. Once it was down she grabbed the crank out of Devin's hand and threw it out the window. Sarah then took a deep breath and focused on the road. After a couple of minutes, John decided to break the awkward silence and looked at Devin. Devin turned to face John and raised an eyebrow in anticipation for a question. Sarah turns the truck off of the road and onto a dirt track “So I'm guessing you’re on a high protein diet?” John said as he looked forward to stare at the road. “I was, now I’m going vegan.” Devin said as he mumbled. John slowly looked at Sarah with a concerned face for a moment before turning back to the road. “Are we there yet?” John asked as he tried to turn on the radio. “Oh don’t even start that shit.” Sarah said as she slapped John’s hand away.
“Yeah we’re here, let’s go.” Sarah said as she turned off the truck and motioned everyone out. As they climbed out of the truck, Devin and John grabbed the stuff from the bed of the truck and followed Sarah to the front door. Sarah opened the door for them to go through and led them into the main room. Immediately everyone in the room jumped up and grabbed their respective weapons except for Kaz. “Relax, it’s not like we’re bringing any heat with us.” Sarah said as she motioned for John and Devin to put the stuff on the table. Everyone lowered their weapons and looked at the table. “Well, that’s one way to get attention.” Tyson said as he looked up from the table. “Why is Devin here?” Tyson asked as he held out a hand for Devin. “Thought we could use some extra muscle.” Sarah said as Devin reached out to shake Tyson’s hand. “Give Kaz your chip.” Sarah said as she then turned to look at Tyson. “Jack here?” Sarah asked out of curiosity.

“No, he was here a couple hours ago. He and Rob both took off, god knows where.” Tyson said he looked over at the side entrance. “Wait Jack, as in Jack-”All of the sudden the door opened. Only Sarah, Connor and Yumi raised their weapons in anticipation. Rob walked through the door first, then Bailey and finally Jack. As Jack looks into the room, he sees Devin staring back at him with a blank face before turning into anger. “Oh shit” Jack said quietly to himself. “Why is my boyfriend here?” Bailey asked as she turned her face to look at Sarah. Before Sarah could even respond, Devin had started running towards Jack. Jack instinctively got into a makeshift fighting stance and waited for Devin to clash into him. As Devin ran, he made both of his fists as tight as he could before swinging a right cross at Jack. Easily anticipating his move, Jack ducked down and landed a punch into Devin’s stomach, causing him to bend over. As Jack was getting ready to land another blow, he felt Devin grabbing his belt with one hand and pulled him down. As Jack was moved downwards, Devin grabbed the back of Jack’s head and in a moment later Devin threw Jack. In a quick moment Jack realized he was flying through the air towards the table in the center of the room.
As Jack crashed face first into the table, he realized that this fight would be a lot harder than the one back in London. Jack then pushed himself up off the ground and started to feel blood rushing out of his nose and down his lips. Jack then looked up at Devin before wiping the blood from his nose with one hand before getting back into a fighting stance. “Come on!” Jack yelled. Devin then does another charge, but Jack is now ready to deal with Devin’s charge. As Devin got in close again, he swung with a right cross and to everyone’s surprise Jack had let it connect. Within a split second, Jack was spinning around with a fist and was about to connect until Devin held up the same hand to block the swing.
“Pay attention kid, this got interesting.” Tyson said as he nugged John's arm with his own. “Is anyone going to stop this?” John asked with a concerned voice. “Well, Jack’s fighting clean and Devin hasn't pulled out his brass knuckles yet, so yeah nobody is going to stop this fight.” Tyson said as Devin grabbed ahold of Jack’s wrist and pushed him off balance. “Yeah I’m not falling for that again.” Devin said as he easily kicked Jack’s feet from underneath him. As Jack hit the ground again, he started to think of how he would beat Devin.

Devin then tried to stomp on Jack's head but had missed after he moved his head out of the way just in time. As Devin started to raise his foot again, Jack reached out to the foot that was on the ground and grabbed it. Within a moment Jack changed his grip around the foot and dug his fingers into certain pressure points causing Devin to fall. As both of them lay down on the ground, they prop themselves up with their elbows and give each other a glance. They both knew that this fight was going to end with a knockout, but who would win was the question.
“I don’t have the time to watch this shit.” Kaz said as he put the green chip into his coat pocket and started making his way out. “When will you be back?” Tyson asked as he watched walk to the door. Kaz shrugs his shoulders before grabbing a leather jacket and walking out the door. Tyson takes a deep breath before turning his attention back to the center of the room. Just then Devin and Jack both got onto their feet. They both try to land a quick right cross but they both miss and end up locking their forearms against each other. "You're not pulling your punches!" Devin grunted through his teeth. “You’re not going to win this!” Jack grunted back right before he headbutted Devin. As Devin stumbled back from the blow, Jack stood up straight and formed a smile on his face. “Oh shit.” Sarah and Tyson both said simultaneously. Connor and Morgan look at each other before turning their attention to Sarah. “Why did you guys say oh shit?” Connor and Morgan asked as Jack got into a fight stance where his arms were in front of him crossed. “
“Normally if you see Jack with a smirk, it’s because he finds something funny, a smile, you’ve made a mistake in his favor.” Tyson said as he walked over to stand by Connor and Morgan. “What about a grin?” Morgan asked as she watched Devin put his hands up in front of him and charge at Jack. “I’ve never seen Jack with a grin before, but I just hope that if you do see it, it’s not for you.” Sarah said as she joined Tyson. Devin charged at Jack and threw a straight left punch. Jack ducked down and threw a right punch into Devin’s abdomen, causing him to lean forward slightly. In a quick moment, Jack then took a step back and placed his right foot on Devin's chest. In one quick motion Jack had kick off the ground and Devin's chest at the same time causing him to fly backwards.
Everything slows down for a moment for Sarah as she watches Jack fly backwards through the air. She has never seen Jack fight like this before. Just then, everything speeds back up, Jack lands on the ground right as Devin's head hits the ground floor, knocking him out cold. Jack stands up straight, looks over at Devin and shakes his head. “Make sure he’s awake for the heist or have him in a hospital.” Jack said coldly as he turned his back to his downed opponent and approached Sarah. Jack then grab’s Sarah by her shirt and pinned her against the wall.
“Hey!” Tyson and Rob both yell before Jack gives them a dirty look. Jack turns his attention back to Sarah. “You don’t bring anybody onto this team without my permission!” Jack yelled. “We only get one shot at this and I don’t need you or anyone to screw it up!” Jack yelled right before he let go of his grip on Sarah. “I don’t care if you love or hate me, you’ll follow my lead and you’ll do what I say when I say.” Jack said as he slowly turned back to the center of the room. “Are we clear?” Jack said as he looked around the room and saw the room of people staring at him, nobody wanted to object to him. “Good, now Tyson keep training the handicap and Connor have Bailey learn the plan.” Jack said as he walked away from the group and up the flight of stairs. As Jack opened the door to his room, he grabbed his nose and went in front of a mirror. Jack then pushed his nose straight violently and blew out all the blood that was in his nose
A moment later there was a knock on the door, Jack turned and was about to open the door but decided to lock the door instead. A moment later, Jack turned and faced the wall where his evidence board was. Jack study’s the board for a moment before he looks down and walks over to his bed to lay down. As Jack lay’s down, he hears another knock on the door but ignores it. “Somehow, some way.” Jack mumbles to himself before he falls asleep alone.
