《Potestera- Race for Power》Ch 100 Writing an Instruction Manual

On the remainder of my days in Martial Citadel other than the necessary training, travel preparations, and chores, I spent my days writing down and illustrating my knowledge of Kemoro’s Combined Fighting Method.
I had thought of doing something like this for a while now, as what I had taught them whenever I had time, was basically the same knowledge Kemoro had taught me.
Unlike the stuck up Martial Artists from the rest of the City that were set in their ways, most of the aspiring or beginner Martial Artists within the slums were open to instruction, and receptive to the Philosophy that had been passed on to me.
These young kids were just eager to get whatever knowledge they could get, with the hopes that it would be enough to one day be able to enter the Ranks of Powerful Experts they much admired.
Their lack of resources made that dream hard to achieve even now that things had gotten better.
But it was my opinion that Kemoro’s Method was something that all of them could benefit from, I just lacked the time to properly instruct them on it.
As I wrote down the principles of Combined Fighting Method, I had sudden inspiration that the experiences I had gone through, had taught me were very important things.
Kemoro would probably have an aneurysm, and kick my butt for thinking about it, but I realized that despite how profound and transcendent his Method was, it was still not complete and had room for improvement.
I really felt like Kemoro just didn’t put proper importance on two specific subject’s.
One was breathing and knowledge of the body.
I knew he had included that as part of training and the mastering of the Method as a whole, but I truly felt Breathing and inner realization went beyond just fighting, it translated to life itself.

With proper mastery of breathing methods you could calm the mind, think more clearly, be healthier, have more concentration, not to mention it was the key to unlocking the Art of Inner Martial Arts, and I'm sure it's the key for many other Arts as well.
I decided to add it as a fundamental.
The other subject was arena and dimensional knowledge, and if one went further on that train of thought the addition of other fighting types, such as aerial combat.
I had witnessed such a thing before only briefly, but it was enough to demonstrate the importance of knowledge on such subjects.
I still had no idea what constituted proper understanding of aerial combat, but the fundamentals never change.
Maybe one of the inheritors of the Method will be able to fill in the gaps.
For now I only planned to add arena and dimensional knowledge as another fundamental, and later on suggest other possible fighting types that could exist.
After I wrote down the Method instruction manual to the best of my ability, and corrected it to where I was satisfied with how it looked, I took my work down to the local printer press establishment, and made many copies of it in an inexpensive booklet form.
The whole project had actually cost me about 500 gold coins since I made quite a bit of copies, but I was actually trying to waste some of my money so that I could reduce the amount I had to carry or find storage for, so it wasn’t something I minded.
I filled up a whole cart with the copies and set out to hand them out.
The first people I gave the copies to, were a group of small brats that I often talked to and that many times had helped me out.

The leader of the group was a kid called Gregin.
They were rowdy kids but had a good heart, and were just doing their best to learn Martial Arts and fulfill their dreams.
What they knew they had learned from an old retired Martial Artist, who knew some stuff, and had imparted some of his knowledge on them.
Even so he was really old, so there wasn’t much hands-on instruction he could give them, so for the most part the kids were on their own when it came to their training.
What the old man had thought them wasn’t half bad, it was a decent Fighting Art, but it definitely had some big flaws that were common in Martial Citadel.
My hope was that Combined Fighting Method, would help them complete their understanding of the fighting arts, and round out their fighting style to be more effective.
Gregin and the gang were extremely grateful for the manual, and instantly set out to study it before I even went away.
And so I visited every house in the Slum, giving every family or poor Martial Organization one or more copies of my “Combined Fighting Method Instruction Manual”.
I didn’t know how much the people truly appreciated the gift, but for the most part everyone was pretty happy to get something free.
Even after giving every house in the slum a copy, I still had some manuals left over, so I went to a couple local public libraries, and newspaper stands, and donated some copies; after which I only had a few dozen copies left, that I didn't know what to do with.
I went to a busy street I often frequented with some scrap wood and some tools, and at an alley intersection I built the frame of a wooden box on a pole in the shape of a house, and put the sign that read “free martial knowledge” on it.
I stuck the remainder of my instruction manuals in it and called it a day.
I didn't know if the City would like what I had done, but what could they really say to me, I had given them Focus Shards.
I definitely knew how to take advantage of my superior leverage sometimes, and I inwardly chuckled at my naughtiness.
After having written the Manual, and imparting it to the needy, I finally felt like all my business in the City had been concluded.
The only thing left to do was to get rid of the last of my merchandise, after which when the day came, I could properly set out on my journey towards the Ranker Event.

Home of Laplace
I opened my eyes to an unfamiliar mountain peak standing tall above me like seeing a skyscraper from the street. Soon the chilling burn of the snow that covered me began to invade my senses and I flung my torso upward, sitting up straight. I grabbed my head in confusion as my eyes surveyed the area around me: The corner of a mountain wall stood menacingly in front of me accompanied by thin, dangerous looking paths on either side. The likes of which only adrenaline-seeking psychopaths would use. I turned my head backwards and felt my heart drop as what looked like an infinitely long freefall met my gaze. I was sitting on the ledge of a snow-covered mountain. "CRKKKK" A heart-shaking croaking sounded from above me further up the mountain and I jolted backwards at the impossibly loud sound. 'Shit, wasn't there nothing behind me?' The sound of cracking stone accompanied the heart dropping sensation of descension. As I plunged down backwards, the last thing I saw was the deep-set brown eyes of that blue-skinned monstrosity further up the mountain. ----------------------------------------------------- Levi Laplace is a former genius biochemistry student that died a simple and laughable death on earth. Parallels
Parallels are a constant in life. Our friends' lives often run parallel to ours; we share similar experiences or tastes- perhaps even both. Sometimes, however, opposites attract- and our lives run perpendicular. In that case, we are not attracted by similarities; rather, we are attracted to the differences in others. So, what happens when two parallels are broken apart? What might happen to them? Are they forever doomed to run alongside each other, never seeing one another, never meeting? Or, perhaps, might they be spun about? Could these lines that formerly ran alongside one another meet? Could they possibly be set perpendicular? Any feedback is welcome, so long as it is constructive. Also, you may not use any characters, ideas, places, or what have you that I present here without my explicit permission. A note: This is a story which I began over a year ago, but never got around to finishing- it feels about time to really get it going. Now, there are a couple of things about the story, and myself, that need to be said. First and foremost, there's a slow start, but by the third-fourth chapter things should be speeding up a bit. Secondly, in regards to release speed and/or word count per chapter, I make no promises- my schedule is fairly random, and in regards to word count, I will cut off any chapter at any point that feels appropriate to me- that may include cliffhangers, if necessary. I'm not trying to reach a specific word count, I am trying to create a cohesive story, with pseudo-appropriate chapter breaks. This means I will also not rush a half-baked release for the sake of getting a release out. Thirdly, I will make any edits, anywhere in the story and at any time, that strike me as necessary- typically being wording and/or formatting changes, but I may also decide to change major plot points- in that case I would put a notification in the next chapter released. Finally, and most importantly, I am a Christian; this story is intended to at least moderately reflect those values. So, if you particularly dislike any of these things, feel free to look elsewhere, and don't let the door hit you on the way out. God bless, friends.
