《W.A.R.F.R.A.M.E.》Chapter Five: Justin

The skies were dark, as clouds hovered above a city in ruins. Justin was breathing heavily inside his cockpit. His eyes were filled with panic and fear. His frame was hiding under a collapsed building lying down ready to snipe down his target. He was breathing erratically. Red lights and alarms went off, alerting him that an attack was coming.
The warrior frame flew out from the collapsed building with the thrusters on the jet on its back. It flew away but several scarlet bit blades flew across the sky going after him. In order to shake off the bits, the missile pods on the Warrior frame’s legs rotated and aimed at the incoming bits. Justin pulled the trigger and fires the missiles.
The blade bits easily avoided the missiles and made their way to Justin’s frame. Justin turned his frame to get a clear view of the blade bits and he began firing on them with his two rifles. The shots did not connect and one of the bits managed to get into his blind spot and struck. The frame lost its left arm before losing its right leg from a second attack. All five of the blade bits then converged on the chest of the Warrior frame. With each subsequent strike from the blade bits, Justin’s frame was pushed further down. He was losing altitude until the bits pushed his frame into a building. Justin’s frame crashed into the side of the building.
Caution signals blared all around his cockpit signifying that the frame had suffered great damage and it was about to be destroyed. Justin was inside the cockpit struggling to get his frame to work after it had sustained so much damage.
But just when he got it to work again, the building started to collapse and he heard the vile cackle of the person who had inflicted so much damage on his frame. “Hahaha, I’m disappointed.” The alarms in the cockpit blared as Justin’s warrior was suddenly grabbed from behind. The neck was being strangled and the rest of its limbs were also grabbed by what appeared to be pincers. They were about to pull the frame apart.
The voice cackled and mocked, “So what if your family’s one of the leading artists and assemblers of WARFRAME. In the end, you’re just a two-bit loser who can only create third-rate frames. You don’t have the capacity to pilot them either. People say that you are the favorite to reach state.” The vile person scoffs at that statement. Justin’s Warrior was then pulled apart by the pincers, and his cockpit became dark. Justin’s attacker then left him with a few parting words, “You’ve got zero talent for battle.” Justin went wide-eyed when he heard the statement. His eyes were filled with despair. Justin then slammed his fist against the console.

Justin opened his eyes. He got up and sat on his bed and muttered, “That dream again.” Justin looked out the window of his room, “Hopefully, today will get my mind off that incident.” Justin cleaned himself up and got dressed. He left his house after eating breakfast and made his way to school. Justin was in his class as he looked out the window. His gaze was empty. He was clearly distracted thinking about the recurring dreams he had been having. The bell rang and homeroom was about to start when a new teacher walked in. Justin turned his attention to the front of the class when he heard the rest of his classmates murmuring.
The teacher looked to be in his thirties with brown hair and dark brown eyes. His appearance was business casual with his tie hanging loosely around his neck and the top button unbuttoned. The teacher wrote his name on the board and then introduced himself. “Good morning class. My name is Brandon Myers and I will be your homeroom teacher from now on. All of you may call me Mister Myers. Also, you will be having a new transfer student. Vincent Porter, front and center.”
Vincent walks into the class and stood at the front of the room. “Hi everyone, I’m Vincent Porter. I’m all about video games, especially FPS games. And just yesterday I was introduced to this cool game called WARFRAME.” The entire class observed Vincent and murmured among themselves. The girls giggled and the boys were whispering about the most recent addition to their class roster. Mister Myers then comments, “I don’t believe this school has any online games club but I did hear something about them having a WARFRAME Club.” Vincent then chided in, “Yeah, I just joined the club. And I think we’re taking membership applications. Why don’t you come by and have a look-see.”
“Alright, that’s enough advertising Vincent. Now, why don’t you take your seat at the back of the class with I believe last week’s new transfer, Justin Walker? We need to start with homeroom.” Vincent nodded at Mister Myers' orders and proceeded to take his seat. When he sat down, Vincent turned to introduce himself to Justin. But when he saw the guy he exclaimed, “Ahhh! You’re the guy from yesterday.” Justin released an exasperated sigh, “Yes. And you still haven’t returned my base reader and cards back to me.” Vincent scratches the back of his head, “Sorry about that man. Listen, why don’t you come by the club later and I’ll return it to you then.” Justin sighed, “Fine. You had better return it. I put a lot of work into that.”

After class on-going, Vincent chatted up with Justin. “Dude, you were amazing yesterday. How about we go for another round today? Whaddya say?” Justin stretches his arms out and yawns, “I don’t play WARFRAME Battle anymore.” Vincent then inched in close to see Justin’s face, “Then why did you interrupt the battle yesterday?” Justin turned away, and Vincent commented, “Hey, don’t ignore me.” Vincent pouts. Then Mister Myers calls out. “Vincent, no talking during class.” Vincent apologizes. Justin looks out the window, his head was in the clouds. "I used to love playing WARFRAME. So, why did I quit? No, I know why. I just wanted to have some fun. But the others. They didn’t see the game the same way I do."
Lunch period had just started and Vincent had face-planted onto his desk. His stomach grumbled. "I need to get some lunch." Anna walks into the classroom and stood over Vincent. She taps his shoulder. Vincent looks up to see the senior who had introduced him to WARFRAME. “Huh, Anna?!” Anna smiled, “Come on sleepy head. It’s already lunchtime. How about we go grab ourselves something to eat. I’m starving. And while we’re at it. We can discuss what to do about your situation.” Vincent smiles, trying to shake off the sleepiness, “Sounds good to me.” Some of the boys in the class looked at Vincent in envy, “Isn’t that Anna Fischer from the 11th grade.” Another adds on, “I hear she’s the vice president of the WARFRAME Club.” Another commented, “Isn’t that lucky, newbie? You get to have lunch with such a pretty senior.” The first boy interrupts, “Then why don’t you try joining the WARFRAME Club?”
Vincent got up and was about to leave. He places his hand in his pocket and found that it was empty. He felt around all of his pockets to look for any signs of his lunch money. “It’s not here. Where did I put that thing?” Vincent looked around his pockets, his bag, and his desk, but could not find any sign of his lunch money. The door to the class opened and a beautiful young lady walked into the classroom. Her flawless appearance and smooth hair made her the epitome of beauty. The girls inside the classroom commented, “Isn’t that Maya Porter?” Another girl chimed in, “I heard that she has a budding modeling career.” Another girl agreed, “Yeah, I saw a picture of her on the cover of a magazine. All of the girls and boys could not help but admire the beauty of the senior that had just walked into the classroom.
The girls had several questions in their minds but their main one was, “Why is she here? What is she doing here?” Maya approached Anna and Vincent. She took some money out of her shirt pocket, “Vincent, you forgot to take this from me this morning. Seriously, you can be so careless sometimes.” Vincent takes the money from Maya. “Gee, thanks, sis! I can’t believe I made a careless mistake like this, again.” Maya giggled, “I know you can’t help it. Whenever you have your thoughts on something, you tend to forget about everything else.” Everyone in the class yelped in surprise by Vincent’s statement, “Sis!?” The boys were filled with envy, “What the heck is with this new guy?” Another commented, “Yeah, He’s just way too lucky.” Another chided in and almost shouted, “Damn it.”
