《W.A.R.F.R.A.M.E.》Chapter Thirty Five: Team Training Part 3

“Vincent, are you okay?” Frank asked as he steps out from behind one of the fallen stalagmites. Vincent came out from behind a large piece of ice. He looked around and saw that the coast was clear, before moving towards Frank, “I think so. My head is a little rattled though. Man, this game can really simulate the environment. My cockpit couldn’t stop shaking the entire time. What happened anyway?” Frank looks around and laughed, “Anna and Justin must’ve triggered the avalanche when it showed up.”
Frank continued to move in the direction of the cave at the end of the cavern. Along the way, Vincent asks, “When what showed up? Come on man, you have to tell me. How am I supposed to trust you if you don’t tell me?” When they arrived at the cave, Frank spoke, “Alright, this cave should lead us to the next cavern. Just like before, be prepared for a firefight.” Frank and Vincent made their way to the dark cave and the screen loaded.
When they came out at the other end. Frank immediately took cover behind a large rock. “Vincent, get to the other rock. Those guys are about to make an appearance.” Vincent saw the rock near the other side of the exit and crouched down behind it. “What are we doing?” Vincent asked. Frank checked on his weapon before taking out a grenade from his back. “The guys that are about to appear are a lot tougher than the ones we had just faced. And they are dead set on keeping us here. But they’re not the problem.”
Vincent did not know what Frank meant when enemy units began appearing. Vincent observed the enemy units and found that they all looked like white lizards with a curved sword in one hand and a small shield in the other. “These guys are going to be easy.” Vincent came out from behind the rock and began dashing around and firing his launcher. Frank was about to warn him but Vincent had already taken action. Explosions erupted all over the cavern before four more units appeared at the end of the cavern. They were similar Savage-types but instead of being equipped with a sword and shield, they were equipped with Gatling guns.

Frank yells at Vincent, “Vincent, get back here. The artillery has arrived. You need to get back here if you don’t want your frame to be full of holes.” Vincent was too busy enjoying himself that he did not hear Frank’s warning. The Gatling guns began rotating and fired. Vincent heard the loud noise of rapid-fire and turned to the source to see the units guarding the exit. He quickly backs away with his shield blocking most of the attack. By the time he had returned to his hiding spot, he had already taken a significant amount of damage.
Vincent breathed heavily, his expression was filled with panic, “What the heck was that?” he asks Frank. Frank just looked at Vincent with an expression saying, ‘What the heck am I going to do with this guy?’ Frank then answers, “I tried to warn you. The lizards may be easy targets but they’ve got backup. And they are packing heat.” Vincent took a few seconds to calm himself, “Okay captain, what do we do?” Frank then goes on to say, “I was going to tell you before you rushed in for the massacre.”
Frank goes on to explain, “The Gatling lizards don’t make an appearance unless you either proceed too far into the stage or you defeat a certain number of enemy units. Unfortunately for you, you triggered the first condition.” Vincent impatiently looks at Frank, “Okay, I get that. So what is your solution for this problem?” Frank shook his head, “I was getting to that.” Frank tossed the grenade in his hand, “I’m going to throw this at them. And while they’re distracted, I’ll snipe our four little troublemakers. Just don’t look when I throw this thing.”
Vincent stayed ducked behind the rock after receiving Frank’s warning. The Predator peeked out from behind the rock and threw the grenade in the air. It took the Gatling lizards a few seconds for them to aim their weapons at the grenade. But just as they were about to fire, the grenade explode and released a flash of blinding light. Inside the cockpit, Frank took out a pair of sunglasses and put them on over his face. “Lights out, reptiles.” Frank aimed his sniper rifle and saw them clearly through the scope. He pulls the trigger. It did not take long for him to get rid of the minor annoyances.

When Frank threw the grenade, Vincent got curious and peeked out to see what his captain would do. To his surprise, he was suddenly blinded by a bright light. “ARGHH! My eyes.” Vincent reacted instinctively and closed his eyes and covered them with his hand. A few tears had formed and they fell down his cheek. Vincent screamed at Frank, “WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?” After dealing with the lizards, Frank finally noticed Vincent’s predicament, “I told you not to look.” Vincent commented, “You didn’t tell me what you were going to do. How was I supposed to know you were going to use something like that?”
Frank sighs, “I told you didn’t I. I said don’t look. But you didn’t listen. You just had to look.” Vincent angrily comments, “Because you didn’t exactly fill me in on the plan.” Franks shook his head in disappointment, “You can’t expect me to fill you in on every part of the plan. There are just some things you can’t plan for. This was something I wanted you to figure out for yourself. You can’t always expect your opponents to move the way you want them to. There are just some things you can’t control.” Frank then gave Vincent an order, “You should be glad that we can still salvage this situation. Now get your butt out there and kick some cold-blooded lizard butt.”
It took a while for Vincent to get his vision back, but when he did so, he dashed out from behind the rock and destroyed enemy units left and right. Frank peeked out from behind his rock and took aim at the units in the distance that were making their way towards the Jakqoo V. He pulls the trigger and each of the units fell to the ground with holes in their heads before exploding resplendently.
Vincent puts away his launcher and takes out his dual beam axes, and began swinging. Each time one of the lizards would come near him, he would narrowly avoid the attack and counter with a one-hit kill. It did not take long for the pair to finish the job and clear the entire cavern of enemy units. Frank contacts Vincent again, “Alright, we’ve cleared this stage.” The Predator then pointed at the exit where he destroyed the four Gatling lizards. “Through there. Once we pass through that point, there’ll be no turning back. We’ll have to face the boss. Are you up for it?” Vincent was breathing heavily and it took him a few seconds to cool down. “Yeah. Let’s do it.”
Outside the caverns on the side of the mountain, snow slowly fell apart from the mound near the wall, revealing a crevice. The manta ray floated above the now snow-covered ground. The large shield of the Rosenkavalier detached from the back of the frame and reattached itself back on the frame’s arm. Coming out of the crevice, Anna pulled Justin out, “How are you feeling?” Justin comments, “Aside from being buried alive under a ton of snow, peachy. What happened anyway?” Anna looks around the snow-covered path, “It was the Frost Drake. The boss of this mission. At one point in this stage, it will harass players before setting off an avalanche."
