《Chakra Spider》Chapter 21

While, Peter was in the base the crime world started moving once again. The regeneration serum had been progressing so far and soon human trials could be done.
Connor was so excited that he couldn't even leave his lab as he continued to research without going to back home.
He wanted to get his arm back, without it he felt incomplete. He didn't want to see those looks of pity and feel the emptiness.
Life with just one arm was not for him and a mechanical arm was not his thing, he wanted a real arm.
To him this project was everything and he had invested too much into it.
But it seems dark forces had their eyes on his treasure. In the middle of the night, Shocker entered the lab without any difficulty to steal the serum and the information under Kingpin's command.
Shocker also known Herman Schultz's was an orphan from a very young age and had to survive with his younger brother. From a young age Schultz turned to a life of crime however, he soon realized he wasn't particularly good at it, having been arrested several times.
After one robbery gone wrong, Herman was arrested again, but was sent to the prison workshop, where he used the resources around him to project and build gauntlets that sent out shock waves which quickly opened safes as well, giving himself a one-up on the authorities. The Shocker had the ability to shock his enemies with his hand held vibro-shock units, but because the vibrations were so fierce, he wore a heavily insulated suit. His act was successful and soon he made a name for himself that attracted crime lords to him.
Early on in his career Shocker often acted as either a thief or subordinate to more prominent mob bosses such as Silvermane.
But once Kingpin took over, he became one of his men like Silvermane. His abilities had also been improved as he had received the super soldier serum and better equipment.

He had even gotten training to improve his skills that it allowed him to compete with Captain America one on one.
His loyalty to Kingpin was unquestionable as the man had given him everything and made him the best he could be.
Before Kingpin, he had no ounce of loyalty to anyone and he just did his job. He didn't think much about things and did his job without a question unless it affected his life.
Today was an easy mission but they sent him in case Spiderman appeared and there was back up just in case.
They wanted this project so all preparations were done.
Looking around the lab, Shocker started gathering up the files as the scientist from the base communicated to him.
He was silent but Connor was too excited to sleep properly and he woke up to see Shocker moving around the room gathering things.
The data was being stolen from the paper files and digital files by this thief.
This was his dream and he couldn't allow anyone to steal it. Looking around discreetly, Connor decided to handle the criminal and sound the alarm.
But the moment he stood up from the seat, Shocker noticed him because of his equipment that allowed him to notice any noise and heat signatures around him.
"Doctor, you should have continued to sleep. Now I will have to get violent with you, blame yourself for being too restless old man." Shocker said in condescending tone as he looked back and saw Connor.
"You won't get away with this, leave now and I will forget about it."
"Haha, I didn't know you were a comedian doctor. I would love to hear more jokes but I am operating on a time limit so go back to sleep now." Shocker chuckled as he closed the distance between them easily and hit him in the abdomen with a low level shock to knock him out.
He was told not to kill the man as he was working for the army and the security had been tight but sadly nothing really special for him since the doctor's work wasn't given that much importance.

Seeing the doctor collapse to the ground, Shocker went back to his work but Connor was still awake. His body was barely able to move because of the shock and pain.
His anger and despair kept him anchored as he watched the man pillage his life.
He couldn't allow it to happen. The finding would be cut if all the samples were stolen and no result was shown.
The data and sample were too precious, even more than his life.
Connor moved his hand and took out one of the sample from his lab coat. In his excitement he couldn't help but keep one with him.
Looking at the green liquid, Connor downed it as he didn't have the injection for the proper procedure. The affect should still take place through oral use.
He knew it was defective at the moment and only wished to gain the power up to save his project.
Shocker was about to steal the samples when he heard growls of a beast and looked back to see that the doctor had started transforming.
His skin was getting covered by scales; his body had grown taller and muscular while his missing arm was back.
"Oh, man. Not this shit." Shocker muttered as he dashed forward to finish him off before it went any further. He wasn't some fighting maniac that would wait for the transformation.
Shocker hit Connor in the abdomen with a stronger attack that sent him crashing into the wall and destroying things that came in the way but it healed very quickly.
The affect of the medicine was very strong and the change happened too quickly because of taking it through the mouth.
Connor could feel his human side get affected by an alien side, it wasn't strong enough but it was reacting to his rage.
Growling, Connor launched himself at Shocker but the man saw him coming and kicked him in the face where he had also installed the shockers.
Once again it sent the doctor flying into the lab equipment and caused him to black out for a moment while the alarm started.
"Shit, I got distracted." Shocker muttered as he quickly went towards the samples. They were considered half of his mission and couldn't be left behind.
Roar
"Not again" Shocker muttered with annoyance and saw the transformation had finished. The doctor now had a lizard head and tail.
Going on all fours the creature jumped to the ceiling and attacked from above.
Shocker could see that it was getting too dangerous for him now as he dodged the bite and the tail came at him as he had jumped to the side.
He caught the tail but the force behind it carried him.
"Get shocked" Shocker turned it up and hit him with his best shot, causing the Lizard to spasm and fall limply.
"I really hate fuckers with healing factors." Shocker kicked Connor away and quickly got back to his business. Putting away the items inside the brief cases as ordered, he walked away leaving Connor cold.
It didn't take him long to awaken and he pounced towards Shocker who was leaving but the man wasn't interested in a fight anymore.
Shocker signalled his men and they fired upon Connor, giving him the chance to slip away into the shadows.
With the anti-tank rifles tier weapons, Connor was riddled with holes and escaped back inside to avoid fire.
Even though he was becoming animalistic, it didn't mean he didn't have a survival instinct.
The helplessness of this situation only drowned him further into the cold nature of his new existence and he knew his targets for this vengeance to be extracted.

Paths of the Chosen (Rewritten, Revised, and Reinvigorated)
Daniel Stewart was chosen to alpha test a brand new Immersive VR game, "The Realms". What he doesn't know is that he has also been Chosen by one of the Powers of a far-off world, and is now a pawn in a game much bigger than any he thought he would ever participate in. Will he survive and thrive in this strange new world, or will he stumble and fall, shattered by the ambitions of another? Does he have what it takes to walk the Paths of the Chosen?---Inspired by the Chaos Seeds novels, TheDespaxas's The Gamer, and a wide variety of games and books, although the world, characters, and systems are my own. Expect high fantasy, magic, combat and intrigue, love and loss, grief and passion. This story is intended for adult audiences and contains explicit sexual content, profanity, and violence (including sexual violence, although not by the protagonist and not as a focus of the story). Chapters with such content will be clearly marked, and all explicit sexual content will be behind spoiler tags. I prefer my stories to have happy endings, and especially in these uncertain times, I feel that it is important to maintain hope. While this tale will reach some dark places, I promise to you that, when all is said and done, the villains will be justly punished and the heroes will prevail and prosper. Remember: it is darkest before dawn, but dawn always comes. Please note also that although this story does not have the [Harem] tag, it does have an extremely slow build into a polyamorous relationship. Additionally, starting with Champion (book two of the series), the [Multiple Lead Characters], [Female Lead], and [Non-Human Lead] tags would also apply to varying degrees. This is a complete, ground-up rewrite of the original Paths of the Chosen, following feedback from here and elsewhere. It is now written in the third-person limited omniscient perspective and in the past tense. In addition, while the major plot beats are unchanged, most of what comes between them has been reconsidered and rewritten, with pacing and characterization as a special focus.---Update schedule: 2 chapters per week (Monday and Thursday), not counting bonus chapters. Chapter length is roughly 2,500 words on average, +/- 1,000 words. Chapters with explicit content tend to be longer so that they are still worth reading for those who would prefer a fade to black. --- Cover art by Agri Karuniawan (@artofagri). Ars Magica
Our vision comes back into focus. Our eyes, while being able to perceive the immediate surroundings, still leave us with our minds uncomprehending towards what is actually occurring. Sure, there are definitive things that we can focus on, like the fact that we're either out upon the open sea or the open ocean, there not being much of a difference with no land in sight, as well as the fact that we appear to be upon a haphazardly constructed metal boat, whose seams are barely able to keep a hold of themselves in the crashing waves. However, that does not let us understand what exactly is causing the waves in the first place. If we were to rewind time, we'd find ourselves upon a calm sea under a peaceful sky with the only difference, being a small whirlpool that would be the precursor towards this uproar around the boat. Lightning flashes in the sky, with no clouds being near, and anyone actually manning the boat has either died towards the cause of the smashing tides in the first place, or are fighting amongst the flashes of lightning, all while trying not to become devoured, demolished, and utterly decimated by the beast roiling in the whirling waves. To better understand exactly what is happening here, there is one singular event that needs to be understood, that needs to be explained, and that is the arrival of a creature named Dave. Stepping back from current events and going towards this creature's first appearance in the world, we begin to hear the sound of water slowly dripping across rocky ground. The cavern is utterly silent except for this one constant, its cause feeding channels downwards, sloping towards cracks in the rubble along the floor from broken stalagmites and stalactites. And there, lying on top of something which had fallen over recently, judging from its cracks, is a person, the creature named Dave. His form is fast asleep, either from the impact or from an intoxication, judging from the smell upon its breath. A bright light suffuses into it for a second, giving life towards the pale skin, before it slowly dies down back to the comfortable black of the cave that it's within. Before this moment in time, Dave did not exist in the physical world. At least, not in the reality that he finds himself born into. We do not know whether or not his existence is simply a cosmic joke, or something that is being played out on purpose. All that we do know, is that one moment, the body was not in the cave, and simply formed in the next. The actual earliest time that we know Dave exists, is the interpolation of the memories of J-209, which we'll begin looking into shortly to gain context towards the coming narrative that is being written and hastily trying to keep itself written. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Warning: This story has several things which might turn its readers away. The first is that this story has shifting points of perspective. Don't worry about that previous sentence too much though, as the main character will always have a first person perspective associated with them. However, any other character from which we're viewing the story from will either be in third-person, as we are not necessarily in their shoes at the moment, or in first person, given that the narrator is an actual physical presence within the story. For the most part, chapters will be self-contained with their perspectives, so there will not be an abundance of switching perspectives within the same chapter. The most that an average reader would have to worry about is the fact that perspectives can switch between chapters. The second thing is that the main character is a bit on the 'special' side of things. He's not exactly mentally there most of the time, so there will be some times that his personality or his thoughts do not actively align with his actions. The third, and final thing of importance, is the fact that past the first couple of chapters, nothing has been planned in advance. There are arcs and plots that I want to do, want to implement, or have already been set into motion from our main character's introduction to the world, but the method that I use for my story writing and generating leads towards a bit more random chance being enabled. Basically...there's a lot of dice rolling behind the scenes. To not complicate the story further than its regular LitRPG elements, the rolls will not be publicly available. However, there will be knowledge within the author's notes on whether or not there were positive or negative critical rolls that had occurred within the chapter. You have been warned. Updates: Mondays & Fridays (Schedule permitting) Typical Chapter Length: (2,000-3,000)
