"Thank you so much for teaching what are dogs. I already own so much to you. How can I ever repay you?" (hunter)
"Normally I would say: I´m just happy to be useful to you, But I indeed need your help with something." (Gargoile)
"How may I help you?" (hunter)
"I need to find out what it is like outside here. I could only help you because you were close enough here. I need geography information about this place." (Gargoile)
"Why do you need that? It isn´t like I don´t trust you but it is illegal to sell maps. I think you are asking exactly that." (hunter)
"I am." (Gargoile)
"Like I said. Why do you need that?" (hunter)
Many people have gotten themselves killed because they sold maps. Even if you don´t get got then someone would come with army and attack there. Only extreme fool would do so by any reason. I am greatful for him but this is a whole another case.
"I need it to survive. You think that I am great wizard but I am gargoyle. I have meet those who have accepted me as who I am but that isn´t enough. I have caused troubles for them. They can´t be with me. They must at some point betray me or they will perish. That can´t go on. I must gain power to protect those who accept me. For that I need knowledge as much as possible." (Gargoile)
"I understand that part but all knowledge here can be shared with everybody. Just so you know. There is strong military country right next to us. I doubt that they would attack my country but I can´t take that risk. I want to help you but I can´t." (hunter)

"I see. Forget about it. That would be better for both of us." (Gargoile)
"No problem. I have something I would like to ask you. My dog is acting kind of strange. It is like she knows something is going to happen. Do you have any idea what might be cause of it?" (hunter)
"Let me think. Someone might be trespassing. No that is just stupid. Village would have noticed that easily. Nothing was stolen then it can´t be thief. Wait! I have an idea. Animals are capable of noticing small differences which causes natural catastrophes. It might be storm or even a hurricane. I assume animals aren´t moving around except to hide or run away from here." (Gargoile)
"That sounds like it. I didn´t see any animals around when I came here. I thought they were trying to stay as far as they could from here.Seems like it isn´t the case here. Is there anyway I could prepare for it." (hunter)
"Sadly no. I don´t have methods to find out what is going to happen. This is one reason I wanted to find out geography here. I´m sorry to bring it up again." (Gargoile)
"Don´t worry. This is imergency. My village is right next to cliff. I know what you are going to say. We have to live there because everywhere else there is danger of floods. We have tried to find solutions for preventing cave-ins. As for now no building is too close to it. That can´t last much longer." (hunter)
"Is village under or top of the cliff?" (Gargoile)
"In the top. Like I said. Everywhere else floods are as common as books here." (hunter)
"In that case no matter what disaster happens that cliff is dangerous place to stay. I would like to ask you to move but that isn´t possible. I would like to advice you to plant trees on top of it. That moght prevent cave-ins. You should keep everyone close to cliff away from it. At least a few days even after if something happens. Cliff might start to move later. That is all I can advice you. I´m sorry to be so little use to you." (Gargoile)

"Don´t be. You did everything you could and it isn´t like this is your fault." (hunter)
"I hope to see you week later as one piece." (Gargoile)
"Don´t say something so sinister." (hunter)
We had no idea what kind of situation we ended up with.

Of Gods and Dungeons
March 16, 2021 - Hiatus note: I will come back to this story! I'm really struggling with it, though. It's been a number of years and I kind of forgot what the original outline was. I still remember the main path, but not any of the details, because I stupidly didn't write an outline. Progress is being made. I'd like a very decent sized buffer before I start posting again. Don't want to get hopes up only to immediately disappoint! ----- Amy Barnes, an aspiring chemical researcher, finds herself dying from cancer. One of her most desperate prayers is answered in a way that she'd never dreamed possible, and she finds herself living a new life as a dungeon. Warning: Violence, morbidity Cover: Taken from here, courtesy of www.pexels.com by photographer @tookapic. Author's Note: I've read some dungeon core stories on here, and they've tickled my fancy. I've thought up a whole story, start to finish, and thought it'd be a blast to put it into words. Other than the violent and morbid aspects, this story is suitable for children. Aside from the vocabulary, that is. I will avoid the temptation to have any cursing, sexuality, or gore. Excessive gore, I suppose - it is a dungeon story, after all. I’ll do a little research from time to time, but this story will not have a great deal of rigor. I’ve made Amy’s knowledge comparable to my own for that reason. There’s a few things she knows more about than I do, and a few things that she knows less about. Unlike me, she doesn’t have access to Google - it’s a non issue for her to be more knowledgeable than me, on occasion :P This story does not use the same magic system that I’ve used in either Sorcery in Boston or A Summoner’s Confession. This one is mostly intention based, and designed to be easier access for people who are more used to the idea of, “It’s magic, therefore it works” kind of thinking. Do note that Amy is, in most senses of the term, overpowered. This goes along with the usual dungeon core stories. She’s not more powerful than other dungeons per se, but she does have knowledge and intelligence that puts them to shame. I thought about doing this in a LitRPG style, but systems take balance, and I wanted this to be pure fun to write. This story was inspired from a few sources. Despite the title, it wasn’t really inspired by Of Mice and Men, though some of the themes match. Rather, I’ve taken inspiration from a few dungeon core novels on Royal Road Legends for the main idea. Many conventions of dungeon core stories have been perverted from the genre, however. I’ve taken my usual science-loving self to town to play around with the powers, and I can only hope you have half as much fun reading this as I have had writing it.
