LBF Chapter 9 Home
The boy grew up, participating in fights under the supervision of his father. Using the boy's powers, they even joined some battlefields, but they managed to keep a low profile, making it so that the boy wasn't discovered to be a god.
After another hundreds of years, the boy did something that made him legendary, he challenged a god to mortal combat and won!
Most of the 9 gods had exchanged moves, even going into heated battles, leading to severe injuries, but none had died! Yet, a previously unknown god killed one of them!? Every being in the universe found it unbelievable!
The remaining ones eventually decided to follow the boy...now a man's commands. No one, except for the gods, knew why, how, and what happened.
The man ordered the ceasing of all hostilities and a pact was made. Each, of the now nine gods were also required to create 10 life planets in a solar system of their choice. Even when newly risen gods appeared in the future, they had to abide by the same pact.
Peace was at last achieved.
-----
Year 12,342, Earth's solar system.
The planets in Earth's solar system hadn't registered any large change. Except that the solar system was cluttered with many technological devices like weapons, residences and satellites. They littered over all the planets.
There was also another change. A new planet existed within the solar system. It was roughly the same size of earth, and its atmosphere seen from outer space signified that it could support human life. It was orbiting the sun in earth's own orbit. Its position in the orbit was that of being directly opposite Earth's. The planet was named Nearth, and it had been one of ten life planets created by that god, whose origin was Earth.
At the edges of the solar system, thousands of kilometers away from the orbit of the farthest planet from the sun, a red whirlpool rotating in a clockwise direction abruptly appeared without any warning.

It was leaking out crimson light as if announcing its existence. It even caused a distortion in the surrounding space.
[Spatial anomaly detected. Its believed to be a warp tunnel. The elemental energies detected suggest that a demigod level life form is going to crossover.]
An alarm simultaneously rang out in multiple spatial outposts. They were the first line of defense in case the solar system ever suffered an invasion. They were black cubes floating in space with an array of scanners. They were about 1m squared, and they were managed by an AI. It had sent the information over to one of the main outposts.
"Do we know the owner of the energy signature?" A man asked. He was clutching a cup in his hands drinking a certain brew. He was in one of the main outposts, also a cube but with a size of 10km squared. He wasn't particularly too worried as the alarm hadn't been one signifying the arrival of a threat.
[According to all the available data, its Demigod Blood.]
The man paused for a second the moment the AI passed over such information. He hurriedly switched over to the video feed and the crimson whirlpool entered his eyes.
"Lord Blood is back!...I need to welcome him back personally." The man became excited, even dropping everything that he had been doing to make his way out of the cube. He flew through space towards the direction of the whirlpool.
Demigod Blood's numerous battles since he started his growth had created numerous legends. Demigod Blood was one of the few demigods renowned in the wide galaxy. The man felt pride in his chest as he reminisced the numerous tales. That pride came from the fact that such a figure was from Earth.
"Lord Blood!"
"The legend is back, how long has he been gone for?"
"57 years! If he's coming back, does that mean that another has fallen by his hands?"

"That would mean that he has managed to kill ten demigods! Demigods! Not some chickens...but motherfucking demigods!"
The news had spread to all the outposts and even made its way to the two inhabited planets before the man had even stepped out of the whirlpool. The prevailing emotions for the majority of the population were those of excitement!
The video of the whirlpool became live streamed across many places and people anticipated the moment the legendary arrived.
The man who had flown out to personally welcome him was a five elemental string human.
The moment he reached a few thousand meters away, he patiently and respectfully waited.
A foot came out of the center of the whirlpool as the many watching held their breath. Then the entire silhouette of a person entered their vision.
It was a black skinned man, with crimson pupils which were bright like gems. He was clad in a red suit and his handsome visage was currently very relaxed. His red hair cascaded down his back and he breathed in deeply the moment he made it out of the portal
'Home is still the best.' He thought as he felt all the particles that had made it into his lungs, from elemental particles, to photons.
"Welcome back, Lord Blood." The man knelt on one knee and gave a suitable welcome.
"Hmmm." Demigod blood nodded in acknowledgement, but his eyes were focussed on the blinding sun in the distance. It was a bit smaller than some of the ones he had seen, but it was comforting to him because it signified that he had made it back home.
'Too bad I will be leaving instantly.' He lamented at that. But his pursuit didn't allow him to stay holed up in one place.
"Who is currently watching over the solar system?" He asked. The current Earth had produced one God and another four demigods, with him being one of the four. They took turns watching over the solar system in the absence of the others.
But due to his nature of not wanting to dit in one place doing nothing, he had never taken in the job.
"Damien. Welcome back. I take it that you have finally managed off the last demigod? Mmmm?" A woman's voice entered his ears before the man could answer. The man from the outpost shivered at the voice, so he hurriedly excused himself.
"Make sure you turn off the surveillance here." The woman's voice floated in his ears, causing him to take out a device and deliver an order. That caused all the cameras to be deactivated.
Space unnaturally fluctuated in front of Blood and a woman walked out. She was staring at him with a gaze of infatuation.
She had black hair, black gem like pupils and she was clad in a scaled body suit which made her curves appear prominent in all the right places.
"Miss Darkness." He spat out as if even saying that title was an affront to his tongue. A frown abruptly appeared on his face.
'Why is she here?' He wondered.
TRIVIA
A person with the amalgam of all the seven strings is crowned god. They are at an entirely different life level. They also no longer posses the ability to use the seven elements, only their divinities. The seven elements shun them. Their lifespans are in the millions of years. At six strings, the seventh string can only be merged at a single point. If you fail to find it during your entire lifetime as a demigod, then you won't be able to cross over and become a god.

Blightbane
Miscellaneous Notes: - I want to see about making a crude map of Shroud to help readers. - I also want to get back to writing Coalescence updates. Schedule Notes: - None for now, updates when I can. [ Thank you for your patience and support as I improve my writing and storytelling abilities. I'm also using this story to better develop lore that extends far beyond it. ] Thanks to another exceptionally talented artist, Hiroeth, Blightbane now has an official cover! Vera was alone again. “You’re completely unprepared. Never before has sending one of you off made me feel quite so guilty.” Whenever she found herself in doubt, she would weigh her actions against the guiding principles of the one whom she revered. “When you don’t know the rules of the game, start making them up. When you are constrained by unfavorable conditions, inject a little chaos.” It was the supplementary message that concerned Vera the most. It was difficult to follow because it was intentionally vague and mired in subjectivity. “How can I enjoy myself when you look so tormented? Are we in danger?” Vera fell silent. An experiment is taking place on a planetary scale. Across the surface of the planet, a phenomenon referred to as "Blight" is spreading. Festering regions defended by fierce creatures called “blightbeasts” taint the surface, warping the land and proliferating unceasingly. Among the sentient creatures of the planet, it is the Blightbane Guild’s responsibility to stem the tide. They endeavor to cleanse the land in a struggle of attrition, but they are losing ground. A young man named Caim has been uprooted from his former life and transported to The Shrouded Theocracy, an isolationist nation with fanatical policies. He must struggle to survive with only an unfamiliar strain of magic to aid him. There is a secret to this magic. One he knows very little about. He intends to explore just what makes this magic special. On the far border of the theocracy, a mage scientist named Inis discovers a revolutionary new way to infuse strength from defeated blightbeasts. Using herself as a test subject, this process allows her to grasp magical concepts previously thought beyond her reach. Though she tries to document any side effects that arise, something escapes her awareness. She is playing with a dangerous force that will claim her most treasured asset if she isn't careful. Everyone and everything on the planet is a part of the experiment. The experiment is a lie.

Death, Aralt realizes, might be the greater mercy. ---------------------------------------------------------- What to Expect: Character-driven Plot Novel Pacing (which I accept isn't typical for serials) Elaborate Worldbuilding (you gotta pay attention) Soul-bonded Swords Sentient Wolves Longish Chapters What Not to Expect: Litrpg (sorry!) Harem (not sorry!) Magic System Short Chapters Dancing Bears (at least so far) Seriously, this is a second-world low fantasy/science-fantasy featuring a strong, but flawed male protagonist, a cheeky teenage boy that’s driving him crazy, a wee bit o’ Scots flavor, and a whole lot of culture clashing. I’m preparing to relaunch this story on Kindle once the second and third books are ready and I’d love some feedback as I move through those revisions. I'm serious about the feedback. All comments are welcome. I'll name a characters after you. And kill them, if you want. :) Oh, did I mention soulless assassins and cannibals? Yeah, Aralt’s day is not getting any better. cover image by brosedesignz
