《The Devil's Parcel》Chapter 10: Cerberus

It had been over a month after the city had been built, and the trade deals went to plan. The country was quite popular now with people and children roaming the city's streets. They even named the center point Leon's square. Everyone was happy, and Lilith had no problem with that.
The importing and exporting was also doing very well. Angels province and Sol had become the most significant countries in terms of money, and this caused the neighboring country of Zen to grow infuriated
*Slam* The 'king' of Zen was growing more and more impatient while waiting for the report from assassins he had sent out a few days ago to claim Lilith's head. At that moment in time, The King thought he would end Lilith's rule and claim the land, but instead, he set off a chain of events that would lead to his death and the death of many innocent people.
"My queen, you don't need to stop by the city every day to ensure we are doing well. You have been doing this routine ever since you became queen. You should rest."
The other villages always told Lilith this before becoming a city. However, this time was different because she realized they didn't need her to ensure their safety. "Fine. But I will be coming every month instead. I will also try and get a few more guards stationed here."
With their conversation finished, Lilith left the city and went on her way home with the others.
Lilith hadn't gotten a break since she was last in school all that time ago. However, Lilith was actually looking forward to enjoying her time at home and spending it taking care of her egg.
In truth, Lilith spent all of her free time taking care of her egg, she knew she had to take care of it closely, but she didn't know how to, which ended up with her spending more time than she had to on the egg. But she loved every minute of it.
Lilith thought about what she would eat before Benjamin interrupted her thoughts, saying, "Lilith watch out were under attack.". These words put Lilith on the defensive. She noticed fireballs approaching their wagon. Everyone jumped and dispersed before reconvening.

Lilith readies her weapon with the others as they see an army from Zen approach them. "I told you this would end up happening" Benjamin referred to what he told Lilith a month prior about Zen.
"Now's not the time to gloat" Lilith knew that Zens army wasn't that strong magically, but they were outnumbered, and not to mention the nearest guards were thirty minutes out.
"Lilith, Run!" Lillia was telling Lilith this because she knew the chances were slim. "NO"
The army of about five hundred was approaching fast, and they would collide with them in about thirty seconds.
"Lilith, it's three versus five hundred. We are not winning this. RUN!"
Lilith was tired of being saved by everyone, but most importantly, she was tired of running. Lilith was going to try to summon the soul of a dragon hoping her knowing Alastor would allow them to agree to her call. Still, instead, she heard a voice calling her, "Don't waste your time on dragons. Summon me instead. I already agree to your call."
Knowing she didn't have enough time left, she summoned the figure calling for her. It was a three-headed dog and a huge one. The dog leaped in front of the trio and incinerated the army in one go. Everyone was in shock at what had just happened but for different reasons. Lillia and Benjamin were in shock because Lilith summoned something so powerful, but Lilith was in shock because the dog used the same type of fire that Alastor used.
The dog turned to Lilith, walked up to Lilith, and proceeded to Lick her. His tongue went through her because he was just a soul. Seeing this happen, the dog started growing a physical form. It was horrid hearing bones cracking and meat tearing and expanding. But once it was all said and done, the dog's skin was like that of an alligator but soft as cotton. The tail was a snake, and the eyes had fire coming out of them. The eyes and the mouth of the dog also had fire coming out of them.

Benjamin and Lillia are too scared to speak, but Lilith asks a question, "Why did you call to me."
The dog opens his mouth and talks."I was entrusted with guarding you."
Lilith remembers the power Abel gave her. "You were a gift from Alastor?"
"Something of the sort, I was gifted as a pet. Think of a Father giving a child their pet."
"So you're my pet now?"
"That's what I'm saying" The dog shrinks to the size of a wolf, and his skin changes to fur. He looks like a regular dog except for the tail and three heads.
Lilith pets the dog and asks him a question 'What is your name?"
"Cerberus," the dog answers
"Okay, Cerberus, will you keep staying in that physical form or stay spiritual?"
Cerberus said he would stay in his physical form to get love and affection.
After their conversation finished wrapping up, soldiers from the city came to help the queen, but all they saw was ash on the floor, and they smelled the lingering smell of burnt flesh.
"My queen, what happened?" one of the guards asked
"Enemies from Zen attacked us. I'll take this as their invitation to war."
"My queen, with all respect, will war really be necessary?"
"They attacked me."
Lillia and Benjamin looked at each other, confused because Lilith never acted like this. She was always trying to find a peaceful solution, but not this time.
"I'm tired of getting viewed as a pushover."
"Yes, my queen! I will tell the army to get ready for battle on your command."
"Good."
Lilith and the others make it home without any ambushes, and they speak on the matter.
"Lilith, arent you acting a little rash?" Lillia was concerned Lilith was going over the top
"Acting a little rash? If I wasn't as nice as I was, Leon would still be alive, and Alastor would still be here!" Lilith clearly kept her emotions hidden, and she finally busted.
"Lilith, calm down" Benjamin tried to get Lilith to relax, but she wasn't having it. "Calm down? That relaxed attitude is what led to Leon's death."
"Now, isn't this entertaining" everyone turns around to see a man holding Lilith's egg
"It's you, Abel," Lilith said.
"You know him?" Lillia said, holding her weapon
"What's up with you guys always holding your weapons when people talk?" Abel was not wrong, Lilith thought, but she put that in the back of her mind.
"Why are you here?" Lilith said calmly
"I came to offer my services as your royal guard."
"Why?"
"I want to see what Alastor sees in you, and from what I have seen, it's a lot. That and being stuck in a seal all the time isn't fun." Abel cracked his neck to prove his point
Lilith thinks it over for a bit and agrees, "Fine. You're as strong as Alastor, so we'll need that strength to fight this war.
"I'm not that strong right now. Most of my strength is still in the seal, and only Alastor can release it. But I'm still strong enough to handle the super army they have.
"Super army?" Lilith asked
"Some of their armies are imbued with strength equal to the strength the shards of heaven grant."
Everyone shivered instead of Cerberus.
"Those shards have always been nothing but trouble," Cerberus said with a look of disapprovement.
"How would they get that type of power?"
"Zen has been stealing the power of prisoners and using the stored power to fuel their army's strength. But their armies are only pure strength, no skill."
"So it's skill vs. strength."
"Exactly"
Lilith thinks about Sol's odds before responding, "Let's declare war."

Ten Thousand Sallys
Imagine waking up in a hospital room, you can barely move. No one comes when you call. The only other person present is a little boy, who is, surprisingly, more help than you would expect. What would you do? This is the exact situation Sally finds herself in. Almost immediately she discovers that nothing is what she thinks it is. Not the boy, not the hospital, maybe not even herself. She is in deep trouble and the consequences will be dire if she can’t find a way out. She is a fighter, though, and just doesn't quit. As a baseline human, she starts as the lowest of the low and has to claw her way up in spite of being tangled in a shifting web of schemes and plots. She has to do her best, and maybe her best is pretty good. As Sally uncovers more about her situation, she finds that she has to be smart and tough and that in this place she needs to depend on her friends, who are using her as much as she is using them. This book contains themes concerning life, death, and body functions, light swearing, minimal nakedness, and should be suitable for most. Some pertinent info: Ten Thousand Sallys is a complete novel of approximately 140 pages in 20 chapters. Around 80,000 words. not too long, and maybe too short. Give it a read and let me know your opinion.
