March 8th, 1978
City of Empire
Uptown, Empire 1:38 AM
At Archangel Michael's hospital. A fifth-generation Irish-Little Birden woman gave birth to a healthy baby boy whom she named "Darick Beacon Ryan" but she then handed him over to her husband who's wearing a dark blue shirt, dark blue tie, dark blue trousers, and a utility belt that has handcuffs, a .38 double-action revolver, a notebook, and a twenty-three inch oak baton.
He gave his wife of four years back their newborn son.
It wasn't a year later that on February 14th, 1979 Darick's parents gave birth to a baby girl named "Sonata Ryan".
Unknown to them that they come from a long line of police officers dating back to 1888 when the first Ryan's immigrated to Little Bird to the city of Empire where they had a choice of either to work in the mines, work in the city's infrastructure, or be patrolmen.
The years were fine and the two siblings got along fine. But they didn't like it when their father had to work nights. They loved their father but never understood why he was very standoffish.
In 1990 when Darick was twelve his mother told him that their father is standoffish due to in 1967 when he was seventeen he was drafted for the Little Bird Army to fight in the Vietnam war but in 1970 when he was a flamethrower operator his unit was ordered to blow up caves but he burned one out that had civilians in it.
Darick was only twelve and only did twelve-year-old things like going to the movies on Friday night with a dollar to get a ticket, popcorn, soda, and candy and have twenty five cents as change. He hardly didn't know anything about the Vietnam war due to him only being in Middle school.

When Darick started the eighth grade that's when he met Linda Richter because their lockers were next to each other and noticed her locker on the inside has a patch says "FIRE DEPARTMENT EMPIRE BAY". That's because her family been firefighter's since the city's foundation in 1710 and the city's nickname is Empire Bay because it sits on a bay.
Darick's locker on the inside has a patch that says "POLICE DEPARTMENT CITY OF EMPIRE".
Despite the two's family occupational hate for each other due to Linda's family being firefighter's and Darick's family being police officers the two occupations hate each other even though the two families never met.
In 1992. While in school fourteen-year-old Darick was called out of class for a family emergency so he and Sonata went with their mother to Liencey hospital but they wondered what it was.
At the hospital, the two saw a lot of cops mostly in body armor.
It was their uncle who's a cop and he was shot point-blank range with two double 00 twelve-gauge buckshot. They were able to say their goodbyes besides Darick because he and his uncle never got along and Darick had nothing to say to him even while he was dying.
