'Not humans, at least'
Holding the scorpion Evo in his hand, he familiarized himself with it.
He was currently in his base, he was fiddling with the new gun he had. It was not what he wanted but it was better than nothing.
As he was holding it, he remembered his conversation with his uncle,
"Alright kid," His uncle said as he signaled for someone to get something.
Alex thought they were gonna brings guns for him to choose from but the person came back carrying only a scorpion Evo and some boxes of ammo.
"Wha... Isn't that just a pistol?" Despite his little knowledge of guns, he could still recognize that as a pistol.
"Well since you're trying out a new hobby, don't you think it's better to start at the beginning? haha," His uncle laughed a bit.
"Is there anything else?"
"We got a few more pistols if you'd like?"
"Forget it" In the end, Alex stood down as it was better than a normal pistol that could only hold about 10 rounds, if he was not wrong this gun could be fitted with a magazine that could hold at least 30 rounds.
The person put it on the counter and just as he was about to grab it and put it inside his bag... A hand stops him.
"Hold up... You get this but I got one condition." His uncle said.
Raising his eyebrow Alex asked. "What is it?"
As if this was his intention from the beginning his uncle said.. "Visit your father, this Saturday he will come to inspect his restaurants, I want you to visit him"
Alex grimaced at what he said.. he tried to open his mouth to deny it but he stopped.. pondering for a second.. he slowly said...
"If.... I agree with that condition... Can I get a different gun?" He knew he had to meet with his father anyway sooner or later, after all your son, who lived independently and never called for a few years suddenly had an interest in guns to the point that he'd rely on things he hated is pretty weird. He just didn't expect it would happen soon so he bargained with his uncle.
Seeing him easily agree, slight surprise flashed through his uncle's eyes. But he shut down Alex.
"No, this is all you get. So do you agree?"
Alex tried to bargain again. "How about I get more ammo?"
"No"
Alex sighed and said. "Fine!"

His uncle nodded took his arm back and stood up... "It's nice seeing you again Alexander" Then he simply left after saying these words.
After that, Alex turned his attention to the gun and the boxes of ammo, and a thought came to him as he asked the person who brought it.
"Can I get some extra magazines? So that I don't have to manually put bullets in, oh and can you install some accessories to it?"

Back to the present, Alex was now putting bullets in the magazine of the scorpion evo. He had 3 magazines for the scorpion Evo and also 3 for his Springfield which means he can easily access and bring a total of 101 bullets. There was still extra ammo left from the boxes so he should be fine for now.
The only problem is, he doesn't have a holsters for the magazines, and just so happens he needed to save cause he had no job. In the end, he thought of making one himself.
So for the whole night, Alex spent himself making some magazine holsters, learning about how to use the gun, and mentally and physically preparing himself.
He decided that tomorrow, he was gonna explore the broken world for real.
A thought then came to him....'The son of a kingpin.... Hah! I can't believe I'll be mooching off its benefits this way'

At 10 am, since this was Wednesday, usually people were all busy with their jobs or maybe students are giggling about their love life.
But here he was staring himself in the bathroom mirror, armed with a gun, gloves, a baseball bat at his back and for health safety, a mask.
He was currently giving himself a pep talk.
"Alright you little shit, you can do this, whatever nightmare you encounter just put a bullet up their ass" After a while more, he was done with it, using a thought he found himself in the monitoring room.
"Are you ready Iris?"
Iris saluted as if he giving good luck to him, in truth he couldn't bring this little one outside, he had no idea why and it doesn't know either, it only knows that it shouldn't leave this place at all.
"Alright" He check on his black jacket pocket to make sure the healing crystals was there he said.
"Let's do this. Open the door octopus!" Even though he said that he was the one that did it using his mark, he tried this last night but he did not enter.

The ground shook a bit and a passageway opened at the side of the room just big enough for him to go through.
Taking one last breath, he walks into the darkness.
He turned on the light attached to his gun, as he stared at the front alertly.
Walking for couple more seconds, Alex thought that it was gonna take more long but that's when he saw... lights just ahead.
'That should be the exit" He muttered, not hesitating longer, he walked forward and stepped outside the passageway... the darkness he expected didn't come, instead the place was brightly lit by all kinds of things.
The place looks.... surprisingly normal, weird plants and giant rocks can be seen here and there.
Despite the scenery, the place looks like he was inside a giant cave, just as he thought that it wasn't that bad.
"HOH!!"
"HISS"
"SCREECH!!"
All kinds of nightmarish and scream rang out from all over the place!
Alex immediately turned alert as his finger holding the trigger tensed.
Finding nothing, he calmed down a bit.
Anyways, he wanted to test something before going out, taking a step back.
Alex pulled the trigger and a loud bang came out.
And he prepared, he wanted to test if noises can attract monsters, if so then he will have a hard time.
But time passed and no monsters came out. He did it again and after confirming nothing's come to him. He mentally sighs in relief, 'that's a load off my shoulders' next thing he wanted to do is see if could open up a passageway anywhere as long as it is on the boundary wall, so once again taking a step forward.
Alex stayed by the wall, slowly etched forward while observing his surroundings. The passage he had gone to has closed.
Nightmarish noise continues to ring out from all over the place.
Finally, when he was about 15 meters from what he previously was, he tried to open a passage from the wall, and not long after a door-sized passage opened. According to Iris, the boundary wall or the huge black wall is what keeps this world together and it is indestructible. As for how? Alex was too lazy to ask.
Seeing this he heaved a huge sigh in relief. At least as long as he sticks close to the wall, he could easily escape.
"Hehehe"
!!
A laughing-like noise suddenly came from behind him.
He immediately turned around and pointed his gun right at it.
A dog-like creature made of what seemed like bones came. It's like the skin was forgotten when it was made, Alex could even see its organs from its ribs.
A terrifying laugh came out of its mouth as if mocking everything around it.
Tensed, Alex observed what it was about to do.
It turned its head here and there as if looking for something then... It suddenly pounced on Alex!!
Prepared, Alex pulled the trigger.
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
It took three shots before the dog-like creature was brought down.
After seeing it down, Alex wasn't gonna get close to it, nor make sure it was dead by double tapping, bullets were rare so he move forward while still sticking close to the wall.
When he was some distance from where he originally came from. He grabbed one of the things he brought today for the back of his belt.
It was white spray paint. He painted the wall with a simple vertical line so that he'll know he had been there.
Then he heard some struggle and immediately hid in one of the huge rocks near the wall.
He stared at where the sound came from. He heard a sound of galloping and a dog-like creature appeared, two of them.
Alex thought they were gonna attack him so he was about to pull the trigger that's when...
A huge hand grabbed one of the dog monsters and crushed it.
A new monster appeared.
Alex held his breath seeing this. It was huge. It move planning to catch the other and Alex saw its full exterior.
'Fucking hell' he cursed in his mind.
That thing had legs like a crab its body was even shaped like a crab but there was a protruding human-like head from the center, one of its claws is a huge hand, like the zombie in left for dead.
While its other claw looks like a branch.
It was huge possibly taller than him but it managed to catch the other dog-like monsters with its speed.
Now, there are only about 15 meters of distance between Alex in that monster.
Alex held his gun and tensed, luckily after killing the other dog it turned around.
A thought then came to Alex "maybe I could kill it?" he was close to the wall so he could easily escape if he couldn't kill it, he was always been decisive so he didn't delay any longer.
He pulled the trigger.

Shift (Ben 10+DCU Fanfiction)
Omnitrix+ DCU, what's not to like? The main character will not be Ben Tennyson, rather someone from our world who gains the Omnitrix Hello! This fanfiction Shift is what I wanted to do for an homage to what I thought were underrated pieces of media, Ben 10 and some DCU characters. However, I would be remiss if I didn’t add context to two of the major works that inspired Shift, Dial, and A Practical Guide to Evil. Dial is another ben 10 fanfiction, however that story takes place in the MCU, and with an adult that is already a grown-up at the beginning of the story. Dial, by my own accounts, is more superficially Like shift, even though the Omnitrix is a central device in both. My protagonist starts out around 18 years old, so is less serious and can build relationships with some of the junior justice league members, and then later on in the story meet the Justice League officially. The tone will be more light-hearted at the beginning of the story as teenagers are known to use sarcasm and jokes at each other’s expense. Furthermore, in Dial, the protagonist has a well-developed knowledge of the MCU which he uses to have knowledge on events and characters, that the character in Shift will not have. While the MC will have some knowledge of people's abilities, lesser-known characters and people's real identities will be not included as much, but the MC of Shift will have some knowledge. APGTE's influence is deeper than Dials'. The epigraphs at the beginning of every chapter are an example of that, a place for light-hearted jokes and worldbuilding that's not pure exposition, but I also want to incorporate narrative stories to Shift (heroes win more than lose, providence, etc) on a lighthearted scale. While the heroes of Shift will have to work to win against villains, the MC of Shift will be allowed limited precognition, through narratives tropes and archetypes as a trade-off of less knowledge of the DCU. For example, a villain a hero faces might monologue, but the MC will not instinctively know how to counter every villain they encounter. I also wanted to bring in more realism than usual superhero stories, ie: the MC cannot just walk and have a meeting with Batman or Superman, he would have to “work his way up” in terms of credibility and whatnot. The Aliens that show up in Shift I tried to make different than the ones in Dial, just to share the love for lesser-known characters. And to make it fairer for the villains of the DCU, the main character will not wantonly use if gain at all an Alien X or a ben 10 form of Kryptonians, just so the characters have to work a little bit for victory. I urge anyone reading to consider checking out both APGTE and Dial as they are both amazing works, and I hope you enjoy them. The beginning of how the MC enters the DCU will not be as important as him actually existing in that universe, so that is why a ton of time is not spent on that part of the story. Chapters will be around 2.5 thousand words and come out around every weekday.

Another world? Some weird magic? Sure.
Writing my last novel, I realized that before you start, an ending should be there in your mind. So I wrote this as an atonement to my first novel. This is a typical story about someone who gets stranded in another world with OP powers. But this is not about just the MC, but also some people around him who directly/indirectly had their lives changed. I've written this as a collection of short stories where some may be bigger and more intense than the others. Note: I've finished writing all the chapters, but will upload on my own discretion.
