《Counterattack》Carter's Grand Arrival

"AUGGYYYYYY,"
I stop halfway from eating my sandwich and see a boy with blonde hair running toward our table with his arms wide open. August audibly sighs and puts his head down. Ace, Adora and I watch him with amusement.
We are in a small diner, eating. The four of us, just like before.
"Augy, I missed you," The boy whines, pulling Blue into a hug.
"Carter, I am not your freaking babysitter," A familiar voice echoes, and I find Cameron walking towards us with two duffel bags. She reaches our table and sits down, huffing.
"Get off me, idiot," August glares, pushing Carter away.
"Alex," Cameron greets me once she sees me. I get up and pull her into a hug.
"I missed you," I mumble.
"The great Alex missed me. I am getting emotional," She sniffles, wiping a fake tear, and I roll my eyes.
"Where did you disappear to for so long?" I question, narrowing my eyes at her.
"I was at this idiot's house. His elder sister, my cousin, got married," She answers, looking so done with Carter.
"You are cousins?" I ask, unsure, looking at Carter sticking to Blue like a kitten.
"Unfortunately," She sighs.
"Carter, move away before I kill you," August threatens.
"BUT I missed you," Carter whines, hugging him close. Blue gives up and bangs his head on the table.
Ace takes out his phone and starts recording the scene. Carter puts his arms around Augusts's shoulder and rubs his face against August's left shoulder, just like a kitten.
"So, what did I miss?" Cameron asks, pointing her eyes towards Blue.
"A lot," I smile. Cameron knows I will tell her later, so she sits beside Carter.
"So, Mr Kitten,-" I start, getting Carter's attention, "Care to introduce yourself?"

"How terrible of me? How did I not notice such a beauty sitting near me?"
Carter stands up and approaches me. He is cute with messy blonde hair, dark blue eyes, and a sharp jawline. He also has freckles covering his nose and cheeks.
Ah, a flirt. How wrong was I in judging?
"Hi Alexis," He smirks, suddenly lifting and twirling me around. I let out a shriek of surprise, and we both laugh as he twirls me around.
"Put her down, Carter," Blue says, his voice cold.
Carter stops spinning and looks at me with wide eyes, and I am sure my expression matches his because I have never heard Blue's voice so cold before.
Carter slowly lands me on my feet and sits beside August like a good kitten, but not before flashing me a smile.
"August, you know I have a girlfriend back home, and Alexis is like a sister to me. You know I will never betray you," Carter fake sniffles.
Betray? I look at Cameron, and she shrugs.
"Sister?" I ask.
"Yep, you are like my little sister. August has told me so much about you, and I came to like your character. I know we can hit it off," He smiles.
I look at him, confused. 'I love pranking August,' He mouths, and I smirk.
"Yeah, we will hit it off," I grin, and August looks at me.
"You met him five seconds ago," August states.
"You," August starts.
"Me?" Carter questions, innocently pointing at himself.
"Stay away from her. Your combo is a bad one, a very, very bad one," August shivers.
"Carter, this is Alex, Ace, and Adora, and they are twins,"
"Hi, nice to meet you," Ace says, going for a handshake, but Carter pulls Ace into a hug.

"Thanks for hitting some sense into him,"
"You're welcome?" Ace questions, pulling away.
'He is very... friendly?" Blue says, not knowing how to describe Carter's character.
"Basically, what August is trying to say is that Carter does not know what personal space is, and he is too friendly," Cameron finishes. August gives her a thankful smile, and Adora nods her head sympathetically, letting Blue know that she understands him.
"Hey, I am a one in a million," Carter huffs.
"That you are," Adora giggles.
"Oh, Another beautiful lady," Carter says, standing up.
"Don't even think about it," Ace says sweetly, with a death glare.
Carter abruptly sits down, and we all laugh.
"So, Alexis, how is your training coming along?"
"It is good?" I look at Blue, and he nods his head.
"Do you fight?"
"Nope, I am too much of a sweet person to fight," Carter grins, hugging August. August pries Carter away from him and gets up, taking a seat between Ace and me.
I get up, motioning Carter to take my place. Carter gives me a grin, and Blue gives me a death glare. I wink at him and sit beside Cameron.
"This is what I meant by a bad combo," August states, glaring at me while trying to keep Carter from sitting near him.
"So, how long will you be here?" I question Carter, taking a bite of Ace's burger. Ace glares at me and takes it back. People are glaring at me too much today. I try to soften Ace's wrinkled forehead, and he snaps my hands away, annoyed.
"Two weeks,"
Blue chokes on his burger, and Carter grins while hitting Blue's back.
"You said two days," Cameron gasps.
"Plans change," Carter smirks, and I grin. It is going to be amazing two weeks.
"Heck no," Both Ace and August yell.
"Both Alex and Carter have evil smirks on their face," Ace shivers.
"If anyone asks where I am, I died," Blue says.
"You guys are overreacting," Carter and I say simultaneously. We look at each other and chuckle.
"NO. I want to live for at least forty more years. I want to get married, have kids, and live a happy life," August says, frightened.
"We are not that bad," I defend.
This time all four of them look at us, giving a deadpan look.
"Hey," I gasp, mocking hurt.
"Reasons why I fear my life. Number 1, you both love pranking and especially pranking me," I open my mouth to defend myself, but August puts his hands over my mouth, stopping me.
"Number 2, you are both crazy. You both love to annoy me, and you will go as far as to ship me in a box to the Amazon," Blue states in horror.
"I love you too much to do that," Carter and I say simultaneously, and we fist bump each other, chuckling.
"Oh no, you love pranks more than me," He says, shaking his head.
"Auggy, I am going to have an amazing two weeks with my dear Alexis here," Carter smirks, pulling me into a side hug.
I have never seen someone more scared for their life than Blue is right now.

Single Player
There are many games played on the world of Earth- some virtual, some board-bound, others much more real. For Grey Shor, the Apocalypse brings a game unlike any he’s seen before- one that pits him against all manner of monsters, both human and otherwise. In this new reality, he has but a single goal: win. With the Apocalypse comes Evolutions- abilities that combine and level to transcend humanity. For Grey, this means Single Player, a power that allows him to play this new game by his own rules. After fighting through the hell known as the Apocalypse's Tutorial, Grey returns to Earth, finding it poorly prepared for the hell ahead. Armed with information regarding the future and powers ripped straight from myth, he begins a game that will not only find its way to the annals of history, but change them forever. The only way to save the world is to destroy it. — This is a story inspired by Death Note, the System Apocalypse sub genre, and stories like Solo Leveling and The Gamer. Will it appeal to fans of those stories? I can only hope.

A Mildly Odd Reality Breaker
Omar receives an unexpected visitor who comes baring a gift—a "registration ticket"—in the form of a small metal card. The ticket is itself an offer to participate in the game, "Reality Break." Accepting this offer means that Omar will be able to perceive the true nature of reality where there is not one, but two dimensions of time, and in this second dimension history changes (and somewhat "frequently"). Along with this, he will also gain access to the "chronopause"; another reality that is not so much parallel to our own as it is perpendicular, which acts as both a place and the natural boundary between non-sequential points on the timeline. Using the chronopause, Omar will become a chrononaut with the ability to travel through time, and as a player, he will be given a cybernetic interface and his own portable extradimensional storage space. It's a strange conversation, but due to Omar's dismally short attention span, he only consciously hears that last bit about the portable pocket space, and that's only after the physics-defying void is opened in his living room and literally waved in front of his face. Reality is certainly stranger than most people realize, but then again, so is Omar. Thankfully, he responds well to shiny things, and for better or for worse, his chronic inattentiveness is the least of his psychological issues. Omar also has a mild form of "Oppositional Defiant Disorder" which presents itself as an occasional, arbitrary need to disobey others (especially authority figures). However, his oddest psychological issue by far is his "abnormally hyperactive" subconscious mind. Outwardly and consciously, Omar is a lazy, apathetic man-child prone to mildly asinine behavior. Subconsciously, he's some sort of genius capable of extraordinary feats of cognition. Most of the time, Omar is a (technically) functioning adult, but in order to live as such, he must rely entirely upon unusual abilities he's completely unaware of, despite the fact that he uses them regularly. Up until now, his life had merely been ridiculous, but now it was also a game. Note: The narrative style is that of a reliable narrator with a "3rd-person sarcastic" POV. This story takes place in the Reality Breakers/Chronopause universe.

Again
Most villains, no matter how terrifying, are defeated by a hero on the first try. The hero may be forced to flee or otherwise delay the real confrontation, but it’s still certain that he will win when it occurs. But some villains simply defeat all comers. Against an opponent like that, the only options are to give up or to try again. --- This story is a participant of the WriTEr's pledge. In short, I promise to finish it, and may I be Hall of Shamed if I don't.
