《JJBA X Reader》josuke4: it's been you all along

Content: Fluff/angst
Setting: DIU era
you reject josuke (for now) in this oneshot because we're girlbosses, sorry!!
You were born to a rich family that lived in Morioh for privacy. You had a twin sister, Hana. You grew up with the same rules, yet you both turned out differently.
As you two grew older, it was clear she was never satisfied with what your parents gifted you two.
On your 13th birthday, your parents bought Hana a designer bag, and they got you some shoes you've always wanted and a few books. You were delighted and couldn't be any more grateful for their attention to your interests. But Hana on the other hand...
"Seriously? A Michael Kors bag? I wanted Chanel," she spat.
Your parents look at each other before your mother answers, "Sweetie, that bag was $700, can't you just say thank you?"
Hana drops the bag on the floor, "You guys make millions a year but can't spend a few thousand on me?"
Your dad steps in, "Go to your room, young lady. I'll be returning this in hopes that you'll change your attitude."
You stare as Hana storms off to her room and slams the door.
~~~~~~~
Fast forward to the first year of senior high. You get dropped off by your driver at the front of the school, where everyone is loitering before school starts.
You see everyones eyes of adoration towards you two, but you know damn well the eyes are for Hana.
She smirks and flips her hair while walking as if she's on a runway, "Y/N, we look the same, yet nobody is looking at you. Go visit a salon soon."
"How about you actually participate in a pageant?" you retort, "Wait, never mind. Nobody wants to sign you because you have no talent."
She glares at you before putting on her brightest smile, "Good morning! Which one of you is uhh.."
She pulls out a paper from her pocket, "Josuke Higashikata?"
A first year boy walks out from the crowd, "I'm Josuke."
"Great!" Hana beams, "Come with me."
You walk away from Hana and to your locker. You knew all about her plan with Josuke. She had been plotting to find him for a while. Josuke Higashikata is rumoured to be a millionaire's son. Your sister believed that if your parents won't spoil her every day, then she'll manipulate a boy into doing so. You thought that she was joking, but now you can't help but feel bad for Josuke.
At lunch, you sit with your friends from junior high, and you watch Josuke follow your twin around like a lost puppy. He was her money tree, and it made you angry.
You were in class 1-A, not 1-B like Hana and Josuke. Good. You didn't want to see your monster of a sister toy with his feelings.
Enough talking about Hana, let's talk about you.
You're a grateful child who appreciates gifts and time your parents give you as they're so busy in their work. They weren't around as much, and you always waited for their return at night. You're not materialistic, but you're set on working hard for your fortune, whether it be taking over your family's business or starting from the bottom.
Boys have never really been your interest, but you do love sticking your nose in books late at night. Your parents caught on, and they bring back a book after every business trip.
There, all caught up.
A few months later, exams were coming up. You went to the library to find some fiction and also textbooks to help you.
"Oh, Hana! What are you doing in the library?" footsteps jog towards you.
You turn to find Josuke, just as confused as you are.
"You're... not Hana...?" he tilts his head.
"Y/N. Her twin sister," you introduce yourself.
He remembers you, "Oh, I see. You're smart, right? Can you please tutor me? Exams are coming and I'm not that smart."
"7000 yen an hour," you demand.
"W-What?!" he exclaims, "That's too much!"
"Fine. Just get me food and coffee," you counter offer.
"Okay! Can we start uh, now? I'm free," he asks.
You walk to his house. You were expecting a huge mansion with 10 butlers, but no. It was a dainty blue house with no butlers, just his pretty mother.
"Hi, are you Hana? Josuke's girlfriend? I've been dying to meet you," Tomoko hugs you.
"No, sorry, I'm just her twin sister here to tutor him," you smile.
After a couple hours of non-stop lessons, Josuke suggests that you two play a video game for a break.
You take his offer and humble him on Street Fighter.
"Damn, Y/N! Since when were you good at this?" he says in defeat.
You smile, "I'm not the nerd you think I am."
"I don't think that you're a nerd!" he laughs.
"Oh, you definitely do!" you laugh with him.
The laughing stops to an awkward but comforting silence where you and Josuke just genuinely smile at each other.
You decide to try and save him from you sister's plan.
"Hey, if I were you, I'd steer clear from Hana. She's very... money-oriented."
He brushes it off, "Nonsense, she really likes me and I like her. She's waiting for my dad to come from the USA so she can meet my family at your house for dinner."
You frown at his oblivion. The reason why your sister is waiting is so that his dad can offer her something too good to be true.
"That's good for both of you. We can go to my house tomorrow for tutoring so you can see her as well," you offer, and he takes up on that.
~~~~~~
The next day, you third wheeled Josuke and Hana on your drive home.
"Jojo~ there's this gold necklace that I've really wanted, and my parents are being so annoying and won't buy me it!" Hana whines.
You roll your eyes as Josuke agrees to buy it.
When you arrive at your house, you give Josuke a pop quiz on what you taught him yesterday.
"Really... a 38%?" you question his average.
"Sorry, Y/N, I don't have the best memory," he rubs his neck.
You sit down beside him and smile, "My memory isn't that great either, but it's not all about memorization. I want you to fully understand the concept to the point where you can teach it to me."

He sighs, "I'll try to, but no promises."
You nod and get started on your new lesson.
After an hour, Josuke zones out as if steam is about to blow out of his ears.
"Josuke, are you okay?" you ask.
He perks up, "Yeah, I'm okay. Can we take a break?"
You agree and you bring up some baked desserts to eat while playing video games. Yet again, there was no competition on Street Fighter.
"You seriously need to work on blocking," you say as you K.O. him.
"It's not my fault that you spam buttons instead of using them normally!" he retorts.
You gasp, "I do not do that, Higashikata."
He shrugs, "You do. All you do is kick my legs and hope for the best."
Offended, you grab a pillow off your bed and whack him with it. After a couple smacks, he grabs your pillow and you run away to find a new one. You both broke out in a pillow fight, and as you swung your pillow, your momentum forced you to go down with it. You fall onto Josuke and you both blush pepper red.
You quickly roll off him and clear your throat, "Sorry. My balance isn't the best."
He smiles, "Finally something I won."
You throw your pillow at him and giggle, "You did not win! It was a draw."
You both were in a fit of laughing until your stomachs started to hurt.
As Josuke wiped the tears of laughter from his eyes he looked at you meaningfully, "You're really fun to be around, Y/N. I haven't laughed this much since my grandfather died."
You frown slightly, "I'm so sorry for your loss, Josuke. I'm happy that you're laughing again."
You put your hand on his shoulder and give him a reassuring smile. His eyes stared into yours, shining a deep blue. You swear you felt your heart skip a beat.
"What do you see in Hana?" you ask him.
Josuke lets out a dreamy sigh, "She is the most gorgeous girl I've ever seen— and she chose me on the first day of school. She's so sweet and clingy and she's kind to me."
You stare at him with a straight face. Not only is he completely in love with her, but he called her gorgeous when you two look exactly alike.
"That's nice," you say in monotone, "Your time is up, Higashikata. You can leave my room."
He nods and thanks you before heading out to look for your sister. You shut the door and lean your back against it, lowering yourself onto the floor.
You caught feelings for Josuke so quickly, and look where it got you. He's adorable, respectful, and fun. But yet, he doesn't see you as anything more. Has Hana ever made him laugh? She doesn't even have anything in common with him. Well... except for their lack of intelligence.
You start avoiding Josuke at school. You gave up on trying to save his heart from being broken. You glanced at the couple in the hallways, but when Josuke would look at you, you would pretend they were never there.
You thought it hurt you more than it hurt Josuke. But believe me, you're wrong.
~~~~~~~
Your parents flew home after learning that Joseph Joestar, the best real estate agent of the USA, is coming over for dinner with Josuke and Tomoko. You dreaded this day. The day that Hana finally gets what she wants out of her evil plan.
You watch anxiously as your twin chats away with Mr. Joestar.
"Hana, you are beautiful! I'm so glad that Josuke has great taste in women! How about you be in my next advertisement? You'll make every boy in the country come to me!" he jokes.
Hana giggles, "I would love to! I was thinking about modelling, and this gives me an amazing kickstart!"
You get up from your seat, sick of her two faces, "Hana, I need to speak to you in the kitchen... now."
She raised an eyebrow and excuses herself.
In harsh whispers, you snap at her.
"You can't keep doing this to Josuke!" you say.
"Relax, Y/N. Once I get in that advertisement, me and him are over. You can have him for all I care," she responds and smiles devilishly.
You glare at her, "You're sick. He doesn't deserve that. Did you know that his grandfather died recently? And all you do is use him for money he barely has!"
She flips her hair, "What are you talking about? He's buying me gifts because he's rich! That's the whole point. If mom and dad won't spoil me, I'll find a way."
"Hana, he lives in a regular house with his mom. Do you really think he gets money that often? His mom adored you even though she never met you. Do you know why? Because Josuke loves you, Hana. And you've done nothing but use him."
"Mind your own business, Y/N. I will get what I want," she hisses.
You sigh heavily and both of you turn back to the dining room, only to find Josuke in the kitchen entrance with tears in his eyes.
Hana's devilish smirk turned into frightened eyes, "J-Jojo, I can explain-"
"Don't call me that," Josuke says angrily, "And don't think you're getting that advertisement deal."
Hana starts to cry, "I didn't mean it like that, Jojo! I love-"
"No you don't," you cut in, "He heard it all."
Hana starts to cry and runs off to her room as if she was the victim.
Josuke walks up to you and takes your hands in his, "Y/N, I realize why you've been avoiding me. How could I be so stupid... I'm so sorry."
You soften your gaze, "I tried to warn you, but you decided not to listen to me. It took you that long to realize that I was there for you and she wasn't. I'm sorry, Josuke, but I'm not going to be your second choice just because Hana treated you like trash."
Sadness wipes his face as he stares into your eyes, "Please, Y/N. You know I'm not smart. You make me so, so happy."
You put your hand on his cheek gently, "I like you a lot, Josuke, but you have to wait."
He sniffles and nods, "I'll wait for you, Y/N. It's been you all along."
Nowhere Stars
For as long as anyone can remember, humans have been preyed upon by Harbingers, living nightmares which devour dreams and passions and souls, and defended by Keepers. These children alone hold the gift of magic, the wild and wondrous ability to impose emotions over reality and empower their frail bodies with the splendor of their souls. Under their protection, humanity was able to survive and thrive. While modern Keepers have come to enjoy a social position somewhere between celebrities and religious idols, very few accept the mantle simply to be a hero. It’s for this purpose that Liadain Shiel, a young girl born terminally ill, throws herself into life as a Keeper when her opportunity comes, hoping against hope to rewrite her fate and save her life while she still can. Natural Alchemist
Will is poor. This is a fact he does not like about himself. Even back at his home village he was considered poor, but poor in the big city means something completely different than poor in a small village... It means ten hour days of hard manual labor with barely enough money to survive, and poor living conditions. He's sick of it, and desperate for change. Perhaps that was what made him decide to spend such a large portion of his savings on a mysterious potion from that beggar... That, and it seemed so special when he held it. But ever since that day, he's been having the strangest dreams... And the work is really starting to take a toll on his body... Author's Note: I wasn't sure which mature content warnings I should put on this novel, as I'm pretty much pantsing the story. I'm putting them there mostly as a percaution, but also to not limit myself as to where the story can go. This is my first time writing and publishing anything substantial. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
