I open my eyes to the backseat of a van, a soldier sits next to me, I scoot my back against the door and he smiles, “Relax, kid.” “Where are my friends?!” “Look behind us.” I peek out and they’re in a cage, I can barely hear them through the blizzard. “Let them- Us, go.” His eyes glow a light blue, only for a moment, “Kid, we’re taking you where you’ve been going.” “How do you know where I was going?” He laughs, “Why so cautious?” “You drugged me.” He sighs, “Anyway, everyone’s been running where the tracks were, most people wandered off the clearing due to the misleading snow.” I pull the handle on my door and jerk at it, it just won’t open. “Letting you out here will be a death sentence.” “Where are you taking us?!”
His smile just won’t break, “Fine, there’s a city still standing, eh- More of a camp of ours.”
We roll up and it’s a castle. Big Cement walls, covering a monstrous complex, something out a medieval story. Oh no. “You’re the only one we’ve found for miles in a while. Those monsters are everywhere.” The metal gate lifts up and I jump. Animals in cages, being moved into a large barn. Some I haven’t even seen yet. A bunch of people in ragged clothing huddling by fire barrels in desperation. Not these crazies.
The man taps my shoulder and I jump, he smiles, "What's wrong, kid? You're safe now." I look at the door and the doors unlock, "Don't make waves, kid." I open the door and they drive further in. Calico roars at me, desperately trying to bend the cage. I grab my hair and run after them. They stop and I run up to the car. The man gets out and rolls his eyes, "Got no time for this, kid!" I run in and cock back my fist, he holds his hand up and snow smacks against my face like a blizzard. I raise my arms and metal slams against my forehead. I fall down and the blizzard dies, his hand 's frostbitten with a gun in hand, "Take him to a cell." He raises his hand and a blizzard explodes from it. Steam spews out my skin for a few moments. I try to get up, but it's just too late. Too cold.
