[ A little translation of their conversation if you still aren't able to read it, due to the colour. ]
[ this was written when they went to the art museum. Ok without further ado, pls enjoy the chapter]
---
"I'm late." She mumbles to herself as she ran up the flight of stairs. This has probably got to be the most running that Lily had ever done in her whole eighteen years of living. Plus she hasn't had any breakfast or had consumed anything from yesterday so of course she felt very weak.
"I'm here!*" She exclaims as she abstractly opens the door to her classroom. Seeing everyone as well as the teacher all stare at her. Hell even Renjun had arrived first before her, which was a first.
"Oh Ms.Xu you're just in time for registration. What a coincidence that I was just about to call your name out." Said the teacher as the girl gave him an apologetic smile.
"I'm sorry sir for coming in late today. It won't happen again." She says as the teacher nods his head before excusing her to her seat.
"Lily what happened today?" Her best friend asks her when Lily had sat down in her seat.
"Nothing I just woke up late. Hey by the way, do you have a bottle of water that you could lend me?"
--- 💭
Exasperated. That's how she felt right now. She was in the art room all alone as she rests there. Her bag on the table that was used as a pillow for her to sleep on.
*dug!
Something being placed on her table as it interrupted her rest. Lily could see a plastic bag placed on her table, she then looks over at the person. Squinting her eyes at them as her vision was blurry.
"Why are you squinting at me like that?" Renjun spoke up.
Oh so it's Renjun.
"Because I can't see and I didn't have time in the morning to wear my contact lenses. So my vision is a bit blurred." She replies hastily before getting up from her previous laying down position. Straightening her back as she stretches her arms.
"Why not wear glasses? You have them right?" He asked.
"Yes but... I kinda forgot where I last placed them hehe.." She chuckles softly as he only shook his head.
"This is why you're an idiot frog." He flicks her forehead as the girl winces in pain. "Ouch*."
"Here, wear mines instead so you could see the world and me in 4k." Renjun taking his glasses out of his bag and then gently placing it on Lily's face. Then and there was when she can see her surroundings properly.
The first thing she was being met with was Renjun's face that was only inches apart from her. Their close proximity making her cheeks heat up.
"Thanks I could see you much properly now." She said whilst looking away and pushing his shoulders back so that there was a lot of space between them now.
"Oh that's good then." He said and sat down besides her.
"I got you some food. You came here to rest and didn't go out to break with your friends. You probably also haven't eaten anything from last night, so here. If you don't want to eat it then I'm forcing you too." He said and slid the plastic bag over to her. Lily checking what's inside as a smile was brought upon her face.
"No I'll make sure to eat it. I don't want to end up shrivelled up by the hallways because you beat me up for not eating it." She says as he lightly pushes her shoulders.

"Tsk I'm not that evil."
...
"I think we're done for today." Said Lily as she clasped her hands together in satisfaction. Satisfied by the work that they did.
"Arghh why did we have to work on the floor whilst everyone was working on their easels. This just made my back problems a hundred times worser." Renjun complains as he stood up.
"Ya you're just an old grandpa. Besides, working on the floor made it easier for us to move around and cover different aspects of the paintings." Lily replied before she took the canvas off the floor and putting it up on their easel to dry.
"Anyways, we should probably start heading home. School already ended like fifteen minutes ago and we're the last ones to leave." Renjun stated. Packing his belongings as Lily went over to the door to open it.
Twisting the doorknob as it refused to open. She raised a brow up in confusion as she continues to try and open it.
"Shit."
"Hey Shortie, I think we're locked inside the art room. I can't seem to open the door." Lily calls out. This immediately catching his attention as he went over to her.
"Haha funny joke Lily, just open the door and we'll be heading our separate ways." He said as she looks at him seriously. Her face stone cold.
"Do I look like I'm joking here Huang Renjun?!" She exclaims. Renjun just rolling his eyes at her as he pushes her to the side.
The lad twisting the doorknob to the side but it refused to open.
"Fuck you were right." He starts to panic as Lily looked at him with an annoyed look.
"Fine you're right. There, I'm sorry." He said, trying to lighten up her mood but it was no use.
"Could you try calling someone for help? My phone battery died, I'm going to charge it first." Renjun tells her as he went to the nearest socket to charge his phone.
"I guess so. I'll try calling my dad." Lily sitting down in her seat as she dialed her father's number. Waiting for him to pick it up.
The sound of the other line picking up brought both of their attention.
"" Her father asked worried.
"I stayed back at school for a bit to complete this project with my friend." She replied.
"." He said.
"But dad theres a slight problem, I'm stu-" but before she could finish her sentence, her phone turned off.
She looked at her device in disbelief.
"HOLY SHIT THIS PHONE IS SO USELESS." she exclaimed and threw her phone against the table harshly. Pulling on her hair while breathing in, trying to calm herself down.
Renjun flinched when he heard her shout.
"Not going to lie but that was terrifying, and what made it more scary is that your face didnt even move an inch." He said and sat down next to her.
"Sorry, I didnt mean to scare you." She apologises.
"Uh what about your phone. It's kinda cracked." He asked as he pointed at her phone that was now covered in cracks due to the strong impact.
"I could just get it repaired later or just get a new one. It doesn't really matter." She sighs as she had her head hung low.
"Tired?" Renjun questions as she nodded her head.
"So tired I feel like dying." Lily replied. The lad not liking her answer.
"Don't say that... here you could rest your head on my shoulder." He gently lays her head on his shoulders. Baffled by his action as she looks up at him, again her cheeks started heating up; turning rosey pink.

He looks down at her. A small grin appearing on his face when seeing how flustered she was by that small action.
"My glasses are falling down your face dear." He said and pushed the glasses up to her face that was falling down from the bridge of her nose.
"Shut up." The girl mumbled and looked away. Avoiding eye contact with him.
*ringg!
Renjun's phone ringing as he got up and went over to where his phone was being charged. Seeing the caller ID and picking up the call.
"Kun-ge!" The lad called out. So grateful that he called.
"" His older friend questions him in worry.
"Sorry gege. I stayed back after school to finish my art project with Lily."
"."
"That's not the point!!! We're stuck in the classroom. The workers must have locked us inside the room and thought that no one was in here when we were working on the floor. We can't just escape through the window, the art room is on the second floor and I'm not risking my life ok." Renjun explains.
"."
"No do not bring Yangyang along with you!"
"."
"Exactly, he's the problem! Bring Xiaojun along with you pleasee."
A sigh could be heard from the other side of the line.
" " kun hanging up the call before Renjun could complain any further.
"He won't stop teasing me after this tsk." Renjun mumbles to himself before taking his phone and charger and heading back to where Lily was at.
"Who was that?" She asks him once he had finished the call.
"Kun-ge. He's sending hendery and Yangyang over to come help us." He replied and sat back in his seat.
"Hey Renjun, do you think I'm.. weird?" Lily asked him all of a sudden.
"You weird? I mean yeah you're super weird." He replied without hesitation.
"Wow thanks." She said sarcastically and pushed him away from her.
"Hey!! I was just joking, geez calm down."
She looked at the empty classroom.
"I guess I am weird. Haven't been acting like myself for a year." She said as he just stared at her.
"Hey dont say that. I was just kidding." He said.
"Hmm, it's ok I dont mind you thinking that I'm weird. I've just been thinking about my mental health lately." She said.
"Hey, dont think so low about yourself. If there's anyone that's more weirder then you, then I'd probably be my friends." He said and held her hand looking into her eyes that started to show its colour. Her eyes were slowly starting to show little glimpse of sparkles.
"Now come back here so you could rest your head on my shoulders you loser." He said with a pout. She just nodded and let him do so.
*knock knock!
"Ayo Renjun and Lily, you in here?" Someone calls out from outside. A foreign voice that Lily had never heard before.
"Yes, thank god that you're here." Renjun replies. Both him and Lily standing up as they got their things and went over to the front of the classroom.
"Finally, you dont know how many times I've had to knock on a door but no one even answered. I feel so hurt man." The voice said.
"Stop exaggerating yangyang." Renjun said and rolled his eyes.
The door was then unlocked revealing two guys; Yangyang and a guy with dark black hair, whom Lily had probably guessed to be Hendery.
"Omg finally I'm free from this prison." Renjun cheered and hugged his friends.
"Oh my god. Never thought the day would come that you would hug me again." The brunette haired guy said.
"Shut up yangyang before I decide to kick you." Renjun said and punched his shoulders playfully.
"Well then, we should all probably head back home now before they realised that two random civilians that do not attend this school is here. Oh and Lily, if you don't mind. Me and Yangyang would be driving you back home." Said Hendery.
--- ☁️
"Here's my stop. Thank you again for everything." Lily spoke before she got out of the car.
"No worries, take care Lily." Said Hendery before she smiles at him and closes the car door.
Renjun watching from the window as she walks over to the front door where she was greeted by a man. Probably her father. She never really mentions anything about her mother, besides the time when he had returned her the necklace that she dropped. Hmm probably something personal, who is he to question that.
"Ooh looks like someone is; falling in love~" Both Hendery and Yangyang teases. Renjun quickly shooting them a glare.
"Both of you shut the fuck up." He groans and slumped back into his seat as he lets out a sigh.
"When are you planning to yknaw confess your feelings and make it official between the two of you?" Yangyang asked excitedly.
"Hahahah how about?? Never." Renjun ruining the atmosphere as he crosses his arms above his chest.
"Come on Injun, don't be like that. You don't want the same thing happening again do you? When you kept holding back to confess and eventually lost her." Hendery tolds him as this made Renjun go quiet.
"Who are you talking about? The girl?" Yangyang asks. That name that escaped his mouth angering Renjun as he got up and pulled onto the boys collar.
"Woah Renjun calm down." Hendery having to separate them. Yangyang just looking at Renjun confused.
"No I'm not talking about her. The one before her, the girl with short hair that he used to really like." Hendery cleared out as Yangyang let out an 'ooh'.
"Why didn't you say so from the beginning??" Yangyang said as he looks over at his best friend.
"Because you never asked bitch." He replied, earning an eye roll from Yangyang.
"What was that short haired girl called?" He asked. Renjun trying to remember her name until his eyes widens in realisation.
"Her name was also Lily... but I never knew what her surname was cause we weren't in the same class." He said. Now the lad was getting a bit paranoid by the fact that his previous crush was also called Lily.
Hendery and Yangyang stared at each other before looking at Renjun.
"Yeah there's no doubt that the Lily you like now is the same girl from two years ago." Yangyang speculated.
"So Renjun, this time you're able to confess to her right? So you don't get to lose her again for the second time, before it's too late." Hendery tells him as Renjun yet again only stood quiet. Too lost to be able to say anything.

The Many Deaths of Kara Lowe
112 years ago, the Bubble Burst. 103 years ago, the Great War ended. 76 years ago, the War of Two Worlds ended. It is now 2021 and Homo Sapiens, Homo Subcinctus, Homo Variari, and Sapient Beasts have been living together in a hard-won harmony for 75 years. Or so they say. Atypical high-school student Kara Lowe has some serious doubts about that. After she is killed and brought back to life by her accidental murderers, she is forced to abandon everything she thought she knew about the world, and herself. While plagued by a mysterious Order that believes she should not exist, Kara must prove her right to life by destroying an age-old enemy with an unfortunate connection to her. There won't be a ton of gore or traumatising content, that's not the focus, but the tags are there to be safe. The main character uses colourful language when she's angry. The main character might seem to be talking to you at times. She is not. Things will make sense eventually. A quick note about religion: this novel takes place in an Alternate History setting. No existing religion from our world exists in this one. Any similarities are coincidential.

Blood & Noodles
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] As they always have, humanity hunts the gods roaming the world, craving the supernatural power that flows within their veins. Even a drop is zealously guarded, passed from master to student through the ages. It is with this stolen power that the Blooded - those with divine blood coursing through them - grasp beyond mortality and achieve prestige, power, and greatness. Yet, for every fraction of power gained, thousands perish, slain by the gods' supernatural prowess. But everything is beginning to change. Eight years ago, for the first time in human memory, a god was felled. Part-time chef and full-time nuisance Orvi wants nothing to do with gods. Living in a derelict city, his only concerns are ensuring his adopted family's restaurant is prosperous and how to best beat the neighbourhood boys in a fight. If he's lucky, he might even snag a date with the farmer's daughter at the market. But even though he cares nothing for the gods or their blood, the world won't leave him alone forever. Because to reach godhood, one must first leave their humanity behind. *** The first arc of Blood & Noodles follows the adolescent Orvi as he attempts to navigate his rapidly changing home and - by his own definition - protect his family. The story is told almost entirely in the first-person, from the perspective of a teenager who isn't always the sharpest tool in the shed. There are tragic elements, especially in the current arc. It's character-focused and driven, though the protagonist's shenanigans are backdropped by a world operating independently from him. Orvi's a generally light-hearted character, and though the story veers into darker territory, I also want it to be able to make readers smile. Action sequences, despite the fantastical elements, are meant to be grounded and clearly-conveyed; Orvi is a brawler, not a warrior. I'm trying to write a story that's enjoyable to read and flows nicely, mainly because it's more fun to write. I'm also trying to improve my writing, so any feedback, whether positive or negative, is welcome!
