《Familiar: The Laen Chronicles》Drew's Third Eye (2)

Swinging his glaive, Drew unleashes a very thin arc of telekinesis which splits into countless tinier parts as they fly forward, the next moment a much larger translucent version of his glaive appears in front of him and as he swings his glaive again it mimics his movement, slashing down at the Majin. Unbothered the Majin brings its hand together, unleashing a shockwave filled with some strange energy that neutralizes all of Drew's attacks. The moment the shockwave hits the giant glave, it wavers and disperses, only managing to reform after it has harmlessly passed by the Majin.
The Majin launches its own attack, a strange orb of energy that distorts the very air around it. Drew moves his glaive and the giant projected version follows suit, putting itself between himself and the orb. The orb slams into it and explodes, shattering the giant glaive. This time it does not reform.
Drew leaps again, reappearing somewhere to the side of the Majin as he swings his glaive low, the tip of the glaive lightly scraping the ground. From wherever the tip touches, the ground ripples outward, most of it heading toward the Majin, who stamps his foot, causing all the ripples to die out before reaching him.
Just like that, they have clashed several times. It doesn't take long for us to notice a worrying trend, Drew seems to be using way more Uua than he should be. Until they open the third eye, all Laen usually have the same problem: limited Uua. The moment their Uua finishes, they'll need to rest for several hours to recover. At the rate Drew is currently using his Uua, it isn't going to last very long. Even more worrying is the fact that the Majin seems to be holding back and waiting for something.
The fight continues, with Drew getting more and more disadvantage even as he keeps increasing his Uua usage. Then it happens. Drew tries to attack… and nothing happened. The Majin strikes.
We move to help him, but once again we are stopped by David. We turn to look at him and notice how tense he is. In his other hand, he is fiddling with something familiar, a glass box full of insects. We had first seen it when we were training in the Lands. Why would he bring out something like that now?

At this point, Drew is in a desperate position. He manages to block the first two of Majin's attacks with his glaive, but the third one lands, lifting him several feet into the air. We wince. Without Uua, taking a hit like that must have felt like being hit by a truck. The Majin jumps to meet him in the air, making a fist as it does so. It raises its hand and gathers Uua around the fist.
Our heart skips a beat. If that punch lands on Drew, then there is nothing in this world that is going to stop him from dying. We begin to move, we can't allow Drew to die just like that. Forget about him getting his third eye, he can always try later.
Once again David stops us, grabbing our arm. We tug to free it but he doesn't budge. The Eani around us begins to flow faster as he begins to absorb it greedily. Does he want Drew to die? We wonder as we try to activate a noer.
"Ian, stop. If you in particular try to help him, and something goes wrong, your death will be guaranteed. Let him handle this." A sudden outpour of Uua and light suddenly gushes from where Drew is, followed by a loud bang as the Majin's attack lands, slamming him into the ground. We shut our eyes not wanting to look at what we we are sure will be Drew's death.
That is until We hear the laughter, which seems to be one of joy bordering on madness. David's grip on me relaxes, and we open our eyes, looking at the small crater Drew had formed on impact with the ground. There, battered, bruised, and bloodied, Drew gets to his feet, his eyes glowing. He had succeeded. His third eye was now open.
"Enough!" the Majin screams, but a quick glance at him shows that he is more focused on himself than on us. "I've had enough of your constant interruptions! Do you think, because I need your body that I can't hurt you? After all this time, after all I've shown you, you still dare defy me? Well, what happens next is on you."

We quickly figure out what is going on. The person being possessed must have interfered once again when the Majin tried to kill Drew, allowing Drew to escape alive and also giving him what he needed to finally open the third eye. And now, the Majin is pissed. Just as We are wondering how the Majin would fulfill his threat, We find out the answer.
Loud cracking sounds begin coming from the possessed man as his bones begin to fracture in multiple places all over his body. His tortured screams come a second later. Horrified, We watch as the Majin completely mutilates the body, a pleased grin on his face as he does. When he is done, the body does looks more alien than it does human. It has bones jutting out from uncomfortable places, its arms seem to have five more joints than a normal human body should, and it is bleeding from head to toe.
How, We think as We watch with morbid curiosity, how can he do this so casually to someone?
Someone, even after all he has done to it, the body is still alive. Laughing, the Majin begins to move the mutilated body, its movements are reminiscent of an octopus waving its tentacles, and I can't help but wonder how it still manages to stand upright with all the broken bones. But what unsettles us the most is that, even as it is laughing, We can still hear the screams of the man it had just broken.
It turns to face us, and I can't help but shudder as its aura washes over me. I feel the deer's calming presence and relax a little.
"You know," the Majin begins to say, "I originally came here to kill one person. But now, you have all successfully angered me. Today, I will kill as many people as I possibly can. I will devour you all, and then, I will make your souls experience pain as you've never known."
That said, it opens its mouth wide. Expecting the same paralyzing shout that it had used multiple times before, We begin to prepare ourselves. But it doesn't shout, instead, it inhales. A horrid pain fills us as our blood begins to force its way through our skin and out of our body. Before We can think to combat that, I am suddenly separated from the deer. A feeling of intense vertigo fills me as an unstoppable suction force begins to pull me from my body.
Panicked, I try to resist, but nothing works. I get closer and closer to leaving my body, and then I hit a barrier. Before I could feel relieved, the force increases, and slowly but surely I begin to pass through the barrier. My head is pulled out first, and once outside I see strange mist-like substances coming out of Drew and the rest's bodies, along with blood which is being consumed by the Majin, slowly but surely strengthening him.
More and more of me begins to leave my body and fear takes a hold of my heart. Some part of me knows that the moment I leave my body entirely, I will die. Something within me acts and the next moment I find myself back in my body, the suction force gone. I shiver, not only out of fear, but because my body now feels colder than usual.
"Please," the deer communicates with me, "allow me to take control."
I willingly do as it asks. Once again we merge, but this time its experiences and memories are what is at the forefront. My body moves, stirring the Eani around us and causing the parts next to Drew and his team to coalesce into noers. The moment the noers touch them, they become free of the Majin's influence.
As though by some unspoken agreement, the next second, we all jointly launch an offensive against the Majin, the flow of Eani around us becoming turbulent as we all jointly exercise our influence on it.

The Hunt
Cecily's blade swung, hitting its mark as always. The man's arm fell to the cold grass of the prison with a familiar thud. He let out a blood curdling scream. A warning to the rest. Stay away, the Hunter is here. That's the name they'd given her, the Hunter. After she cut off the man who tried to rape hers masculinity, they stayed away. She'd made it clear anyone who tried to touch her would be hunted and slaughtered. Cecily kneeled down, pushing the man's face into the dirt so she could use his back as a seat while she trifled through his belongings. "You're hurting my ears," she told him, no remorse in her voice. "Quiet down before I really do kill you."The man but his lip, well aware that she wasn't lying. Sobs shook him, making for an uncomfortable seat. She, however, didn't particularly feel the beed to kill him. It happened, not often, but it did. "Oh, hush up," she hissed, taking out a bag of rations with her metal hand, "it doesn't hurt that bad."With her good, human hand, she dropped the plastic bag of food into her own bag. She pushed up, off the man back. As she was about to walk away, bag slung over her shoulder, brushing against her autumn colored braid, she turned back to him. "Consider yourself lucky," she said, no hatred in her voice, there never was. "Consider yourself lucky that you didn't do anything stupid. And even luckier if one of the scum bagged criminals in here feel a little light in their hearts and help you. Consider yourself luckier if you die there."With that, her old black and white Nike sneakers carried her off into the brush of the huge prison.
