《Law of God (Book 1)》Chapter Nineteen

Shame on you, shame on you, shame on you!!
The voices in my head continued loudly, as I was sitting in the middle of another trial. I felt like I needed to hide. As the witness, Mrs. Azalea was answering Mr. Lewis's question, I kept on thinking back about Hannah.
I sighed, listening to Mrs. Azalea speak, about how my client Jonas Manson was working the night of his fathers myrder. Mrs. Azalea was exposing to Mrs. Lewis about how Jonas was a good kid, and he wouldn't hurt anyone.
As soon as Mr. Lewis didn't have any more questions, it was my turn to question Mrs. Azalea. I stood up from my seat, buttoning my suit jacket, and I started to question Mrs. Azalea.
"What happened Sunday February the 25th, during Jonas's college graduation celebration?"
Mrs. Azalea sighed, "Jonas said he had to meet up with a friend, he said it was important."
"Did he say why?"
"No, Jonas just walked off after convincing his mother that he had an important meeting with his friend."
I understood, shaking my head. "And can you please tell the court what Jonas told you about his relationship with his father?"
"He said, um, he said that they were having trouble with each other, that his father hated him."
"But did Jonas say he hated his father, too?" I asked, wondering.
"No, he just wanted for his father to get along with him, and things were kind of a rough patch for him and his father while Jonas's mother was undergoing treatment after her diagnosis with cancer."
"No more questions, your honor," I said, before walking back to my seat. After I had sat down, I sighed. It was Mr. Lewis's turn for questioning Mrs. Azalea once again.

It then caught my attention when Mr. Lewis asked Mrs. Azalea if Jonas ever felt like he wanted to hurt his father for the way he treated him.
"Jonas did mention that he wanted to hurt his father several times, he even sent me text messages of what he said about killing his father."
"How many times has he told you about wanting to kill Mr. Manson?" Mr. Lewis asked.
"Um, about a couple of times."
I just looked at Jonas like he looked pretty upset. I was doing my best to defend my client. Mr. Lewis then didn't have any more questions left, so I did what I had to do. I was gonna fight for Jonas, because I do believe in him.
A long trial of a murder mystery came down to the fact Jonas was found not guilty for the murder of Mr. Freddie Manson. He was a fifty year old doctor, an oncologist. After I had shook Mrs. Manson's hand, with a smile and she congratulated me on winning the case.
I thanked Mrs. Manson, and I looked at Jonas, he and I shook hands until he whispered in my ear and I just looked at him with a suspicious look on my face.
Jonas gave me this evil smile and him and his mother just walked out of the courtroom together.
I scoffed, and was just in total shock. My whole body was in shock, and didn't know what to say. I just sat down in my seat, and I looked at Mr. Lewis and he didn't look too happy about winning the case. I just took a deep breath, closing my eyes, and I slowly sighed, opening my eyes once again. I pretended that I was fine, and I left the courtroom as other people were leaving as well.

I was watching a movie with Jacob and he had fallen asleep on my lap. I was lying backward on my couch as I kept thinking back of what Jonas said.
"I'm glad I killed my father, he deserves it." Those were the exact words coming out of Jonas's mouth.
I then received a message from Mandy, and she asked how my trial went today, and if I did win the case. I sighed, picking up my cell phone from my coffee table as I was trying not to wake Jacob up. I texted back and explained to Mandy that I did win the case, and I didn't tell her what Jonas told me. I threw the cell phone back on the table, and I was just upset.
First, Hannah is sentenced to die, and now I had a client walking his way into his mothers home and is proud of what he did to his father.
I sighed, swallowing my saliva down my throat and I still couldn't stop thinking about Jonas. I also had Hannah on my mind as well. To be honest with myself, I hope she's doing okay.

The Forerunner's Odyssey
The greatest tragedies are not the ones with the most unfortunate and unhappy endings, but rather the ones without an ending at all. So when Suran Ibrahim scaled the fresh crater, it was not out of exuberance for surviving his ordeal, nor was it out of desire to live in the brave, new world he found himself in. He simply longed for an ending to his odyssey. Mature 18+ Mostly for violence, some language, but anything else may show up eventually. I place the tag just so that I'm not restricted. I'm rewriting this to fix a host of issues. I'll try to update my progress in the blurb - I most likely wont post the revisions until I'm done for all chapters. Till then, c'ya later fam. Maybe.
