《The Bartender at the End of the Universe》Ch 262: Go Go Cactus Wolf

"Hmm, interesting." Sentenza mused.
It sounded like someone had let a swarm of hyperactive children loose in a tightly packed glass shop. Complete with the squeals of upset children.
"You pulled me out of there too quickly!" Narissa scolded Sentenza.
"If I didn't, you'd already be dead." He replied calmly.
"Yeah, except we weren't alone in there," Narissa reminded him.
"What do you..." Realization dawned on Sentenza and he started to grumble under his breath.
"Nnnnoooo. Yyyyooouuu ddddoooonnn'ttt mmmeeeaaannnn Nnnnuuugggeeettt aaannnnddd Ttttteeeddddd?" Bakade asked.
"You guys were the ones who dropped them off." Narissa scoffed. "I'm surprised you forgot so quickly."
Sentenza looked down in frustration. "Guess this plan makes a rescue mission more difficult."
"You think?" Narissa remarked.
"Personally, I like the view from up here." Pockets smirked.
Bakade, Pockets, Sentenza, Narissa, and Og'drimun had gone with the cowboy's plan to avoid the growing fog. All five of them had climbed up the walls and were currently far above the ground where the heavier than air mist was spreading.
Og'drimun was floating up next to them, with a little cream still in his fur. Bakade had her sharp claws dug into the rocks with one hand, while her other hand hung loosely as she leaned out. Narissa was sitting on an outcrop of stone hands that formed a seat for her. Sentenza had found his way into a small crevice in the wall with just enough room for his arms to hold his guns just above him. And Pockets, well, she had a plunger in either hand, and two of them on knee pads that seemed to grab onto the wall better than glue.
"I mean the idea wasn't terrible," Narissa remarked. "If you hadn't forgotten about our two friends. And of course, we're no better than sitting ducks for that robot up here."

Sentenza frowned. "I'm guessing no one has rope?"
"Ooh! Ooh! I've got some!" Pockets cheered.
Sentenza scooted out slowly until his head was sticking out. "Darn, figured no one would, but still, that's a shame."
Pockets raised her hand and waved it around frantically, which made her entire body shake. "I have some! I've got rope!"
"Really too bad," Sentenza sighed as he continued to ignore the clown.
Pockets frowned a brief moment before a sick grin spread on her face. She reached behind her back and down into the back pocket on her pants. She rummaged around inside until she found what she needed, and her wicked grin spread into a broad smile.
She twisted her body around and as she said, "Careful not to choke on those words," she threw a rope tied into a noose towards Sentenza's throat.
Ted did what anyone in his situation would do. He held his hands out in front of them in a bid to calm down the beast. I mean, it worked in those Jurassic Park movies, right?
This wolf with icy blue hair all over his body did not seem amused at all.
CRASH!
The wolf leaped and Ted immediately abandoned plan calm down the wolf and went with plan run the hell away.
The biggest problem with his new plan is that he was in a small room, and the fog made it hard to actually tell where any of the walls were. Somehow, he managed to escape the first lunge, but Ted ended up slamming headfirst into a slightly squishy wall.
Something about the texture sent a shiver down his spine as he rubbed his now red nose that took the brunt of the hit.
"Grrrrrr." The wolf snarled as it turned a hungry eye at Ted.

Even without turning around, Ted could feel the gaze settle upon him. It was unnerving how bloodthirsty the stare was.
"Hey now, can't we talk about...THIS!" Ted tried to reason with it but had to jump away again before he could even finish his sentence.
He couldn't really get away, but it seemed that the wolf was running into similar problems with the small space. He couldn't get away, but the wolf couldn't really catch him either. At least not yet.
Ted didn't really want to push his luck with that any more than he had to. But the fog was so thick and there was a strange chill to it. It made the room seem endless right up until he slammed into a wall.
Soon enough he'd try to get out of the way and just bump into a wall without going anywhere.
There was a small stinging pain on his back, and Ted quickly turned around to make sure the wolf hadn't caught him. And sure enough, the wolf was hidden in the mist. All he could see was that one glowing eye, and it was far enough away. Or so he thought.
"Bakaw?"
"Nugget?"
The chicken climbed up from Ted's back and onto his shoulder. She still looked ragged and beaten up, but she didn't seem quite as tired as she did earlier.
"So uh...we're in a little bit of trouble here." Ted explained as he gestured towards the snarling wolf.
Nugget shook the sleep from her eyes and blinked as she tried to acclimate to the foggy air. Her eyes focused in on the wolf and she let out an annoyed squawk. "Bawk?"
"Oof!" Ted let out a grunt as Nugget leaped off of his shoulder.
The force sent him stumbling back as he landed on his butt.
While still in the air, Nugget's eyes shone bright as a blue flame started to surround her. The wolf's jaw opened as he continued to snarl before he leaped forward to meet the chicken in the air.
