《Once Upon a Time in a Foreign Land》Chapter 099 : Duanmu Shanquan

Shanquan closed the front door. He didn't forget to lock the door. When he turned around, he saw Yingyue coming out of the kitchen. The girl walked quickly. He went straight into Shanquan's bedroom.
It's been over three minutes. I think she is daydreaming a bit on the back porch.
Yiren and Shanquan sat back on the living room couch. Yiren's face radiated a very dense curious aura.
"What did Dage talk to Miss Lüqiu earlier?" Yiren's voice was so soft. It was as if he didn't want Yingyue to hear what he was saying.
She's still in the bedroom. Definitely couldn't hear what you just said!
"Ah! While we were at the diner, Caihong offered to let us live in his apartment until we found a new place to live."
"Dage agreed right away?"
"Of course not. But after Xinxiu was kidnapped, I don't think we have any other choice. At least for the time being."
"Where's the apartment?"
"I don't know yet. But it doesn't look too close from here."
"Shall we move there soon?"
"Not really. We'll stay here until the time our landlord gives us. At least until Xinxiu gets home safely. Maybe I should talk to our landlord about this, too."
"Then Miss Lüqiu?"
"She will be moving into Caihong's apartment today. Her safety is our priority."
"I don't think she should be alone in there."
"Caihong's apartment must be safe. He must be living in an elite place with extra security."
"That's not what I meant ...," said Yiren.
Shanquan stared at Yiren for a while before opening his mouth again. "I have to stay here until Xinxiu returns. This is my responsibility."
"Xiongge, Yige, and I are here. Even tonight, Qiuzhen will come back to this house. You don't have to worry."
Shanquan thought for a moment. "I'll stay here. At least until the police come. Then we can talk about this again."
"Okay if you think it's the best thing," said Yiren.
The two of them then sat on the sofa in the living room, watching television. Shanquan turned up the volume of the television as it broadcasted further news about the fire that broke out in Yueming.
Hearing the voice coming from the television, Yingyue ran out of the bedroom and sat down next to Shanquan. According to the latest news, the fire had been completely extinguished. Police and firefighters were still investigating the cause of the fire. Residents were allowed to re-enter the housing complex.
"It's good to hear that," said Yiren.

"What time are we going there tomorrow?" Yingyue asked Shanquan.
"How about a little late," said Shanquan. "According to the original schedule, what time are you expected to get there?"
"Around noon," Yingyue said.
"Let's see how the Xinxiu kidnapping case develops," said Shanquan. "Now you just continue to prepare the things you will bring."
"I'm done. I don't have much stuff."
Shanquan nodded. "That's settled. I'm glad to hear that."
"Is there anything else you still want to ask, Uncle?"
"Have you prepared food for Zhengyi? I mean, the food we brought from the restaurant earlier."
"Ah! I almost forget. Good thing Uncle remind me." Yingyue laughed. "I will prepare the dish right away. But, now, where is Uncle Zhengyi?"
"He went out for a while. He said he wanted to buy something," said Yiren. "You stay here with Dage. Let me prepare the food for Zhengyi."
Without waiting for Yingyue's approval, Yiren stood up instanter. He walked into the kitchen whistling.
Yingyue looked at Shanquan. Shanquan just nodded when he saw Yingyue's gaze. The two of them then continued to watch television. There was some news that was actually quite interesting. But because their minds were filled with the problems they were facing, they did not pay close attention to the news.
Less than half an hour later, Zhengyi arrived home. He was carrying a blue plastic bag. His face was so bright. Shanquan guessed that Zhongli had said something encouraging.
Yiren had already prepared the dishes for Zhengyi. He put the dish on the dining table. He smiled and waved when he saw Zhengyi's presence.
"Since earlier, you must have not eaten lunch. Yiren has prepared your lunch. Go eat first," said Shanquan.
Zhengyi smirked at Shanquan's words. "This isn't lunch time. Maybe we should call it an early dinner."
Shanquan smiled. "Whatever it's called, you still have to eat."
"Okay!" Zhengyi nodded respectfully. "But wait a minute. I have to change first."
Zhengyi went into the bedroom and was inside for about five minutes. He came out in different clothes. With firm steps, he moved towards the dining table. He looked so excited.
"So many dishes." Zhengyi smiled broadly.
"Please eat." Yiren laughed so widely.
"Okay! I'm eating now," said Zhengyi. After that, he guttled the dishes served on the table.
Yingyue changed the television channel. Her face was a bit sullen. With great care, Shanquan looked at Yingyue. He could understand the anger she was feeling right now.
"You don't have to worry. Everything will be fine." Shanquan clasped Yingyue's palm.

Yingyue turned her head. She smiled. "I'm not too worried. I just want tomorrow to come soon."
Shanquan laughed. How about you go to sleep first? I'll wake you up when the pick-up car arrives."
"I don't want to!"
"All right. We'll just sit here," said Shanquan.
Yingyue suddenly stood up. She walked over to the frame where the doors and windows were attached. She looked out through the windowpane.
"What are you doing?" asked Shanquan.
"Soon the sun goes down, brother Caihong hasn't shown up yet," Yingyue said.
"Just be patient. Caihong's acquaintances are high-ranking cops, so their men will definitely be eager to help us. Even though they haven't shown up here yet, I'm sure they must have started working," Shanquan said.
"Ah! This food is delicious," said Zhengyi. He had just finished eating.
"You two come here first," Shanquan said.
Yiren and Zhengyi approached the living room in a flash.
"I'm going to explain the things we saw and experienced today. The things I didn't get to tell you guys earlier," Shanquan said.
Shanquan described in detail everything from the atmosphere at the station when they came out of the basement, the situation at the fire site, the painting exhibition Caihong took part in, to the restaurant where Caihong treated them. Yiren and Zhengyi listened with solemn faces.
"So, what are our plans now?" Zhengyi asked.
"We will wait for the police to arrive. After that we will give some information to them. Then we'll wait for a call from the Xinxiu kidnappers. Oh, and of course, we will wait for Qiuzhen to come home. I am sure he will be very surprised. So when he comes home, take him straight to the room. Explain briefly what happened." Shanquan looked at the faces of his two friends.
The two friends of Shanquan nodded.
They heard a car stop outside their house.
"Ah! That must be Caihong,” said Shanquan.,
Yiren got up from the sofa and opened the door. He walked outside. In a moment, he was back with Caihong and Yixiong. But it was not just the two of them. There was still one more person who came to the house. She was a woman in her sixties. The woman was carrying several plastic packages. So sharp, a fragrant smell wafted from the plastic packages she was having.
"Ah! Let me introduce you first. This is the person who took care of me. Her name is Diwu Xianmei,” said Caihong. "You can call her Miss Diwu."
"Good evening Miss Diwu," said Shanquan.
"Good evening," said Miss Diwu.
"What is this?" Zhengyi pointed to the packages that Miss Diwu was carrying.
"Uncles and Miss Lüqiu must not have eaten dinner. Here I brought some dishes." Caihong laughed politely.
Even the sun has not completely set. Of course, we haven't had dinner yet. It's not time yet. Or maybe Caihong used to eat dinner at this time.
"Ah! I just ate," said Zhengyi. His face was like folded paper.
"It's okay. You can eat again," Yixiong said.
"Good! Good! Incidentally, we haven't cooked at all," said Yiren. He laughed out loud.
"Thank you," Yingyue said. "Let's go to the kitchen." He took Miss Diwu to the kitchen to prepare dinner for the evening.
Caihong smiled. "Dear Uncles. Don't worry! I already called the police. Now let's eat first. Then I will explain in detail."
Shanquan smiled. "All right! We'd better sit in the dining room right away. Wait for the food."
They all then moved from the living room to the dining room, which was located directly behind the family room. The dining table in the room, all this time, had really witnessed various important events. There, they chatted lightly about the things going on around them.
"Please call your driver. I want him to eat with us." Shanquan patted Caihong on the shoulder.
"But, Uncle. Let him stand guard outside. If we have to leave soon, he can start the car right away."
"I think today he has proven himself to be able to act quickly. He is a very agile person. So that's not a problem," said Shanquan.
"Okay, Uncle!"
Caihong left the dining room. Soon he was back again with the driver.
"Please have a seat," Yixiong said. "We have dinner together."
"Thank you, Sir!" said the driver.
"What time will the police arrive?" Yiren asked.
"Be patient, Uncle. After eating, I'll explain!" Caihong answered Yiren's question with a smile. In Shanquan's eyes, Caihong's smile looked somewhat mysterious.
After about ten minutes of waiting, Yingyue and Miss Diwu came out of the kitchen carrying their dinner dishes.
"Dinner is ready!" Yingyue said in a thunderous voice. This was the first time Shanquan heard Yingyue make such a loud voice.
Soon after that, they all had dinner. The food was actually fantastic. But everyone's attention was not focused on the dishes. The cases they faced had really caught their attention.

Essence Eater (A Super Progression Fantasy)
Gods. Demons. Aliens. Superheroes. Supervillains.Consume them all for power. Eighty years have passed since WW2, when Prime took to the skies and ended the war. No one knows what gave him his power, or what birthed the wave of supers that came after. Some claimed the nuclear bombs dropped in Japan cracked the barrier between Universes, allowing alien energies to enter the dimension. Others believed the wars finally triggered what humanity needed to reach a new stage of evolution. Daniel Das lives with his uncle in post-super London, the League of Hero's primary hub. He's spent all of his twenty-one years pushing himself, training in martial arts and studying supers, hoping he'll awaken his metagene and gain super powers. The cut-off age is close, but he hasn't yet awakened superpowers. Meanwhile, the League is steadily losing parts of the city to the growing villain factions. Daniel's uncle wishes to keep him away from the world of supers, but with the hot zones closing in, that's easier said than done. There are villains selling unregulated superpowers to gangs and dark days are on the horizon. Despite his limitations, there is no stopping Daniel. He is ravenous for power. If needed, he will ally with demons if they give him the power to protect his family and home. -------------------------------- This world building is heavily inspired by Worm and The Boys. It features dark, realistic storylines, corporation-funded heroes, and villains who aren't necessarily bad guys. The protagonist's powerset involves the crowd-favourite consuming enemies for power trope, too. The GameLit/LitRPG elements are super light and takes a while to kick in. The powercreep is slow as well since I don't enjoy overpowered protagonists. Chapters everyday until book 1 is complete. The schedule will change once I reach that point.

Curiosity Killed The Imp
A/N: On hiatus (higher priority). The story is planned out but I need to do some rewriting for clarity and cohesiviness. Still very interested in the story though. Aeris is a place of endless conflict. Bloody evolution is the way forward, and the closed fist is the path given. Life is a luxury granted only to the strong. In a tiny corner, at the edge of a volcanic land, is born an imp. An imp no different from any other save one thing. An anomaly in its code. A blip in its creation. For unlike other imps, this one was born…curious. Book Cover by Betty Elgyn: https://www.deviantart.com/bettyelgyn

Soul Core Online
Soul Core Online was a game that few people were interested in until after it was released, due to its odd way of handling character growth but this soon changed as people started to realise just how different this game was. Unlike many of its predecessors the NPCs in Soul Core Online acted in a way that was indistinguishable from real people and the world felt alive because of this instead of the empty and sterile cities we had come to expect, even walking down the street could give you insights to how these people lived. In my case this was the world that I had always wanted to visit and I soon found myself embroiled in the constantly changing world that is Soul Core Online.
