《BLOODTHIRSTY》22. Suspicion

Normally Winter was supposed to be inside. Her safe space also known as her dorm room. She felt like as long she was inside nothing bad could happen. Yet she knew she was being stupid. Evil never needed a door wide open for it to enter. Winter deep down knew this yet she still saw her dorm room as a safe space.
Normally she wasn't planning on leaving anytime soon, but She found herself being in Brian's apartment again. Even when she was surrounded by people she couldn't find a way to stop overthinking.
She had tried to play songs. Her speaker on blast, hoping it would silence her thoughts. In the hope it would make her think about something else, but she still found herself thinking back. Winter had to calm herself down, however she didn't know how.
She stood up from her seat and went to the kitchen. Fixed herself a glass of water hoping it would cool her down. She turned around at the sound of someone laughing. Revick looked quite amused by the girl. He didn't know if it was the way she was acting or the way she was thinking. Whatever it was he tried not to be too mad at her, after all he understood why she felt the way she did.
"You know Winter all the stressing you have been doing what is that for?" His piercing green eyes made Winter turn away from his gaze.
"I'm not stressing." She tried to convince him yet he didn't believe her.
"You have never been a good liar." Rev pointed out and Winter scratches her head in frustration.
Even if she did want to talk about it, even if she did want to tell a soul about what was troubling her. Who would believe her. They didn't believe her years ago when she told them she had been kidnapped by a group of vampires. They didn't believe her when she told them, she wasn't crazy. Everyone blamed it on her having a trauma. Perhaps they were right but Winter wasn't crazy, she knew what she had seen.
If her close friends didn't believe her, why would Revick? Even if she did tell him, she didn't know how to let the words pass her lips.
"It's complicated Rev." She told him instead of the truth.
Revick leaned on the fridge and watched the girl. "If you can't talk to me about it, find someone you can talk to. Keeping everything in won't do you any good love." Revick already new she won't listen.
Winter nodded and tried to make her way towards the living area, however Revick blocked her way. "Last time you have been worried about Arculus right?" He asked her and she nodded her head. "How is he doing?" He asked curious.
"His doing fine even though I haven't seen him this week." Winter admitted.
"Why haven't you seen him yet? You wanted to spend time with me instead?" Revick asked the girl playfully and finally brought a smile on the girl's face.
Winter let out a chuckle and shook her head. "As much as I love you, I would be lying if i said I wanted to spend time with you instead."
It was silent. Winter was shocked by the words that flew out of her mouth automatically. She didn't even think before she opened her mouth. Of course there was nothing wrong with wanting to spend time with Arculus. But how much time can one person spend with a friend.
Rev found himself laughing at her words but it brought him to an idea. "It looks like you have grown a lot closer to him."

She smiled to herself at the thought of the man hiding in the dark. "I mean yes kind of."
"Have you thought about telling him whatever has been on your mind? I'm sure he would love to listen to you." Revick watched the way she was deep in thought.
"I should be able to handle my own problems Rev, if I don't learn now when will I ever?" The girl tried her best not to be vulnerable. She tried her best not to show her frustrations. Yet when it came to Revick, all the words she was supposed to keep to herself always found their way out. He smiled to the girl and held her hand. Revick could smell her fear and how she was so afraid. Yet he knew there was nothing to be afraid off.
"Put some faith in yourself. Whatever is troubling you, you will get through it." He tried his best to calm her down, to keep her heartbeat from raising.
"I should probably tell him, but I can't." Winters hand started trembling again and it reminded her of her past. Of how she had to learn how to live normally all over again. Without the paranoia, without the thought that everyone was out to kill her. Being captive really messed with her mind, yet she held on. She didn't give up back then so she shouldn't do it now.
"Why can't you?" Revick asked curious.
"Have you ever had a gut feeling?" She asked him with raised eyebrows and he nodded his head.
A chuckle escaped his lips. "All the time."
"Well I have this feeling that he won't be happy. I have never seen him completely angry, and trust me Rev my gut feeling is telling me that I do not want to see that." Winter told him recalling his reaction when she told him she felt unsafe.
Revick frowned his eyebrows. "You don't think he would get more angry if you don't tell him?"
Winter was silent, she had never been a good liar. Everyone knew that was a fact. She would never be able to lie to save a life. Yet being silent was what she always did, no matter how scared or terrified she was. She had to keep everything to herself because telling someone would only bring more harm than good.
"He can't get angry about something he doesn't know about." She felt bad for keeping this from him, but keeping secrets is what she always did.
Revick looked back to the girl disappointed. "Don't underestimate him." Winter looked back at him with wondering eyes. The way he said it was as if he knew something he wasn't supposed to know. As if Revick knew Arculus personally, however they have only met once.
Revick noticed the way she was staring and composed himself quickly. "Well if there is one thing I have learned. We will always do everything to keep your loved ones safe right." Winter stared back at him. His green eyes never leaving Winter. He just had to make sure of one thing before he left her alone.
"You love your friends right?" Revick asked her with raised eyebrows.
"Yes, I do." She told him and rolled her eyes. That was a weird question to ask.
Revick laughed. Rolling your eyes is quite a human gesture. He smiled at her actions and turned around, making sure his back was facing her. "I hope you will remember that."
Winter was confused and called after his name, however she had already heard the door slamming. She was already frustrated but right now she wanted to know what he meant. What did he mean, what is she supposed to remember?

She composed herself and thought that maybe paying Arculus a visit wasn't so bad. Winter also hasn't been in the forest for a long time and she found herself missing that place. She wasn't sure why, maybe it was because this was the place where she met Arculus. Or maybe because she missed him. Whatever the reason may have been, Winter found herself taking her coat and putting it on. Leaving Brian's apartment and reaching for the forest.
Right before she entered the place she called out for him. She saw the green lights and entered the forest. The forest spirits where flying around here as if they were making sure she was going to be safe. Shortly after she found Arculus staring right back at her but with someone she had seen before.
Orobas eyes landed on the human girl and he had wished he hadn't paid Arculus a visit. A sign left his lips as he watched the way the expression changed on the girls face. From happy to see Arculus to completely confused.
"Winter this is Orobas, Orobas this is winter." Arculus introduced them both to each other.
Orobas smiled and pretended as if he had never seen her before. "Nice to meet you Winter." He turned around to face Arculus. "I have to go but remember what I told you." Orobas vanished and it was just Arculus and Winter.
"Honestly didn't expect you here." He told her truthfully and kissed her forehead.
"Well I kind off missed you?" She told him and wrapped her arms around his torso.
"Kind off?" He asked with raised eyebrows, while her heartbeat raised.
"A lot." She corrected herself and placed her head on his chest.
"You're not cold?" He asked her with raised eyebrows and she nodded her head.
Together hand in hand they walked to his house. Winter has never been here and was surprised. The house was big but cozy at the same time. She had been here for the first time but somehow already felt like home. Winter sat down on the couch and watched the way Arculus was glancing at her.
"Is their something wrong?" She asked him with raised eyebrows.
"I should be asking you that." Arculus sat down besides her and pushed her hair at the side, so he can have a better view on her face.
"I didn't want to ask you anything about Lazarus, but right now I have no choice. What happened between you two." Arculus had a frown on his face and Winter wished she had stayed at the apartment with Brian.
"Listen winter I really don't want to force you, but that man has something that I want back. I need the thing he has stolen from Orobas or I'm at risk of dying. We are all at risk of dying." Arculus looked in her eyes, he could see fear. The same fear as he saw the night she went to the hospital for her brother. Arculus wanted to help her, he wanted to protect her and understand her. However she wasn't letting him.
"His going to find me Arculus." Winter said with tears in her eyes but she refused to cry, she had enough of crying.
"He won't, I'll be there to protect you. Just tell me what you know about him." Arculus asked here well holding her hand in his.
Winter was hesitating, yet she knew better than to keep her mouth shut. If he was at rick of dying than she had to do something. She may have been a foolish person but she will always protect her friends. "Some years ago I...I got kidnapped." She bit the inside of her cheeks. The memories came rushing in and there was no turning back.
"There was a this castle with a lot of men inside. The first night there...they bit me. I was blind folded you know, I was confused to why a group of men were freaking biting me. But than I realised that they were actually drinking my blood. The Lord...I- I mean Lazarus would sometimes if he was in a good mood stop them from attacking me, however he was not always there."
Arculus eyes turned red, his clenched his fist and tried to control his anger. "How did they find you?" He asked her curious.
A humourless chuckle escaped her lips. "Oh but they didn't, they only found me because Lazarus let me go."
Arculus was in thought. Why would they randomly kidnap a human girl? Just to feed themselves? However if that was the case why would he let her go. Vampire don't kidnap girls and keep them hostage and then proceed to free them when they want. Something wasn't adding up, there was a part of the story missing and he was sure of that.
"How did you get kidnapped? I mean they didn't break into your house or something." Arculus asked her with raised eyebrows.
"I was going home after a late night party. That night Chris and I had an argument." Arculus eyes widened.
"You had an argument with Chris? What was it about?" He asked her, hoping for her sake that his suspicion was wrong. And if he was indeed right, he will murder someone.
"I'm not sure, he was mad at me for speaking to this guy. I thought he was overreacting and he thought I was disrespecting him by not listening to what he was telling me to do. Afterwards I just walked away from the party feeling angry. That is when I met a group of men and got kidnapped." Winter was trying her best not to remember their faces. The face of the people that had laid their hands on her, and and hurt her physical and mentally.
Arculus could see everything, he tried his best not to hear. He didn't want to invade her privacy like that, but the fear she was feeling was so immense. He knew she coudn't bear it all, Arculus knew she couldn't take it all. He wanted her to share her pain with him. In fact he wanted to take her pain and her fear and be the one suffering in her place. He wasn't sure why he felt so strongly about her, the only thing that he did know is the fact that she didn't deserve it. She deserved to be happy and be back to her old kind self. He had to put a stop to this. He really wanted to put an end to her suffering, but he couldn't do that.
Winter had been through a lot. From a broken family to vampires attacking her. Arculus knew that she had to bring an end to her own suffering, or her pain won't go away. She felt so much like a burden that helping her would only make her feel worse. She wants to be able to stand on her own feet, be strong. Winter wanted to be able to save herself and Arculus knew. So he just watched instead of comforting her.
"Chris was the one that found you the day Lazarus let you go?" He asked suspicious. Knowing that if he was right after all, he really was about to murder someone.
"Yes, he brought me to the hospital and didn't leave me until he was sure I was alright." Winter smiled at the thought. "I was so thankful that day that he had saved me. He never let me out of his sight since, I felt like I owned my life to him." She told him truthfully but Arculus wasn't sure how to take the last part.
"How did he know where he had to look?" Arculus asked her with raised eyebrows. Winter shrugged and glanced at Arculus.
"He told me that he had been looking for days, and wouldn't stop until he had found me." Winter informed Arculus but the expression on his face scared Winter.
"What's wrong?" She asked worried but he didn't give her an answer back.
All of this looked like too big of a coincidence. What were the odds she would have an argument that would lead to her walking into the night on her own, and get kidnapped. What were the odds that Lazarus men weren't there by chance. What if this was actually planned. If he was right and his suspicion ended up being true. Chris didn't save her, he helped leading her to walk into a trap. If all of this was the truth and Arculus was hoping for the sake of Winter for this to be a big misunderstanding. However if it was the truth, it seemed like he would have to kill someone. There was only one way to found out, it seemed like he was about to pay someone a visit.
