《BLOODTHIRSTY》42. Bringing her back

There was too much pain for him to even understand what he was doing. There was too much agony and hatred towards every living being for him to even understand anything. When his claws came into contact with any being he couldn't bring himself to understand that it was a living thing. No, all Arculus was able to see was red.
When he removed their limbs and threw it away on the pile he had made, he was too far gone to even slightly understand what was happening. When he took their hearts and when he took their eyes, he did not feel any type of remorse. No sympathy felt, not even pity. Arculus was a monster and everyone finally saw him the way he really was. A sword was stuck in his stomach. Ordinary beings would die on the spot or at least need time to heal themselves. However everyone has forgotten that he was not able to feel physical pain. Arculus removed the sword with ease and threw it away. He grabbed a person with white wings by the throat.
Hearing them gasping for air made him happy. The sound of them struggling made him feel better inside. He smiled and squeezed even harder into its neck.
"I'm sorry." The person could hardly bring out.
"I surrender." The same voice spoke up and the demon was not pleased.
"Arculus wants you to suffer. All of you need to suffer." Arculus screamed and he could see people running away from him. But he wasn't done, he was far from done. He dropped the lifeless person he has been holding to the ground and glanced at the battlefield. He was ready to hurt even more people, yet he dropped to the ground when he heard her name
"Winter?" His demon called out in anger. All the emotions he had been building up inside was finally showing through his inner demon.
"My Winter." The demon said more heartbroken as he took people's life's and removed their limbs. The only name on his mind, after all she was the first to ever accept him for who he was.
The demons eyes landed on Winter's lifeless body. The rain stopped pouring and instead a man came to him. The man seemed familiar. Blond hair and grey eyes. His white wings were free and in the moment the man looked so angelic. Arculus was sure he had seen the man before. Arculus turned around to look back at Winter, he slowly started to regain his own will back. His inner demon went back into hiding.
"You have done enough." He heard a man spoke up. "You have done enough son." Arculus turned around to face the man with blond hair.
Arculus had lost his memories but after looking at the man long enough he knew who it was. "You decided to show up? I feel special now." He told the man with white wings.
"Stop this foolishness, you have done enough." The man repeated and Arculus could only think about the love of his life that died.
Arculus looked down to his hands that were covered in blood. "You erase my memories, abandon me in the forest to be raised by spirits. Did not even explain to me what was happening and why. You made me grow up fatherless and motherless. Forced me to find my origins on my own. I looked for you everywhere." Arculus screamed in agony. "I searched for you everywhere. I did not sleep until I had answers. All of those sleepless nights just for you to find me. You only came because I lost control right? You would have never bothered to even speak to me. A war I had to lead and all of this just for her to die?" Arculus was trying to control himself. He understood that his inner demon only took over when he was struggling. However the pain he was feeling was unbearable. It hurt too much.

"I haven't done enough father." Arculus stood in front of his father. Looking into his eyes with no fear at all. "I can do far more than just taking lives father. Your kind wanted a dammed war after all. I shall give it to you." Arculus said as he grabbed an other angel. Slashed his throat open and dropped him on his father's feet. He grabbed another one and another, there was no end to his killing. This time he did have control, yet he didn't stop himself. His red eyes were only filled with pain.
"Winter wouldn't have wanted this." His father spoke up while looking at his son with shame.
"She wouldn't have wanted to get her life taken away from her either, yet here she is...gone." Arculus spoke while he grabbed an other angel and killed him.
They tried to stick knives into him, in the hope it would make him bleed. They tried to shoot Arrows and stab him with a sword, yet nothing worked. The creatures that have been watching on the side started to make their way on the battlefield. Men that changed into wolves, men that drank blood. Creatures that could fly and creatures that had stayed hidden for so long. They all made their way towards him.
"God of the underworld." A woman spoke with long blond hair and golden eyes. "You are far too great to even be standing here, yet we cannot let you kill more people. You cannot take more lives." The woman spoke up with pain in her eyes.
Arculus glanced at Winter's lifeless body. The shirt that Amdusias had wrapped around her wound was already covered in blood. He couldn't control his anger when he saw her like that. He never was capable to see her cry. Imagine if she had been murdered. No he was far too weak for that. His fangs were out and so were his claws. His eyes did not return to its original eye colour.
"Try to stop me than." Was all he could bring out and perhaps that is when all hell broke loose.
The entire city was up in flames, humans were running away from the battlefield. They were all running away from a monster with claws and fangs. The amount of corpses laying on the ground was impressive, disturbing but impressive. No one understood how a simply man could have taken on more than a thousand men. It was hard to understand how a simple man could have killed almost all of them. His entire body was covered in blood, blood that did not belong to him. He had an entire pile made out of corpses as he sat on top of it.
The smell of blood was strong but Arculus wasn't complaining. All he wanted was for the blood to mask the sweet smell of his human. He tried to not remember the way her heartbeat sounded like music to him. He tried to forget the beautiful melody. Yet all he could remember was her smile. Her damned smile that could have brought him to his knees. The way her laughter could have cured the sadness he was feeling right now. The way her brightness could have filled in the hole in his chest right now. The more life's he took the more he understood. She took his heart with her when she left.
Arculus smelled his hands. He wanted nothing more than to forget the pain in his chest. However it was impossible for him. All he could hear was her name, all he could see was her smile that warmed his heart. The warmth he lacked right now.

"P-prince Arculus?" Mezic tried to carefully approached the man with darkness surrounding him.
"What is it Mezic?" He asked her while he glanced at Amdusias that was holding his human.
"I-it's not my place to talk, but...I think you went too far." She said barely above a whisper.
His eyes locked with Mezic as he raised a eyebrow. "I went too far? Not a wise thing to say to a man that has gone mad Mezic. Because guess what? I can even go further." He said while his heart broke a little more.
He stood up and stepped on some corpses while he tried to reach Winter. Her lifeless body made tears roll down his cheeks. He kneeled next to her body as he found it hard to even breath. He took her in his arms.
"I promised her that we would figure it out." He told his most trusted demons.
"Her soul will be judged by the Queen. That means she would be in the underworld." Orobas tried to lighten the mood yet Arculus was still worried.
"She won't stay there. A soul like her would go to heaven. But that isn't what is making me upset. How do I explain this to Gio? What do I tell Lazarus and her mother? I wanted her alive, I just wanted her alive." He said while his heart broke in pieces. Nothing was going to make him feel better. He caressed her cheeks softly and kissed it.
"I love her." He spoke while he held on to her. "I love her so much that it hurts."
"There needs to be something we can do." Amdusias said while glancing at the angel that was married to his Queen.
Arculus faced his father that had been standing not so far away from his human. His gaze never leaving his father but somewhere Arculus resented him. "Did you see who killed her?" His father asked careful not to trigger his son inner demon to wake up again. There has been enough bloodshed.
"Yes I have, they disappeared before I could kill them myself." Arculus said in anger.
"Those that killed her also killed her father. As we are speaking they are trying to find away to kill her brother." Dagon informed his son while he kneeled down to see the wound. He stuck his hand out, ready to touch her yet he could feel his son glaring at him.
"You can bring her back yourself son, you don't need my help. You're a God, start acting like one." His father said before vanishing yet again.
Amdusias looked at the two demons besides him. "It's not the time and I know but did he just shade you?" He asked confused.
Arculus ignored Amdusias comment and focused on Winter instead. The angels words repeating itself over and over again.
"You can bring her back yourself."
So he rose up with winters lifeless body in his arms. He let his wings be free and he flew away. The demons that were left to fight all looked up to the sky. Wondering where their leader was going. Arculus was going to look for her body among all the souls that have died. When he had landed in the underworld he went to the place where all the souls were supposed to be judged by his own mother. However when he barged in there his mother was far from happy that he was there.
The Queen's eyes were narrowed when she watched her son, making his way to her with confidence and authority. Already acting like he owned the place.
"I need her back." He told the Queen but she wasn't having it.
"I can't do that." She replied to him simply already knowing that her son was in pain. "You see how many humans that have died?" His mother asked him, referring to the millions of souls in front of her ready to be judged. "If I one soul get to live again so do the others. But I simply pass judgement on the beings that have already passed, I do not resurrect them." His mother said sternly and she was right. Arculus knew she was right, but he didn't want to believe her. He had always been incapable of excepting the truth.
So all Arculus did was remember. He tried to remember what he was told. After all he was a god, and he didn't need someone to give him commands. Arculus slowly disappeared from his mother's field vision. He decided to go look for the pure soul himself. It didn't take him a long time to find her and when he did his heart ached even more. The state her soul was in was the same with her lifeless body. The only difference was the fact that the soul was aware that it had passed away while the body was just cold and lifeless.
Arculus placed the body on the floor and with his right hand he tried to push her soul back in her body. He wasn't sure if it would work or not but to his surprise it did. He didn't waste any more time and brought her body back to where she was struck with the dagger. Arculus simply didn't want one of his mother's guards to catch on. When they finally returned back and he had placed the body on the ground to check for wounds since he didn't have the time to do it in the underworld.
Despite the dagger almost going trough her heart, he could finally hear a heartbeat forming. Orobas and Amdusias noticed. Mezic kneeled down to see how deep the wound was. She glanced at Arculus to ask for permission and it was given. He nodded and she placed her hand on her chest. She used her ability of time to make her body go back to how it was before all of this happened. Sadly she was only able to close her wound and not save her completely.
"I did not expect you to help." Amdusias said impressed.
Mezic smiled when she saw the fact the human was slowly getting better. "She is the future Queen...." she paused as she stood up from the ground. "Even if I do not want to believe it myself." She whispered softly as she paid attention to her surroundings.
Orobas was quiet, not saying a word. Simply observing and wondering what they needed to do next. The pile of corpses has already been taken care of by Dagon. The demons that had survived were all kneeling down with their head low, in fact after Winter got struck it seemed as if they weren't even able to fight back even if they wanted to. Which made him remember what Revick told him once.
"Don't let anyone close to you die." Orobas said out loud and glanced at Arculus. "Revick that spirit had said that, I think it was a warning." Revick said while trying to figure out what their next move was supposed to be. Their prince was too much hurt and in agony to even be able to speak up.
"He probably already knew her faith and yours too Arculus. However he was not able to prevent it." Orobas said out loud and tried to recall the night they had barged in Revick's home.
Arculus picked Winter up and thought about all the thing he had done with her. Their late night walks when they just met, or the way he would watch her without her knowing. The times where he went on a search for his parents and didn't want to let Winter distract him. If he had to be honest, he actually tried to cut off all ties. However he wasn't able to bring himself to walk away from her.
Now that she laid in his arms almost lifeless, he realised how he had so many opportunities to tell her the way he felt but he was being such a Coward.
"Let's bring her home." He said simply while letting his wings free.
"You want to bring her back to Lazarus?" Amdusias wondered out loud.
"She was supposed to stay hidden with her family. I'm bringing her back to her family." He said simply while his heart ached.
"Wait...what about you?" Mezic asked confused while she observed him.
"What about me?" He asked her with raised eyebrows.
"You called her family her home, However you're also part of it." Mezic tried to remind him.
"She needs her family right now, not me." He said simply while he took a deep breath.
While he flies away high in the sky, with a dying Winter in his arms it had made him feel upset. It ached and it drove him insane. The image of her blood spilling out of her body resurfaced. His inner demon almost finding its way back out. Reminding him that this war, was far from over.
