《BLOODTHIRSTY》44. Deep in thoughts

It was a dull night, a night everyone would remember in some years. A night that no one will ever forget. Today was the day that would be written in history books. The future generation would learn this in school and talk about it with their friends. This day was important for many. All creatures have been waiting for this moment. The moment where their would be a shift. A moment where gods stopped being gods and returned where they came from. Each and everyone of them had their own reasons. But the one mayor reason why they all wanted to go back home was to see their beloved mother. They all just wanted to cross paths with Eref. The goddess that had created every single thing living beings could see today.
The creatures that had killed Winters father and her grandparents were burning for eternity, Arculus made sure to find them right after he had paid Winter a visit. Right after that event, the war between demon and Angels have come to an end. All living beings went back to living in harmony. Yet there was one crucial fact no one paid attention to, it was earth itself. Humans lived in denial and in fear of the unknown, but now they had seen everything. They have seen what kind of beings were out there and what kind of damaged they were able of doing.
But there wasn't only change on earth, there was change everywhere. If the gods returned back to Eref. What will become of heaven if Azeric is gone. Leaving the underworld unguarded was one big mistake, and what about the ocean that needed its protection?
Arculus now king of the underworld did not understand why everything had to move so fast. Yet he was crowned king of the underworld right after he had ended the war. Now he was known as the god of the underworld. Heaven had replaced Azeric with an powerful angel called Elius, and for the ocean it was Arculus unknown cousin that now ruled over the place.
Arculus had met the new goddess of the ocean. She had golden eyes that were noticeable from miles away, just like her father. Unlike her father her skin was darker. It reminded him of the beauty of earth. She was named after one of the most precious stones in the underworld. Eznell was stubborn, at first glance she was emotionless. But he had never met a crybaby like her.
"We will take our leave, but remember we are a part of you. We aren't completely gone. If you see any stars, just know that it is us." The Queen spoke up and Arculus hugged his mother. Not liking the fact they had never had any time to bond. But he had gotten used to everyone always leaving him, so he wasn't so upset.
"Do not behead anyone in my absence, remember I can see everything." Amelus God of the ocean spoke up sternly and Eznell nodded her head in annoyance.
"You know I would never do that, I was just joking." Eznell said in defence.
Azeric God of heaven smiled at everyone. "I have nothing to say to you Elius, you have learned everything I have tried to teach you. The only thing I would say is try to get along with Arculus. I do not want to hear thunder did I make myself clear?" Azeric asked the two young men and they both nodded their heads. Eznell thought it was funny and ended up laughing.

"Goodbye we will see each other around." The gods said in union and left the new ones in charge.
Eznell smiled took her staff covered in diamond and seashells. Held on to it and stomped it on the ground, a passing opened slowly and there was a whole in the ground. The whole was filled with water. Arculus sighed at how extra Eznell was being.
"You could have just left by foot." Arculus spoke annoyed at the sight of the hole in his ground.
"You know I don't like using my feet, besides I'm faster with my tail." Eznell said and smiled at Arculus. Right before jumping in the water and disappearing.
Elius already left without saying goodbye, which Arculus didn't mind at all. Arculus didn't mind anything, not even the big chances that has been happening. He found himself wishing things not taking a turn so fast but he didn't mind at all. The only thing he did mind was to speak to Winter. This time he promised himself not to chicken out and tell her what she needed to hear. The words got stuck in his mouth as usually and he couldn't bring himself to speak up.
"Oh my king, would you like some thee?" Amdusias asked politely but Arculus Scoffed.
"Why does it sounds like you're making fun of me?" Arculus asked annoyed and Horicks laughed.
"Probably because I am." Amdusias retorted back while sitting on the couch besides Arculus.
"Aren't we supposed to call you king now and not call you by your first name?" Orobas asked Arculus but he shrugged.
"Everything that comes out of Amdusias mouth is already not taken seriously." Arculus answered and Amdusias got offended.
"You guys don't even deserve me." Amdusias said while standing up and leaving the room.
"His grumpy again?" Arculus asked and laughed.
"Yeah, as usual." Orobas responded and closed his eyes for a brief moment. After an entire war he could finally relax.
"When are you going to tell her?" Orobas asked curious but Arculus was trying so hard to change the subject.
"Do you have any news on the harmed demons? Are they recovery well?" Arculus asked curious but Orobas saw past his facade.
"You will have to tell her sooner or later Arculus." Orobas spoke up with so much certainty and he knew that Orobas was right.
"I already told her about it, maybe not in detail but she knows." Arculus tried to defend himself, yet he knew it was completely pointless.
"Wouldn't it be better if you spoke to her? What if she found out about it by someone else? I'm sure that would hurt more." Arculus nodded his head when Orobas spoke.
"I'll tell her, I just need time." He said while he stood up from his seat. Looking out of the window and saw how everyone was restoring the places that had been destroyed because of the war.
"We are immortal, we have all the time in the world." Orobas told his most trusted friend. "But she is mortal, I'm sure I don't even have to remind you of that." His voice held concern, towards Arculus and even towards Winter.
Orobas stood up from the couch and left Arculus all alone, perhaps that is what he needed. A moment of silence, a small moment to get it together and finally do what he needed to do all along. For him seeing her was a reminder. A beautiful but painful reminder that she had almost died. It wasn't his fault, he wasn't the one to blame and Arculus was full aware of that. Yet even when he was aware of that he felt hurt. He had promised her he would keep her safe. Arculus had sworn to himself no harm would come her way, but she almost died right in front of him.

It was the shame and guilt that sticked on to him that made it close to impossible for him to forget. To forget what he was so incapable of doing. Every time his eyes landed on her, he only got sucked back to that night. The night were she was struck with a dagger that had ended her life instantly. He remembered every single detail, and to him that was the worst torture he could have ever received.
In this moment he had understood that despite not being able to feel pain physically. The event that had taken place not so long ago had scarred him so much emotionally. He felt like he was still drowning. Trying so hard to grab into her but she keep on getting out of his grasp. Swimming deeper into the ocean in the hope he could save her, but they all know when she had left him. Lifeless on the ground and her warm skin turning completely cold, he understood that she had taken something of his when she left. She had taken all the sanity he had left. The only sanity that kept his inner demon at bay.
Silly Arculus was aware. There was no reason for him to overthink. Winter is still here and that is what should have mattered to him, but his heart ached every single time when he looked at her. He didn't want a reminder of his failures.
"King Arculus a small problem has occurred." The maid told him and Arculus offered her a small smile.
"What happened?" He asked her and she stared at her hands.
"Some she-demons have been standing in front of the gate, even When I told them they can't enter." The maid told him and he nodded his head.
He already new what it was about. Since he didn't not have a bride, the other she demons were planning on competing to win the King over. That is what also happend in the underworld when his mother wasn't married yet. He stood up and walked towards the golden gate that the guards always protected as their lives depended on it. But as powerful Arculus was he knew he didn't need any protection.
"Leave before I put you in prison where you wont see daylight again." Arculus threatened them and the she demons took steps back.
Even when the she demons took steps back he could see that it wasn't over yet. Those demons will continue to fight for a place that had already been taken. Arculus took a deep breath and decided to visit Winter. He let his wings out and flew away. It was already night time, so he entered her room while she was asleep. She looked so peaceful while sleeping, Arculus decided he wouldn't wake her up and come back the next day but than her voice filled up the room. She never spoke loudly but when she called his name it was like he was hearing thunder.
"Arculus I know you are there." Winter spoke up while looking around the room, yet she couldn't see him.
Arculus showed himself and sat on her bed. Eyes never meeting hers. "I came to talk." He said calmly while his heart was beating so fast.
"Sure, I wasn't really asleep." Winter said while smiling. She grabbed his hand and held on to it.
"I'm have been crowed King of the underworld, and sooner or later I'll have to find a Queen." Arculus never looked Winter in the eyes when he spoke.
"You have a family here, dreams you want to fulfil. People you care about are all here on earth. I love you Winter, I really do. I just don't want you to leave everyone you love behind just to be with me." His heart ached when he spoke and even when she wasn't mated, Winter's heart was doing the same.
"I-it's My decision to make Arculus." She spoke as she got out of bed. Standing in front of him but even when she was standing so close to him, he was too far for her to reach. "And I actually thought about this. I'm not sure where we stand-" Arculus chuckled and kissed her on the lips.
"I'm not human and I did not really understand the term girlfriend. It's really a human term you know, we don't have that in the underworld." Arculus said as he laughed.
"I can imagine that, but which term...do you have in the underworld?" Her voice was so soft and her curiosity was enough to make his heart skip a beat. Her showing interest in the underworld made him belief that perhaps she was interested in him too.
"A bride, and I would love for you to be my bride Winter." Arculus spoke up but was too scared to look Winter in her eyes.
"Well i accept, but before we go the underworld I still want to finish my studies." She told him and smiled.
Arculus nodded his head in understanding. "No problem you finish your studies first." He told her and kissed her forehead.
"You will wait for me?" She asked him slightly shocked.
"I got all the time in the world Winter." He told her as he pulled her closer to him. "And you are someone I would Wait a life time for." Arculus said as took slow steps backwards.
"Your leaving?" Winter asked surprised and he nodded his head.
"Unfortunately I am. I have a kingdom that needs me, but don't worry I'll visit you in your dreams snowflake." He said as he waved her goodbye.
Winter smiled and watched as the love of her life slowly disappeared.

But what happens when Sage shows up at her doorsteps in the middle of the night, bruised and bloody?***"Sage?" whispered Solace in utter shock. He smirked at her as he leaned against the doorframe, looking her up and down from her blue penguin pajamas to her oversized t-shirt until he met her eyes. She felt a rush of emotions when she heard his voice after six months. It was the same: deep, unbothered, and familiar. "Solace Laurent, I need your help."
