《My Pixie Familiar》Chapter 97

“It’s alright Lily,” I said sensing her desire to defend me by blasting the merchant and her worker.
“Are you hurt?” Lily asked as her eyes returned to normal. She still didn’t dismiss the energy pooled in her hands. “I don’t sense any injuries.”
“It’s alright aunt Gabby,” Isabella said. Seeing her aunt’s expression, she said, “Really, I’m fine. Lily levitated me and I got frightened.”
“Ok. Are you sure?” Gabriela replied. Izzy nodded. “So, this is all just a misunderstanding?”
“Yes,” Izzy answered.
“Sorry about barging in,” Juan said offering me a hand. I took it and the older man pulled me to my feet as Lily flew to me and landed on my head.
“Get your hands off my Jase!” my familiar demanded glaring at the other man.
“It’s alright, Lily,” I said sending comforting and reassuring thoughts and feelings to my familiar. “As Gabriela said, it’s just a misunderstanding.”
“Alright, but I’m watching them,” Lily said dismissing the energy and flying above us.
“Why didn’t our familiars come in with us?” Juan asked. Gabriela and Izzy shook their heads. I shrugged.
“They know better,” Lily finally answered. Everyone looked up and her eyes flashed.
“Are pixies that dangerous?” Juan wondered aloud.
Lily laughed. “No. Your familiars are afraid of Sara. She’s right outside.”
“Oh,” Juan and Gabriela said at the same time after hearing a soft chuffing sound coming from outside the open door.
“The flashing eyes and glowing hands are a prank?” Izzy asked.
“No. Well, the eyes are,” Lily answered. “I’ll defend my Jase with everything I have.”
I looked back up at my pixie and smiled. “Just as I would for you.”
“Let’s go back to the village and get something to eat,” Gabriela urged Izzy. “You hadn’t shown up for supper, so we came to check on you.”

“We were busy sorting the compass plants we harvested today,” Isabella proudly informed her aunt.
“What good are compass plants for other than knowing which way is north and south?” Juan asked. I informed him of their uses. “Oh. I hadn’t heard that before.”
“I’ve heard of some people using them for gum,” Gabriela said before turning to face me. “How long until you have something from these plants?”
“Maybe a couple of days. I need to experiment with them.”
“Will you let me know?” the merchant asked.
“Of course,” I replied.
“Will you let me help with the experiments?” Izzy asked.
“Yeah.”
“I’ll be here early tomorrow then,” she replied.
“Come after lunch,” Lily said. “We’re going to work on your room before dealing with the compass plants.”
“You let your familiar make decisions for you?” Juan asked me.
“Yes. Lily is my life partner and best friend and I trust her above all others,” I replied as my pixie landed on my right shoulder. “She’s earned the right to help make decisions, especially those I was already leaning towards.”
“Hopefully I’ll feel the same way about my future familiar,” Izzy said wistfully.
“Anyway, let’s go get some supper,” Gabriela told her niece once more. “Jase and Lily, I apologize for barging in.”
“Me too,” Juan said.
“It’s alright,” I replied. “Hang on a moment before you go.”
I walked into the storage room and returned with a small container of salve. I held it out to Isabella.
“What’s this?” she asked.
“A salve for sore muscles made from aloe and stinging nettle,” I answered.
“It works for burns too!” Lily helpfully informed her.
“Thank you both,” Isabella said. “I’ll be here right after lunch, so don’t start without me.”

“We won’t,” I assured her while walking them to the door. They left and I looked at Lily, who had flown to and landed on the counter. “So, should we start on the remodel since the wood is here?”
“Do you want to start tonight?” Lily asked.
“Yeah, I think I do. This way we can use magic without having to worry about being seen,” I answered locking the door.
“Ok! I’ll summon the others while you start cooking supper and then I’ll help you.”
*
After supper, the pixies and me exited the backdoor and walked around to the piles of lumber. We went back in to measure the area for Isabella’s room.
“It’s getting nippy,” Yam said.
“It’s cool,” I admitted. “But nippy?”
“Sure. Want to see?” the pixie asked starting to pull her top down.
“No! No!” I exclaimed as Willow and April restrained their kin while Lily and May blocked my line of sight. Yam giggled and the others joined her.
“Y’all are terrible,” I said, which made them laugh harder. After they got themselves under control, the pixies cut some of the 2*4 boards the right length.
“Jase, if you’ll take them in, we will finish cutting the rest,” Lily said.
“Will do boss,” I replied. She grinned and pretended to crack a whip.

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)

The Attractor
Sophie, the young guardian of her disabled father travels to Mars. In 2072, as she turns 13, she discovers she must save the world from a harm so great, the Multiverse itself is hurting. She is chosen to be the pivot of rare bending Universal paradox difficult to understand much less solve. Unlike anything you have ever read. Written around a real ending. To My Father Georges Vouvelakis * The full 200+ chapter story is now written and we are editing the final 50 chapters slowly. I would love useful feedback to get this massive story to a better place before publication. Be kind, it's my first story.

Death Lives
When the universe is destroyed the avatar of death is reborn.Once an all powerful being but limited in scope, Death now has a chance to learn and grow.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------This is my first novel, please be critical of it where it needs to be. I'm not sure if there will be romance in the future. It is unlikely for the MC but perhaps I will have meaningful relationships between side characters that will be worth adding the tag.The Mature tag is simply because there will be killing, descriptive scenes, and more. There will be no described rape at all in my story, anything of the like will be merely alluded to but not talked about in any matter if at all. Please enjoy and thank you.

Neophyte: Common Route
A story about self-discovery, interpersonal relationships, magic and magical creatures-- and a silent war. Marsha is about seven years past adulthood and still feels like a scared child in her parents' home. This is exacerbated when she discovers her father has apparently keyed up his destructive, sadistic habits-- leading to a mad dash out of the house with precious cargo in tow and only one idea where to go. This begins her journey, leading to a discovery that will change her life forever. And she never wants to go back. (Warnings: Lots of descriptions of abusive, sadistic and otherwise traumatizing and triggering behavior that a parent perpetuated toward a child or multiple children. Descriptions of violence, a main character with emotional issues that will be dealt with, and a whole lot of the 'aftermath' of battles in a war. Even a few descriptions of some of those battles. Things of that nature. If you can't handle one of those, please do not read.) {I had this idea to write a 'common route' and then 'romance routes' like they do in otomes? Book 1 is the common route, and then at book 2, you choose your love interest. Each of which is encased in their own book.}
