"That is what happened, Sharon." Katelyn somberly said at the friend in their hostel room, "A gruesome moment that luckily turned out fine, thanks to a guy I will give my all life to."

"Yeah. It was great he came on time!" Sharon said, "It was a miracle he arrived on time!"

Katelyn sighed, sitting on her bed, "He is my hero. I will forever be thankful for what he did." She managed a dull, sweet smile.

Sharon as well smiled, "Now you should be able to feel something strong for him, right?"

Katelyn cleared her smile, "In the morning when we were getting out of his place- when he was bringing me here, one of his friends called me aside for a second. He took me to his room and gave me a flash disc, and mentioned that what is in the disc shows how much Lei loves me. I was so eager to see the disc, so when I was with Lei in the car, I told him to drop me at my home. He dropped me at the gate and left. Then I went to my room to see the disc." Katelyn sighed, tears brimming in her eyes.

"The disc showed a video clip of what happened- how he rushed to save me in the club, and I heard how he tackled and beat up the rapists, just because of me!" Katelyn once again sighed with tears in her eyes. She began to cry, "I saw that he can go through anything for me! He can go a thousand miles for me!" She mentioned amid sobbing, rubbing the tears on her cheeks.

"Sharon, I not only feel something strong for him, but I will die for him if a situation calls! I will do anything for him because what I feel and what is in my heart for him will make me do it. He makes me happy and amused every time I am with him. He makes me lively and complete every time I am in his company, and truly, Sharon, what I feel for this guy is a strong attachment of love and affection!"

Sharon stared at the friend in surprise. Never had she seen her talk in such a strangely ecstatic and enthralling manner. This must surely be love! "Wow, girl! That is... extraordinary." She couldn’t manage much for a response.

"I know." Katelyn's lips curved into a radiant smile, the sobbing wholly forgotten, "I am feeling wonderful and great with this feeling inside my heart! I guess I will have to talk to Diana about it because my heart has been strongly touched!" She paused, her smile widening, "I am going to tell Lei! I am going to tell him how I feel because he feels the same way. I am going to wrap my hands around him and tightly press him against me and hold him in my arms as long as possible!" She suddenly jumped out of her bed like a mad woman on loose, feelings of poignant liveliness all over her, "Sharon, I am going to look for him, NOW!"

"Whoa, girl, slow down!" Sharon now looked concerned with the friend's emotional outburst, "You are going to see him, but first relax."

Katelyn restlessly moved about in the room, looking half-suffocated by her ecstatic and elated mood, "I can't be able to relax, Sharon! Never now!" She whooped, drunk with what all would assume was love.

Just then, a knock was heard at the door. Katelyn quickly walked to it and opened it, and to her fanatic expectation, she found Lei standing at the doorstep.

"Hello, beautiful, how is your afternoon?" Lei jovially started, his left hand behind his back.

"Amazing and wonderful!" Katelyn animatedly responded, then moved and tightly hugged the gentleman, to his surprise, "I missed you."

"Oh... ummmh… Okay.” For a moment words failed Lei, “I missed you, too." It was in mere seconds when he found himself, and hugged the lady as well with his right hand wrapped around her.

"I think I should give you two some privacy. Excuse me." Sharon walked to the door and silently left the room.

Katelyn was still in the hug after the friend left, laying her head on Lei's shoulder. Their bodies were pressed against each other, making her feel good and pleasurable, a feeling she never thought existed in just a hug. When it stayed long enough, she came to the gentleman’s face, and noticed his left hand behind him, possibly hiding something, "What is behind your hand?" She tried to look at the hand, but Lei did not let her.

"Hold on. No peeking or peeping. Be patient and you will find out." Lei said, still not letting her see the surprise in his hand.

"Okay. I am patient. Show me!" Katelyn's eyes glittered in anticipation. It never occurred to her that a surprise from somebody special at heart would come with stimulating and thrilling anticipation.

"You don't look patient." Lei smiled at her.

Katelyn exhaled, trying the best she could to compose herself, but was still left with palpitating emotion, "Okay, I am now."

"Good. But you are going to wait for thirty minutes, then you will see it to your satisfaction."

"Thirty minutes! When only a second passing feels like an eternity?"

"Okay, you win." Lei smiled more, then slowly showed his hidden hand that carried a stick of red rose, "I passed by this flower shop and the vendor told me that this flower deserves the best and most beautiful in one's life." He started walking inside the room and closing the door, "So, I told the vendor to give me as I am going to give it to my second most beautiful."

"I am your second most beautiful?" Katelyn skeptically inquired, almost with a frown.

"Yes, my dear, you are." Lei moved closer to her after she had taken some steps back to allow him to close the door and get inside the room, "Do you want to know why you are my second most beautiful?"

This time Katelyn’s face twisted into a deepened frown that a snort escaped her mouth, "It doesn't matter if I know why. All I know is that the flower doesn't deserve me. It deserves your best and most beautiful, not your second best."

"Exactly, my dear." Lei smiled, "It deserves the best and most beautiful, and that, sweetie, is in me."

Katelyn looked at him uncomprehendingly, "In you?"

"Yep. You see, the best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen nor touched." Lei said tenderly, "They are felt. What I feel for you is the best of things I have ever felt in my life. It is the most beautiful thing that has ever happened in my life. So, your beauty and the rest of you come second in my life."

Katelyn stared in convivial spirit and equally feeling a rapturous adoration towards the gentleman. He can't stop making me feel good and special!

"And so, my love, the flower deserves my feelings." Lei could almost feel the emotional attachment between him and the lady after voicing out his sentiments, "But the feelings had something else in mind. They said that I should in turn give the flower to the best and most beautiful, and according to them, that best and most beautiful is you." He paused with a radiant smile on his face, "So, here I am. The ever-disturbed messenger. If I complain, I will be sacked."

Katelyn delightedly and amusedly laughed. The gentleman's charm was now from another level, another universe. How am I not the luckiest girl in the world! "If they are disturbing you this much," She looked at him with feelings of love and admiration, "Why don't you quit and find another job?"

"Ah, but I once thought of that, then I figured I would rather accept to be always sent to you and not any other girl. If they send me to another girl, I will quit with immediate effect."

Katelyn stared at him for a while, then put her arms around his neck, "You always surprise and amuse me. Why is that?" Her mellifluous tone came out indistinct and sweet.

Lei felt roused with her tone and touch, "It's not my wish, but my feelings'. It seems you mean something so valuable to them. Something more than treasures, more than their own sense, their own breath. You mean absolutely everything to these feelings."

"There you are! You are doing it again." Katelyn kept at his eyes and slowly cleared her smile. She then moved her eyes to his mouth with a thought arousing her feelings. Before she made the move, Lei leaned in to her lips and tenderly started kissing them.

This was the first time a man's lips was on Katelyn's. She felt a dramatic and sensational passion that flurried her heart excitedly, even though her lips were not moving.

Lei led her in the kiss until she realized what to do. She opened her mouth a bit more as she felt herself moving into the kiss, the sensation growing. She then created a slight amount of suction as she expanded and opened her mouth a little bigger, and repeated the process over and over, until she felt the gentleman pressing against her. Soon, the sensation climaxed to hormonal excitability. Her heart started fluttering excitedly and amorously, the urge growing inexplicably. But suddenly, the feeling was interrupted when the gentleman stopped the kiss.

She slowly opened her eyes with pulse panting and eyes sparkling with light of unwonted pleasure. The kiss had resulted in a profound love that emerged spontaneously in her heart. She wondered why the gentleman, now officially her lover, had stopped the kiss.

"Are you going to answer that?" Lei tenderly smiled at her.

It was after the question that Katelyn heard continuous knocks at the door. Her body, mind and soul had all been absorbed and engrossed in the kiss. She couldn't hear nor notice anything outside that most fervent kiss that resulted in unbridled passion between them, "I will." She sweetly said and went to the door.

Upon opening the door in the radiant and joyful spirit she had been merged into, she found an unexpected visitor at the doorstep. A visitor that instantly extinguished her spirit like it had been water poured on a fire.

Amond stood at the doorstep carrying a bunch of yellow roses in the open, "Hi." He smiled, but Katelyn only stared at him. Oh, God, why! And with flowers! What kind of a cruel coincidence is this!

What worried her the most was the bunch of roses he had come with.

"Hi." A feeble smile flashed across her face. It stung her in what she was to do, but reason informed her to let him in the room after shortly going through options.

When Amond walked into the room, the two enemies came face to face. Lei gave Amond a straight-serious look, and it was no different from Amond. They both clearly knew who they were in each other's lives.

Lei knew and discerned his enemy's way of life. A revolting and disdainful life that destroyed youths around the country, particularly in the cities. When he learned this, he dedicated himself to work hard in order to make sure he took the enemy's cataclysmic way of life down, no matter at what cost.

Amond himself had no clue that there existed a person on the planet who knew everything about him and what he did. A person who was tirelessly working hard to make sure what he was doing go down together with him. What he only knew was a person who was getting between him and the woman he adored and admired, and the person was standing right before him.

Katelyn could sense the tension and hostility between the two men, but started introductions, "Lei, this is Amond... Amond, Lei."

Lei stepped forward to the enemy, his face still livid and serious. They stared into each other's eyes for a while before Lei turned to Katelyn with a forced smile, "I will see you later, baby." He gave her the stick of rose he had come with, pecked her and immediately left. Even though he knew that he was schooled in self-restraint, he also knew that sometimes his anger could take a course that was difficult to control, and it mostly happened when he was around his enemies.

Katelyn stared at him leave, a heavy feeling pressing on her heart. The thought that his departure was because of seeing Amond and the bunch of roses further put distress on her.

"I didn't know you had company." Amond looked at her, feeling wrenched by emotions from what he had just seen. They are now together!

Katelyn let out a deep breath, her mind still roaming on what the special man in her heart could be thinking, "Amond, I want you to stop with all these...! The gifts and attention and everything!" It was her feelings that blurted out, coming sudden and uncontrolled.

Amond openly looked incredulous and mortified, and Katelyn realized she might have said an inadvertent remark, in a way she didn't mean.

"I am sorry, Amond, what I mean_"

"It's okay. I understand what you mean." Amond despondently said while walking where the study table was and putting the bunch of flowers on it.

Katelyn sighed, "It's just that Lei is my boyfriend, and it won't be nice if he sees you giving me gifts and attention. It has been lovely to get your gifts, really. Any single woman will feel good and adored, but I am not single anymore, and the gifts should only come from my boyfriend."

Amond felt crushed with sorrow by the words. He stared at her glumly with a hurt expression on his face, "You mean us... can't just work?"

Upon seeing his expression, a faint sense of compunction moved Katelyn. Indeed he had been giving all his best for approval and like. He had been consistent and regular for her to give in, but if only.

"I am sorry, Amond." She tried her best to deliver understanding, "It's supposed to work with connection. If I can't feel any, I sincerely tell, because great and fulfilling relationships work with connection."

"But why don't you feel it? I have been doing everything by the book, just like a man is supposed to. I have been treating you like how it is supposed to be. Why shouldn't you feel it?" Amond sounded desperate and frantic, his mind now clearly confused with the aspect of love.

Katelyn sighed, "I don't know, Amond. Maybe it is supposed to come naturally, or after some time, but we have been at it long enough, and I have never felt it. Maybe... maybe it is never meant to be." She spoke with calm frankness, "Amond, you are a great guy. You can make a woman feel special and great, and if the woman feels the same way, you will have an amazing relationship. You deserve that. I can't give it to you."

The revelation occurred difficult, painful and slow to Amond, although he tried to suppress the hurt with controlled composure, "I appreciate your honesty. My intentions were to make you happy. If you find it in that guy, well, best wishes." He said what he strongly didn't mean, only for the lady to see him a gentleman. I should act civilized and cultured in her presence or else I will entirely lose her if she were to see the real me.

The real him…The thought of letting go and walking away from her felt impossible. Both the mind and the heart simply could not agree to it, especially when he saw her beautiful figure in modern attires. He couldn't let go just because she didn't feel a connection to him. Connection is a modern overrated and exaggerated feature in relationships. It didn't even exist in our parents' and grandparents' eras, and yet they lived happily. My parents are happy.

"Thank you for your understanding." Katelyn felt relieved, "It really means a lot." And she found herself admiring the gentleman's comity and decorum. He is a true gentleman! If only it were to be this easy for one to let go in love affairs. It would make relationships easy to manage.

Amond nodded, then spoke with a quiet tone, "I guess... it's time to go. Goodbye." He started to the door as Katelyn farewelled him as well.

At the door, he met Sharon just about to get in the room. They greeted and he continued walking away, Sharon getting in and closing the door.

"Sharon, I will see you later." Katelyn hurriedly said, getting to the door.

But Sharon stood blocking the doorway, "Wait a minute. Where are you going?"

"I'll tell you when I come back. Move aside."

"If it's anyhow going to do with Lei, then I suggest you don't go."

Katelyn looked at the friend in surprise, "It's about him and there is absolutely nothing in the world that is going to stop me from seeing him!"

"Nothing except Diana."

The surprise expression on Katelyn's face instantly vanished, replaced with concern and worry.

"I saw her heading to the male hostels." Sharon said, walking from the door to her bed, "I think we can guess who she is probably going to visit."

The worry on Katelyn's face deepened, "When did you see her?"

"Just now, after also seeing Lei going to the hostels."

"Was she alone?"

"Yeah."

Katelyn drew out a breath and closed her eyes for a second, "I must now talk to her. But first I need to learn how to start."

"Just tell her that Lei loves you and not her, period."

"Stop that, Sharon! This is serious." Katelyn looked stern.

"Okay, girl, I am sorry. What I mean is that there is no easy way to let this out. Just have the conversation with her like you are having a conversation with your sister. That is how you should start." Sharon said then shortly paused, smiling, "Now, to cheer you up. I believe you should be happy because you and Lei can now refer to each other as lovers, right?"

Katelyn's spirit started to brighten with the friend's words. She smiled, gradually glowing, "And for the first time, Sharon, I felt how a kiss feels like. It was so passionate! I felt my heart beating with pleasure and my whole body tingling with an amazing sensation when his body pressed against mine and my breasts. It was magnificent!"

"Oh, girl, I am jealous!" Sharon happily and proudly pronounced.

"You definitely should be!" Katelyn was now brilliant and radiant with eyes flashing in excitement, "His lips felt warm and smooth... and the way he led me through the kiss..." She sighed with pleasure, "I had never felt what I did when we kissed, never in my life."

Sharon still looked happy. The best friend had now a boyfriend. She was happy and excited for her, just like the best friend was when she became lovers with her boyfriend.
