《Theirs》Chapter 56

...
When we walked through the hidden door inside the cave, we saw Niran waiting for us on the other side. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion when he headed in the opposite direction of my room. As if he could sense my confusion, Niran turned his head towards me and smiled softly.
"We're going to my office. Evanora is waiting for us there." He explained.
Oh.
After a few turns we stopped in front of a door. Niran opened it and a grinning Evanora greeted us.
"You're finally here!" She exclaimed excitedly. "I always wanted to meet the legendary Lombardis." She added with a big grin.
Tharion and Draco just glared at her and moved closer to me. Niran sat behind his desk and looked at Evanora.
"Explain." He said and for the next few minutes Evanora proceeded to explain everything that had happened.
...
"I still can't believe it." Draco said in astonishment. "How did we never notice the resemblance? It was so obvious." He added.
"There's a reason why people say love is blind." Evanora teased, earning glares from my mates.
"Since everything's cleared up, leave. You've been here long enough." Niran said with an expressionless face, not even looking at us.
Tharion and Draco exchanged looks and stood up.
"Let's go." Tharion said and grabbed my hand.
They're just going to leave like this?
I looked between my mates and Niran worriedly. I know it probably wasn't my place, but I had to do something. I can't let this quarrel go on.
"Hold on." I said and pulled Tharion's hand so he'd stop walking.
Both my mates looked at me in confusion.
"What is it Katie?" Draco asked.
"I think you three should have a long talk and make up." I said, looking between them and Niran. "This has been going on for too long and it's clearly reflecting badly on all three of you." I added.
"There's nothing to talk about." Niran mumbled, still refusing to look at Tharion and Draco.
"Yes there is!" I protested. "Do you think Alina would like to see you three like this?" I asked softly.
I probably shouldn't have used the Alina card, but I saw how happy they were around each other in Alina's memories. I wanted them to have that kind of relationship again.

I saw guilt flash in Niran's eyes when he looked at me for a second. I looked at my mates and although they showed no emotions on their faces, I know they wanted to have their friend back. All three of them were just being stubborn at this point.
"Why don't you-"
The door of Niran's office opened loudly, interrupting me. The culprit was a very disheveled Blaze.
"We need to go home a.s.a.p!" He said frantically.
"What's wrong?" Draco asked, immediately looking alert.
"It's Lyla." He said, making my nerves spike up. "She's in labour."
"What?!" I yelled in surprise.
"The messenger said she went in labour a few hours after we left." He explained hurriedly. "We need to leave now."
I turned towards Niran.
"Do you have a phone on you?" I asked him and he pointed at a landline phone next to me.
I quickly grabbed it and entered Lyla's phone. It rang a few times before someone picked up.
"Hello?" Kayda said on the other side.
"It's me, Kate. How is Lyla?" I asked worriedly.
"Oh thank God, you're alright." She said with a loud sigh.
"Kayda." I groaned impatiently.
"Right." She chuckled and then there was some shuffling. "It's for you." She said to someone.
"H-hello?" Lyla groaned out.
Before I could say anything, Blaze shoved me to the side and took the phone from my hand. I immediately glared at him, but he was completely ignoring me.
"Don't worry Ly, I'll be there soon. Hang in there okay? You're doing so good." He mumbled in a panicked voice and I just know Lyla's cursing him out from all the incomprehensible screaming.
I stifled a snort.
"How are we gonna get there in time? We're too far away." Draco mumbled to himself.
"A portal?" I suggested because they said all hordes have portals, meaning Niran's has one too.
"A whole day would still pass even if we used a portal. I don't think Lyla can hold of for that long." Tharion explained, making me remember the timezone difference.
"Shit." I mumbled to myself.
"I can help." Evanora said out of nowhere.

I looked at her in surprise because I thought she left a long time ago.
"How?" Blaze immediately asked.
"I can teleport myself wherever I want and I can bring one person with me. But only one because my magic can't handle more." She explained and I immediately pushed Blaze towards her.
"Take him with you. He's the dad so he needs to be there. The rest of us will use a portal." I said and she nodded.
Then she grabbed Blaze's hand and they were gone within a second, leaving a cloud of smoke behind. I turned towards Niran to ask him to take us to his portal, but he was already up.
"Follow me." He said and exited his office.
We quickly followed him and after a few minutes we stopped in front of a portal which looked similar to ours. Niran placed a golden gem on the portal and then moved away.
"Let's go." Draco said and took my hand in his.
I looked at Niran.
"Our talk from earlier is not finished yet. I'll be back." I warned and walked into the portal.
And after a few seconds, we were standing in front of our portal.
"Go, go, go!" I urged and we rushed towards Lyla and Blaze.
Tharion picked me up and we moved even faster now.
'How is she?' I asked Kayda through the mindlink, but there was no answer.
'Hello?' I said, but still no answer.
'Kay-'
Tharion's sudden stop startled me and I looked in front of me. I noticed we were already in front of Lyla's and Blaze's room and I immediately jumped out of Tharion's arms, quickly opening the door.
Since their room was similar to ours, the bed was on the upper floor. I ran up the stairs and refrained from screeching like a banshee once I saw Lyla holding the small bundle of joy.
"Hi aunty Kate." Lyla said and waved at me with her baby's hand.
I melted then and there.
"Hi precious." I cooed once I sat next to Lyla.
"Sorry for not answering. Lyla wanted it to be a surprise." Kayda said.
"I can see why." I said with a chuckle, looking at the wide eyed baby in Lyla's arms. "What's the baby's gender?" I asked.
They never asked the doctor about the gender because they wanted it to be a surprise.
"It's a boy." She said excitedly.
"And his name is Dezenym." Blaze added from behind me.
He was holding a cup of water which I'm assuming he went to grab for Lyla.
"Aw, it's perfect." I said and looked at Dezenym again.
Then I felt movement on my lap and when I looked down, I saw Scylla. She was looking curiously at Dezenym.
"Hi cutie." I said and hugged her.
She, in return, licked my face, making me chuckle.
"Uh Kate." Kayda said, her voice sounding weird.
"Yeah?" I said and looked at her.
"What's wrong with your scent? It's not the same." She said worriedly.
I looked at her in confusion and then moved my eyes on my mates. They were already looking at me and Draco was even sniffing me out.
"Now that you mentioned it, it is different. Did Niran or that witch do something to you?" Tharion asked and I could already see anger swimming in his eyes.
"No, they didn't. I don't-" Then I remembered something. "Oh..."
"Well that didn't sound good." Kayda said warily.
I tried to suppress a smile from stretching across my face.
"What is it?" Draco asked impatiently.
"I think you should sit down for this one." I said slowly.
"Katie." Tharion said with a glare and my resolve flew out the window, making me smile like a Cheshire cat.
I grabbed their hands, my eyes never leaving theirs.
"I'm pregnant."
...
