《MY Sweet Interlude》4-The Party is Over

Aliya is still trying to figure out how to respond over Yoongi's comment when Jungkook appeared grabbing her hand, as he pulls her towards the dancefloor. "I love this song, let's go dance." He said. She didn't have time to protest because he was walking too fast and she's having a hard time keeping up with him and her balance. She's grateful that she escaped the moment she was in earlier and Yoongi's prying eyes.
"Now can you please tell me why Taehyung literally dragged me to dance with you?" Jungkook whispered to Aliya as they got to the dance floor. She turned to look at her best friend who's now busy speaking with some guests who are leaving, with Jia next to him. He turned to her as if he knew she was looking and he gave her a smile before turning back his attention to the guests.
Aliya can only shake her head. "He didn't want me to be alone with Yoongi." She looked at Jungkook questioningly "Is he really that bad with women?" She asked.
Jungkook shrugged. "He is a nice person and a great friend. He is just not the dating kind who'd hold your hand and text you sweet messages. Besides, I know you've drank too much and I get why Taehyung thinks you shouldn't be left alone with him."
"I am not drunk for the nth time, and I know what I'm doing." Aliya said. She knew her alcohol tolerance is quite high although her friends loves to think otherwise. The last time they saw her drunk was when they threw a party for her when she finished high school. It wasn't a pretty sight to see because she was a complete mess, throwing up and having to be carried by Taehyung back at her mom's house. But after that, she had a lot of exposure to drinking alcohol when she was in college in the States.
"You seem to be asking a lot of questions about him, are you interested?" Jungkook teased giving her his bunny smile.
"No, of course not. I am curious because I don't know him that much and, I just got to talk with him more than I normally would tonight and then Taehyung comes and tells me to stay away from him." Aliya explained talking faster than she normally would.
"Why are you stuttering? Defensive much eh Aliya?" He snickered making Aliya hit his arm which she knew barely hurt him.
"I am not being defensive. He is your friend and I am just being nice because I don't want to judge anyone based on a hear say." Aliya replied getting flustered over Jungkook's laugh while she talked.

"Ok," Jungkook said lifting both of his hands up when he saw her getting frustrated at him. "Listen, Taehyung is just giving you an advice. I will be saying the same thing too because I've seen Yoongi with women a lot of times, I won't get into details just trust me when I say, be a friend to him tomorrow when you are sober not tonight when you're drunk."
Aliya stared at her friend for a long time. What he said seems sensible, he is about the same age as Taehyung and Jimin but his advise is most profound. She nodded as it made sense, ok so maybe she will not take that challenge anymore.
Going back to their table after the dance, they found Yoongi gone. So maybe the challenge he asked earlier is forgotten now, she thought with a sigh of relief and regret? Why would she feel regret over that? Shit, maybe she is drunk.
Nari and Namjoon sat next to her. "Where are the others?" Jungkook asked as he finished drinking a glass of water.
"Hoseok had to leave because he had to take Yoo-mi home she has work tomorrow. Jin and Jimin are outside with Jia's friends." Namjoon explained.
"They might need your help, specially Jin who looks so worried that his girlfriend might find out he is surrounded by women who are openly flirting at him." Nari told Jungkook with a chuckle.
The music changed to a popular love song and Namjoon was quick to ask Nari for a dance. When they left, Aliya turned to Jungkook. "You can go join Jimin out there, I'll be fine 'coz I'm going to call it a night."
He looked at her with concern in his eyes. "Are you sure you'll be fine?"
Aliya laughed. "My mom is still here in this room, I am going to her right now to let her know I am leaving, I am sure I will be fine."
"I'll come with you." He said standing up to pull her chair when she stood up.
"I am not that drunk that I need someone to hold me while walking JK."
He grinned. "I know, but I am really headed that way because I have to say goodnight to my parents."
Jungkook greeted his parents when they arrived at the table where Aliya's mom was earlier. Her mom's other friends were gone and so was her mother. Jimin's mom told her she had to take a call outside.
Aliya bumped into her mom not long after she said goodbye to Jungkook and Jimin's parents. "Honey, I'm so sorry but have to go because I've got an emergency call at the hospital. I don't know how long I'll be there so I might not be able to spend the night with you in the room. I already got my bags so you might be by yourself tonight. I'll probably just go home after. Will you be fine with that?" She works in a hospital closer to their home. She has to drive for at least forty minutes from where they are right now. When her daughter nodded and assured her she'll be fine, she smiled. "You need to sleep off the alcohol in your system. I know this day isn't very easy for you so I understand why you have to do it." She hugged her daughter. Aliya's just glad her mom is never the nagging type and she listens and accepts whatever she has to say.

Aliya and her mom, then hugged Taehyung's parents as they said their goodbyes. They reminded her that she will always be part of their family even if Taehyung was married now. She felt a heavy lump starting to build in her throat again. Her mom squeezed her hand to encourage her to stay strong. Aliya's mom left in a rush so she was left chatting with Taehyung's parents briefly before she was able to leave.
The bride and the groom were tied up as most of the guests started leaving. When Taehyung saw her, he asked. "Will you be ok by yourself? You're going straight to your room right?" He told her that he and Jia got to talk briefly with her mom because she's in a hurry.
Aliya did a salute at him, "Yes sir, don't worry." She replied. She then turned to Jia and hugged her wishing her the best before saying goodbye, walking out of the room without looking back.
She didn't feel like locking herself in the room just yet so she decided to go to the hotel's pool area first to get some air. By this time, it'll be quiet and a good place to think.
Just as she thought, there was nobody there. The alcohol helped dull her heartache but it's still there, she can still feel it. She looked up at the dark sky blanketed by the bright stars as she thought of how happy Taehyung looked tonight with Jia. She just had to let him go even if it isn't easy. She headed towards the veranda that overlooked the city, she took a deep breath in to calm herself. She closed her eyes but all she could see was Taehyung's face, it's not easy to let go just like that but she has to. Her shoulders slightly slumped in defeat because she knew she had to accept things as it is now.
The rustling sound of the bushes at the other side of the pool made Aliya open her eyes. Her eyes grew wide in surprise when she saw Yoongi walking towards her with his hands shoved inside his pockets. He pointed with his head at the fenced terrace and asked. "You're not thinking of jumping, are you?"
"Of course not." Aliya replied as she turned towards him. "How long have you been here?"
"A while. I left while you were dancing with JK." He explained. "Seems like everyone is trying to keep you away from me tonight and yet here we are, alone." Again, that one sided smirk appeared on his face.
She couldn't see his entire face clearly, but she could feel his eyes on her. "So why are you here?" She asked, not intimidated at all with this man that his friends kept on calling "not right" for her.
"I thought I wanted to get some air. What about you? Is the sight of your best friend and his wife too much for you already?" Yoongi asked in a soft mocking voice.
Aliya looked up at him sharply as he hit a sensitive spot. "No, I honestly think they make a very striking couple. They're a match made in heaven."
Yoongi gave a low chuckle. "Why does that sound so sarcastic and bitter?"
"Excuse me, but I am not being bitter or sarcastic." She retorted her voice getting a bit louder than usual. She caught herself and changed her tone. "The party was about to wrap up anyway."
"So, you're going home?" He asked. "I thought you accepted my invitation to my room." He moved closer as he spoke placing his hands on the iron railings on her both sides, trapping her. He is so close she could smell his cologne mixed with alcohol which she found intoxicating. Strange sensations started to stir inside her body specially when she met his eyes. "I don't mind if you're in love with your best friend. I still want you."

It has been often described as an unusual place by a good deal of people on the mainland. If they only would visit -why I am sure they'll soon have a change of heart, they may even come to find it a quaint sort of place, odd but in the same way a tattered old quilt can be both odd looking and warm, and especially soft. She holds onto questions feverishly tight, that one. Lights them up inside like a new type of fuel without the slightest worry of being burned. She knows... There is but a certain few who can look at a map and find nothing where I stand but the Atlantic Ocean.
