Stop. How can you judge someone you know nothing about? It's easy to listen to gossip and take it as fact, and to judge people without even thinking. We all do it, whether we realise or not. There's always another side to someone's story.

Next time you find yourself saying something about someone else that's negative or gossip, take a minute to think. How would you feel if someone was saying those things about you? What if there is another explanation to why someone did something, or said something?

While gossip can be harmless, it can ruin some people's confidence and happiness if the rumours about them are very negative. Be the person to stand up for someone if they are having rumours circulated about them, because you'd like someone to do that for you if you were the subject of gossip, right? It's all about treating people the way you'd like to be treated.

Sometimes we all have to put ourselves in other people's shoes and see life from their perspective.

So rule twenty two of surviving Teenagehood: don't be a [email protected] to people basically.
