《Foolish (TomHolland x Reader)》1| Faodail

It all started in kindergarten, when your mother was dropping you off to your first day of any type of schooling you've ever experienced. You were scared to take your hand away from your mother's because all you felt was nerves at that point. For a girl as young as you, you had never thought what it would be like to be away from your parents but here you were, clutching onto your mother's hand for her to not let go and cower away into the car. You watched as other kids, who seemed around your age, skip into the colourful school building that reminded you of a doll house you'd see in a toy store.
"I don't wanna go mommy", you whine, you baby hairs falling onto your forehead and tried blowing them away but failed miserably.
"You have to go sweetie", you mother coaxed with a chuckle as she kneeled down to help you brush off your baby hairs from you forehead. Her fingers pinched your cheek as you scrunched up your nose, showing your baby teeth and shaking your head even more. "C'mon, you'll make more friends!", she cheered but you weren't convinced.
Truth was, you didn't care if you made new friends or not. Before you and your family moved to Kingston, you were happy in America but moved a few weeks after meeting your friends in your neighbourhood there. The same friends you thought you'd spend the rest of your life with but your dreams were shattered when your father got a promotion and had to move to Kingston.
"But we'll move again and I won't get to see them again", you debated, clearly not in your right state of mind while your mother dipped her head down and laughed to herself.
"No sweetie, we're gonna stay here", she assured and your eyes sparkled and head perked up.

"Promise?", you asked, playing with a strand of your hair and your mother nodded, pinching your chin before standing up again. "But mommy, I don't wanna leave you", you whine, yet again finding another excuse to no go inside the obnoxiously colourful doll house of a school. Your mother took a deep breath before taking a few seconds to think about other ways to convince you to go to the preschool. She watched as you started eyeing the building, giving it the most adorable stink eyes she ever saw and could only crack a smile at you- her daughter. She was about to open her mouth to say that she would buy you something but another woman made her way beside you two.
"having trouble here?", the woman asked, her english accent obvious and her wispy red hair falling behind her shoulder. Your mother looked beside her to find the woman standing with a boy with brown hair around the same age as you and she offered the pair a smile.
"My daughter is refusing to go in there", you turn your head around when you hear your mother speaking to someone other than you, wondering who the unfamiliar red headed woman was. Your eyes then wander to the boy beside the unfamiliar woman. The little brunette boy was holding the woman's hand and you presumed that the woman was his mother. Your eyes locked with the brunette boy's and he cracked you a smile before waving and mouthing a 'hi'. You do the same.
"Awe, I'm sure it's gonna be alright", the woman says and your mother laughs along with her. "Maybe Thomas could help her around?", she offered and you assumed that this 'Thomas' was the brunette boy she was holding hands with.
"Yeah, (Y/N), you wanna introduce yourself?", your mother cooed and you could only shy away and hide behind her legs but failed miserable.

"I'm (Y/N)", you whisper and the woman nods her head.
"Thomas, introduce yourself", she tugs her son forward and he crosses his arms.
"Mum, call me Tom not Thomas", he huffed and you couldn't help but cover your mouth and chuckle at Tom. "Hi, (Y/N)", he then waves and takes a few steps to stand beside you.
"See, now you made a friend", the woman turned to you and you shy her a smile and a nod.
"C'mon, I'll take you inside", Tom offered and you nodded, letting him take a hold of your hand and pull you away from your mother.
"Bye mom!", you yell before Tom pulled you into the building and you were out of sight from the two mothers outside the buildings.
"I'm Nikki by the way", the red headed woman tells your mother and she smiled.
"I'm (Y/M/N)", she told her and they shook hands before exchanging numbers. The two mothers sat outside the school on a nearby bench, talking about their lives just like the cliché kind of parents who eventually become friends. They talked about how you and your family moved from America to Kingston and Nikki told your mother about her life with Tom and two other baby twins that were at home with her husband, Dominic- 'Dom' for short. The two were getting to know each other just like how you and Tom were getting to know each other in kindergarten.
It want long before your mother invited Nikki over for tea at your house and they decided that they'd come and pick you and Tom up together later. They sat on the couch, Nikki sipping on tea while your mother sipped on coffee and your father joined in soon later. The three adults started watching TV and Nikki suggested for you and your family to come over to her house for dinner later in the week so she could introduce her husband and her baby twins. Your parents accepted the invite, happy that the Hollands were going to be their first friend in their move to Kingston.
"I think (Y/N) and Tom are going to become very good friends", Nikki says with a smile, imagining how the two children would grow up together and eventually go to the same school and university and peruse the same jobs later on and maybe even move out of the country together. Everyone may think that Nikki was thinking way ahead of herself, but the thought was refreshing.
"I think so too", you mother said truthfully while your father agreed, lifting his cup of coffee for a toast. All the three could think of was the felicity they were feeling about the thought of their families getting closer.
