《Saving Gracie | ✓》Chapter Eleven: Would They Mind If I Throw Up In Here?

It's been a week since Luke and I kissed - well, actually we had a really intense make out session - and my mind has been going crazy about Luke and it's like all the worries I have go away when I'm with him and me being in the situation I am, it really helps.
Right now, I am currently sitting on the couch texting Luke about a party be wants me to go to tonight but I keep telling him that I don't want to go.
I place my phone on the couch and walk over to the kitchen to grab something to eat. I open the fridge and take out a chocolate bar, walking back to the couch.
Before I sit down though, I notice a pair of bright lights appear in the front of the house and I walk towards the window and look outside to see my father's truck. I frown in confusion but go to the door anyway.
When I open the door, instead of seeing my father get out, I notice that someone is with him. It appears to be a woman and my heart sinks.
"Don't worry." I assure myself and I let out a sigh and walk back into the house, leaving the door open. I sit on the couch and pretend to watch the television even though the show is boring. My father walks through the door and he smiles at me.
"Hello, Grace." My father greets and I just send him a wave and glue my eyes to the screen. My father walks into the kitchen and opens a bottle of beer and stands in front of the television, grabbing my attention.
"Yes?" I ask and I notice the girl walk in. She places her hand bag on the table and makes her way over to my father, standing beside him.
"Grace, I would like you to meet Eve." My father says and I look at the girl who seems to be smiling at me.
"Hello, Grace. Your father has told me so much about you." Eve says and I nod.
"I'm sure he has." I say before looking back at my father.

"So, is she that girl from your work?" I ask and my father nods happily. I frown makes its way onto my face and I narrow my eyes at him. As if he knew where this was going, he asked Eve to go to the next room so we can have a conversation, just me and him.
When Eve leaves, I look at my father with a frown.
"Why is she here?" I ask and my father's smile grows.
"She is my girlfriend, Grace." I hear my father say and my heart clenches in pain but instead of sitting there and nodding like my father predicts, I stand up in rage.
"Your girlfriend? It's hasn't even been a month and your already moving on from your wife? How dare you do this to her." I growl and my father steps back in shock.
"Grace, listen-"
"No, you listen! You think it's okay for you to cheat on mom all this time and think that everything is still okay? You basically broke this family apart and made mom think you were just working over time to get paid but little did I know, you were cheating on her!" I scream, tears forming in my eyes. My father's eyes widen and before he can say anything, I raise my hand and slap him.
"You're a pig!" I scream before walking up the stairs and into my room. I pull out my phone from my pocket and dial Luke.
"Hey-"
"Pick me up, now."

"You look amazing." Luke says as I enter his car and I roll my eyes.
"Jeans and a top, Luke." I say and Luke sends me a glare.
"What have we talked about? Stop bringing yourself down." Luke says and I roll my eyes again. When Luke doesn't start the car, I turn to him and narrow my eyes at him.
"Why aren't we going?" I ask and Luke frowns at me.
"Why are you upset?" Luke asks and I shake my head.
"Honestly, I don't want to talk about it." I say and Luke nods and starts the car before driving off. I sink in my seat and let the breeze enter the car as I roll the window down a little.

"I'm scared." I say, sitting in the car as I look at the large house beside me. There are people dancing around in the front yard and from what I can see, people are even climbing out of the window to do whatever on the roof. Red cups cover the lawn and loud music from inside makes the floor vibrate and only being thirty metres away from the house, I can even feel the vibrations.
"Grace, you'll be fine." Luke says, placing his hand on mine and I look over to him.
"From what I can already see, I will not be fine." I say quietly and Luke frowns.
"Those people are a bunch of idiots. They will probably be too drunk to even recognise you." Luke says, a small smile on his lips like he is trying to make me not worry so much but a certain person appears in my head and I frown at Luke.
"What about Nicole?" I ask and Luke sighs.
"I already told you she won't be here. Look, I'll be by your side the whole time if that makes you feel better." Luke smiles and I smile back at him.
"That actually makes me feel a lot better." I say and Luke nods, the smile still on his lips. He gets out of the car and I take two seconds to breathe before stepping out as well. Luke meets me by my side and sends me one last comforting smile before walking towards the large house.
"You don't drink, do you?" Luke asks as we make our way to the kitchen. He grabs out a beer from the fridge before turning to me. I look at the shot glass in front of me and shrug.
"My dad did make me try some of his beer but it was absolutely disgusting." I say and Luke chuckles. He grabs the shot glass and takes a small sip of it before nodding.
"This is only vodka. Try some if you want." Luke says, pushing the shot glass to me and I look at the alcohol before picking up the glass and drinking it slowly. Almost immediately, I feel the urge to throw up and I think Luke notices and he grabs my hand and pulls me around the counter before standing over the sink.
"Would they mind if I throw up in here." I mumble and Luke shakes his head.
"No, just go ahead." Luke says and as I remember the taste, I feel all my insides rise up into my throat and I lunge forward, holding the edge of the counter. Luke rubs my back and moves my hair away from the sides of my face.
Once I finally stop, he grabs some paper towel and hands it to me. I thank him and wipe my mouth, throwing it in the bin. Luke holds my shoulders and looks down at me in concern.
"You probably shouldn't drink that again. Maybe water or coke?" He suggests and all of sudden, the thoughts of Eve and my father appear in my mind and I shake my head.
"No, let me try again." I say and Luke furrows his eyebrows.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes." I say, walking over to the counter. Luke pours some of the vodka into the same shot glass, pouring it up to halfway. He pushes it to me and I take in a deep breath before drinking it again but faster this time. My throat burns at the taste but I shake it away, trying to focus on something other than the taste.
"How do you feel?" Luke asks, narrowing his eyes at me in a concerning way and as if to test me, the images of Eve and my father laughing on the couch appears in my mind and I grit my teeth.
"More."
"What? Are-"
"I'll do it myself then." I say, snatching the bottle out of his hand as I pour some more into the glass but this time, I fill it up to the top and I place the bottle down beside me.
"Stupid dad." I mutter before drinking the alcohol fast.
