Astrid woke up and sighed loudly, stretching her arms and legs. She got up and saw Kol sitting on her bed as he stared at her with a smile.
"What the..." She shouted as she saw him, making him smile wider.
"Didn't mean to scare you, 'trid" he laughed at her reaction so she kicked him off the bed. "Hey!" He shouted, still laughing.
"Asshole" she laughed with him and got off her bed, going to the bathroom. She brushed her teeth and put on black jeans and a white shirt. She walked out of the bathroom and went downstairs to the kitchen, grabbing a blood bag from the fridge.
"I don't understand how you can live off of those blood bags." He said, licking his bloody fingers. She looked behind him and saw a blonde woman laying on the floor.
"Ugh... my carpet!" She shouted as she saw the blood on her white, expensive carpet.
"Sorry" he smiled innocently. She opened the blood bag and drank the blood from the bag.
"How long are you planning on staying?" She asked and he raised an eyebrow. She threw the bag away when she finished drinking.
"Trying to get rid of me already?" He fake gasped and put his hand on his chest "I feel hurt".
"No... but if you're planning on staying for a long time then we need to make some rules." She replied.
"Okay! I won't kill your friends... you know. The ginger girl, hunters, human, sheriff and the werewolves." Kol said "I've been stalking you. Sorry" he laughed and Astrid rolled her eyes.
"You're not killing the vet either. Also, they don't know what we are, except for the vet, so do not let the secret spill. I've been keeping it hidden really well. Also, they think I'm called Astrid Manson" she said, sending him a glare.
"You changed your surname?" he laughed and sat next to the blonde, putting his fingers in her blood and then licking them. "Delicious little thing".
"Yes i changed it. We have a lot of enemies i dont want them here...Do you know how hard it is to clean the carpet from blood?" She asked, annoyed at her big brother.
"Yup!" He laughed "I just like annoying you" he said as Astrid gave him an annoyed look. "Don't give me that look!" He exclaimed and chuckled.
"God... I forgot how annoying all of you are" she joked as she sped towards her couch, pouring herself and her brother whiskey. She drank it and pushed the other glass towards Kol. He drank the whiskey and smiled at his little sister.
"Alcohol... The answer for everything" Kol laughed and poured himself some more whiskey. "So how old do they think you are?"
"17" she answered as Kol drank the alcohol.
Her phone then rang and she picked up.
"Hey, scott" she smiled.
"I'm going with Allison to her grandfather. I want you to come with me" Scott said.
"Okay, give me the address and I'll meet you there, love"
Scott gave her the address and hung up the phone.
"You like him!" Kol exclaimed, smiling at his sister.

"Shut it" she said as Kol smiled widely. "I'll come back later, love you, bye!" She waved as she left the mansion, heading to the address Scott have her.
"I love you too" Kol murmured after Astrid left the room.
-------
"They found a dead body?" The old man asked as black blood exited his nose.
"Another doctor, right after Scott found Deaton" Allison answered.
"Right after?" Gerard, Allison's grandfather asked. Astrid stood next to Scott, glaring suspiciously at the old man. "Almost like it was suspected he'd survive"
"What's that supposed to mean?" Scott asked.
"How do you know your dark druid isn't your wise veterinarian himself? Maybe he knew you'd find him. Maybe he planned it that way."
"He would never let anyone innocent die."
"Don't be so sure. You'd be surprised how far some people would go to get rid of someone like Deucalion."
"Or someone like you?" Allison asked.
Gerard laughed "I don't go easily, though, do I?" Gerard spat on his tissue. "You know, scott, you've made me something of a celebrity here. I'm a medical mystery. The cancer is now virtually undetectable, but the doctors have no clue why my body keeps producing and ejecting bizarre black fluid."
"That's disgusting" Astrid muttered and looked disgusted at the black blood. For the first time in forever, she felt disgust as she looked at blood.
"I did what you wanted me to do." Scott answered. "Tell us how to beat him."
Gerard scoffed "You can't. I've tried."
"Then this is a complete waste of time" Allison added. "He doesn't know anything. Sorry you did this. Let's go." Allison walked towards the door.
"Wait." Gerard interrupted. "I can tell you one thing. Deucalion may have lost his eyes, but he's not always blind" Gerard said as everyone looked at him with confused expressions.
"Well that's just bloody great" Astrid rolled her eyes.
------
"They were all there, Ennis, Kali, Deucalion" Gerard spoke "each with their own packs, before they'd killed them all and decided to form their little all-star team."
"But they didn't all live here, did they?" Allison asked. The three teenagers sat on brown chairs in front of Gerard, listening to his story.
"No, but there was an exceptionally powerful alpha who did live here. She had a capacity to shape-shift that was rare among her kind. That made her something of a leader, the kind of person that they would go to for advice and guidance." Gerard spoke.
"You know that there are also other werewolf species, right? There are many who can shape-shift" Astrid spoke.
"What do you mean?" Allison asked.
"It's uh... a different species of werewolves. They have to be born into the werewolf bloodline but not all become full werewolves" she explained.
"How does that work?" Scott asked.
"In order to break the curse, they have to kill, even if it is an accident. Unlike us, they cannot control their shift during the full moon. All of their bones break as they shift. And when they do, they kill anyone in their way, except for their pack. It truly is a curse" she said, looking at Scott.

"And how do you know about that species?" Gerard asked.
"I travelled a lot... Let's get back to your story now, shall we?" She said, eyeing the old mad as he began speaking again.
"Talia Hale" Gerard said. He then proceeded to tell them about the Nemeton. A tree, usually old which had a Celtic symbol on it.
"How does he know all about Celtic symbols and druids?" Allison asked.
"Know the enemy, Allison" Gerard said. "The older wolves has a relationship with the Druids. They called them emissaries."
"Like my boss, Deaton" Scott stated.
Gerard got up "Do you know the myth of Lycaon?" Gerard asked and opened a book. The three walked towards him, standing behind him.
"I know it's where we get the word Lycanthropy." Scott answered.
"According to myths, some Greek citizens believed they owed their lives to Prometheus." Gerard spoke, looking at the teenagers. "Than to the God of Olympus. And some followers even took names to honour the titans instead of the Gods."
"Like Deucalion" Astrid sighed.
"The son of Prometheus" Gerard said "Lycaon didn't just refuse to honour the Gods. He challenged them" Gerard flipped the pages of the thick book "he invited Zeus to a banquet and then tried to serve him the flesh of a human being. Angered, Zeus blew the place apart with lightning bolts and then punished Lycaon and his sons by turning them into wolves. The part that's lesser known is how Lycaon sought out the Druids to help turn him back to human."
"Why druids?" Scott asked.
"The belief was that the ancient Druids knew how to shape-shift" Gerard explained "They couldn't make Lycaon and his sons human again, but they did teach them how to shift back and forth. And so the Druids became important advisors to the packs." Gerard looked back at the three teenagers.
-------
"I wasn't really surprised when Deaton came" Gerard said, sitting down on his wheelchair as the three teenagers were now sat down as well. "To arrange a meeting with Deucalion." He wiped the black fluid off his face. "As William Blake said, any sinister person who means to be your enemy always starts by trying to become your friend."
"How do you know he wasn't going there to make peace?" Scott asked.
"Because I'm not an Idiot" Gerard answered. "Do you know the Sanskrit of the scorpion and the turtle?" Gerard asked.
"The scorpion asks the turtle for a ride across the river" Scott said.
"And when the scorpion stings the turtle, dooming them both, what does he say to explain his behaviour?" Gerard asked.
"It's my nature" Astrid sighs, leaning back on her chair.
"I know a werewolf's nature. I knew exactly what was coming." Gerard spoke. "A trap".
------
"They attacked you?" Allison asked.
"It was an ambush." Gerard replied. Telling them how he killed some of Deucalion's pack members.
Deucalion crawled outside of the building and Gerard stabbed his eyes with two arrows, blinding him. Deucalion screamed, blood on his face as he laid on the ground and Gerard walked away.
------
"I'm sorry. The eyes will heal physically. But your sight is..." Deaton spoke softly. Looking at Deucalion as Talia stood next to him. Deucalion's pack member near him.
Deucalion screamed and leaned down on the metal table in the clinic. He panted "leave me alone".
Talia and Deaton left, whereas the pack member stayed, staring at his alpha.
"Marco, I said leave me alone" Deucalion said, standing back up.
"You are alone." Marco responded and punched Deucalion.
Deucalion's eyes turned bright red and he could now see Marco standing in front of him, about to hit him once again. Deucalion jumped at him and killed him on the metal table.
------
"He sees as a wolf?" Scott asked.
"He's not always blind" Gerard repeated.
"Maybe we can use it against him" Allison suggested. Scott nodded and the three stood up.
"Scott" Gerard said, lifting up his sleeve. Scott grabbed his arm and took away his pain. "Oh, God, I think about you sometimes, Scott. I do. I wonder, what if I'd done things differently? Getting the bite to cure my cancer" Astrid smiled, knowing that she could turn him, saving him. But she would never do it. "And I wonder when it became my nature to believe most things couldn't be asked for but had to be taken." Gerard shrugged.
"I don't believe you" Scott said "the whole time that you were telling the story, I was listening to your heartbeat. It never went up. It never went down. It was steady the whole time."
"Because I was telling the truth"
"Or because you're a really good liar." Scott grabbed his hand tightly "if you lied and it gets people hurt, I'll be back to take away more than your pain" Scott threatened and let go of his hand as they headed towards the door. They left the building and parted ways with Allison. When she was out of sight, Astrid grabbed his hand tightly.
"It's going to be Okay, scott" she smiled at him and he smiled back.
"I hope so" he replied and stopped in the dark, deserted street. She stopped and looked at him confused. He smashed his lips on her, surprising the vampire. The kiss was sweet and loving. When they pulled away, Astrid looked at him with a huge grin.
"What was that for?" She asked, still smiling like a kid who received a toy.
"For being here for me" he replied.
She smiled and looked at the clock, it was 1am.
"I have to go... before my brother destroys my whole house" she sighs.
"You have a brother?" He asked.
"Four. Well, five but one died when he was thirteen. And I have a sister" she smiled at the boy.
"I'm sorry about your brother"
"Don't be. It was a long time ago, love. I might tell you about them one day. The one staying with me is one year older and he's called Kol. I'll make sure you guys meet him before he vanishes again." She smiled and he smiled back at her. "Goodnight, scott" she said as she pecked his lips, heading back home.
