《The Monster Inside ➺ Scott. M》Chapter 24

Astrid woke up to the sound of her phone ringing.
"Hello?" She said in a hoarse voice.
"Hello sister." She heard Elijah say.
"Elijah?" Astrid yawned.
"Sorry for waking you. Niklaus told me to check up on you. Apparently you told him to not call you until he's done with the cure." Her brother said.
"Yeah... something along those lines" Astrid replied, her eyes still closed.
"What are you doing right now?"
"Laying in bed with..." she touched the other side of the bed but it was empty. "Well, I was laying with a handsome brunette. I can't remember his name." She confessed and heard her brother sigh. "Don't worry, I didn't eat anyone... yet"
"Are you done yet?" Astrid heard Katherine say.
"Is that Katrina?" Astrid asked her brother.
"Yes."
"Give her the phone, please."
"What?" Katerina asked.
"How is my favourite doppelganger?" Astrid asked the vampire.
"Favourite? Since when am I your favourite? I thought it was Elena."
"Well, I never liked Tatia and Elena and her stupid brother killed Kol so she's now in last place. And you have moved from second to first place." Astrid laughed. "Alright. I have to go. Good bye, katerina, Elijah" Astrid said as she ended the call.
She lazily got up from her bed and put on some nice clothes. She put on a black mini-skirt, a white t-shirt which showed her cleavage and white shoes. She put her hair up in a pony tail and picked up her school bag, deciding to go to school today. She went downstairs, smiling. When she arrived in the living room, she saw a note on the table.
Thank you for last night, it was amazing.
-Caleb Rivers
"So that was his name" she said to herself as she threw the note in the bin. She walked into the kitchen and took a blood bag out of the fridge. She drank the blood threw the bag in the bin next to her. "I'm getting bored of those blood bags... maybe I should start drinking something more... fresh" she chuckled to herself.
She got out of the house and got in her car, driving to the high school.
----------
She walked inside, smiling innocently at everyone. Most boys and even some girls were staring at her hungrily as she walked through the hallway.
Astrid chuckled to herself as she walked to her locker, everyone staring at her.
The bell rang and everyone got to their classes. Astrid leaned on her locker until the hallway was empty.
She walked inside coach's classroom late, everyone staring at her as she opened the door.
"Astrid... you're late." Coach said, already annoyed as his students were playing pranks on his. It was mischief night.
"I know" Astrid replied and sat down behind Scott.
"You think it's funny every Halloween my house gets egged?" Coach asked his students as most of them laughed. "A man's house is supposed to be his castle. Mine's a fricking omelet." Coach grabbed a present which was on his desk. "Oh, this? We're gonna do this again?" He threw it on the ground and stepped on it, shattering what was inside. He crouched down and picked up the shattered cup which said #1 Coach. He then picked up a letter and began reading it. "Happy birthday. Love, Greenberg."
"Well done, coach" Astrid snorted.
------------
"The William Barrow? The shrapnel bomber? Spotted nearby?" Stiles asked his father as they walked through the school hallway.
"A little closer than nearby, actually." Sheriff told his son.

-------------
"How do we get down to the basement?" Scott's dad asked one of the teachers. "I need to know where every entrance is. I don't want anybody coming in or out of the school."
-----------
"Barrow went after kids with glowing eyes? He said those exact words?" Isaac asked Stiles.
"Yeah. And no one knows how he woke up from anaesthesia." Stiles replied. "Just that when they opened him up, they found a tumor full of live flies, which in any other circumstance would be all kinds of awesome."
"That's quite disgusting" Astrid said, walking in front of Stiles, Isaac, Allison and Lydia, blocking their path.
"Astrid." Lydia said quietly.
"Hello, Lydia. How about we find that guy?" She suggested and they nodded.
"Wait, Stiles. Did you say flies?" Lydia asked.
"He did, Lydia. Is something wrong?" Astrid asked the redhead.
"All day I have been hearing this sound. It's like... this buzzing."
"Like the sound of flies?" Allison asked, walking closer to her friend.
"Exactly like the sound of flies." Lydia replied.
--------
Astrid, Lydia and Stiles ran towards Scott, well, Astrid walked. Not bothering to run. She walked in front of Scott and smiled at him, not looking into his eyes.
"The police are leaving" Lydia panted. "Why are they leaving?"
"The police?" Scott asked.
"They must have cleared the building and grounds, which means he's not here." Stiles said.
"Who? What are you guys..." Scott asked confused.
"He has to be here" Lydia told Stiles. "That sound... the buzzing I've been hearing? It's getting louder."
"How loud?" Stiles asked.
"Very loud"
Stiles then turned around, running away to find his dad. Lydia followed him.
"Are... are you Okay?" Scott asked Astrid.
"Seriously?" Astrid said, exhaling sharply. "First, my brother bloody dies. Then, Enzo stabs me. Lastly, you break up with me because of who I am. So... how do you think I'm feeling, Scott?" Astrid asked, her eyes turning bright yellow as black veins emerged under her eyes.
"Calm down..." Scott grabbed her shoulders, trying to calm the vampire down.
"Do not tell me to calm down, Scott" Astrid growled at Scott and the lights above them started flickering. Astrid stormed off, scared that she might hurt the teenager.
---------
Astrid walked through the hallways, turning her face back to normal as she sighed loudly.
"Are you Okay?" A boy asked her as he walked towards her.
"Yeah, I'm fine, thanks" she smiled sweetly at the boy. "Would you like to keep me company?" She winked at the boy and he nodded with a smile. She took his hand in hers and walked towards the English office, checking if anyone was inside. She pushed him roughly against the wall and kissed his soft lips.
He smiled as he sat her on the desk, kissing her neck and holding her hips.
Astrid stood back up and pushed him against the wall again. "You will not scream or try to run away." She compelled the boy as she showed him her vampire face. The boy looked shocked, his eyes opening wide.
Astrid kissed his neck and then dug her teeth into his neck, drinking his warm and fresh blood. Astrid smiled as she drank and heard the boy moan quietky.
She was so focused on thinking from the boy, she didn't hear Scott and his pack enter the room. All of the except for Allison were there, watching her feed.
Scott cleared his throat and Astrid pulled away. She looked at Scott, blood dripping from the corners of her mouth. She licked her lips, licking the blood off.

Stiles looked at her with wide eyes. "Don't look at me like that, I was hungry" she explained and then bit her wrist. She brought her wrist to the boy's mouth, making him drink her blood. The wound on his neck instantly healed.
"How did you do that?" Isaac asked.
"Vampire blood heals" she winked at Isaac and then looked back at the boy. "You will go back to what you were doing before and you will forget this ever happened." Astrid compelled the boy.
"What am I doing here?" The boy asked, chuckling. "Sorry, I have to get back to work. See you around!" He said as he left the room.
"Compulsion?" Lydia asked and Astrid nodded, smiling.
----------
Astrid stopped looking for Barrow when she heard the fire alarm ring. She ran back from the boiler room to the hallway. She ran outside and spotted Lydia and Stiles near the bench. She ran towards them and soon Scott joined with the alpha twins.
"We didn't find anything" Aiden said.
"Neither did I" Astrid added.
"Not even a scent" Scott sighed.
"It's 3:00 so school's over. If there was a bomb, wouldn't he have set it off by now?" Stiles asked.
"Does that mean everybody's safe?" Ethan asked. Isaac was now standing next to Ethan.
"I don't know" Lydia replied. "I just... I don't know."
"Great" Astrid sighed.
"Astrid... you're old. Have you ever dealt with a serial killer? Do you know where he could hide?" Stiles asked.
"Stiles... me and my brothers were usually the serial killers and everyone has different hiding places. So yes and no. We really didn't care whether humans killed each other or not. Oh and Scott, I would suggest not going anywhere near Niklaus if he ever comes back to this town."
"Why?" Isaac asked for Scott.
"I'm his favourite sibling" she answered "He's an over protective older brother so he will hate you for breaking up with me. He will most likely kill you and your family. Of course, I'll try to stop him but I might not succeed." Astrid told the teenagers. "That goes for all of you by the way. Not just Scott."
"So he'll just kill us? He won't feel guilty later on? For killing innocent people" Stiles asked.
"Stiles, love, he's a psychopath just like most of my family... He really won't care whether you're an innocent person or if you're the worst human on the planet."
---------
Astrid sat in Stiles' room with Lydia and Stiles. Watching him add a red string to his wall full of pictures of criminals.
"What do the different coloured strings mean?" Lydia asked.
"Oh! I know" Astrid said happily. "They're the different stages of the investigation... green means solved, and yellow is to be determined, red is unsolved and I have no idea what the blue is for" Astrid told Lydia.
"The blue is just pretty" Stiles told the two.
"You only have red on the board" Lydia pointed out.
"Yes, I'm aware. Thank you." Stiles said, hands on his hips.
"Did you get detention for pulling the alarm?" Lydia asked.
"You pulled the alarm!" Astrid said surprised.
"Yes I did pull the alarm. And also yes. Everyday this week. It's Okay, though. We were onto something." Stiles replied, looking at his board.
"Even though we couldn't find any proof of Barrow being there?" Lydia asked, playing with the red string.
Stiles turned around and looked at her sadly. "Hey, lydia" Stiles said as he walked towards the redhead. "You've been right every time something like this has happened, Okay? So don't start doubting yourself now."
"No scent. No bomb." Lydia said.
"Just because we didn't find him, doesn't mean he wasn't there. Maybe we were looking in the wrong place" Astrid told the banshee.
"Exactly... look, Barrow was there, alright? You knew it, you felt it, Okay?" Stiles added, playing with the string on Lydia's finger. "And look, if you wanted to, I'd go back to that school right now and search all night just to prove it."
Stiles smelt a green marker and got up. "Get up, get up now. We're going to the school." Stiles told the two.
--------
Astrid, Lydia and Stiles entered the chemistry classroom.
"So what are we looking for?" Lydia asked Stiles. "That was supposed to be locked." Lydia said as Stiles entered the chemical storage.
"Yeah, I know." Stiles replied. "Notice anything else?"
"It smells like chemicals" Lydia replied. "They wouldn't have been able to catch his scent."
Stiles used a flashlight on his phone to look at the chemicals. Looking for something. He turned around and saw splatters of blood on the floor. "He was here..." Stiles said. "Performing a very minor surgery on himself. You were right."
"Then why don't I feel good about this," Lydia asked.
"Probably because he was here to kill somebody" Stiles suggested.
"Now we have to figure out who he was going to kill" Astrid said.
Stiles left the chemical storage room and started looking for something in the chemistry classroom.
"What are you looking for?" Astrid asked.
"Lets spread out" Stiles said. "Start looking for... anything."
The three searched the classroom, looking for anything that would help them find out who Barrow was trying to kill.
"Is that supposed to be there?" Astrid pointed at the chalk board which had atomic numbers on it.
"Probably not" lydia said and the three walked towards the board.
"Is it a formula?" Stiles asked as the three stared at the numbers.
"Nope." Astrid replied.
"19's potassium, 53's iodine, 88's radium." Lydia said.
"The first two make potassium iodide..." Astrid said quietly, wondering what the numbers could mean.
Lydia put a 'K' next to the first number.
"Potassium is K?" Stiles asked.
"Yes. Don't you listen in chemistry?" Astrid questioned.
"It's from Kalium, the scientific neo-latin name." Lydia told Stiles.
Lydia then put 'I' next to the second number.
"What's radium?" Stiles asked.
"Ra" Astrid told Stiles and Lydia wrote that next to the number.
"Kira" Stiles said quietly.
"I knew she wasn't a human." Astrid muttered and the two looked at her confused. "She has a different smell. I just can't work out what she is. I'm sure I've met one of her kind before."
---------
Astrid, Lydia and Stiles ran to Kira's house. Astrid wasn't sure how Stiles knew where she lived but she didn't question it.
They saw Scott laying on the ground next to his motorbike.
"Scott?" Stiles shouted, trying to wake Scott up.
Scott slowly opened his eyes and looked at the three. He gasped and sat up.
"Barrow, he took Kira!" Scott panicked.
"We know" Astrid replied.
"He was after her the whole time" Stiles added.
"We have to think of something. He's going to kill her" Scott said, standing up from the ground.
"I knew he was there. How did I know that?" Lydia asked.
"Because you heard the flies, right?" Stiles said.
"Do you hear anything now?" Astrid asked Lydia.
"Nothing." Lydia replied. "I feel like I can do this. But I don't know what to do. It's like it's on the tip of my tongue but I don't know how to trigger it. I just... I swear it literally makes me want to scream."
"Then scream Lydia." Astrid said calmly and then stood in front of her friend. She showed her werewolf and vampire face combined "Scream!" She shouted at her friend and growled.
Lydia screamed loudly. The high-pitched sound made Astrid and the two men cover their ears, Astrid's face turning back to normal.
"Bloody hell" Astrid muttered and then looked back at Lydia. "Do you... do you hear anything now?"
"Its not flies." Lydia said as she looked at the street lamp. "Its electricity."
"Wait a second, Barrow was an electrical engineer. He worked at a power substation." Stiles said.
"What substation?" Scott asked.
----------
The four arrived at a power substation where Barrow has worked before.
"Okay, wait here, alright? Just wait for the cops to come" Stiles told Lydia as he left the Jeep. Scott already rushed inside.
"Me? Wait, Why?" Lydia asked Stiles.
"I only got one bat" Stiles said as he ran inside the building.
"I'll wait with you, Lydia" Astrid smiled at her friend.
--------------
Isaac stood alone in Allison's room when all power in the town went off. He began looking around when he saw a black figure walking around.
They black figures circled him. They were dressed in black and also had black masks on.
Isaac began screaming and trying to protect himself as one of them put its hand behind Isaac's ear and then disappeared. Isaac fainted right after They were gone.
