《The Monster Inside ➺ Scott. M》Chapter 43

Placing his bags filled with clothes into his car, Scott sighed loudly. While being back in Beacon Hills made him happier than ever, every time he looked at his mother, he felt scared. He wanted to tell her what happened. What he became. Yet every time he tried, he decided not to, he didn't want to lose her. She still thinks he's just a werewolf.
With another loud sigh, he got into his car, the banshee and kitsune already sitting in the back seats. He started the engine and drove. He felt guilt for not telling his mother the truth, yet he felt relieved to leave beacon hills, he won't have to lie while looking into his mother's eyes for a while.
Of course, thats what he hoped. And everything was going well until his mother called, 2 hours after they left.
"Scott?" His mother said over the phone, her voice cracking.
"Mom? What's wrong?" Scott questioned, stopping the car on the side of the road.
"Scott, he-"
"Hello, Scott" suddenly a deep, male voice said. "Someone once told me 'if you want to really hurt an original, hurt someone they really care about'" the man chuckled "and then I found out about you and what you became... so I thought, since I definitely won't succeed at capturing her siblings, why not capture you. However, by the time I arrived... you were gone. So, instead, I captured the ones you care about. Your mother, that overly-energetic boy, the werecoyote, Chris Argent, the kitsune's parents, Derek Hale, and of course, deaton. I must admit, it was challenging to capture them all."
"Where are you?" Scott said thought gritted teeth, regretting leaving the small town.
"Hmm... Why would I tell you that?" The man chuckled.
"We're at the bank where Deaucalion kept Boyle and Cora!" He heard Stiles shout in the background.
"That kid... is annoying." The man growled, ending the call.
With a shocked and concerned face, Scott put his phone down on the car seat next to him. "Scott? Are you okay?" Kira asked with concern in her voice, leaning forwards.
"We have to go back!" Scott said quickly, turning the car around and driving back to Beacon Hills as fast as he could.
"Scott!" Lydia yelled, holding onto kira as the hybrid sped through the almost empty street. "Slow down!"

After explaining everything to Lydia and kira, Scott finally arrived in Beacon Hills. He entered his house in rage, finding it hard to control his hightened emotions. Normally, Astrid would be here to help him calm down, but right now... He had to manage his emotions by himself. It was harder when the blonde tribrid wasn't there... his friends didn't know what he was going through.
He grabbed the wall tightly, bending it slightly with his hands as he breathed heavily.
"Scott?" Lydia said in a gentle voice, walking closer to her friend "We're going to get them back. Calm down" Lydia tried comforting him.
The ginger girl took a step back when Scott looked at her; eyes red like blood, dark veins under his eyes, his canines long and massive claws digging holes in the wall. The two girls were ready to run; ready to escape from the potential threat.

Just as he was about to lose control and attack his friends; Astrid's voice echoed in his head.
Scott sat with Astrid, it has been a few days since he turned into a hybrid; hunger always trying to take control of his actions.
Astrid gently took his hand in her own, smiling at him gently. "Look around" she said in a quiet tone, knowing that his senses were still on an overdrive. "When I turned into... this," she began "I used to lose control a lot. My brother was usually there to support me, but when he wasn't there, I sat in a quiet place - usually a forest" she smiled to herself, a smile wider than he's ever seen before. It seemed contagious as soon he also smiled. "I used to sit in silence, listen to the birds sing, wind moving the leaves." She chuckled. "It's also how I managed to control my senses. I tried focusing on something far away; preferably an animal. I listened to it, and only it. It was... peaceful. The kind of peace I haven't experienced in centuries." She said with a small smile.
"Why are you telling me this?" Scott asked. He was happy that she told him this yet he didn't know why.
"You need a strong anchor, Scott." Astrid told him "now more than ever. You're not just a werewolf anymore. Your senses are more stimulated than ever before. I won't always be there to stop you from hurting someone." She told him with a serious expression.
He inhaled sharply, afraid of the day she won't be there to stop him from doing something truly awful. "What's your anchor?" He asked her with a curious look.
"Niklaus, places like this... peaceful places." Astrid told him. "It used to be Kol as well. Not anymore. He's dead and whenever I think about him, it only makes me want to kill someone." She said, tears forming in her eyes at the thought of her dead brother. "You see, when we were younger, we had fights very often. Nik, Kol and I. When I had a massive fight with Kol, I used Nik as my anchor. Yet when I had a fight with Nik, my anchor was Kol. I was always closer to them than the rest of my siblings." She said with a slight smile.
"What if..." Scott spoke "... What if you had a fight with them both?" He questioned.
"That happened very often, too" she chuckled. "It was usually about Kol wanting to leave, to be free from Nik. He's very controlling." Astrid said. "When I was pissed at them both... My anchor was the peaceful forest. It helped me to calm down." She smiled, looking at the trees in front of them. "That's why we need to find you a strong anchor, Scott." She told the boy "I won't always be there to help you..." She said with a sad smile; knowing that that day will finally come.
He stared at his friends who held terrified expressions. He could visibly see Lydia gulp violently, her breathing fast. Kira hid behind her, not sure what she should do.

Scott looked at their faces, imagining the time when all his friends and he were spending time together. All of them laughing, Astrid by his side, staring at him with adoration. His mother was also there. They were all safe, safe from the threats that were constantly lurking in the shadows.
The veins under his eyes retracted, his eyes turning back to the beautiful brown as his claws disappeared. He let go of the wall and breathed in deeply, smiling to himself as he muttered "I've found my anchor."
"Scott?" Kira said in a quiet voice. Scott looked at the two and smiled apologetically.
"I'm sorry. I'm okay now..." he said in a hushed tone. "Now... let's make a plan." He told them the two nodded and got to work.

Astrid, along with Nik, sat in one of the rooms in the old plantation house. Camille writing on the typewriter as Niklaus told her what she should type.
"They have all forsaken me." Niklaus said in a disappointed yet annoyed voice. "My siblings are as deceitful and diseased as my parents ever were, accusing me of using my baby for my own gain, trusting others before their own blood." Nik paced around the room, drinking whiskey from a glass.
Camille sighed, wiggling her aching fingers "would a laptop kill you?" The blonde questioned.
Astrid chuckled "He's really old fashioned, love" she spoke, startling the human.
"How long have you been there?" She questioned, staring at the second youngest original.
"About five minutes." She chuckled "don't worry about Nik, he's clearly over reacting. After all, not all of his siblings are as deceitful as our parents. I mean, I am and always will be by his side." She said in an annoyed tone.
"Sorry, dear, most of my siblings, then." Nik smiled apologetically. "Elijah and Rebekah have cut to the quick with their vicious lies about me when all I've done is try to win this battle of wills over Marcel's control of the quarter in order to reclaim our home." Niklaus said furious, handing Astrid a glass of whiskey. He then looked at Camille who was resting her chin on her hand. "Type, please."
"What's the point?" Camille questioned, Fed up with the hybrid. "You just repeat the same thing over an over again."
"She's right Nik... you are repeating yourself." Astrid told her brother, taking a sip of the alcoholic drink.
"Rebekah is out to get you two. Elijah is out to get you two." Camille said.
"They're out to get him. Well, Rebekah is out to get the both of us but Elijah... He would never hurt me." Astrid smiled "after all I am his innocent, precious, little sister." Astrid said in a childish voice.
"Well... is there anyone who isn't plotting your downfall?' Camille questioned Nik as he sighed loudly. "I doubt you trust your own reflection."
"If the daggers weren't missing, I would put one in each of their hearts, rid myself of the burden of my deceitful siblings for a couple of centuries." Nik said, Camille looking at him then at Astrid, as if asking her for help.
"Don't look at me, love. I fully support that. They have been a pain in the ass recently." Astrid told the human.
"Look at you, repeating the same destructive cycles over and over again. You are the architect of your own unhappiness." Camille told him, staring right into his eyes.
"I don't remember asking for your advice." He said, walking closer towards her with a dangerous look.
"Nik." Astrid said softly yet sternly, stopping her brother from stepping closer towards the woman.
"Oh, really?" Camille asked with a smirk "so of all the people in New Orleans, you choose someone with a master's in psychology to record your life story. You're over 1,000 years old. Pretty damn sure you know how to type. The truth is, you compel me to come here because you have no one else to talk to, except for your sister. But, you're still scared that maybe one day she will stab you in the back and use your insecurities against you. Then, you compel me to forget everything as soon as I leave your presence because you're too scared to trust."
"I am scared of nothing." Nik said sternly. He looked at the desk as he now stood 2 feet away from the blonde. He picked up a weird drawing "what's this?" He questioned.
"It's an ancient, mystical plot I'm using to destroy you." She said sarcastically. He lowered the piece of paper and glared at her. "Relax. It's a tattoo design." She told him.
Astrid walked behind her brither and looked at the drawing. It was a circle with a gap on the left. Lines sticking out from the circle like hairs. A couple lines inside the circle. "I'm not going to lie, love." Astrid sighed "that's a shitty tattoo."
"Draw one on your own time." Niklaus told her as he put the paper back on the desk.
"This is my time. You steal it for me!" Camille snapped, standing up, making the two vampires take a step back. She grabbed her stuff quickly and left the room as the siblings watched her leave.
"Well... that didn't go as planned, did it?" Astrid huffed.
"Don't start, sister." Niklaus said, clearly annoyed as he walked away from her.
Astrid sighed loudly and sat on a chair, looking at the ceiling. "Kol..." She muttered "you're lucky you're not involved in this mess." She smiled sadly.

The Painter: A fantasy psych thriller and epic
*** June 21th Update ***- New chapters are being posted! I haven't figured out a schedule yet, but stay tuned!- Thank you to everyone who has read and reviewed, I'm happy to say The Painter is in the top 200 best-rated fictions. - Readers of The Painter have suggested reading through Chapter 6 before making a decision on this book.- The story takes place in the Lootverse, but you don't need a canonical understanding to appreciate the storyFinally, a warning or reader beware: This is not an action novel (despite the coming fight scene) but a slow-burn psychological thriller of sorts. For a time, the Painter's life was simple. He lived in the small town of Kinon (called Kinney by locals) with his wife, Kahriah and his son, Thesdon. The story begins with him alone and unable to travel more than a few hundred miles from his home. For 5 years he tried to chart his prison until one day a letter appears with a mysterious commission that will see him test his condition and his boundary. Set roughly 50 years before the impending end of days (from Loot canon), The Painter is a story about loss, grit, and exploration of a seemingly normal man in a world of magic and monsters. The Painter will follow the man on his adventure to restore his family, uncover his commissioners and discover the nature of his condition. Loot is the decentralized, global, community built fantasy world based on Dom Hoffman's art/tech experiment: Loot. Fun fact: The cover of our book is painted by the artist, who the MC is loosely based on and the same person painting the Banners (digitally) IRL for an art/worldbuilding project.
