《I Promise // Haikyuu Nishinoya Yuu》-Chapter 2-
Advertisement
I think of her every now and then. Her silky long black hair that dangled a little below her shoulders and her cute air-bangs that would sit on top of her brown eyes. The creases in her eyes when she smiled and her cheeks were the softest to pull. Of course I miss her but...
I HAVE KIYOKO-SAN NOW!!! (can imagine him doing this so well HAHAHA)
Kiyoko Shimizu is a goddess. Her mole is sexy, her face is cute. I don't know if she's sexy or cute. No wonder me and Tanaka fawn over her, I'm not sure its just us though, hmph. (Kiyoko is really pretty >
I grab my books, roughly shoved them into my bag and ran to the gym. Finally, I can see my Kiyoko-san!
"NISHINOYA YUU! COME BACK HERE. YOU DIDN'T HAND IN YOUR MATH HOMEWORK!"
...shit.
First day of school was like any normal day of high school. You were put in class 1-5 since you joined Karasuno late and met your tablemate Hitoka Yachi-san. You both got along really well and she helped you catch up with the syllabus in class.
"Haru-chan, which club are you planning to join?"
"The volleyball club!" you exclaimed with excitement exploding in your voice.
"Oh, the girls' volleyball club or-"
The bell cut Yachi's sentence short and you rush to pack your things.
"I'll see you later, Yachi-san!" you waved as you ran out of the classroom, nearly bumping into a few classmates.
Finally, I'll get to see Karasuno's volleyball team!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As you approach the gym, the sound of volleyballs smashing onto the ground gradually grows louder, and louder, and louder. You push open the doors of the gym and there it was- Karasuno's gym for volleyball. It was like an ordinary gym but this was Karasuno's and you were even more hyped up than before.
"LOOK OUT!"
A ball comes flying toward your face. Instinctively, you did a split step, held both your arms out straight and locked your elbows together.
"POM!"
You send the ball to a blue-haired setter perfectly and watched as he tossed the with perfect timing and accuracy to an orange-headed shorty who spiked the ball with amazing speed. After that insane combo, everyone on the court turned to look at you with their eyes wide open and jaws on the ground.
You looked down at your arms where the ball hit, the red spots were where they were supposed to be. You smiled to yourself, glad that you hadn't lost your touch. You looked up to see 10 tall, buff men towering over your small figure, the orange-head being only a little taller than you. You got a little startled but regained composure and introduced yourself.
"Hiya! I am Misaki Haru of class 1-5. I would like to be a manager of Karasuno's boys' volleyball team! Nice to meet you!"
"Nice to meet you!" the volleyball team greeted you back.
"Oh, so you wanna become a manager huh. With fast reflexes and receiving skills like that, you should join the girls' volleyball team." a voice said from side.
"I am Sawamura Daichi, captain of this volleyball club. You can call me Daichi though. " his voice was calm and deep. You could tell he held a leadership position of some sort. He gave off the vibe of a responsible dad, some what.
You bowed to acknowledge him as your senpai.
"Thanks for the compliment, I was actually the libero for my junior high school team, but I joined Karasuno for the guys' volleyball team! I heard you all were once really strong but I have a feeling you guys will make it to Nationals this year!" you told Daichi with such determination and confidence that touched him deeply. He smiled at you with gratitude for the belief you had in the team.
"Ah, I see! For the manager position, you will have to talk to Shimizu-chan. She's our third-year manager." a silver-haired guy with delicate features stepped forth and commented. "I'm Sugawara Koshi, vice-captain, and Suga is just fine!" he smiled gently.
His smile is really pretty...
You blushed and nodded.
"Excuse me."
You turned around and a pretty lady with shoulder length blue hair and spectacles stood beside you.
"Ah, Shimizu-chan. This is Misaki Haru, she would like to be a manager." Suga-san said.
The pretty lady's face lit up a small bit and turned to you.
"Sure! We already have a first-year manager, but having 2 will be better! You can try out today and see if you really want to join. I'm Kiyoko Shimizu by the way." she suggested.
"Thanks!"
The rest of the team started introducing themselves to you one by one.
"Wahhh, so pretty! Hey, are you around the same height as me?" the orange head asked with sparkling eyes. You giggled at his cuteness and blushed at his forwardness."I think so! I'm 160cm, you?"
"WOAH!! I'm 162cm! I'm Hinata Shoyo, and this frowning man here is a grumpy king." Hinata said while pointing to the incredible setter you had passed the ball to.
"Shut up!" he sighed as he slapped Hinata on the back. "I'm Kageyama Tobio"
You held back your laughter at their interaction.
"That was a really good set-and-spike. So fast, it went like 'WHOOSH!' and then Hinata went like 'BAAM!' and everything was so fast!" you hyped them up. Hinata nodded at every word you said and both of you started jumping up and down shouting sound effects out. No one could understand the conversation, but you and Hinata were definitely best friends already.
It was nice to know that you got along well with everyone in the team. They were extremely friendly and welcoming.
While the fun introductions and conversations were going on, you failed to notice someone standing on the sides and watching the interactions go on.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Go for a jog and do some quick warm ups, and DO NOT forget your math homework again. After that join the match on Karasuno's side."
"Yes sir!" I saluted Coach Ukai and took off for my jog after warming up.
Why is she here? When did she get back? Does she remember me? Wasn't she in America?
These thoughts kept running through my head. We lost all contact after she moved with her family, the neighbourhood was never the same. The bright smiles she brought to the people with her amazing personality were gone. The friendly greetings whenever people saw one another gradually came to a stop. It was different after she left. A bad different.
I jogged back to the gym and saw her. Her.
She was on the court wearing black shorts paired with the matching shirt we both had, "A Match For A Thousand", the exact same one I was wearing, and she had just dived to save a ball that was almost impossible to save. She looked so good too.
Shit.

Embrace the Blade
Born crippled, it was no surprise when James Ransom died young, but he was offered an opportunity - a mission: to go to a new world and become strong enough to kill the hidden boss behind the final boss. Now in a new world he must research and study the system to take advantage of it, find his strengths; form alliances and find party members to become strong enough to face the end. This story does use Multiple perspectives and tells stories that add to the MC's. I've been given this feedback enough that I feel the need to mention that growth (levels, skills, classes, etc.) is slow, intentionally so, but constant. Credit for the cover goes to a commission for KemptBones from DeviantArt for the cover. This book is a rewrite of the original Embrace the Blade. The timeline for this one is completely separate and you do not need to read the original to understand what is going on. If you want to check out the original you can find it here (just a warning that they are NOT good): ETB Drafts 1&2 If you came here from the original EtB, WELCOME!!

Alex was dying, and all the millions his father had left him meant nothing. The life he had been so eager to embrace, to do the memory of his father proud, would soon come to an end. Cancer. That ugly, terrible word. He had tried to be strong for his mother, even when the treatments left him violently ill, his body wracked with pain, his friends and even his girlfriend leaving him almost as fast as his once impressive physique wasted to nothing under the ravages of his illness. And just when he thought all hope was dead, a couple discrete referals placed by high-powered friends of his family got him an exclusive spot at the most sophisticated cryonic facility in the world. He didn't know if there was such a thing as an afterlife, but part of the package included uploading a copy of his cortex into a digital universe filled countless worlds to explore, where he could embrace whatever class or profession he could dream of. All of which sounded hell of a lot better than the miserable death waiting for him in the real world. In the end, he signed the paperwork, putting his pathetic flickering life in the hands of potential quacks and charlatans. After all, with death just days away, what did he have to lose? Even if he could never be successfully revived, he could at least adventure his heart out. (Authors Note: Books 1-6 are now live on Amazon and here is a link if you wanted to check it out! Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.
