《Call Of Death》Chapter 12 : Found Comfort?

Detective Cameron Caiseus Lee woke up from a terrible headache. He can see that it's still dark outside even if he's dizzy. He closed his eyes to adjust and lessen the feeling of dizziness but he felt something that made him furrow his eyebrows. He can feel the hard floor on his back but his head is resting on something soft and moving. He opened his eyes and he was facing the ceiling.
'Did I drunk too much alcohol last night?' He thought to himself.
Cameron massaged his temple to help the pain decrease. He then slowly turned his head and the first thing he saw was Police Officer Devius Wayne Chad peacefully sleeping. And the soft thing that his head is resting, was literally Devius Chad's chest!
"FUCK!" He immediately sat up, freaking out and embarrassed at the same time because of the situation but Devius didn't even buldged from his sleep. "What a sleepyhead. Tss!"
He shook his head and stood up. He stared at Officer Chad who is still deep in his sleep. He sighed and walked to his bed, taking his pillow and blanket. He then slowly placed it in under the officer's head and covered him with the blanket.
"He act childish most of the time and he literally looks like a kid when asleep." He whispered. He polished the trashes and bottles first then started heading to the kitchen.
It's almost dawn and he can't go back to sleep anymore, so he decided to prepare some breakfast. He doesn't usually cook but he has to do something to get rid of his headache. He cooked some Kongnamul-Guk or bean sprout soup. In his country, that helps a lot for hangovers. After that, he made some egg rolls, fried rice and heat some of the leftover fried chicken from yesterday. After he finished preparing everything, he went back to wake up Officer Chad.

"Hey! It's already bright outside, wake your lazy ass up." He called while shaking him with his foot.
"Mm..." Devius groaned sleepily. "Five more minutes, senior."
Cameron sighed and said again, "If you don't wake up, I'll pour some cold water on you." He threatened, making Officer Chad to quickly sat up.
"You're so mean, Detective Lee." He glared at him and then started rubbing his eyes.
Detective Lee unconsciously chuckled, "You're such a kid."
Devius was taken aback when he heard that unfamiliar sound from Cameron. He stared at him for quite some time. Detective Lee was still wearing the apron and he looks so handsome in that. But that's not what caught Devius' eyes, it's the Detective's smile still curved on his lips. He was amazed when he heard his unfamiliar chuckles.
Devius quickly stood up. "Senior, am I still dreaming?" He asked.
"What? You're wide awake now, silly." Detective Lee answered, confused but still smiling.
"But, did you just laughed earlier? Did I hear you laugh just now? And are you smiling?" He asked incredulously.
Cameron realised and immediately switched to his usually expressionless face. He was quite embarrassed after learning that he literally laughed because of Devius Wayne Chad.
So he quickly denied it. "No, I didn't. Maybe you're daydreaming. Have some breakfast and soup to get rid of your hangover." Then he left after saying those.
Devius smiled and shook his head when he noticed that his senior felt shy because of that and he's not wasting any second to tease him. He happily followed Cameron to the kitchen which is not very far since the apartment isn't spacious. He was about to tease him but when he saw the food on the table, amazement is written all over his face.
"Woah! You cooked it all?" He asked looking at all the foods on the table.

"Who else? Unless it's possible that the foods popped out of nowhere." Cameron replied reluctantly.
"When I can talk to you nicely?"
"When you're not being noisy and dramatic." Cameron replied.
Devius smiled and placed his arms on Cameron's shoulder. "What else can you not do, Detective Cameron Caiseus Lee? You're almost perfect." He praised.
Detective Lee just shoved him away. "Just eat and stop overreacting. We have to leave early, we still have a lot of work to do today." He lectured.
Devius nodded and sat on the chair and begun eating. Detective Lee sat down too and took a deep breath before starting to eat too. He's not used of having someone eating with him especially at home. He couldn't even remember when he last cooked for himself. It's also the first time he cooked for someone else. He can't help but sneakily look at Devius' reaction while eating. He wasn't interested but for some reason, he wanted to know about how he thinks about his cooking but he doesn't want to asked.
"Woah! This soup is delicious, Detective Lee." After hearing Devius' compliments, he felt like smiling again but he hid it.
"Stop talking and just finish your breakfast." He simply said.
"Aye, captain!" Devius saluted.
After they finished their breakfast, Drvius went inside the bathroom first and then Cameron followed when he's done. After the two men took a bath and prepared themselves, they both got out of the apartment and hopped in the car.
When Detective Lee stopped the car in front of a convenient store, Officer Chad looked at him with confusion.
"Why did you stop?" He asked.
Detective Lee glanced at him. "I'm buying some food for Seuk Tae. Just wait here, I'll be quick." He answered.
He watched as the other guy walk inside the convenient store. At first he thought he's some kind of numb jerk but now, he's starting to realize how great of a man, Cameron Caiseus is. He doesn't show his true feelings most of the time, making others to misunderstood him but when you came to spend some time with this guy, you'll probably know how good he is. Devius found himself smiling as his first impression of Cameron slowly faded away.
He now know why his friend, Isaac Chase, admires him so much. He waited for Detective Lee to come back.
"Let's go." Cameron said after entering the car.
"You know what, Detective Lee?" Devius uttered looking at Cameron.
"What?"
"I just found out, it's not hard to make friends with you." Devius said, smiling.
Cameron furrowed his brows. "Huh?"
"I mean, you're not the person I thought you are. I thought we would never be friends."
"Who's friend with you? Tss! Let's go." Cameron said but Devius didn't felt annoyed at all.
Although that is Cameron's outside reaction, inside him was a smile. Nobody had said that he was his friend before. Even if Chief Sara Simon is kind and nice to him, she never said that they were friends. They're relationship stayed as more than colleagues but less than friends. Hearing it from Devius Chad somehow gave him the feeling that a space in his heart has been reduced. He doesn't wanna show it, but there was a hidden smile in his lips despite of his dull expression.
In addition to that, he doesn't feel a stranger when he's around the noisy officer, unlike when he's with anyone. Cameron could say that there's some sort of comfort that he found in the presence of Devius Wayne Chad. No matter how he denies, he liked that feeling because he has never felt comfortable with anyone aside from his adopted father.

Dominion Expansion (a 4X LitRPG)
Clay is one of the world's top players of 4X games, a genre where the goal is to eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, and eXterminate. He's also one of the only players in the world to so stubbornly stick to the one city strategy, a favorite tactic of his that involves only ever using a single city or planet depending on the game's setting. All that matters to him is winning with his favorite strategy, but earning the respect of his fellow players for taking a sub-optimal strategy to its highest level has always been a nice bonus. And now it is because of his skill and entertaining determination that he has been chosen to represent a higher realm in a strategy game where the fate of Earth and dozens of other worlds are at stake. To the victor goes the spoils, and the spoils include entire worlds and billions of lives. That's how he ends up representing the ascended realm of Hell in a grand "game" between an entire pantheon of godly beings and other higher powers. But while it may just be a game to those overseeing it, it is a genuine war for survival to those participating in it where billions of real lives will go to the victor of whoever wins, and many will die before the game is over. Quick Author's Notes: System inspired by Civilization, Endless Legend, Stellaris, and Crusader Kings 2. Combat mechanics inspired by the Total War series. Slow-paced with many long-term plans. Protagonist has a personality heavily inspired by Ron Swanson. Know who that is and love him? You should like Clay. Know who Ron Swanson is and hate him? You'll probably hate Clay. Planning on writing every single day (turn). Days with important things happening will have the system/game mechanics be the priority of the chapter. Days where there isn't really anything important happening will be more slice-of-life and focused on character interactions. Designed a dice-based randomized map generator to create the world as the story goes on, so I don't even know myself exactly what's going to happen as a lot is dependent on world generation. Tech tree with hundreds of technologies already designed. There is a "harem," but it's not the main focus, the girls won't be cardboard cutouts, and I'm not going to completely forget about any previous women in the relationship whenever a new one comes along. One last thing. The "game" starts off with primitive technology level. The current plan is for the "endgame" tech level to be equivilent to WW2-era technology. After that and war just gets boring until you end up in space. Cover is temporary and made from royalty-free stock images while waiting for the real cover's commission to finish.
