While driving, Cameron can't stop giving Officer Chad some little glances. His partner was looking out the window but he could sense that something is bothering him.
"Hey, Chad, are you alright?" He asked.
Devius turned to look at him with a force smile. "I'm fine." He simply answered.
Detective Lee sighed. "I know something's bothering you because if not, you would be all noisy again."
"Seems like you've been observing me lately, Cai." The officer giggled but you can sense that it wasn't his usually playful giggle.
"Tell me, what's bothering you?" Cameron asked.
"I'm just thinking about Michael and his mother. I promised the kid that I'll find his mom as soon as possible but we still have no clue about her whereabouts. I just can't help but feel bad." He said in an honest, sad tone.
Cameron squeezed his partner's shoulder while his other hand was holding the steering wheel. "We'll find him, don't worry. For now, just take some rest just like what Chief Simon said. You're still not fully recovered." He advised.
Devius nodded in response. "Yes, sir." He saluted like a child which made Cameron smile unconsciously.
Upon arriving to their apartment, Detective Lee went straight to the bathroom and washed himself up. While looking at his reflection on the mirror, he kept thinking of a way to find out more about who Red is. He has very little clue about the culprit but at least now, he has something, unlike before. He tried remembering what exactly happened the moment before he passed out, he was trying his best to recall something but he still haven't got anything. He dried himself up and went out but he frowned upon seeing Officer Chad gulping in some canned beer.
"Hey! You just got out of the hospital, you shouldn't be drinking." He walked towards Officer Chad and snatched the beer out of his hand.
"Come on, Cai, alcohol heals the wound, you know?" His junior reasoned out and took back his drink.
But Cameron won't let him win, he grabbed the bottle away again. "Devius Chad, listen to me and stop being stubborn. Go wash your face so you could rest." He said in an authoritative voice.
Officer Chad just pouted and followed. "Okay, sir."
Detective Lee followed him with his eyes and shook his head. He sat down and stared at the can of beer in his hand. He's not a drinker but sometimes, he just knew that he have to freshen up. He gulped on the liquor and leaned on the chair. It's only one in the afternoon but the sky seemed to be really gloomy. After some time, the rain started pouring.
His apartment's window was open so the cold wind is getting inside the room. Looking at the rain pouring hardly with a beer in his hand, it somehow gave him the feeling of easiness. There's no thunder nor lightning, just the rain pouring down from the sky to the concrete buildings and ground. The wind from outside is playing with his air as he sat near the window.
"Woah! It's just so hot earlier and now it's raining?" Devius sat down next to Cameron as he dried his hair with a towel.
"Sometimes the weather is unpredictable... just like life." Detective Lee mumbled and took a sip from the bottle.
"You know what, Cai? One of my teacher before in primary school told me that if it was really sunny and then it suddenly rains, someone is getting married." Officer Chad narrated while watching the drops of the rain outside.

Detective Lee turned to his partner, looking confused. "Who?"
"A goblin or something that is called tikbalang." Officer Chad answered with a laugh, Cameron just glared at him and shook his head.
"Tss. And you believed him? I would understand it if you're still a primary students but you're a full grown adult now. How can you still believe that?" Cameron twitched his lips.
"What? It's true! He's from the Philippines and they had this belief that if it's so sunny then it rains, a duwende — which is a Philippine goblin or something called tikbalang— a half human half horse creature is getting married." Devius said like he really believed it.
"There's no such thing, Chad." Cameron argues.
"How could you say so? You haven't seen them yet." Officer Chad made face like a child, Cameron could only shook his head because if his partner's behavior.
When Detective Lee didn't say anything, Devius got up from his seat and went to the fridge to open a can of beer. He guzzled it all in one gulp and opened another can. Cameron was too busy looking at the rain outside and he didn't notice that Devius had already drunk five cans. When he finally turned his head to his partner's direction, Officer Chad was already walking towards him, carrying five unopened bottles.
"You! How dare you sneak up on me and drink?" Cameron stood up and snatched all the bottles from the officer.
Devius only laughed and shook his head. "You're late, Cai. I've already drunk some cans. You're too busy staring at the rain, you didn't even noticed." He cackled in a drunken voice.
Detective Lee furrowed his brows. "How much had you already drunk?"
"Well, about five cans?" He casually answered. "Chill, drinking isn't bad, you know? Also, my alcohol tolerance is high."
"Tss! Don't give me that reason. You just got out from the hospital. You can't be drinking. You're so stubborn." He lectured.
"Cai, are you in your menopausal stage?" Devius teasingly asked, Detective Lee just glared at him.
"Do you want me to hit you?" He threatened.
The latter only laughed. "You're always looking so grim. You don't even smile that often. You're always serious and silent, once you opened your mouth, all you do is scold me." Officer Chad pouted and walked pass his senior.
"It's because you're like a child. You like being stubborn and doing things that I told you not to." Cameron uttered.
"Hmp! I know that not the real reason."
"What?"
"I said, that's not the reason, Cai." Devius shook his head.
Detective Lee leaned on the chair and faced him. "What then?"
"I think it's because you feel lonely and you're afraid that having a companion will make me you lonelier."
"What?"
"You're the type of person who doesn't know how to express your feelings. Sometimes, you acts opposite of how you really wanted to. I've seen you so weak once when you were drunk. I saw that grief, that pain in your eyes and I know you felt sad. I know you suffered from something that made you who you are today. I may not know the reason behind why you're putting a wall around you from the world but you didn't have to build a wall so high and thick, you know?" Devius said in a long litany, Cameron didn't utter a single word, instead he just stayed silent.
He opened a bottle and gulp it all at once. He doesn't want to admit it but Devius was right. He is indeed building a wall around him against the world. It's because he doesn't trust anyone and he doesn't want to trust anyone. He had suffered all his life before someone saved him from hell. It's very hard for him to even let others have a peek of his true form. He doesn't want to be alone. He didn't choose to wall himself up but he doesn't have a choice. He fear that if someone gets too close, he'll be dragged back to the hell he once had.

He fear that if he trust someone too much to the point that he would let them see through his disguised, he will be forever trapped and no one will be there to drag him out. Devius is right when he said that Cameron felt alone and the feeling of being accompanied scares him.
'Life was too cruel to give this kind of destiny but it already happened and I could never do something about it.' That thought made Cameron's heart ache but it's the truth.
No matter how hard he wanted to turn his past differently, he couldn't. Time passed and they have now drunk almost fifty cans. Officer Chad stocked up a lot of alcohol so it wasn't a problem for them even if it's raining. They're now both sitting on the floor as they munch on some dried squid and peanuts. The rain haven't stopped yet it started to pour even harder.
"Cai, can I ask you something?" Devius broke the silence.
"You're always asking anyway, what is it?"
"Were you worried when I was shot?" Officer Chad asked, looking at his partner.
Due to the sound of the rain and feeling of dizziness, Cameron didn't hear the officer's question clearly. "What did you say?" He mumbled, sounding really drunk.
"I said, were you worried when I got shot?" Devius repeated.
"Hmm. No." Detective Lee denied.
Devius chuckled. "Tch. Don't Deny it, I saw you cry. If you're not worried, you would not cry."
Detective Lee looked directly at Devius' smiling face. He remembered the scene again where he was spitting blood from his mouth because of the gunshot.
"Fine, I was worried to death. I've never had someone who's willing to take a bullet for me before. I was so worried that you would die from saving me." Perhaps it's the alcohol's effect on Cameron's system but he said that in all honesty.
Officer Chad stared at him. He's a good drinker but maybe because he just went out from the hospital, his alcohol tolerance is a bit low. He could feel the alcohol's effect on his body and he also felt dizzy.
"But I wasn't just worried, Devius..." Detective Lee continued as he looked directly on the officer's eyes. "I was so scared. I was so scared that I would lose you and cause grievance to your family. For the first time in my life, I felt protected but it's the worst feeling I ever had." He uttered, sadness and regret is visible in his drunken voice.
Officer Chad stood up and sat next to Cameron. "Saving you was my choice, Cai. Whether I survived or not, you didn't have to feel guilty or sad because it's my own choice and I'll always make that choice in any situation." He stated in comforting tone.
Cameron shook his head, staring at the can in his hand. "No, I don't want you taking a bullet for me again. You're right, I've never had companion because I never wanted one. I built walls around me to shield myself from the world. If I have a choice, I would just live alone forever but your presence..." He stopped his sentence and turned to face Devius. "Your presence made me fear being alone again. I wanted you to stay beside me but I don't have the courage to ask you to. I found comfort with you but no matter how I try, I can never give it back." Cameron emotionally muttered.
Devius smiled upon hearing those words. "If you wanted me to stay with you, just asked me and I will."
Detective Lee shook his head. "No, you have a more interesting things to do in life ahead of you, mine will remain just like this. You're cheerful, you still have a lot you can do but me? I don't think I'll ever be able to take a step out."
"Hey, hey. Don't say that. You're still young, you still have a lot of time for everything. I will help you, Cai. Just tell me and I'll stay. Not to be your colleague but to be your friend, your partner. I wanted to be someone you can be comfortable with."
"You don't have to do that, Chad. You don't know what my past is or who I really am. I don't think you will be able to enjoy your life if you're with me."
Officer Chad took a deep breath and held Cameron's hand, making the latter face him. "Cai, what do you take me for?" He asked.
"I don't know. I don't know if you are my friend, my partner or just my colleague. I don't know at all, Chad." Cameron answered but hearing those words made Officer Chad smile. "Tss! Why are you smiling? You're not taking me seriously." Detective Lee sounded a bit annoyed.
Officer Chad shook his head. "I like your answer. I prefer that you don't know than hearing you say that you only take me as a friend or a colleague."
"What do you mean?" Detective Lee asked, confused.
Officer Chad moved and sat in front on Cameron. He smiled and Detective Lee just stared at him without any idea. They both stared at each other's eyes as their hearts begun pounding crazily.
"What are you doing?" Cameron asked, his eyes looking sleepy. Officer Chad suddenly held his face with his hands. "Hey! What are you doing?"
Devius smiled. "Do you remember when I told you I like you?" He asked.
"Huh?" The other mumbled.
"Do you remember it?"
"Tss. If you're gonna tease me, stop. I wanted to sleep now." Cameron tried to shove Devius' hand but was stopped by what he said next.
"I was just kidding before but this time, it's true. I think, now, it's real. Cai, I think I'm really falling in love with you." Devius confessed, catching Cameron off guard.
"W-What did you say?"
"Cameron Caiseus Lee, I think I'm in love you." After uttering those words, Devius pulled Cameron into a kiss.
Detective Lee wasn't prepared for that but for an unknown reason — could be the alcohol but he didn't push Devius nor did he moved. He just steadily sat there, closed his eyes and let Devius Wayne Chad to own his lips. He could feel his heart beating so fast and an unknown feeling started growing inside his chest. He was confused but he couldn't resist. The feeling of Officer Chad devouring his lips made his heart jump strangely. He wasn't ready for anything but he couldn't refuse. The only thing in his mind is that kiss and nothing else. He Cameron could only think of that moment, disregarding what could happen tomorrow after they were sobber.
