《Call Of Death》Chapter 51 : The Favor 2

Devius, still feeling sleepy, forcefully got out of the bed and struggled to walk towards the door. He turned the lights on first when he walked passed it. He was sure it was still a bit dark outside and it's raining a bit hard. He was confused about who would knock at the door their this early because no one had ever came to visit them at times like this before. Also, nobody has ever knock on the door ever since he moved in with Cameron. Chief Sara Simon does but she doesn't come so often and not at this time, that's for sure.
A loud knock came again. "I'll be there, just a second." He yelled while walking. When he finally opened the door, he was surprised to see Detective Kairo Sedis Parker, standing in front of the door, looking pale. He was soaked from the rain and his clothes are muddy! His face has some little bruises in his face but aside from that, he doesn't have any wound visible.
"Detective Parker?"
"Officer Chad, help me. I—" Before even finishing his sentence, the detective passed out.
Fortunately, Officer Chad was fast to catch him so he didn't fell straight on the solid floor. Devius immediately became worried.
"Detective Parker, are you alright? What happened to you? Who did this?" He asked consecutively but Detective Parker was already unconscious.
Devius tried to carry him but then he felt something wet and hot behind Detective Parker back. He thought it was just the rain but when he lifted his hand from behind, he realized it wasn't wet because of the rain. Detective Kairo Parker was stabbed and his blood was flowing out of his wound from his back!
'Shit!' Devius quickly panicked because there's a lot of blood coming out of the detective's wound.
"Cai! Cai, wake up! Help me here, something happened to Detective Parker!" He yelled for Cameron who immediately storms out off bed the moment he heard his colleagues' name.
"Why? What happened?" He shouted.
"Cai, h-help me, here." Devius' worried voice made Cameron double his pace.
When Detective Lee finally came to the door, he saw his partner, he was holding Detective Parker who was lying unconsciously on the floor. His partner' s worried face greeted him. He doesn't what's happening yet. But when he looked down at Officer Chad's hands, they were covered in blood. That's when he realized that his colleagues clothes is starting to be in the shade of red.

"What happened, Chad?"
"He was stabbed."
"Hurry! We have to take him to the hospital, let's go." Detective Lee quickly grabbed his keys and helped Devius carry Detective Parker to the car downstairs.
"Cai, will he be fine?" Officer Chad nervously asked while they were on the car, heading to the hospital.
"Don't worry, Parker wouldn't just die."
"I'm worried, Cai."
"I'm worried too but he's a tough one, I'm sure nothing bad will happen to him." Cameron responded, stepping on the accelerator—focusing on the road. "Just pressed on his wound, we'll be at the hospital soon."
"Okay. Alright."
They were almost at the hospital when the two heard Detective Parker's phone ringing. Officer Chad glanced at Detective Lee first before nodding and taking the phone out of the unconscious detective's pocket. It was familiar number to Devius. He might not have seen it a lot but he was sure he knows that number. He hesitantly pressed on the answer button before slowly putting it to his ear.
"H-Hello?" He started.
"Turn the speaker on." Cameron mouthed through his lips.
Devius nodded and did as he was told. There was a silent on the other line and all they could hear was the rain. Obviously, the caller was outside because the rain's sound was really visible to their ears.
"Hello?" Officer Chad said again but no one responded then the call ended.
They just both shrugged it off because as of the moment, their main concern is the wounded detective. Detective Cameron Lee made a turn to the nearest hospital. After parking the car, Cameron immediately went out to help Officer Chad with Detective Parker. Upon seeing the patient, the nurse rushed to them with a stretcher.
"What happened to the patient?" A doctor asked.
"We don't know, doctor. He just knocked on our door and he was like that. Someone stabbed him." Officer Devius Chad narrated as he bit his lower lip.
"What is your relationship with the patient?" The doctor asked again.
"He's our colleague. Anyway, can you ask questions after you treat him?" Detective Lee sounded a bit annoyed, the doctor just nodded and went on his way.

Officer Chad patted his partner's back. Cameron turned to him with a worried look in his eyes. He didn't really show it but Detective Kairo Parker was one of the people who made him comfortable when he was still new to his area. Surely, he worked longer than him but his approached means a lot to him.
"Cai, it's you who said he's a tough guy. Don't be nervous, we're at the hospital now. Detective Parker will be fine." Devius comforted him.
"I'm not nervous." He turned his face to another direction.
"Alright, as you said."
"Chad...
"Okay, okay." Devius gave out a comforting laugh, followed by a sigh. "But, I wonder what really happened to Detective Parker? I was so shocked when I saw him full of blood." Officer Chad leaned on the wall.
"I'm wondering either. Parker is a good fighter, his skills are above average. I just can't think that someone could ever injure him." Detective Lee uttered.
They both went silent, waiting for the doctor to come and give them some news. Cameron sat on the steel chair as he tried thinking of what could possibly happened to his colleage. He knows that Detective Parker is a good fighter. He's good in both close and distance combat. He's a pro in using a gun either and he's really fast at it. Seeing him getting stabbed is really not something Detective Lee would expect from Kairo. Also, he was wondering why would Detective Parker be around the area at this time when he's apartment isn't that near Cameron's place. Aside from that, Detective Parker often sleeps in the quarters if he can't go home.
'What really happened to you, Kairo?'
They have been in silent for a while when Detective Parker's phone rung again. Devius had almost forgotten that he was holding Detective Parker's phone. They gave a glance at each other before answering.
"Hello? Who is this?" Officer Chad asked, putting it in speaker mode.
Someone chuckled on the other line, Cameron quickly recognized who is it. Officer Chad just stared at his partner im confusion because of his reaction. That is because Officer Chad has never heard Red's real voice on the phone so he has really no idea.
"Good morning, Officer Chad, Detective Lee." Red greeted as if he was in a very good mood while on the other hand, Cameron was just clutching his fists.
"Was it you?" He seriously asked and grabbed the phone.
"Uh-oh! It is not good to blame anyone quickly."
"Shut up and answer me, Red. Was it you? Did you do that to Parker? Tell me!" Cameron asked in an angry tone.
"I didn't do that to him." Red said in a teasing voice.
"I'm warning you. If anything happens to Parker, I swear to God I'll find you and lock you to jail forever, Red!" Detective Lee exclaimed but the caller only laughed at him.
"Oh. I'm scared." Red mocked.
"I'll find you. I'll make you pay for everything once I found out that you have anything to do with this and the murders. Mark my work." Cameron threatened but Red isn't moved at all instead, he smirked.
"I'll be waiting for you until then, Detective Lee. I'll never move on my place so you could find me. Goodbye for now and I remind you—always keep an eye to your new toy because I might snatch him away from you." He let a playful laugh before hanging up.
Officer Chad was just staring at Cameron as he furiously face palmed. He doesn't have any idea of what they talked about because Detective Lee turned off the speaker mode while they were talking. The only thing he knew was that, the person who just called was Red because Detective Lee said his name. Devius wanted to asked about what they've talked about but the detective's mood wasn't in good condition, so he chose to remain silent and wait until he calms down before saying or asking anything.

A Beginner's Guide to Napping, Sunbathing, and Slaughtering Your Prey
Fang is a simple cat. Fang likes napping in the sun. Fang does not like being called Chairman Meow. Fang likes his belly being scratched for precisely 17.329 seconds. Fang does not like being punted between dimensions. Fang likes hunting and killing defenseless wildlife. Fang does not like mysterious blue boxes that appear out of thin air. Fang is having a Very Bad Day. A few things to note: Fang is a cat soul in a cat body, and that's not going to change any time soon. No cat girl evolution or possessed puppet or any of that. The slice of life tag is there for a reason. There is no epic tale here, only a cat doing cat things in a (hopefully) interesting setting. The game elements are pretty light, mostly there for flavor, so don't expect a huge amount of crunch. Nature is cruel, and cats are crueler than most.

Will release on a minimum weekly schedule. -After a backlog of chapters, posting will slow, but in the interim you can expect a chapter a day up until roughly 25 chapters. -This story at times will potentially carry some heavy moments, but the tone is intended to be lighter overall. -There are invisible game-like elements in this story, but nothing so concrete as a dedicated gamelit novel. -I personally have some issues with anxiety, so I may or may not interact with the community a lot. I'll try if anyone has questions, but I can't guarantee that it'll be consistent. -MC is a non-human lead, and will never actually become human. Romance will potentially happen between side-characters, but not with the MC. -MC IS NOT THE ONLY VIEW POINT. I have to put that out there because people sometimes hate alternate PoV's in a story. None of them will be filler, and they'll be there only to give a little bit more nuance and meaning to the world that the MC has stepped in, or is about to be imminently important. I'll try to keep them down, but this also helps to prevent me from burning out getting trapped in one view. -Most of all, I hope that this story is enjoyable to you, and that you have a great time reading it! -Written by Michael Adams, Cowritten/Edited by Summer Kent
