《Call Of Death》Chapter 67 : Trapped

Detective Cameron is still lying unconsciously on his hospital bed. His colleagues wanted to stay with him until wakes up but they can't leave their job especially after what's happening. Police Officer Devius Chad's disappearance and everything that is happening, they can't stay and do nothing. No one called Daena yet to tell her the news but Isaac volunteered since he was closer to his best friend's sister. Harold and Chief Simon went back to the office to create a plan.
Detective Kairo Parker volunteered to stay and look after Cameron until he wakes up. He sat there on the chair near the door and just stared at the unconscious detective. He sighed while looking at his distress expression.
"Why don't you just stop? This ain't doing you any good. You can just let go of the past and live for the present. Why can't you just let go of Lee Han Se?" He said while sighing deeply.
"No, please. I can't leave him alone. I have to save him, please! Please, save him! I can't leave without him..." Detective Parker quickly stood up after Cameron shouted in his sleep.
He run towards the bed and shook his colleague. "Cameron! Hey, Cameron! Wake up, wake up." He tried waking him up but Detective Lee was still trapped in his nightmares.
In his dream, he was able to escape the first room but when he went out of the door, he was trapped again and this time, he was back in the basement. Everything seemed real. Everything feels hot as the fire started to spread out. The same little boy was there too but like in his memory, his face was blurry and Cameron couldn't recognize him.
"Lee Han Se, come with me and leave this place." The other younger little boy called from the door.
Cameron froze from fear and he couldn't move his feet nor could he shout. He wanted to run but he was glued on the floor.
"Come on, we have to leave this place. Help me take down the wall!" The little boy shouted at him but he was frozen and unable to move.
"We can't take down the wall. We're kids, we're weak. Let's just leave through the door." The other kid insisted.
"No, we won't leave anyone here. If you want to, just go by yourself and ask for some help. In that way, everything will be easier." The older kid insisted to which the other followed.
The kid continued what he's doing while Cameron swallowed hard as he stared at the massive fire. Woods from the ceiling were falling down and the toxic smoke is slowly getting everywhere, causing him a breath difficultly. Then he felt a hand holding him tightly on the wrist. When he turned around, it's the boy but even with the close distance, he still couldn't see the boy's face.

"We have to leave here, okay? Don't be afraid, I won't leave you alone. We promised each other that we won't leave anyone behind, hmm? I'll save you and get you out of here." The little boy said as he caress his face.
The comfort and assurance he felt through the boy's little touches were familiar. Detective Lee held the boy's hand and they both went to kick the wall. It was slowly shaking from their kicks and the fire but they're also starting to suffocate from the smoke. When the wall was finally taken down, Cameron was pushed out of the burning place without noticing that he accidentally let go of the little boy's hand. When he turned around, he saw as the building started to collapse. He saw the little boy being hit by a burning wood.
"No!" He shouted as he started going back but someone held his hand from behind. "Let me go, I have to save him. Let me go! Sir, please." He struggled in tears but the one from behind wasn't going to let him go.
"I'm sorry, young man but we can't save him anymore. He's gone. We have to leave and cure your wound on your back." He heard a familiar man's voice but he couldn't take his eyes off of the little boy who was slowly being devoured by the fire.
"No, please. I'm begging you. I can't leave him alone. I have to save him, please! Please, save him!" He shouted, pleading for the man to save the little boy.
The man shook his head. "It's very dangerous to go in now, even if we could get him out, he won't be able to survive." He explained.
"No! Don't say that. I promised them that we won't leave anyone behind. You have to save him. You still can save him." Cameron pleaded as he stare at the burning building, hopeless.
Even if the man kept insisting that the little boy was gone, Cameron never took his eyes off of him. He watched as the image of his savior, the kid who saved his life, his friend slowly became clear. Cameron's eyes were full of tears as he watched the fire eating the place and then he heard a voice.
"Save me... Crimson."
"Save me... Crimson."
"Save me... Crimson."
He felt like his body was being pulled from the back and he couldn't resist it. He kept hearing the name Crimson as his head started throbbing and his vision was starting to get blurry because a massive white light surrounded him from everywhere.
Then after a while, he heard Detective Kairo Parker's voice calling his name. "Hey, Cameron! Cameron! Wake up! You're having a nightmare."
Detective Lee slowly opened his eyes, his head still throbbing. His sight was greeted by the white ceiling and as he slowly adjusted his vision, he saw Detective Parker's worried face looking at him. Cameron could feel his body soaked in sweat and his breathing was abnormally fast.

"Are you alright? What did you dreamed about? You were shouting earlier." Kairo asked, worried.
Detective Lee massaged his temple and took a deep breath. "What happened? Why are you here, Parker? Where am I?" He asked.
"We found you at an abandoned building in the middle of the forest. You were unconsciously lying on the ground so we brought you to the hospital." Kairo explained as he handed him a glass of water which Cameron gladly accepted and drunk. "Also, Chief Simon, your father and Officer Chad's friend—Isaac Chase were here earlier." He added.
Cameron took a deep breath and got out of the bed, removing the dextrose from his hand. Detective Parker immediately stopped him from what he's doing.
"Lee, what are you doing? You have to rest. You've been working for a long time that's why you passed out." Detective Kairo Parker said as he held Detective Lee's arm.
"I have to continue searching, Parker."
"You have to rest, Lee."
"But I have to find Devius Chad. The longer he stays with that bastard, the more he is in danger. I don't know what his plans are but I can't let him hurt Devius." He said in a desperate voice.
Kairo sighed. "I understand, Cam. I know you're worried. We're worried too and if something happens to you, that wouldn't help at all, Cameron."
"Parker—"
"I know how important Officer Chad is to you and I'm not going to do nothing too, Lee. But this about the people who are worried about you. Your father just came back, will you risk your life because of your rush action?"
"What do you want me to do, Parker? Rest while Chad is in the hands of my enemy?"
"It's not that, Lee. Why don't you just take a break for a while? Take some rest. This ain't doing you any good. You're so restless, Cameron." He said trying to make him understand.
"How can I rest if I know that the most important person for me is in danger? How can I rest if the man I love is at risk?" His eyes said it all but Parker looked at him with surprised.
"T-The man you love? Y-You... You love Officer Devius Chad?" He asked in disbelief.
He didn't expect to hear those words from Cameron's mouth. Detective Parker thought he just misheard him but he knows that was just fooling himself. He heard it clearly, the living Antarctica — Cameron Caiseus Lee loves Devius Wayne Chad!
"I have to save him, Kairo. I have to save, Devius." He said and with that, Cameron walked out of the room, leaving Detective Parker dumbfounded.
Cameron is still feeling dizzy. He couldn't find his car so he just took a taxi without a destination. His mind was still in that dream. The memories of that day where he escaped the place as it was devoured by the fire. The cries for help from that little boy who saved him. He now realized that it wasn't just a dream, it was a memory of his childhood. Watching that kid die in front of his eyes is one of the reasons why he's still trapped in the past. He couldn't do anything before as he was still a helpless little kid but this time, he'll make sure that he will do everything to save Officer Chad. He knows that he has to save him not just because the officer saved him before but because he loves him more than anything. He failed to save the person who save him before but this time, failing will never be a choice for him.
On the other hand, Ju Jin Su sighed and shook his head. He took his phone out and dialed Red's number. He waited for several minutes before the line got connected.
"Hello, Jin Su. Why are you calling me?" Red asked from the other line.
"I was planning to call you since earlier." He said.
"Why?"
"You asked Detective Lee to go to the ghost forest? And you just went there to leave a piece of cloth from the officer? Are you out of your mind? You could have been caught, Hyeol." Ju Jin Su's voice sounded lecturing.
A sigh was heard on the other line. "But I didn't get caught. I just want him to remember everything, isn't that part of our plans?"
"Yes, it's a part of our plans but can't you do it in a more careful way? What if you didn't got away in time? What if you got caught?"
"I left the place before you even arrived, why are you so upset, Sed? If you're going to lecture me, let's just talk when you get here." After saying that, Red hung up the call.
Ju Jin Su could only sigh and shake his head. He wanted to help Red make his revenge plan a success yet he can't help but feel worried for him because of his actions. He doesn't know why he's so eager to finish everything. Ju Jin Su place the phone back to his pocket and left the place.

Legends of Balarel - A Leisurely LitRPG
Glenn Redwood has longed to become an Adventurer since he was a young boy, and has focused every waking moment on that goal since turning 14. Answering the challenge of the Gods of Balarel, he has fought Monsters, Leveled, and grown stronger. Yet the day before his 16th birthday, the day he will earn his dream or lose it forever ... the Gods have made a wager. And no mere mortal wishes to draw the attention of the Gods. ***** This is my crack at writing a leisurely LitRPG. My focus is more on telling interesting stories set in a world where people live under a MMORPG-like ruleset enforced by the Gods, and less on writing another story where the MC gets massive stat boosts every chapter before heading off to wreck the world. There will be plenty of blue tables (it’s LitRPG!) but my Adventurers are just starting out. This fic is about the journey, not the destination, so expect everyone to Level ... leisurely. Updates: M-T-W-Th. I’ll post 3000-4000 words a day, or 12000-15000 words a week. If this posting pace ends up being too much for me, I reserve the right to slow posts down a bit. Inspirations: Blessed Time (Royal Road) Is It Wrong To Try To Pick Up Girls In a Dungeon? (Anime) Trails in the Sky (JRPG Series) MC: My MC is a genuinely good person who’s both a talented warrior and tactically savvy. He prefers to solve problems without violence but will resort to force if necessary to protect his friends or innocent people. I’m tired of stories starring anti-hero MCs facing endless doom and gloom, so I wanted to write a nice guy with an adventurous spirit who helps people in a thriving fantasy world. That’s all.
