《Call Of Death》Chapter 85 : The Truth - Final Call

The Chief Simon and medics arrived at the scene after Detective Lee called them at the hospital. Handcuffs were placed around Ju Jin Su's wrist while he was unconscious and carried to the ambulance. Devius was just standing motionless, looking at Harry's lifeless body as they put him inside a body bag. The other officers are searching the area for more possible evidence.
"Devius..." Chief Simon's voice was heard but he couldn't move an inch. "What happened? Why is Chief Lee dead? Why is he dead? Who killed him? Please tell me the what happened, Devius." Even without looking, he knows that she's crying.
"Wayne! Please talk to us. What happened here? Senior Lee said that his adopted father was fine! What happened? Why is Sir Harold Lee dead? Who did this!?" Isaac tried shaking his friend's shoulder to get him to his senses.
"Devius... I'm begging you, please tell us what happened. Why is he dead? What happened? Why is Chief Lee dead?" Chief Simon's voice was almost a whisper because of how hard she was crying.
Devius slowly shifted his gaze to him, hands shaking and tears flowing from his eyes. "H-He... He killed himself... He shot himself i-in front of us..." He struggled to speak because of the lump in his throat.
Chief Simon felt weak and almost lost her balance. "W-What did you say? Chief Lee will never do that! He would never do that!" Sara exclaimed.
Devius shook his head slowly as he run his fingers through his hair. "He did, chief. H-He did."
"No!" Chief Simon shook her head.
"Why would he do that?" Isaac asked his friend.
"B-Because he was b-blaming himself for everything that happened..." Officer Chad sobbingly responded.
Harold Lee was like a father to Sara. She looked up to him and treat him like his own dad. It's hard and painful for her to accept that he's gone when he just came back. She knew that Cameron will feel more than worst if he finds out about what happened to his adopted father which Chief Simon doesn't know how to tell him. Not even Devius know how.
"Why? Why would he do that?" Sara questioned.
Devius fell on his knees, he doesn't have any strength left. He had been through so many things in a short period of time and witnessing Harold's suicide was too much.
"H-He said... he was the reason w-why everything happened. He said... if he was just early, the real Lee Han Se won't die and Red wouldn't have to take revenge." Devius narrated.
"The real Lee Han Se?" Sara asked in confusion.
Devius nodded. "Cai isn't the real Lee Han Se. His real name is Lee Jin Hong." He explained.
Isaac and Sara looked at each other. "I don't understand, Wayne. What do you mean?"
"I'm also very confused when I found out but I think it's better to just ask Detective Parker." Devius stated and sighed.
Everyone was confused especially Chief Simon and Officer Chase because they weren't there when everything happened. To add to that, Harold Lee's death was very frustrating for them too. No one spoke then after their conversation. They stayed silent and thinking until they got to the hospital where Red and Ju Jin Su was brought.

As soon as they arrived, they went straight to Detective Parker's room. Cameron was already there when they entered, accompanied with some police officers. Isaac took a handcuff and a piece of paper which a Miranda Rights was written. He sighed and walked towards Kairo's bed. The detective didn't moved nor did he utter a word. He was just looking at down probably ashamed for everything he had done.
"Detective Kairo Sedis Parker aka Ju Jin Su, you are arrested for the murder of several people. You have the rights to remain silent. Anything you say can be used in favor or against you in the court of law. You have the right to get or your own lawyer and if you can't, the government will provide one for you." After reading Ju Jin Su's rights, Officer Chase placed the handcuff around his wrist which he didn't resisted.
"Parker, I don't know what to say. I didn't expect something like this from you." Chief Simon's voice was full of disappointment but also disbelief.
Kairo lifted his head and his eyes are full of regret. "I regret disappointing you, Chief but I never regret helping Hyeol. I know, I did everything wrong. I did some evil things and I'll never be able to take everything back but, I can right one thing..." Detective Parker sighed and bitterly smiled. "...it's only me who killed those people. Hyeol never killed anyone. I'm not saying this because I wanted to save him, I'm telling you this because it's the truth. Hyeol never killed anyone because he wasn't a bad person. He was just devoured by pain and anger but he's a good guy, I promise."
"But he still needs to be punished for kidnapping Devius." Cameron spoke making Kairo turn to him.
"Yes, I know. But I have some request for you, Cam..."
"What is it?"
"Please forgive him and visit him sometimes. He's lonely without me. So please, even if he did something wrong to you... please take care of him." Kairo mumbled with tears in his eyes.
Cameron doesn't know what to answer but he nodded in response. After that, everyone left the room except for some police officer to guard the door of the room. Officer Chase and Officer Chad went somewhere while Chief Simon decided to talk to Cameron and tell him everything.
They were sitting under a tree near the hospital. Sara wanted to tell him what happened to Harold Lee but she doesn't know where to start. Looking at Cameron's relieved expression, how can she tell him that his adopted father was gone?
"Chief, what do you want to talk about?" Detective Lee asked, looking at his superior.
"Cameron, you're father..."
"Oh, yeah, where's dad? I didn't see him arrived with you earlier."
Sara looked down, tears are attempting to flow from her eyes again. She swallowed hard to get rif of the lump in her throat. She couldn't utter the words. She doesn't know how to tell Cameron about what happened. If she's hurting so much, how much more if Cameron finds out?

"Chief, are you alright?" Detective Lee's worried voice make Chief Simon look at him. "Why are you crying?"
"C-Chief Lee..."
"What is it, Chief?"
"C-Chief Lee is d-dead, Cameron..." She finally managed to say.
"W-What?" Cameron felt like he misheard his superior.
"He's dead, Cameron..." She confirmed.
Detective Lee awkwardly smiled and shook his head. "No, Chief. Red said that the bullet he used isn't real and that it would kill dad."
"Yes, Red's bullet didn't b-but the bullet Chief Lee used to shoot himself did."
"What? Dad would never do that, Chief. He would never kill himself!" Cameron insisted, tears starting to flow from his eyes.
He doesn't want to believe that his father was gone. Even if Harry lied to him, he couldn't accept what his superior was saying. Even Sara couldn't believe that it happened. The pain in both Sara and Cameron's heart are visible from their tears and expression.
"I-I'm sorry, Cameron..." Sara sobbed.
"No, Chief... He can't die. It's not true, he still has many things to explain to me... W-Why?" Even Sara's hug couldn't ease the pain Cameron was feeling.
He managed to save Devius but he also lose his father. Even if they aren't blood related, Harry was the only family he grew up with. When Harry left, he was devastated and now he just came back to leave again but this time, he left forever. It's very painful for Cameron. He doesn't know why destiny is so cruel to him. Even if he got to have one, he also lose another.
On the other hand, Devius and Isaac were standing not so far from Cameron and Sara's direction. Looking at how his partner was hurting after knowing what happened to his adopted father, Officer Chad couldn't move an inch. He wanted to run towards the detective and hug him, comfort him but he couldn't. The image of Harold Lee shooting himself in front of him kept flashing in his mind.
"Hey, Wayne, are you alright? Are you sure you don't want to see the doctor?" Officer Chase came behind him to assist him.
Drvius shook his head. "I'm alright, Isaac but Cai isn't. Seeing him suffer like this, seeing him hurt—it's like I'm being torn apart." He tearily responded.
Officer Chase patted the back of his friend. "We can't avoid that. Mr. Lee was like a real father to him and his death will make a massive impact towards Senior Lee. All you can do is stay beside him and accompany him until his wound heals. And as for you, I'm always here. I'm not good at giving advice but I'm a good listener." He joked, trying to make his best friend feel better.
Devius nodded. "Thanks, Isaac."
"Tss! You didn't have to thank me. I'm your friend, so I'm supposed to always be right here when you needed someone." Officer Chase smiled and placed his arm around his friend's shoulder.
Chief Simon accompanied Cameron while Devius and Isaac went back to the hospital to check on the two suspects. Officer Chase was busy talking to the other police officers and Devius went to check on Red. He slowly opened the door and saw that the guy was sitting on the bed.
"Hey, can I talk to you?" He said.
Red slowly looked up to him. "Officer... What are you doing here?"
"I wanted you to tell me everything. I am confused and I wanted to get some answers."
Red furrowed his brows. "What answers? Haven't you got them already?"
"No, Red. I haven't." Devius shook his head.
Red sighed and leaned on the bed. "What do you want to know then?"
Devius grabbed the chair beside him and sat down. "Detective Parker... I mean, Ju Jin Su already confessed and he took all the blame. He said he was the one who murdered those victims and not you. Is that true?" He questioned.
Red chuckled. "To be fair, it wasn't just him. If there's anyone to blame, it's me. If I haven't asked him to help me take revenge, he wouldn't have to put blood in his hands."
"Are you saying that he really killed those people? So, it wasn't you?"
"Officer, we killed those people. We must have the same sentence because it wasn't just him, it's us."
Devius smiled and stared at Red. "You cared for Ju Jin Su just like how you used to care for Lee Han Se."
"What?"
"You could deny it but I can see it in your eyes. Maybe Ju Jin Su said the truth after all."
"What truth?"
Officer Chad sighed. "That you're not a bad person. You were only enveloped with anger and sadness. That's why you did all this."
Red lowered his head. "Maybe not, Officer. Maybe I was never a good person. Because if I was, Lee Han Se could still be alive and Jin Su wouldn't have to commit the crimes because of me." The sadness was visible in his voice.
Devius stood up and place his hand on Red's shoulder. He didn't said anything but Red felt the comfort. After that, Devius left the room.
Finally the case of the killer caller was solved. It wasn't an easy one, everyone got affected. Especially Cameron, Devius and Sara Simon. They've been affected the most because of things that are hard to explain.
Days passed and the case went well. Ju Jin Su and Red were charged for the crimes they've committed. Devius Wayne Chad returned to his station and to his usual job. Chief Simon was also doing the usual at her office. But Cameron disappeared after Ju Jin Su and Red were sentenced and after Harold Lee was buried. He never told anyone where he would go because he never said anything before leaving.

Quebracho: The Legend of Two Heroes
After a violent and tough battle, you recover in an infirmary with your fellow soldiers, or in a more relatable scenario, visit your friend's house after a hard day of studying. You’d expect that both of them would play out normally for the most part, right? Well... Maxon Cortez and Jason McGuire had the same thoughts too. Yet, fate has different plans for them: Max ends up in an eerie location he doesn’t recognize and Jace gets transported to an entirely different world that works like a video game (sort of) by walking into a portal. As they travel along the lands, the two of them will encounter other individuals of many kinds, make friends new and old, gain powerful abilities, experience spectacular adventures, and obtain priceless treasures. However, Maxon and Jason will unknowingly become integral parts of a nefarious conspiracy that, if successful, will plunge both of their worlds into eternal chaos and darkness. So it’s up to them and their allies to thwart it. Side-Note: I’ll admit right off the bat that this story will be my first attempt at writing a LitRPG, so the in-game mechanics and terminology will probably look weird and be even nonsensical. If you notice something that’s out-of-place or just flat out wrong, I apologize. Not only that, it's been a while since I've wrote anything and thus I'm a little bit rusty. So please bear with me. New chapters once every Saturday or Sunday. Also, I'll be fine-tuning the grammar, punctuation, and spelling when I have the time. So expect a lot of random edits.
