《Mr. Executive》Chapter 48

"Here." Alexander says throwing something at me.
Barely catching it, I unfold the material to find it unraveling into a crème coloured dress.
"So do you randomly have woman's clothing or am I missing something here?" I joke.
Alexander rolls his eyes at me and then points to a bag I hadn't seen on the bed prior to my shower.
"I asked Candice to drop some clothes off for you while you were in the shower."
"Of course you did." I mumble as I look at the thin flimsy material, it was nearing winter and I'd look ridiculous wearing a dress.
Candice just had to put me in such a situation.
"I knew I liked something about Candice chick." Muses out Alexander, knowing the situation I was in.
"You could wear something of mine?" He questions out, slipping his own shirt on.
"No it's fine, I can manage I guess." I say heading over to the bathroom to change.
"You could just change here you know." Voices out Alexander.
The door slamming shut is all the answer he needs.
After getting dressed the both of us head out and into Alexander's sports car.
"Do you want to get breakfast first or do the important stuff." Asks Alexander as he pulls out of his long driveway.
"Important stuff first, I don't think I'll be able to eat beforehand." I say uneasily.
"Okay."
And with that we were off to god knows where.
*********
"Nora Davis."
Why do people keep saying my full name as if it is some sort of accomplishment they were making?
Looking behind the glass counter that held various casings of glittering jewellery of all kinds with a plethora of precious stones.
I finally see the caller of my name.
Standing there proudly in a button up and jeans was none other than Caleb.

"Caleb!" I say in delight as I quickly rush over to him, as he does the same towards me.
The both of us hug and he slightly lifts me up in the air.
"And here I thought you'd forgotten about me." Pouts Caleb.
Stepping away, I smile up at him.
"Never!"
"Well good, now missy you have a lot of explaining to do especially regarding a certain someone."
Just as I was going to answer him, I feel Alexander come up behind me and wrap an arm around my waist, pushing me back into his chest.
Caleb doesn't seem to notice Alexander's childish behaviour as he himself was too busy staring at Alexander like he was the finest being to walk the earth.
Alexander probably was but still that's beside the point.
"Casey right?" Questions Alexander in a steely voice.
I discreetly nudge him in the ribs because I know for a fact he did that on purpose.
"Actually they call me Caleb but you can call me any day."
My mouth drops open in shock and I try with all my might not to burst out into laughter.
I clearly fail as Alexander's puzzled face comes into my vision.
"Um..." is all Alexander manages to say.
"Ignore him Alexander, we're here for a reason and I would like to wrap this up as quickly as possible." I say feigning seriousness.
"Of course you do." Mumbles Caleb finally taking his lingering gaze off of Alexander.
"What would you two love birds like? Necklaces? Rings? If you're looking for a sex shop, I know a great one just down the road? He questions innocently.
Alexander shifts uncomfortably behind me.
Sure, he's all suave and smooth with me but gets all flustered in the company of Caleb.
Maybe I was sensing something here?
Of course just as the thought slips through my mind, I almost burst out laughing once again.

"We're looking for a ring, an engagement one at that." Says Alexander in a serious all business tone.
"Got it." Caleb says, eyeing me before going to the other side of the counter.
I knew I had a lot of explaining to do, to a lot of people.
"I thought you were a sales manager?" I question Caleb as he takes a few of the casings out.
"Yeah I am, here." He says sarcastically not even looking at me.
"Okay so you have the run of the mill here, princess cut, square, diamonds, sapphire, all that jazz. I'm assuming price isn't a problem?" Caleb asks looking at Alexander.
Alexander picks up one of the rings and checks it out, turning from side to side as if it could give him the answers to all his questions.
"Not at all." He finally says looking back up at Caleb than at me.
"Choose what you want."
"Um." Is all I say not quite sure what to do.
I mean I didn't want to exactly buy my first engagement ring like this but then at the same time money wasn't an issue.
Scanning the rings, I shake my head.
"I don't know!" Confusion coats my voice and I start to get nervous under both their gazes.
"Okay darling, I'm assuming you don't want anything too big or fancy right?" Questions Caleb entering into his business zone.
I nod my head, grateful at him for stepping in.
"Okay so nothing too fancy, big or flashy." He muses as he scans the various displays.
"Wait one minute." He orders and with that he's out of our sight.
"Babe just pick what you want, it's not like it's going to be your real one." Alexander says.
"Have I told you how romantic you are babe?" I mock Alexander.
He huffs a laugh and nuzzles his face into the side of my neck before lightly kissing it.
Luckily not many people were in the store and those who were didn't give a damn to anything but their shopping.
The best sort of shoppers in my opinion.
"I leave for less than one minute and you two are already cozying up in my store." Jokes Caleb.
Laughing I turn back to him.
"So what do you have?"
"The perfect ring!" Says Caleb grinning from ear to ear.
Placing the small navy blue velvet box onto the glass counter, he carefully lifts the lid off, showing the most beautiful ring I had ever seen.
It was just perfect with its small tiny diamond stones going around the edging and centred by a slightly bigger one. Various different stones lined the band of the ring.
"You can even get words inscribed." Caleb says happily.
"It's beautiful." I murmur.
"Great we'll get that." Says Alexander already reaching for his wallet.
"Wait," I stop him, "How much does it cost?"
"Well," Caleb starts out sheepishly, "a few thousand."
"It's fine Nora." Interrupts Alexander but I ignore him.
"How much is a few?" I press further.
"You know just around $122,123. It's a 12.54 carat classic style solitaire engagement ring and you can get a free lifetime upgrade on the diamond. So what do you think? Yay or nay?"
"Great, do you need card or check?" Asks Alexander, ignoring me.
"Either is perfect." Caleb announces happily.
"Nora I'll meet you out at the car." Is all Alexander says as he ushers me out of the store, staring at me till I finally head outside.
